The Quantum Hall Effect: TIFR Infosys Lectures

This is a course on the quantum Hall effect, given in TIFR, Mumbai. The first four chapters require only basic quantum mechanics; the final two chapters need techniques from quantum field theory. The full lecture notes are around 230 pages. They are also available to download at the arXiv. Please do email me if you find any typos or mistakes.

About the author

David Tong is a professor of theoretical physics at DAMTP in Cambridge, a fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, and joint recipient of the 2008 Adams Prize. He was a postdoc at the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics and an adjunct professor at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR).He is currently also a Simons Investigator. His main research interest is in Quantum Field Theory
