This bossy hockey star is playing for keeps with his publicist's heart.

Gray
As a hockey star, women expect me to be a player.
But dating was never on my agenda until team management made me participate in a Win a Date contest.
My date was a disaster...and now I need a new publicist.
Mine sold the humiliating photos to the press.
Enter Camila Gomes, the curvy Brazilian goddess I can't resist.
She doesn't like athletes and doesn't date clients.
But I'll find a way to prove I'm worth the hassle.
Because there's no way I'm letting this woman get away.

Camila
I knew nothing good would come of agreeing to Kelsey Lane's plea to represent Gray Larsen.
He's hot, bossy, and an athlete...three things I've never handled well.
But when he smiles at me, I go up in flames.
Maybe I should have taken him up on his offer to fire me.
Because the more time I spend around him, the harder it is to tell him no.

Warning
This older hockey player knows exactly what he wants…the heart of his younger, curvy publicist! If you enjoy laugh-out-loud hockey romance, over-the-top declarations, and steamy-sweet romance, you'll love Gray and Camila's story! As always, Nichole Rose titles come complete with a sticky-sweet and guaranteed HEA.

I'm kinda glad we are back in this world!!! Fast pace and pretty yummy.

Gary has a bad reputation in finding a publicist since he fires them and for good reason but he has been blacklisted from that group in being difficult to work for. But he's getting a new one and her name is Camillia and he's already feeling some sparks so it doesn't take him long to try to sweet talk her, but Camilla has a rule no dating athletes since one caused her her sister.. but those walls come down pretty quick when he tries to learn another language for her and goes on a boy scout trip for her to show he's worthy of being with her as a client and personal..

I died laughing that he told her he uhh caught poison ivy on the camping trip on his butt 🤣😂 poor gary... beside the sweet romance we get more secondary characters I wanna see Theo and his maid.. and we see the drama that caused him to fire his last publicist.

No ow/om drama, no cheating, Slight secondary character, sexy times, Virgin gal and no manwhore celibate

Men don’t talk like this, even fictional men don’t talk like this. Honestly the “sexy” dialogue was so over the top I think I nearly gaged.

I’ll admit I was looking for a male/female smutty quick read and this book delivered, however, only pages into the characters meeting they were already planning a life together?!? Also the virgin factor was very cringey.

Anyway, skip this novel the sex scenes aren’t worth the dialogue cringe. Better luck on finding the next one I guess.

I’m not even surprised anymore when I give a Nichole Rose book a five star rating. They are basically my default setting for everything she does. I love she connects even these multi-author series books into her universe. She always has me waiting for more. Gray and Camila were a great couple. Gray is absolutely my new book boyfriend. Nerdy AND sporty?! One man should not be allowed such hotness. Did I mention that he is also hilarious? Great read, highly recommend.

I liked this better than the first book in the series. It's a very particular style of book - quick smutty read with focus on relationship to exclusion of all else and that may or may not work for you. I liked the humor in this book and there was chemistry and a wee bit of tension to keep the story going instead of just settling into HEA. I can't speak to the Brazilian representation for the heroine since I'm Latinx but not Brazilian. However, I do find it othering to always italicize non-English words, but that's me. I'm still up in the air with this author, but I'm willing to give the next book a shot...eventually.

She's my favorite kind of everything.

Another great story. Love how these men fall fast and hard. It's so refreshing to read a sports romance where it's exactly that, a romance, a good and actual love story and not a story about the athletes being disgusting pigs with OW most of their lives until they meet the h and suddenly stop their playboy ways. Hey, no judgement, if you like those stories, that's fantastic, it's just not for this girl. And that's not what we're getting so far with this series. So, if you enjoy reading about athletes, in this case, hockey players who are good, honerable men, quirky but strong, intelligent women and a great love story with all the emotions, I think this series is for you.

Adrian’s sister, Camila finally gets her man!
This was so cute.
Gray is adorable and fun but still has that classic Nichole Rose bossy, possessive, alpha man qualities that I’ve always loved.

It was short and sweet and sexy and exactly what I needed today.
I’m always looking forward to more from this author. Can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.

safe hockey romance

I absolutely love safe sports stories! Often they are hard to find but Nichole Rose delivered! Safe and steamy, a definite winner for me

-no cheating
-no Om drama
-ow drama from a date that he had gone on prior to meeting heroine. She did not make an appearance on page at all
-no others after meeting
-virgin heroine/ long celibate hero
-ok epilogue 5 years

I love Gray and Camila!! You gotta love the athlete geek with the best of intentions! She's a kick ass publicist trying to save his reputation! Will he win your heart, and prove he's not a player? Also as a side note there is some steamy scenes with dirty talk in Portuguese! One of my favorite bits!

Loved Gray and Camila. Gray put his foot in his mouth the first time he met Camila and reinforced her ideas about pro athletes. Gray set out to prove to Camila that he was more than just a pro hockey player, in fact, he was more a nerd than anything. But goodness Gray was a mess and that just made him even more endearing in his pursuit to show Camila that he was a good guy!

Story of Gray and Camila. Gray falls for his newest publicist after a bad date goes viral. It's love at first sight. Family is a little wary after a past incident in her family with athletes. Things take off, they fall in love and live their HEA. 4 stars

Reviewed for AudioGals. 2.5 stars (the narration was good).
Narrated by Hannah Altagracia & Stephen Borne

The blurb for Ice Breaker looked fun. I enjoy sports romance and I like to try new-to-me authors and narrators from time to time. Novella length audiobooks are a good entry point I think – they give a good taster but with less commitment.

Ice Breaker started well. The narration is solidly good without necessarily being stellar; Stephen Borne has a pleasant raspy huskiness to his voice and his female characters were well done. Hannah Altagracia had a believable enough hero voice without it being super deep and she delivered on Camila’s wide-eyed innocence.

Gray Larsen is a hockey player for the Nashville Predators and needs a new publicist. He punched his previous publicist in the face after he (the publicist) leaked footage of Gray and a woman with whom he was on a date which made the woman look bad. The Predators’ publicist (who for some reason doesn’t represent him and can’t?) suggests Camila Gomes.

Camila doesn’t date athletes. Her sister was cheated on (and worse) by an athlete and subsequently died when her car drove off a bridge. It may have been an accident or the result of her mental distress. Nobody can know. Camila’s beloved adoptive brother was also an athlete and he’s clearly not a jerk so I must say the “no athletes” rule didn’t make a lot of sense to me. As it happened, that rule didn’t last a week after meeting Gray.

Gray and Camila are introduced by the team’s publicist and Gray is immediately smitten. I don’t mind a bit of insta-lust and the notion that a guy could take one look at a woman and say “I’m going to marry that woman” is admittedly romantic to me, so I was prepared to go with it. Camila and Gray clearly have matching sparks flying between them and a lot of chemistry.

But things went off the rails from there.

In no particular order, here is a non-exhaustive list of things I yelled *out loud* at the audiobook as I listened:

“Oh come on now! You don’t even know each other!”

This was after Camila (heretofore a virgin) was in the midst of sex with Gray for the first time and tells him she loves him. They have known each other less than a week and have spent less than 6 hours in each other’s company. This consisted of the meeting in the publicist’s office, some text messages through the week and one date where they played video games and pool for a couple of hours before having sex.

“You’ve only seen her TWO times!”

This was in the response to Gray thinking “she looks more beautiful than I’ve ever seen her”. (My husband pointed out, unhelpfully, that his statement could nonetheless be true.)

“WHAT???!!!”

This was a response to Gray telling Camilla, the very first time they had sex, that he just knew she didn’t want him to use a condom because she wanted to have his babies and that he wanted her to stay in bed with him until she was pregnant. There are So. Many. Things wrong with that statement. Not okay Gray.

Sometimes Gray thinks of Camila as a strong, smart, independent woman deserving of respect and autonomy. Other times he thinks of her as…. not.

“Can romance please be done with this?”

Was in response to Camila’s “will it fit?” (While I’m at it, the hymen is on the OUTSIDE not way up in there.)

“Creepy and gross!”

This was after Gray saw his jizz leaking from Camila and thought he’d like her to wear it all the time so that everyone would know “she’s mine”. *shudders*

Apart from the brief epilogue, the story takes place within an eight day period which is lightning fast. Like insta-lust, I don’t mind a bit of insta-love, but I can’t say I felt like the pair knew each other really so I’m not sure I bought it. Camila moves in after the first date – the same date where she told him she loved him and he told her he wanted to get her pregnant as soon as possible. According to the epilogue which takes place 5 years later, she was pregnant within about 3 months. They are still happily together after five years, so there’s that.

What did save the experience for me was the narration. As I said above, I enjoyed the performances even though I was not super-in-love with the text. I especially liked Stephen Borne’s narration – the difference between his natural husky, deep voice and the female character voices was impressive and there was no hint of caricature. I’d happily listen to him again. I liked Hannah Altagracia’s narration too, but not quite as much. I would not necessarily seek out a book because she was reading it but equally, it would not be any barrier for me to see her name listed.

There is definitely an audience for stories like Ice Breaker. The novella has a rating of 4.16 on Goodreads. But that audience is not me.

I love these steamy, sweet shorter books!

Reading these steamy, sweet shorter stories is like getting a full book in a shorter time. If you find a good author, which I think Nichole Rose is, you get the full experience without investing as much time. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good, long, juicy novel but sometimes I just don’t have the time. I don’t always want to wait in between reads to find out what’s going to happen. I usually stay up all night to find out anyway and that’s not always good.

Gray has been called to Kelsey’s office. Nobody on the hockey team, no matter how big they are, ever wants to be called, into her office. Everyone is scared of all, five feet nothing of her. No, let me rephrase that, terrified of her. Yet, there, Gray sits telling, Kelsey, no. This is about her, getting him, a new publicist. Kelsey is the team publicist and she believes since Gray’s last one quit he needs a new one. Gray says, ‘Not true he was fired.’

She states, ‘You punched, him.’ Gray says, ‘This should have been a strong indication, that he was fired.’ Kelsey had come up with the WIN-A-DATE CONTEST to boost game attendance and a small amount to help charity. It was him and a fellow teammate. His teammate has found love, but his date was a major disaster.

A lot of, women have this warped idea of, hockey players being down, to lay anyone, and everyone and, they treat us accordingly. But, Gray is nowhere near, being a manwhore. His date tried, to go down on him in the elevator, after getting sloppy drunk. After getting her, to stand back up in the elevator, and almost into a cab, she tosses her cookies on him, which triggers him, to toss his on the sidewalk, and her new shoes.

Wow, what fun. She was not happy and hits him in the privates. Of course, it was caught on film, and all over the net, and tv. His past publicist, thought having a cameraman following them, in secret would be a great way, to drum up a little more publicity. NOT. As if not enough, he releases the whole video. Hence, the punch in the nose.

Kelsey decides the perfect person for the job, is her best friend, since freshman year of college, Camila. She is Brazilian and curvy. She dislikes athletes and doesn't date clients. Gray’s smile causes a fire inside her, his dorkiness makes her smile, and his intelligence makes her find him extremely sexy. The chemistry is off the charts with these two. This is a fast read. I think Kelsey spread her magic.

Gray and Camila are perfect together!

Gray is a hockey player and is aside being super yummy, he’s also nerdy. I love that he has this geeky side and is an athlete. I feel like that’s so rare! Gray really hurt his image after punching his last publicist for something gone horribly wrong. After that, finding someone who wants to help him regain somewhat control over his image has been next to nonexistent. Until Kelsey asks one of her really good friends…

Enter Camila.

She’s beautiful and talented but she and her family have been through a traumatic event, one that has really changed her outlook on athletes. She has trouble opening her heart and trust up to people because of it. She’s considering taking a chance on helping Gray with his public image. The minute he sees her though, he’s instantly captivated by her and also kinda puts his foot in his mouth.

I really love these two! He’s nerdy and at doesn’t always express himself clearly but is so sweet and growly at the same time (at least when it comes to Camila) but he’s an amazing guy. She’s sweet, sassy and beautiful and she doesn’t let people walk all over her. Gray and his nerdy and growly self turned him into one of my absolute favorite man main characters of Nichole’s! I love the nickname he gives Camila and that he decides to learn the language her family speaks as soon as he meets her! So swoon-worthy! Another amazing 5-star read for me!

Love it!! I just couldn't put it down. Nice, quick read, Short and Sweet. I was laughing so hard at some of the thing they said to each other. With a wonderful HEA!! Another one of my favorites!!

Gray needs a new publicist, Camila doesn't know if she wants to represent him. Camila meets Gray to go over what he needs in a publicist. Gray thinks Camila is a knockout and goes as far as tells her, then asks her out on a date. Camila doesn't date clients or athletes, which Gray is both, but Camila is also attracted to Gray. Gray has a plan to get Camila to go out with him with the reluctant help from Kelsey. Gray does some volunteering with the Boy Scouts. Camila calls Gray and he wins her over mostly by him learning Portuguese, the language Camila also speaks. After their date Gray ask Camila to go to the next away game with him, he can't be without her. Camila decides after finding out that Gray's Win a Date is going to speaking to the public and she has to do damage control to go with him. Camila calls her mother to let her know she has found the one and Gray talks to Camila's mother to explain some bad publicity maybe coming out but he is innocent. After the interview it's found out that Gray really didn't do anything wrong it was his last publicist who wanted Gray to be the bad boy. Gray talks to a reporter at the same time the interview is and lets it be known he is going to marry Camila and they have an awesome HEA!

Absolutely loved this!

Gray is the nerdy member of the Predators hockey team, and a bit of a disaster. After yet another negative headline, he seeks a new publicist. When Camila walks in, it's love at first sight. But Camila has family demons to overcome before she can even consider dating an athlete.

While at the heart of it this is the usual OTT Alpha novella, Gray might be my favourite male character in this genre this year. He's hilarious, self-deprecating, and an absolute sweetheart. I really loved his connection with Camila, and their chemistry was palpable from the start (and not in a creepy way). I really loved Camila, and the attention to detail about her culture and language. BUT, as a linguist, I found Gray's sudden fluent Portuguese, even mid-intimate scene implausible. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy it. Just that it could have been cuter (and more realistic) if he occasionally fumbled with the wrong word etc (as all language students do, especially after less than a week). Still, he was cute. The other I'd like to address in these stories is the routine of hockey players. I know it's fiction, but as a fan it gets a little frustrating reading about flights late in the day of a game, and players sleeping in, when pro hockey players are usually training early every morning. Those niggles aside, I loved it.

Mocinha Brasileira

Super-Hiper-Ultra-Mega-Power recomendado!

this is so sweet and funny.

i like that gray (32) is a hot nerd and that he's awkward at times. he is so down bad for camila and i swoon a lot with his lines. this guy will do everything for her to make sure she's happy. he even learned portuguese so he can express his love and camila. if you don't find it romantic when a man learned another language for her girl, i don't know what is.

i liked camila (24) too, just like the fmc from book 1 she's strong willed and can stand her ground. reading them being awkward together is so adorable but what i loved the most is when they have real conversations and getting to know one another. they were both open and mature when dealing with some possible issues and there's nothing i root more than a couple who work things out together.

overall, i'm really enjoying this series. each book had me laughing so much with the mcs lines and banters. even the side characters were funny too.

For the most part I enjoyed it though I will say there were some similarities between this one and the first book in the series "Cutie Pie". The other thing I didn't enjoy was the Portuguese. Don't get me wrong, it was cute and I have nothing against it. I just don't know Portuguese and the author didn't translate all of it. I also didn't feel like looking it up to know what they were saying but all in all I loved everything else. I am not sure who else the author plans to write about but part of me is hoping Theo is somewhere there too.

Oh one thing that didn't really make sense to me was that he told her would teach her (you know, since she was a virgin), but he literally only slept with one person, once and felt guilty or whatever, so I'm not really sure if the author forgot or it was just him meaning he'll teach her what he likes, even though again, he's literally only had sex once lol

Such a fun read! I found myself laughing out loud so much in this story. While nothing can change my mind on West and Laney’s story being my favorite, Gray and Camila come in second. The first meeting has all the perfect heat I I’ve come to expect from this author. Nichole delivers on the steam but also the hilarity and heart.
Gray has been typecast as this bad guy after punching his publicist. Camila comes in to replace him and see if she can redeem his image. While he is determined to pursue her, she hesitant after a horrible past with her sister. I love the determination, the nerdiness and hotness Gray brings. I love the strength, sweetness and heart Camila has. Great read, can’t wait to see what next! Especially Kris and Kelsey!

“She's my favorite kind of everything. She's sassy and smart, but sweet as can be.”

Gray and Camila are so adorable and wonderful together! NHL hockey player, Gray, is in desperate need of a new publicist and not just anyone will do. But he wasn’t expecting for his world to spin out of control when he first meets Camila and totally botches it! He’s so goofy! She’s a curvy, feisty Latina woman who is trying hard to keep her distance from all athletes. But his alpha bossy, growly, awkward, and nerdy personality completely disarms her when he pursues her with the sweetest and sexiest of gestures! Absolutely stunning instalove story with the best HEA!! This story had me laughing and swooning hard, it’s so good!

Gray and Camila were perfect together!! Gray is a hockey player slash nerd extraordinaire and Camila is Adrian's sister from Falling Hard and an incredible publicist. Which Gray is definitely in need of after his Win A Date goes horribly wrong which he doesn't understand since he just wants to play hockey. This was a wonderful story one of Nichole Rose's best!! I truly hope that we get the rest of the guys from the teams story especially Kelsey's. I don't want to ruin it for anyone with spoilers but you must read this book if you're a fan of romance and you were a fan of the Big Bang Theory. I can't wait to read the next book that Nichole Rose writes since ALL of her books are AWESOME!!!

Gray is dealing with backlash after his Win a Date contest ended in disaster and he punched is publicist. He has public image problem and needs a new one but it is hard to find one willing to work with him until Kelsey talks Camila into meeting with Gray. Even when their first meeting ends in disaster, Gray hitting on Camila and saying thinks to her that are triggers, she finds him endearing.

The story is filled with chemistry between the two characters which all leads to some hot scenes. You find yourself rooting for Gray, hoping he can convince Camila to go out with him. I have read all the books by this author and cannot wait for others.

I adored Gray and Camila! Gray is so awkwardly sweet, nerdy and a good guy. He has a little bit of a situation involving his jerk publicist. They parted ways so now he needs a new publicist. When he meets Camila he fumbles things and it is beyond adorable. He starts immediately working to show Camila that he isn't a jerk athlete. Camila doesn't do relationships much less with professional athletes. But Gray's personality and the effort he puts into getting to know all about her wins her over. I have been a devoted fan of Ms Rose for only a short time but I fall more in love with her writing with every book. Ice Breaker was everything I could have wanted it to be and exactly what I needed. 10 stars for Camila and Gray!

Camila and Gray

Gray is a hockey player with attitude, he goes through publists firing them - until he gets blacklisted. As a crisis emerges from the last one Kelsey finds a new one for him. Camila doesn't date athletes and has nothing to do with them. Gray will need to break down all her barriers - one by one -

Loved it! This is such a sweet instalove romance filled with plenty of chemistry between the characters! The characters are likeable relatable and have interesting in-depth personalities and background stories that hooked me into the story. Told from dual POVs reveals intimately their thoughts, feelings, and emotions as they explore their relationship. There's an epilogue and a HEA 💓

Nichole Rose does it again and again with her writing! She hooks you within the first page with hot hunky alpha males and the sassy (sometimes shy) females they can't live without. Gray and Camila's story is one of my favorites. From the moment Gray meets Camila and knows he has to have her and the lengths he goes to to make her see he's all in. I loved how Camila gave him a shot even though she has sworn off professional athletes due to what happened to her sister. This book was hilarious because Gray is so OTT nerdy and Alpha at the same time. It totally works. I love that the characters are intertwined with other stories and can't wait for Kris and Kelsey's story!

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own. What happens when two people meet & unexpectedly fireworks erupt? This was a rather an astonishingly sweet, page turner/swipe left (depending on device) that kept me ensnarled in it’s tale till the very end. Embark on a romantic whirlwind where love at first sight exists and fireworks occur from simple touches. A well worth reading heartwarming romance. Make you laugh out loud, heartwarming, sexy tale. Only way to find out what happens after the first sight & first brushes of touch is by grabbing your copy of this book. Don’t wait to get your hands on this story! Well worth the read but not surprising since I have loved everything I’ve read from Nichole Rose to date.

OH dear I loved this book. I laugh at all the cute one liners and the nerd jokes. I about choked on my coffee when I read the boyscout call. Over all great read, it is a safe, fun, HOT, sexy read. That isn't over dramatic but just enough that gets you the warm feeling when it all comes to the end. If you read Cutie Pie you will understand this book so much. BUT if you didn't read cutie pie it is ok, b/c the author recaps it, so you aren't going to be lost. But trust me you want to read cutie pie. BUT get this one, sit back and don't eat or drink while reading. It is for your own safety.
