Humanity is all but vanished from the world but for one android named Dawn, her world is a single room; behind the door is fear and death... at least if she believes the man who left her there, Mr. Ford. But it's another man, Nathaniel; whose stories and curiosity sparks Dawn to brave the unknown and move behind the door... and into the sun. This may be a quick read by Seth Rain but it nevertheless is thought provoking in asking us to go beyond what is comfortable and embrace all we have yet understand. Highly recommended.

I was given this story and found it to be meaningful and sad. Meaningful because it highlighted the ugliness of human behaviour and sad for the same reason.

Dawn has been left in a cellar - I don't give spoilers. However, this short story packs a punch. Themes such as slavery, selfishness and even evil, alongside kindness, the soul and decency had an irony when thinking about human v machine. Read this to understand my point.

Cleverly done.

This short read is a different one for me but I was really struck by the writing by this new to me author.

Dawn, an android who cannot talk, is found in a room shes unable to leave. When Nathaniel finds her he wants to help her.

I think that even if the genre isn't for you this one is rather touching and I found it to be intriguing and one that stayed with me after reading.

AN INTRIGUING PREQUEL.

Dawn is sitting on a chair.

A stranger enters the room, asks her a question.

But Dawn can’t talk...

-----------

An intriguing prequel that tells the meeting of two different beings in a dystopian world.

Many unanswered questions that make you want to read more.

This short story was an intriguing read. Dawn is a synth who is discovered in a cellar by Nathaniel. Her previous owner had kept her there and told her how dangerous it would be to go outside. Even though it was a short story it is still an engaging read with a few surprises along the way.
