The pace stays consistent with the first two parts, maintaining the level of erotic tension and the sense of anticipation. A great cliffhanger ending (-spoiler alert-) and an interesting event just prior to this. You get the sense of things gradually slipping further away from the cuckold. There is also exploration of how isolated from Laura and her lover Philip feels, how she keeps her communications with John Garra private from him. This distancing is an emotional/mental aspect that rings true if you have been in this type of relationship that you don't often see conveyed in cuckold erotica. Its inclusion gives added depth.
Then there is the teasing and tormenting of her beta hubby, the condescension with which she now (inevitably) treats him that further cements his position. This distances but also pulls him in as the "hubby" is basically pulled this way and that like a puppet. Interestingly at the end of part three, Laura seems in part about to return to him. We read of her feelings moving back as Garra temporarily disappoints her and they are even going out to dinner like man and wife. But as that is about to happen Laura gets a call from Garra and immediately cancels the plan.
There has been a lot of praise for Molly Sands skills and its maybe these inclusions that make the stories work even when you can't put your finger on why. It also tempers some of the romantic fiction leanings, for example the way characters routinely refer to each other as "my love" etc, so helps an unconventional relationship stay engaging.
As a side point the "raising of hopes"/unsurety idea might have been even more interesting if it had lasted longer and extended the angst... (was Laura just toying with him... was she moving closer back to him albeit in his reduced status etc...). It was a suspenseful idea and you felt your heart sinking with the character, so probably could have worked for longer. But maybe there are more important things in store.

This was a great story and a very erotic book. And only having 3 characters w was a plus. Molly can sure tell a great story.

I think I have reached the end of the line with the series. While I love Molly Sands writing, this story as it has progressed had gotten too predictable. I won't move on to the next book in the series. However, if you are a fan of well written femdom stories, Molly Sands is one of the best.
