I used to love this series.

The last few releases have been without … heart!? I don’t know what but there is something missing which was there with the first few books. It could be that my enthusiasm for the series dimmed, or it could be that they just don’t have the same emotion they used to.

I’m not sure what to say about this one. It had some good bits but I kept waiting for that moment when I would be sucked into the story and it never happened. I didn’t feel connected to the characters.

Also, I wish that the heroine Tasha wouldn’t have had the same reaction and character development as the other heroines (not all but most) in this series. She was a modified, enhanced human, and I wished we would have seen her use that and her intelligence in this story.

I'm fairly sure I've actually finished it but just don't remember. Definitely need more in the series though, especially regarding that wild scientist man.

Full Circle💔Fight🔪🔫 for Love💘

ADULT Alpha Alien 👽Male Romance 💕and Adventure🚀
Orphan, Tasha💃💔, was abducted from 🌎Earth and physically altered to become a hellborg,💃🔪🔫👊💪 a killing machine in a human body. An assassin. To keep her under control, she is forced to be addicted to the highly addictive drug, Ambrosia.

She is sent to assassinate Kordolian Warriors, an almost impossible task. Instead she is captured by Lodan,🐺🔪🔫 huge silver, First Division Kordolian Warrior and ship pilot extraordinaire.

Lodan🐺🔪🔫 never understood his Division team mates fascination with human women, until Tasha💃💋...

This is a standalone novel although it would be best enjoyed by reading the whole series. Tasha💃💋🔪🔫 fights Lodan,🐺🍆⛲🔪🔫 which just makes him more enamored with possessing her. This novel is quite different from the others as Tasha 💃🔪🔫is a warrior in her own right, but her Achilles heel is her forced drug addiction by her handlers.

Love 💘these Kordolian Warriors🐺🔪🔫👊💪 and all of author Carven's novels 📚about them! Her books set the standard for Alpha Alien👽 Romance💕!
Check out all the series📚!

I totally love any of the books in Anna Carven's Darkstar Mercenaries series. So far I've been reading them in KU but may have to purchase the next one since I no longer have KU. The women in this series are strong. If they don't start out that way they certainly become that way. The alien men are hot, but very alien. The stories are well written and flow nicely. There are few if any typos. The characters are all very different and there's no mistaking one for the other. They don't merge into one in my mind. Locations and scenes are described so that you can easily picture them in your mind. Each book has it's own HEA for the main couple but there's always a little something that let's you know that there will be another book to follow.

Love it

You definitely should start from the beginning of the series, its worth it!!!! Lots of action and true mates connections, humor and just enough sorrow to make you empathize with the characters. This is one of my favorite series

Excellent!

An excellent addition to DarkStar Mercenaries. Makes me want to reread the entire series from the beginning. I love this new, unfolding threat and can’t wait to see how it all ends.

𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗯

Lodan Vorkan has been called many things in his lifetime—perfectionist, control-freak, monster.

As one of the Kordolian Military’s infamous First Division, he’s one of the most feared warriors in the Nine Galaxies.

As a pilot, his skill is unmatched.

He doesn’t like the unpredictable, and humans are exactly that.

One by one, he’s seen his brothers fall to these confounding creatures. Even the most battle-hardened and ruthless of them have succumbed to the Mating Fever.

Humans are trouble.

Humans bring chaos. Always.

When he encounters the strange human called Tasha, all his warning alarms go off. She isn’t anything like the other humans. She’s faster; stronger—artificially so. She has secrets; she tells lies.

A trail of blood-scent lingers around her.

She is not the kind of human he would imagine as his mate.

But Lodan’s control is about to be sorely tested—in more ways than one.

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄

Will she be able to find in herself to accept the hand offered …

I did not expect this book until a few more weeks, so what was my surprise when I received the author’s newsletter that it was right now available.
It turned upside down my reading schedule.
But there was no way I would let it sit on my shelves like the last one.
It was so good to be back to the Kordolian’s universe. Even more surprising that Tarak does not once and for all push the red button and wash his hands of the humans.
But yes, he has been a bit “humanized” thanks to his mate and their offspring.

But now is not his tale but Lodan’s, the unreal pilot, the one who flies them to all rescue missions. The master of order and a control-freak.
He dislikes surprises and he is in for one enormous when he joins his friend who is bringing back his mate to her family. The woman who awaits them is only part human, enhanced and while unable I bring a first division warrior down, she can do some damages and is quite unsettling. But she also hides a lot and trust nobody. As much as he does not trust her. But she brings out of him something he did not expect from himself. He thought he would select his mate, never did he envision this chaotic journey. But like all his kind, they find sustenance in mayhem and right the wrong done. He will stand by his mate and never let her go.
Tasha was robbed of her childhood, choices, will as a girl of nine. From there, she lived a nightmare, tortured, abused, changed. She became a tool in others’ hands. But those who control her went too far. She wants free to protect those she has left even if it means her demise. She anticipated retaliation but not the Kordolians who landed at the same place her family was living. Even more, to see them make her problems theirs. Nor did she foresee the alien who will shake all certitudes, even make her rethink her view of the male specie.

The author offers us a tale of healing, of finding order into upheaval and seing past one’s scars.
This is no linear tale, it has a lot of up and down, but from the moment Lodan holds Tasha’s hand, even if there are disruptions, she for the first time since long feels hope bubbling for maybe something else than darkness and death.

Well. Color me surprised. With the little bit we got of Tasha in Alexis's book, I did not like her and I was not looking forward to her book. But I actually really rather liked it. Tasha turned out to not be what I expected and was a character that worked for me.

As a child, Tasha was kidnapped and forced to undergo all sorts of terrible experiments and enhancements. She was turned into a killer and forced to become addicted to a powerful drug. But she always did her handler's bidding because they held the lives of her family over her head. That all came to an end when they had the ship that Alexis was on attacked and Tasha learned of her death. Now she's determined to get free of their hold and try to protect her remaining family. Which leads us to where Alexis's book overlaps with this one. Tasha not only unexpectedly comes in contact with the only race that could possibly save her life, but finds out her sister isn't actually dead. It's a lot to take in, but she's had to deal with worse.

Lodan has tagged along with Nythian when Alexis insists on finding her mother and brothers and making sure they're safe. On the ground, he is hit with a scent that immediately catches his attention. So it's not surprising that when he comes face to face with Tasha his mating fever is triggered. The only thing that seemed kind of random with Lodan was this whole thing with the ship. The ship's AI literally becomes jealous of how Lodan treats Tasha and tries to kill her. Now, sure it was interesting, and it was used to explain why Lodan was the best pilot they have, but was it necessary? Also seemingly completely random was the Avian alien's actions. Like, I really didn't see the point of any of it.

At first I wasn't sure how I felt about Tasha's constant need to punch and attack Lodan. As a person with violent tendencies myself (mostly with video games mind you), I even thought it was a bit much. But it did end up with these two coming together in a very believable way given their personalities. In fact, I think Lodan ended up claiming his mate much faster than anyone else because of it.

While the speed at which Tasha ends up trusting Lodan and the other Kordolians is unbelievably fast considering her huge trust issues, I liked her character because she trusted them. I had gone into this expecting her to be some hardass, stuck-up, won't listen to anybody because she has been physically enhanced and knows how to fight so can take of herself kind of character....but she wasn't. And that thrilled me. This drug that she's addicted to slowly degrades her physically and will eventually kill her if she doesn't get another dose. So she knows that she's too weak to do much good and she actually lets people help her and does what is asked of her. Unfortunately, this drug was something that was supposed to have been destroyed and banned because of its devastating effects on Kordolians. How these people on Earth have had it for so long is a mystery. Just another reason for the Kordolians to wipe them out. And oh what bloody fun that was for them.

The ending was good with a very typical Kordolian raid on the compound. Tarak even joined them, which was fun. This book ran pretty perpendicular to the last one, time frame wise, so I don't really think much changed or we learn more about the enemy. I'm sure that's to change pretty quick though with only 2 books left in the series.

Adore these Kordolians !!!

It is beyond delightful when I can read about those Kordolians !!!
I was swept away in Tasha and Lodan' s story.....
Lodan is one of the infamous First Division warriors. Those crazy , enhanced warriors that are extremely difficult to kill......VERY !!

In this book , Loan is on a mission to figure out Tasha. She is the adopted sister of Alexis, Nythian's mate, Lodan's brother. Nythian, Alexis , and Lodan find themselves on her home island of Reunion, out in the Indian Ocean.
Its Hot !! Very Hot . Lodan's hates it. But this is where Alexis is trying to find her family. So here they are.
Once there , they encounter Tasha, who had been kidnapped as a young girl of about 11yrs old. No one has heard from her since. And here she turns up !! And she is much different then when she left. Not just older......Different.
As this story unfolds , we learn what happened to Tasha after she was kidnapped, and what she has been forced to do. Lodan feels that it is His responsibility to protect his brother and Alexis from harm. But other then that, he doesn't even LIKE humans. Right ??
Right !!! Humans are unpredictable, and chaotic. Totally not for him !! He likes smooth sailing . Order. From what he has seen, there IS NO order with humans......
But as Lodan tries to figure out the mysterious Tasha, other extreme matters come to the front, and Lodan must depend on his icy control to help him through these situations.
Too bad he can't seem to get a grip on it !!!

I thought this story was simply fabulous !! I love reading about these extreme warriors and the mating fever!! I love Zharek's nutty- professor persona, and how he slips it on and off when he is working. Love this small little tidbits about the ZOR and how those ancients teachings keep popping up now. Love TARAK in any form !!!! Love how these Kordolians love their females, and would do anything for them. So looking forward to the next book in this phenomenal series !!!

**MINOR SPOILERS**
This book is part of a plethora of books, novellas, and at least two spin off series related to Dark Planet Warriors. I do not recommend it as a standalone. It is the fifth book of the second series, DarkStar Mercenaries, though there is a novella, Interlude, that fits between the two series that is considered a prequel to the second series.
Tasha has been forced to become a cyborg like killer. The people who forced her to be modified have kept her under control. She was also given a drug, Ambrosia, that will kill her if she does not continue to receive it.
Lodan, a Korodolian alien, was also modified to be genetically improved. He also has a bond with spaceships that make him an incredible pilot, but he senses that there might be an addictive component to the interaction.
Both Tasha and Lodan bond with each other. It was very touching how Lodan was able to help Tasha through her adjustment to freedom and working through her pain and anger. He was terrific and I enjoyed this story a lot.
The pace of the book is fast. The point of view alternates between Tasha and Lodan.
Tarak, the leader of the Kordolians and hero of 3 of the books in the prior series as well as a couple short stories/novellas, appears in this book. He continues to be awesome.
I think it would be nice for the author to include a reference list in the books. Included could be the names of the different male and female main characters, planets mentioned, aliens mentioned, and maybe a few word translations (siv, etc) that the Kordolians use.
I plan to read the next book.

Interesting new plot...

Anna Carven does a good job with keeping the stories interesting, mixing up the plots and moving pretty seamlessly from one book to the other. It helps tremendously to know the characters and their backstory. The books move along at a good pace and the Kordolians make the books worth reading. The guys, the plot, the push and pull between the governments, and the off world enemies make the series worth reading. These guys are loyal, honest , no nonsense guys that have truly mastered the art of war and strategy. They are known in the many universes as deadly and merciless. Now they consider the earth their planet and they protect it from other aliens who want to enslave earth inhabitants. But of course, earth's government does not believe the danger they are in. Some alien groups turn right around when they learn the earth is protected by the Kordolians. Some try to operate under the table using government folk who want to make money regardless of the danger or the alien agenda. Syndicates, rotten politicians and corporations with no morality... it's in these books. The Kordolians protect the earth because several of them have mated with earth women. Of course they love the beauty on this planet... beautiful sunshine, mountains, changes in the season, variety of plants, and flowers. They had never seen any place quite like earth. I'm looking forward to what's next.

An augmented lady and the superstar First Division pilot are up and...things aren't easy. Not that I expected them to be. I mean, Tasha was augmented against her will as a child and has done everything she can to keep her remaining family safe. Lodan is First Division and they're not known for taking the easy path on anything.

So, yeah. These two have a few speed bumps to get past. Tasha's distrust in everyone (for real. Being kidnapped and experimented on as a kid kind of caused some long term trust issues she's working on getting past) is one of the big ones. She's been on her own in a hostile situation for so long, the idea that she can lean on Lodan and his First Division brothers throws her. Throw in her kidnappers' way of controlling her and she's VERY slow to let down her guard.

Meanwhile, Lodan wasn't looking for his biologically compatible mate, but he's fascinated by Tasha from the first. Fighting against his instincts is only the first of his issues. He also has a persnickety AI to contend with. Plus, there's the group who stole and abused Tasha and put her in a terrible position. In other words, Lodan has quite a bit on his plate and his mating instincts aren't making things easier.

A reunion, a few answers, a surly AI, a well-planned incursion, and a couple who smolder whenever they get close. *thumbs up*

I hope this series never ends! 💖🔥

Tasha is a beautiful strong woman made to be a deadly weapon. Taken from her home as a child and turned into flesh and metal and train ed to kill on orders. All she wants is to find a way out and protect the remaining family who thinks she's dead . On her desperate flight to freedom and her quest to protect the ones she's loves she runs head long into a first division Kordolian warrior Lodan. Lodan knows just what Tasha is going through the empire did the same to him and his other first division brothers. As he gets to know his fierce little human his desire grows and the mating fever claims him. He will do all in his power to save his mate and kill those responsible liable for caring to hurt and destroy the innocence of what belongs to him. I do t want to give anything else away. This is a must read as is all the others in This series. The world building is superb the character development so good you start to to get they're not real and you begin to wish they were. Anna Carven you are the bomb!!!!
how do you do it? there are so many books in each of your series and you manage to squeeze every amazing involved line into magic and awesome difference.
each H and H have different problems and astoundingly different characters.
how you come up with these plotlines that are same same but different is boggling . this novel is so brilliant. even the steamy scenes was approached differently with these 2.
lodan and tasha are perfect together you could not have written a better suited couple.
the action and angst was more intense in this story than most of the other novels which suited the tone of the 2 H's and their character. wonderful!
J F Harding is just awesome bringing these characters to life. he is a solo narrator and although his female voice is still masculine, it's softer and doesnt detract at all from the storyline.
just love this series and the previous one...don't want it to end...do looking forward to Undying Stars

Typically cliche...and totally boring

I dont think I'll be reading anymore of this series unless its Tarek & Abby. Those two are the only stories worth reading. I started off liking Tasha's tough personality but as usual she eventually turned into a 13 yr old running on hormones. So the fearless badass became needy and desperate for a hot silver alien space elf. Same old, same old in EVERY story. So sick to death of needy chicks that instantly fall in love with the guy and it's HEA without any real angst and emotional struggle to love and trust someone. Its so absurdly unrealistic and ruins the story for me. I'm done with this kind of cliche romance...like I said, it gets old and boring. It would be nice if the guy actually had to prove himself BEFORE the girl falls head over heels in lust/love in less then 48 hours of meeting each other!!! Lol, just too dumb....

The kickass heroine in this one first appeared in Fractured Souls as the long lost sister. Well, we now know that in the intervening years, she was trained as an assassin and controlled with drugs.

Our hero has been around for a while, usually as the pilot whenever they go on a mission because of his mental connection with the AI on the ship. Then the AI got into a deadly tantrum when she sensed he had feelings for the heroine. And we learned more about the history of the empire.

It's another action-packed instalment.

Another Win

This is a stunning and beautiful addition to the series. I feel like I've been waiting forever for Lodan's story...so long I was scared it couldn't live up to my expectations. How wrong I was!

Tasha was a perfect /h and a perfect mate to Lodan. The storyline was expanded giving just enough clues to let us know more is coming, without giving away the mystery. Now I can't wait to see how Tarak brings the corrupt bad guys to heel in his Kordolian way.

Not for the first time I do have one complaint: the story wasn't long enough and I was forced to leave my favorite aliens far too soon.

Really.......

Soooooo I just finished another series that was disappointing. Maybe it is the timing and the pandemic but I was really hoping things would be better with these books. When I started this book I knew it would be little harder to catch up because these books are released way to far apart. This books was drawn out too much the who book was a week! Really! I'm not sure why I keep reading these books because I become more and more confused with each one. Each book they take on more and more problems when will it come to an conclusion. The only reason I keep reading is because I love the silver hotties

I was a little lost - but that is because of how long it had been since reading this series and so I was a little flustered on what was going on when. I really wish long series would add a little cheat sheet summary for those of us that don’t have the attention span to read sequentially.

In any case I enjoyed the book, not as much as others. I did find things were resolved quite suddenly - the ship, the base, the sudden truth bomb from family, there just wasn’t enough time to get invested because in a couple sentences it was over.

I am really looking forward to the next in the series - but will be taking a short break regardless.

A mate for the fierce Lodan Vorkan

This is book five in the Darkstat Mercenaries. The First Division team is still out saving Earth and her people. In this book Tasha is trying to get away from her captors and get off of the drugs that they are using to control her. On the other side, Alexis, Tasha’s sister, is looking for her adopted mom, sister, and brothers. Let me say that Lodan, the male lead to Tasha, is the winning character in this book. He is a wonderful mate and anticipates Tasha’s needs before her. Lodan just knows. A sweet romance for Lodan and Tasha. There is violence, kidnapping, fighting etc. Read On!

Bad book in a good series

Love the author and series but this book felt like a throw away the author put little effort into. Tasha is supposed to be a bad ass but there is very little action, she spends most the book in withdrawal, makes it hard to understand her as a character. London doesn’t make up the difference unfortunately as he is pretty cold most of the book. I gave it three stars because i liked some of the flight scenes, it wasn’t horrible, and because I read the whole thing, but for fans of this series like me, maybe just skip this one.

So worth the wait

I downloaded this when it was first offered. Then, like a little kid, I hoarded the dessert of my dreams, saving it for my birthday to open the pages and indulge in the best. I'll never grow tired of the fierce might of silver silent Kordolians, and the ultimate romance of their love with average human females.
So, sighing with replete pleasure, I will no doubt return once again to open the pages on the love story that started it all between Abby and Tarak. Thank you so much Anna, it was well worth the wait.

The adventure continues

Another dark and tantalising story as the kordolian adventure continues. The plot just keeps thickening, although Tasha and Lodan's story seemed short it was packed full of content. Would have loved to build on the sylthern story, technically Lodan could be just as mighty as Tarack. Turns out all Lodan needed to lighten up was his own special and enhanced human female. From her dark beginnings to having Lodan as her personal punch bag and guardian angel, I would say she got lucky or well deserved. Good story so far.

I own this on Kindle and Audible. It is not the best book in the series. The DSM spinoff/ continuation in unfortunately not written linearly; several of the books happen at the same time and this willy-nilly approach has lead to continuity errors galore. it is also much harder to feel any sort of plot progression with all of the overlap, which makes the read pacing feel slow. I much prefer the chronological approach of the original series, but, love the world so much I am sticking it out regardless.

Great characters

I have to say this is 1 of my favorites in all of the various Kordolian series. She's 1 of the few authors where I feel there is a significant difference in character from novel to novel. They're not just cookie cutouts living a different story in the same universe. These 2 were especially Unique in personality and history. Their back stories really gelled And It made for a Wonderful love story.

So exciting

I read this series years and years ago and I loved every single book. When it ended I was so sad. It is great to have a new story. Thank you so much, Anna, for writing a new book in the series. I love the Cordolians, the battles, the tech, the sad backstory and their dark romance. I especially loved the First Generation and Lodan in particular. This book has it all.

I'm addicted to those Kordolian warriors! I was a little disappointed with the previous book in Darkstar Mercenaries cause it wasn't so exciting or dark and seductive as the others and i thought that Mrs. Carven lost her touch with tĥe whole atmosphere of the series after so many books. Silly me!!! I was definitely wrong. This instalment took me exactly in the fantasy journey i was expecting and expanded the very distinguised way of life in the stars and sometimes on earth.

Fast paced

Tasha hates what she has became, forced to be something she never wanted to be. Her drive to protect those she loves takes her on a path she'd hoped for, believing it was not for her. She bursts like an out of control berserker into Lodan's orderly life. Together they battle anything that would tear them apart as move at hyperspace. Highly recommend this book an entire series..

Best Series Ever

You'd think that Anna Carven would write an "average" book once in a great while, but no; they just keep turning out to be outstanding. The "big bads" are my all-time favorite alien males--so confident in their abilities and power, and yet also, so very vulnerable, not to mention drool worthy and so deliciously sexy. Keep going, Anna. Thank you for another great romantic adventure!

While getting to know all the characters within the Dark Planet universe, we come closer to seeing the mechanics behind the evil evolution that has enveloped Earth. Backwater Earth might be, but years of an evil influence has created a network binding the mercenaries to their mates and families.
Well woven story in many books evolving more and more with each.
While I read this via Kindle Unlimited I still consider it well worth my time and $$.
