The NPCs in one small corner of the map now seek their own path instead of remaining content with what they were born knowing. While some choose to look inward and explore themselves, others reach outward into new lands and untapped resources. However, many more mysterious corners remain where a cosmic infection that abhors such displays of self-consciousness still twists and writhes throughout Mother Sana. When the Blackmoor royal entourage sails across the sea to visit a powerful distant Town, Jack focuses his gaze on finding out why these virtual souls fixated on their verdant gardens for thousands of years instead of the rotting world around them.~ 90,000 words
The characters are interchangeable, the morality is unbalanced. The actions taken lack real consequence. I found myself skimming through sections because the details were irrelevant. No pun intended. The enjoyable aspect of this series were the character details in relation to the wider world. By increasing the scope repeatedly and quickly, that has been lost.
King Jack with the help of his friends and Hero's are fighting for their freedom from a corruption killing the world. Evil takes on many faces, but still can be killed in the end. The motto "this is Our World" is the battle cry of all the world and the only way to win is to cheat the game. Rules are ment to be broken!
There’s nothing like conflict to heighten a plot, and we get it here in spades. Not only do we see trauma, drama, and limitations based on conflict, but we get really careful consideration to work through them. Our happy growth group was bound to meet someone like this. Of course the real fun is the the enemy had no idea that they would meet Jack. Definitely recommended (16+)
Hopefully the series wraps up in the next book or is clearly stated to finish in two. Things are definitely set up to make that happen. If it drags out past there, it's going to feel like filler and I have enough of a reading backlog that I'm going to have to decide if I want to continue. I'd love to finish the series, but...
One other thing: The opening section tries to make the main character sound emotionally vulnerable (I think?) but it was just grating instead. Once through that, the rest was better.
The new challenges sally forth as our Hero's expand the kingdom and continue to win through the best way possible. Education, invention, and creation. But what should be a short trip for networking and leisure becomes a nightmare as a true threat revels it's closer than thought possible.
Another zinger from the SBT team makes this virtual world visceral with their telling of this amazing story.
Onward through the corruption! For all our sake's.
I was tempted to abandon reading this story as it sank into extreme game universe lingo and hallucinatory action scenes. Having never done hallucinogens, I decided to stick it out and read my way through the madness. A few bits of this book are fine, the rest are not up to the previous efforts. I suggest skipping this story and going on to the next one. Using Grammarly migt have made it more readable.
Another winner by Prax Venter. This time, he really flesh out the world of Subroutine Sana. I really love how this has gotten in much more grittier topics and when it got dark, it got dark. Yet there is humor mixed in and plenty of tower action that left me guessing the out come.
Story that draws you in and wishing for more right away
Impressive blending of reality, fantasy and science fiction so that you get great entertainment with some good life lessons in the mix. You also feel for the characters and their growth, hoping and cheering for the accomplishments.
A solid continuation in the series. Still same cast of enjoyable characters plus a new one. A few nail-bitting moments but more of interest to see where it goes as oppose to fear of the outcome. There is not much uncertainty when it comes to the MC and their companions. Of course, I hope I'm not proven wrong ultimately. I like all of them. Interested to see where it goes.
Any series of books is challenged to find a unique draw to its version of a familiar subject. Application of concept a draw in this book. Weaving it into its tapestry is part of the problem solving that makes it a fun read. I would give the series a try for the simple enjoyment of its unique take on the subject.
Just scratching the surface of the world and only 5 books in. Love this series as it is a great blend of fantasy and science fiction. Cannot wait to see how the MC grows and how the world develops.
I am really enjoying this series. One of the most interesting things is as it set up the game system the way they spend time breaking the game system. This fantasy problem solving has really got me hooked.
This series keeps evolving in a good way. My favorite parts are still the wonder if the tower climbs which while they exist almost seem to be a side story. I would like to see our hero strive to become stronger.
Once again a nice step forward in the story, I really like that we get a completely finished part in each book so no needing to wait a few months. Looking forward to the next step now that the corruption is actively targeting strategy.
I enjoyed the book. The universe is entertaining. A different take on lit/rpg than i have read before. I did not expect the twists and turns that occurred. I like the characters and want go see what happens go them next.
The war is now coming closer again as we face against the corruption and try to find better and more inventive ways to bend or break the rules. As more and more characters come into the series the action and fun gets better and better
Not a lot of tower climbing in this book its more nation building instead. Jack is busy extending his territory when he runs up against an ancient enemy of his AI friend. They manage to escape her and finally defeat her so they think.
I really like the way the series has a unique take on the LitRPG genre. This humor and good characters. It's good to see characters growth throughout the series. I'm looking forward to the next several books. Thanks Prax!
Book 5 was a great addition to the series and I can't wait for 6 to come out. On a side note, the Alt song was a great addition and I can't wait to hear Justin Thomas James sing it when the audio comes out.
Prax Venter does it again. Irrelevant Jack forges on and add more towns, invents new stratagems and saves his citizens. Great read! I recommend it warmly.
This series is great you got a hero with a pretty much indomitable will to save the world always coming up with new ways others hadn't thought of to win
