I never thought I’d lose so much when I first set foot in Moon Valley, but I refuse to believe it was all in vain. I won’t stop until Tyrien is punished, the curse is broken, and my mate is free.
With the Alpha Trials in full swing, I need to stay focused on what’s really at stake. It’s not just about winning the game, it’s about stealing the throne from the supreme alpha and finally getting my revenge.
The only way I can do that is with my reluctant fated mate at my side. He’s vowed to help me win, to take down his own father, but will he really be able to kill his own flesh and blood to protect me?
When a stranger shows up in Moon Valley, my already complicated love life takes a turn for the worse. Between uncovering secrets of the past and hunting for my grandmother, I barely have time to concentrate on my new powers. But I have to, because the trials are getting deadlier, and my unpredictable magic is not only the key to my survival, but to that of my pack.
*** This is an upper YA/NA crossover with schmexy alpha wolves and is best suited for ages 16+. Be warned this is a slow burn enemies-to-lovers romance, and the steaminess factor does increase through the course of the series! ♥
*** Wolfish is set within the world of Azar, along with (in reading order) Hitched, Darkblood Academy, Royally Hitched and Darkblood Prison but it's not necessary to read the other series first to enjoy this one.
G.K. De Rosa has been an avid reader from a very young age. In fact, before she could even read, she tried fooling everyone into thinking that she could. At the precocious age of two, while living in Italy, she had memorized an entire children’s book in Italian and expertly turned the pages at the exact right moments of the story. As she grew up, she always enjoyed literature, no doubt having been instilled with a love of story telling from her early years in Catholic school where she was greatly influenced by exemplary teachers who taught her the value of English and Literature. Though she did not pursue writing in college and instead went for the more traditional route of International Business inspired by her love for travel and all things foreign, after a move to New York City, she found her creative writing side calling once again. She began writing a restaurant review blog, City Lights and Tasty Bites, detailing her other passion – food! The hectic hustle and bustle of the city, combined with long commuting times gave her the opportunity to spend more time reading and rekindled a lost love. After reading countless books in many diverse genres over the two years in New York City, and returning to her home state of Florida, she felt compelled to write something for herself. She had always felt particularly drawn to Young Adult novels and having been an eternal romantic at heart, a fantasy romance was a natural choice. She currently lives in South Florida with her real life Prince Charming and their fur baby, Nico the German Shepherd.
World build: Lived up to the standard set in book 1. Easy to follow. Each sects place is clearly defined.
Storyline: Picks up where we left off flawlessly. Exciting mystery that needs to be solved starts inching closer and closer to answers. The only issue I had was the continued delay of a "mate bond". I feel like this was went on to long. It was interesting in book 1 and should have been resolved in the end. Here we are in book two and it is still an issue. Just made me lose some interest in the mateship.
Wow, another page turner! G.K. DeRosa just knows how to pace a book and plot so well that I can never put the book down. I ALWAYS get sucked in and have to keep reading until I actually finish the book. Every time.
Given how book 2 ended, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with book 3. With the hunt for Sierra's grandmother happening, and then a mysterious stranger showing up, things seem to be spiraling out of control for Sierra.
Another amazing book that I can't wait to add to my bookshelves for another read again in the future! Keep going, G.K., your work is out-of-this-world amazing!
Another fantastic page Turner from g.k derosa this book definitely doesn't disappoint... Serriea is coming into her powers while the trails are getting more heated each round meanwhile she feels abandoned by her grams who put this curse on her and hunter, serriea seems toget one thing sorted then another problem falls into her lap, after discovering she not the only mistic pack wolf and her father as left a letter telling her she has to mate with braxton it's like her and hunter are doomed never to be together...... this book was a brilliant read loved everything about it
This marvelous read is a page-turner filled with action, adventure, paranormal creatures, magic, betrayal, reluctance, and love. There is mystery, suspense, chemistry, and amazing characters is this entertaining and fast-paced book. I loved it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
A great read! You must read the other books in the series first in order to appreciate this one for you need to have that background to understand what has transpired up to now!
I love this series! GK weaves a story that will draw you in with the characters she writes about and makes you feel like you are right there as the events take place!
I recommend this series to readers old or young who enjoy a story of paranormal characters, romance, action, suspense and adventure! This series has it all so just get comfy and settle back and enjoy a story that will have you turning the pages as fast as you can! I started the book in the afternoon and read into the middle of the night to finish it in one sitting! I couldn’t put it down! I just HAD to find out what was going to happen next!
This series has everything one would want in a action adventure story complete with betrayal, redemption and everything in between. The only disappointment is the cliffhanger at the end that will make you have to wait for the next book to continue the excitement!
I am not a writer myself so I couldn’t craft a book such as this but I am so glad I learned how to read so I can read books such as this and feel like I am right there with them as the events take place! That’s the magic of a well written story that it captures you and keeps you spell bound until the very end! GK’s series do just that so what are you waiting for? Get the full series and get caught up so you’ll be ready like the rest of us when the next book comes out to continue this exciting action adventure series! You’ll be so glad you did I guarantee it!
Great job GK! Take a well deserved bow for you’ve once again crafted a series which is unputdownable! Your readers thank you for all the hard work which went into each book in those series you have crafted!
Wolfish (Mateborne) by G.K Derosa, book 3 in the (Wolfish) series. This series just keeps throwing in all these surprises, and this book was even more exciting with even more reveals and answers that we have been waiting for.
This series is so addictive and I literally can't stop reading it. The reveals are jaw dropping, Sierra has been so tough during all these books, and I feel for her so bad, she lost so much, and the love she has for Hunter still and him for her even though he can't is inspiring. They are still trying to break this curse now they know who it was. I'll just say I was as devastated as Sierra. They just can't catch a break, when they're still tackling the Alpha trials determined to get her revenge. The tragedies we have in this book were unreal, and truly heartbreaking. We have new characters that enter Moon Valley that could change Sierra's future forever but could also destroy what Hunter and her have.
I love that the reveals and the surprises just get better and better in this book. Just so many unexpected moments, the answers we get are coming together now, I've literally read this in a matter of days. I love the characters and the reading pace is so easy and fast. Friendships are broken and trying to hide secrets is getting even harder, when they find out their own family has been keeping more secrets then they knew. It's all building up now for the final book, and I can't wait to see how this turns out, but not gonna lie, I'm so nervous about what's gonna happen.
Sierra’s grandmother is still one of the most horrid, selfish people. She clearly never cared for her granddaughter over her own pain.
When the Alpha Trials first started in book two, I thought that would be the main part of that book, and that the next two would focus on other things. But the Trials drag on, and in this one they’re really a minor subplot. I kinda felt like it wasn’t even necessary to give them page time, because there is so much else going on in this book. A new wolf shows up in town, and that throws a wrench into things for Hunter and Sierra!
We finally see if Sierra and Hunter complete the mate bond or is duty over-rules Sierra’s heart. There’s still a lot to learn about the Mystic’s but we do get more answers. Book 4 wraps up the series so hopefully we’ll get answers and an HEA wrapped up in a pretty bow.
How do you find someone that does not want to be found? Especially if they are magical and in charge of a coven of witches. Sierra belonged to a special breed of wolf's and have magic also called Mystic. Sierra 's Dragon boyfriend Hunter is looking for her trying to get a curse taken off him and the person they are looking for is Sierra's grandmother the coven leader. All of a sudden another Mystic show up that was thought to be extinct and promised his father something that wasn't going to happen. Hunter is not liking him there and does this story ever get exciting. A great series!
Book 3 does not disappoint and G.K. has pulled out all the stops! A mysterious visitor arrives that puts more of a target on Sierra and Random shows his true colors more than once. Hunter calls on a few favors from his friends and Sierra's Grams shows how heartless and cruel she really is, leaving another secret behind. I hope Sierra's decision doesn't come back and bite her in the butt! Just what is Hunter's dad up too and is he connected to Grams last secret? I would highly recommend this book and series.
Sierra continues the search for her Grandmother to break the curse on her fated mate. In the search, she find other things she really wasn’t expecting. Braxton shows up as her betrothed arranged by their parents before the Mystics were destroyed.
This third book continues the storyline and ties in characters from other DeRosa series. Getting updates on previous characters is a treat for DeRosa fans, but adds a number of inessential characters that is confusing with bits and pieces of alternate plot lines. It is a bit distracting to the main plot in the current series.
Once again, the ending leaves with nothing settled and the search continues.
Well that was another night of very little sleep. I think my DeRosa obsession is getting out of hand. I finished the third book - Mateborn and went straight on to start the 4th. This one lived up to the usual standard I associate with this author now. Well written, well paced, and the usual great characters. Still on a search for a cure to the curse placed on Hunter by her grandmother, Sierra has so many other things on her plate too. The Alpha trials of course which is still ongoing, but they are now on the final week of the trials and she is slowly creeping up the leader board with a little help from some unexpected sources. There is also the sudden and totally unexpected appearance of another Mystic Wolf, who has a letter for Sierra from her father before he died, saying he had chosen this wolf, Braxton, to he her bonded mate. She has already promised herself to Hunter and is very much in love with him, she has swore to be with him until the end of her life. However they have not yet made the mate bond complete so Brax thinks he is in with a chance as he was chosen by her father so they could continue to Mystic line. Sierra is torn, briefly, between them should she obey her father and accept an arranged mate or follow her heart and complete the bond with Hunter her fated mate? She and hunter arrange from some help to track down her grandma to beg her to remove the curse from Hunter so he would be free to love her, they scry for her and chase her all over the world but she always seems to be one step ahead of them. Eventually they do manage to reach her and she and Hunter plead with her to remove the curse, but the vile old lady refuses, she hates Hunter's father with a passion and wants him to suffer through his son, Hunter tries to tell her he wants to over-rule his father and rule with fairness but she takes drastic action and now the curse will never be lifted. A brilliant book again, and the 4th one is shaping up to be the same.
I am off to try and catch up on a couple of hours sleep while the house is quiet, it could be anothe long night.
I probably shouldn't be writing this now. I finished these a week ago and I'm grumbly, so that's going to bleed into my review... cut me a little slack here with my blunt wording.
The romance between Sierra and Hunter continues in the 3rd book of DeRosa's Wolfish series. It seamlessly picks up right after the previous book, so one can jump back into the action (especially now that they're all out).
The wait for the books to come out kinda killed the series for me. I had to re-read, and then I was more interested in finishing the series after being left on a cliff-hanger for 6 months and losing interest, so I waited for books 3-4 to come out... and I only finished because it showed up in my Facebook feed again. Of the independent authors I've been reading for the past 6-ish months, G.K. DeRosa is one of the better ones-- there's a lot of crap out there, so I was lucky to find her stories. They're refreshing. I'm tempted to read some of her other stuff on Kindle-Vella.
Anyway... this book...
While the story is engaging and boasts of a teenage romance, this novel kicks things up a notch as the two lovers become more intimate as the pull of emotions becomes extremely weighty... and the series takes that YA rating and just chucks it right out the window.
We continue the book at the same pace, and with some of the same push and pull between the characters and the plot thickens as a new character is introduced and grandma doesn't seem to be any more willing to remove the curse as she was before... Really, book 3 is all about keeping things moving along to get to the end, and those added twists started feeling more like a trope to get book 4 to an appropriate length so the story could wrap up.... or, at least, that's how I felt. Granted, I admit the success of this tactic because I went on to order and read the 4th book as well.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 3rd in the Wolfish series and ends in a cliffhanger. This book is all about the dangerous Alpha Trials. I loved the unique and dangerous challenges. I felt more time could have been spent on the Trials showcasing their danger. I felt the author treated the Trials almost as just a background for the ‘will they/won’t they’ annoying plot line of Hunter. Hunter doesn’t want to have Sierra suffer a loveless mating, so he keeps threatening to leave her. I wish there was more focus on Hunter’s exes, so Sierra could be jealous or something. Hunter and Sierra spend a lot of time searching for Sierra’s grandmother and her coven. Visiting Sierra’s coven was a fun side adventure. I wish there were more threats, verbal or otherwise, towards Hunter and Sierra. More threats would have made the sense of danger so much more.
>A new pack mate appears for Sierra, one who is her parent’s chosen mate for her. Once again, more could have been done with this awesome plot twist. Hunter is already super protective. His uber jealousy could have been highlighted, along with more of Sierra doubting her choices. By the way, does Sierra ever attend classes? The friendship between Ransom and Sierra is torn apart, which is such a loss. Ransom provided some flirty fun with a side of danger.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The book could have utilized some of its plots in more depth. I loved seeing Sierra come in to her powers more and more.
She did it again. I cannot stop being impressed by the stories coming from G.K. DeRosa. Mateborne is book 3 in the wolfish series and definitely has to be read as part of the series.
Sierra has had a rough life growing up human, finding out at her 16th birthday that she is a witch and later on turning into a wolf. All of those events have made her tough and sure that she can survive almost anything that comes her way but also very determined to never give up. In Mateborne her and Hunter are continuing the quest on breaking the curse while competing in the Alpha trials. Some new wolfs enter the game and some old friends from other series are making a comeback. All in all a well rounded book it has suspense, love, hate, enemies, fighting, heart stopping suspense, and friendship. Once you start you will have a hard time putting it down.
If this is your first series written by G.K. DeRosa you are in for some amazing other stories. The World of Azar had been a setting for a few other stories and they are all just as amazing. With lots of supernatural beings and different challenges, thinking outside of the box and love and intrigue. I cannot wait for the final book of Wolfish to be released and I know I will be waiting up the night of November 30th to make sure I get it at midnight on December 1st.
Thank you Genevieve for sharing your amazing talent with the world.
Holy cheeseballs, Batman. There are not enough petals for the game of "will they, won't they" Hunter and Sierra play. It's almost a dead horse by the time they finally decide what to do.
Braxton-Introduced as a speed bump in the Hunter/Sierra relationship. He starts off this curious creature and then starts to strengthen into seeming like a douche canoe. I get it. I get where he might be coming from but he's looking like a plant at this point and I'd like to cut him a little-maybe while giving him a hug.
Ransom, same. He seems like he's processing his mothers death in the way he needs to but I need to see him come back into the friendship. Destiny seems like a horrible person that came out of absolutely no where but maybe she'll be revealed as a nice person who made a bad first impression as time goes on. Doubtful but I don't see any way the Ransom/Sierra friendship can be repaired if she's gonna act like this.
That cliffy has me clawing my eyes out in need for more, so....thanks for that. Can't wait to see what happens next!
G.K. Derosa delivers another captivating page-turner book that won't disappoint the reader.
Sierra's powers are increasing in strength, and the search for her grandmother to break the curse becomes more urgent. All the while, the Alpha trials become progressively more hazardous. Not only that, but Sierra also learns that she is not the only Mystic Pack wolf and is then instructed by her father, through a letter, to mate with the last member of the Mystic Pack to rebuild the pack.
Throughout the series, I have been anticipating the arrival of Garrix or Azara, who are the most powerful warlocks and potentially possess the ability to break the curse. However, it appears that the author has a different plan in mind for breaking the curse, which has yet to be disclosed in this book. We will have to wait for the final book to discover the outcome.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, which presented an engaging story filled with unexpected twists and turns. Additionally, we get some updates from the characters of the Supernatural Prison Squad throughout the narrative, which adds another layer of enjoyment😉.
This was pure entertainment that I couldn't devour quickly enough. We see bonding, death, sadness and lots of twisty turns. This wasn't just about winning the trials, this was about staying alive and fostering hope. I love all of the epic world building and how these characters really have to do everything on their own in a world wholly against them.
Sierra is getting stronger, she's developing her magical abilities and while having to repeatedly face these horrifying goodbyes. She's suffering this crushing grief and yet, she's carrying on and mastering things beautifully.
Hunter is one intriguing fellow. He's had my thoughts and emotions all over the place but he's one powerful and determined leader in the making. His mate only adds to his strength and without her, he'd be a completely different being.
If you want a slow burn wolf shifter series that you can really sink your teeth into, this is it!
This book I was rooting for Sierra to find her strength without Hunter so I was happy to see the development during the trials. Then I was feeling so angry for her and the family secrets that went on and how she was left without anyone. I’m sure book 4 will hopefully explain but GAH! And what the heck is up with Ransom! I am so dang mad at him!! I can’t stop reading this series and now I’m onto book 4 where hopefully the curse is broken, we find out what Tyrien is planning, what Lucien is planning and what Ransom is planning. How the coven is doing without their high priestess and what it meant for Sierra to turn them down along with what other family secrets Gram kept from her!
Wow, another head-spinning outing! There’s quite a bit to talk about not that this reader can put in coherent sentences at the moment but the highlights include:
Hunter and Sierra in the final phases of the trials; Sierra’s lost Ransom’s alliance. Sierra’s able to reach her witch coven but they aren’t helpful and she makes a hasty decision about them. A Mystic male comes to Sierra’s dorm claiming to Sierra’s mate, upsetting Hunter.. Rumors of more Mystics circulate and Sierra flexes her new alpha powers.Hunter’s resolve wanes on his decision for their future. Rogues attack Sierra again, Hunter’s dad gets a clue and Grandmama seriously meant ‘don’t look for me’, she hops until she’s trapped then fights back the only way she can. Rating: 4.5stars
Book 3 was so good!!!! My only complaints are that Ransom wouldn’t hear our Sierra and it took basically the entire book for them to be “cordial” again. Also his mate Destiny? Something smells fishy. I also wonder if Ransom has real feelings for Sierra still? I feel like there’s going to be lots of twists and turns in this next book and I really can’t wait. I’m glad Hunter and Sierra are finally mated but dang her Grams was really selfish. Sierra has been in the dark her entire life and I’m even frustrated with the lack of answers she’s receiving!!! Our new character Braxton is also a wildcard. Hopefully he’s mated to someone else in their pack so he’ll get off of Sierra and quit being so mopey about it. Hopefully we’ll get more answers in the next book!
This is one of those series that just keeps getting better and better as the story progresses. I have to say I am totally hooked on this story and it’s characters and each time cannot wait to dive back into this incredible world. Exciting and very entertaining, it’s dangerous and the twists and turns will have you on the edge of your seat. I just love Sierra and think she is a total bad ass even if her magic is unpredictable as she continues on her journey through the trials. Mystery and suspense, chemistry and romance, action and adventure, this series has it all and I am ready for book four please!
Wolfish: Mageborne by G.K. Derosa is Book 3 in the Wolfish series. This is an exceptionally well written roller coaster adventure that is action packed, has lots of twists/turns, intrigue, betrayal, magic, amazing characters, and so much more. Sierra and Hunter are still competing in the Alpha Trials - they want Sierra to unseat Hunter's father and become supreme alpha. A new character is introduced that ups the level of intrigue and make very difficult decisions for Sierra. Loved this book and series. Each book is a page turner to the last and leaves you wanting more. Highly recommended. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
Surprises & Shocks Galore!😲🐺💥 A 3.5 Star Read.🌟 Stubbornness Takes A Toll.😡😢💔 (Read using Kindle Unlimited) Wolfish: Mateborne (Wolfish #3)
This had a lot of content that moved the story forward. There are many surprises & a few huge shocks in store too.😲💥 The biggest shock for me was that Sierra & Hunter continued to allow stubbornness to rule them, It drove me absolutely crazy.😡 I like the world, characters & the overall storyline is enjoyable too, but the constant push & pull between those two, that barely ever gets them anywhere, is just infuriating!🙈
I've got a month to wait for book #4. I hope everything gets settled once for all.🙏
Warning: there is ANOTHER BOOK after this one that isn’t listed in goodreads. I figured it out at about 90% of the way through. Wouldn’t be a big deal except I meticulously plan the series I read around the time I have off of work since I have to read books in quick succession or I lose interest, and I don’t have time during the week to read. I’m annoyed, I think this seals the deal that I won’t finish this series even though it was semi enjoyable, at least the 1st two books were. This one got a little drab— when the person came in about halfway through as a potential new love interest for the MC, I was really rooting for that. That’s when I know I’m bored with the current relationship 😂.
I am actually enjoying this series but Sierra is getting on my last nerve and Hunter needs to man up. Also, the author made a slight mistake. I'm not going to say because it would be a spoiler alert and I not like that. Also, they need to be 50/50 when it comes to common sense and emotions. I also find it funny that they don't realize just because Hunter can't say, "I love you" doesn't he he's not loving her...beyond his wolf. His actions even w/o his wolf coming to the surface you can see his love.
So book 3 finds our favorite couple searching for an end to Hunter's curse. This book as full action as the Alphas Trials continue and Sierra's power grows. There were also plenty of twists and turns as Sierra uncovers several family secrets both between her witch and Mystic ancestry. The plot thickens and now I have to wait for book 4 due out around the end of the month...CURSES!!!
Great continuation of the Mateborne story, we pick up with Sierra and Hunter searching for her grandmother so she can release the dreaded curse that keeps Hunter from completing the mate bond. It was good but felt like it started to drag halfway through the book. I was hoping the trials would be more exciting but a lot of the trials were skipped over.
This book is excellent. It carries on seamlessly from the previous book. The book is well written and the characters and story were well developed. I loved the character dynamics and watching them change and develop through the books. The story was action packed and full of twists and turns. It had hot chemistry, suspense, intrigue and emotion. I’d highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next book in this series!!
