This is the story that follows Brianna and Adam's dark love. Brianna is fast losing herself to Adam's madness. His obsession really taking its toll on their relationship.
WARNING: THIS BOOK IS RECOMMENDED FOR READERS 18 YEARS AND OLDER. IT CONTAINS SEX AND SUBMISSION AND VIOLENCE.
I began writing dark erotica in 2014. I found that it really irritated me how authors bring down their male leads and make love stories sappy. I continually began to feel unfulfilled with reading. So I wrote a book how I like to read it. I find that although my stories are full on and seem a bit much, so many of my readers have connected to them. I try to tone it down ever so often in my books, but I find I write better the harder the material I write about.
I love the Bach’s. This family of brothers, cousins, and Uncle continue to put the “f-u-n “, in dysfunctional. But, it makes me love them even more.
Adam has been tormenting Bri since her brother’s death. Bri just needs him to give up those other women. I loved how strong Bri is in this one. After having his son, she gets tired of living with him and his OW, and issues an ultimatum.
Honestly, I checked the page number and was getting nervous that things were going to Hale fast. Luckily, Adam admits he can’t live without her and he is only happy with her. So, bye bye skanks.
On a side note, I totally fell in love with Kalani in this book. If you recall, she married Ishmael in book 4. She is relentless and did not let these guys get away with anything, as she stands up for Bri. Loved the girl power going on with these two. To top it off, more giggles from me every time she is around Moses’ daughter; their interactions are hilarious.
This is one of my favorite books, so far. I love this couple and the angsty ride for their HEA was worth it!!!!
Ok, I have to admit that I wasn’t going to read this second instalment of Adam and Brianna’s story after reading, and hating, book 1 in the series where we’re first introduced to their fractious relationship. But, alas, I relented because my book group wanted to see how the author addresses the very serious issue of domestic violence. Unfortunately, I’m completely appalled at how it is all handled.
Firstly, Adam and Bri’s relationship continues to deteriorate after their first book. He still physically, verbally, and emotionally abuses her throughout their relationship and even puts a gun to hear head, threatening to kill her. He actually always threatens to kill her, he humiliates her, and uses what is essentially sexual violence to control her. Adam even hits her during her early pregnancy, and rapes her after she gives birth to their baby whilst his girlfriend, the OW, looks on. Wtf is wrong with this author? She romanticises domestic abuse and violence against women. 🤬
Bri is essentially a brutalised girlfriend who forgives Adam without much hesitation after he beats her black and blue, knocks her out, humiliates her, rapes her, and continually cheats on her. She is severely traumatised and has the mindset of a battered woman who is brainwashed to believe that she can’t live without her man, the abuser. This is common in domestic abuse cases where the victim often takes her abuser back only for him to kill her days, weeks, months, or years down the track. Adam is sick and won’t change without a lot of help.
The manner in which the author fails to address the violence perpetuated against Bri is truly infuriating. At the end of the book Bri basically forgives everything Adam has done after he “promises” that he won’t cheat and will treat her better. All WITHOUT therapy. I call bullshit because the man has some very serious issues and needs treatment for his violent disorders.
This is NOT a dark romance book. This NOT a relationship where an HEA is ever possible. This is a story about serious domestic abuse, painted to look like romance. The real HEA would be one where Adam is imprisoned for his crimes against Bri, and Bri finds true love with a caring, understanding man who is devoted to her and her child.
