The Unseelie are up to no good…

My name is Benton, and I hunt the darkest of creatures in existence.

Especially when they get unruly and try to invade my home, the human realm.

Betrayal, broken hearts and uncharted magic… I never saw it coming.

When Benton returned home to try to grieve and regain some peace after searching for and capturing escaped un-seelie, he encounters a women from his past and his chance to rest is lost. I enjoyed this look into Brenton’s past and his relationship with Isolde and I enjoyed the deep voice of the narrator, it suited Brenton’s character well. If you haven’t read or listened to the Dark Faerie Tale books (which is a great series btw) then you may have difficulty understanding this story.

This was a bit confusing to me as it seems to go back before the war and then into the present. Characters we’re meeting for the first time without a hint of before.

That being said, the short sets the series up nicely for what may be to come.

This narrator does a really good job with the voices.

The Woman Who Owns His Heart

This is technically a spinoff series of the Dark Faerie Tale series. Personally I believe it should be read inserted within that series or you will constantly be confused :) The reading order for both together will follow. The first book is The Withering Palace. The second book is Evangeline. The third book is Ever Shade. The fourth book is Ever Fire. The fifth book is Ever Winter. The sixth book is The Cursed. The seventh book is Ever Wrath. The eighth book is History Of Fire. The ninth book is Ever Dead. This is the tenth book. I can't wait to read Legends Of Fire!

While hunting Unseelie and Slugah slave traffickers Benton runs across the one woman he can never forget... Isolde. She has always been more than she seems and was the only person he ever really dated. Back when her first discovered he had magic she was there for him. He has never been able to move past the regret he carries for abandoning her (without so much as a word) to fight the War in Faerie. Will he be able to make it up to her? Or will she refuse to even let him explain? Why is she here of all places? And hiding with a group of barely Fae kids? Where has she been this whole time? Can he get her to give him another chance?

***This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who enjoy dark modern fantasy action adventures filled with mystery, intrigue, thrills, horror and a bit of romance of the forbidden variety :)

Benton has traveled home to chill for a minute and regain his peace after tramping around and catching escaped un-seelie. He's also having a hard time with the loss of his mother and the rest of his family staying in Fae. He gets more than he bargains for and meets a special lady who he inadvertently puts in danger when he thought he was helping her. Now the quest is on and between him and Soap it is always an adventure. The race is on to save the girl and sets something right. Between him and Soap and all that happens it is a bang up time for all in more ways than one.

More Benton!

I enjoyed getting to read some more about Benton. I feel like there is so much more to his story and this short just added more depth and possibilities. I can never get enough of the Dark Faerie Tales series. I think it was a good job by the author to create a short that anyone who has not read the series before could jump into this story. It could basically stand alone.

Love this author but didn't care for this story. Didn't like Benton as a person and it didn't seem to be edited at all to the point of distraction.

Love this series and this novella is one of the reasons why.
Benton, brother of the Summer Queen, is on a quest to capture Unseelie who have escaped into the human world. As he encounters a group who are kidnapping faerie children, he is reunited with his first love, Isolde, whom he he has never forgotten. In the ensuing confrontation between the light and the dark, secrets are revealed and betrayal separates them once again.
In this fast paced, heartbreaking read, we gain insight into the Elemental Benton, a wonderfully rich character who seems so tough, but who in reality hides his pain behind this hardened mask. He is a winning personality and I so want him to have his own HEA. I hope we get to read about how he gets it.
I received a free copy of this book from the author with no obligation to review.

I received this from Alexia. I enjoy all of her writing, and these short stories bring even more depth to her work. Benton is quite a guy, and it is always interesting to spend time with him. This short story involves one of his hunts that went rather poorly. Benton has some really neat talents, as well as an interesting history.
