While protecting a dangerously attractive ex-agent, a former CIA operative must decide which asset is more important to him: his identity or his heart.

She’s running out of friends—and out of time.

CIA operative Elizabeth Aiken is on her own. After a rescue operation in Venezuela goes south and her cover is blown, Elizabeth barely escapes the country with her life. Set adrift by the Agency and with a price on her head, she seeks out the only person who can help her disappear.

Viper.

Unfortunately, the devastatingly attractive former operative wants nothing to do with her or the cartel-backed Venezuelan president who wants her dead. Worse still, if Elizabeth’s not careful, she’ll end up losing her heart instead of watching her back…and there’s no room for mistakes with assassins hot on her trail.

Helping her could destroy everything he’s worked for.
Former Marine-turned-CIA operative.
Current bar owner.
All-around badass.

Shane “Viper” Quinn has spent years constructing the perfect cover, and he’s not about to sacrifice it for a woman he barely knows. Even if she is strong and beautiful and makes him long for sultry nights that could destroy his carefully crafted life.

Still, Shane is forced to fight his growing attraction to the fearsome ex-agent while keeping her in one piece. Elizabeth’s enemies are now his enemies—and they aren’t going to stop until everyone who stands against them is eliminated. Will having the deadly Viper by her side be enough to save her?

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

Remember that old TV show "Burn Notice"? This is a similar set up. We have three operatives, Shane and Dusty have been "burned" and disavowed by the CIA and Trevor, former DEA, has a bounty on his head. They are living in Chicago and have cover lives where they can't contact anyone from their previous life. Another CIA agent, Liz Aiken, has a mission go sideways and she kills the son of the President of Venezuela, a nasty dude who is in with a very nasty drug cartel. No loss to the human race, but a big problem for the CIA.

Liz gets hooked up with these dudes and the fun begins. Loved the setup and the characters. I started to think of Liz as Wonder Woman and her nickname "The Queen of Pivot" was accurate. She was a one woman show for so long, she had no concept of how to work with a team and that almost lead to complete disaster.

When Liz arrives in Chicago, she is beaten, tired and scared for her life. Shane is her contact and he arranges a new life for her, but she still doesn't feel completely safe. Shane has been living a false life for years and to outward appearances, it's a great life. But it is a complete lie and he misses his family desperately. He ran afoul of the President of Venezuela, like Liz, and is in hiding.

When Liz's new cover as Faith is compromised She seeks out Shane again for help in evading the assassin sent to kill her. Shane really wants nothing more to do with this problem, but his warrior/protector nature won't let him abandon her, even if it meas compromising the life he has built. Shane and Liz click on a lot of levels and the passion ignites as they evade the assassin on their trail. Liz decides that she is not going to endanger Shane and his friends and decides to take this cat and mouse game back to the source. Alone. Shane is not about to let her face this alone and he will risk everything he has built to save her and destroy the threat to their lives once and for all.

Crossing Lines by Adrienne Giordano
The Deep Cover Series #1

Breathtaking nail-biting seat of the pants opening scene that lead to a life or death cat and mouse story of survival. Liz barely survives her undercover operation in Venezuela and is sent to Viper for help…will he tempt fate to help her and potentially blow his own cover in the process or leave Liz hanging in the wind?

What I liked:
* Liz/Faith: strong, independent, survivor, quick on her feet, lethal, capable, adaptable, wants to find out who blew her cover, has chemistry with Shane
* Shane/Bobby/Viper: protective, misses his family, works hard to maintain his new identity, a loner by necessity, lethal, strong, has chemistry with Liz.
* Sully: seems a good guy though Shane doesn’t trust him
* Dusty: a good friend of Vipers and also working to stay incognito
* The setting in Chicago
* The writing, pace, and intensity of the story
* The way Shane and Faith become a team over time
* Thinking about what it must be like to take on new identities for a job of to stay safe
* That Leslie managed to get out of a tricky situation and hopefully find a new life
* Hoping that Leslie’s brother will get out, too
* The cloak and dagger bits and secret hiding place
* That some of the bad guys received their just desserts
* The ending – it made me smile and made me happy

What I didn’t like:
* Knowing that there are corrupt bad guys out there like the ones in this book
* Thinking about the people willing to turn traitor for their own benefit(s)
* Not a total dislike but perhaps a bit of disbelief at the decision Liz made toward the end of the book and wondering how wise or realistic that decision would really have been…that said…this is fiction and perhaps she has some Wonder Woman in her genes ;)

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Book Whisperer for the ARC – this is my honest review.

Lots of action in this one. Faith/Liz works for the CIA but, when her cover is blown in Venezuela, she has to find a way out of there to get back to the states. In trying to escape, she kills the son of the president of Venezuela. The son was working with a cartel and would have killed Faith if she hadn't killed him first. She ends up in Chicago asking for help from Shane. Shane and a couple of friends have their own problems, but Shane can't say no to her. Her face has bruises and he knows she has been through hell before coming to him. He helps her all he can, but when a man comes for her, he can't help but wonder if he cover is blown too. The man who is after Faith is also after Shane and his friends. After Shane's life is literally burned to the ground, Faith decides to put an end to it. She has no problem going rogue. Shane isn't about to let that happen. What they can't figure out is how they keep finding them. There has to be someone giving them information, but who? He trusts his friends. They wouldn't betray him, would they?

Crossing Lines by Adrienne Giordano is just the type of book to take me away from reality. It is the type of story that can get my heart pumping at the action and also swoon at the tender moments of gentleness between the characters.

Like the characters, Shane and Faith, I was on edge most of the book because I never really knew who to trust! I found myself flipping pages as quickly as I could to figure out how they were all going to get out of this mess they were in, always expecting the bad guys to be right around the corner waiting for them.

Giordano did not disappoint! I was sucked in from the beginning and didn't stop until the very end. If you are looking for a captivating suspenseful story with romance along the way, give Crossing Lines a read!

He spent two years avoiding all contact even his mother’s hot gooey fudge brownies. This woman wanted his help, she had his emergency code, that
guy was now in trouble, nobody does that
Shane, Dusty, Trevor, undercover only met when stress became to much.
Woman in Venezuela had her cover blown, and badly beaten. He’d help
this time, then to forget she ever knew them.
Didn’t care for the swearing seemed like it was stuck in to emphasize they were angry. The plot and Shane were good.

It’s not *bad* but, sadly, I can’t recommend it. I need more action-romances in my life. Especially ones with cliched burned badass CIA agents on the run from Venezuelan drug cartels. So I was looking forward to this.

What I really wanted? “Dad Lit but they fuck.” Unfortunately, this one wasn’t great for either of those things. So I remain on the lookout!

Liz is the sole survivor of an assignment to take down the President of Venezuela. He's a corrupt dictator, working with the local cartels and reaping the rewards of other people's suffering. When his sleaze son relishes torturing his prisoners, he gets a mighty shock when not only does Liz not cower, she beats his butt! By killing the resident's son wasn't the safest thing she ever did and now she's on the run - hiding even from her own agency!

Relying on one of the few people she trusts, she's put in touch with someone who may be able to help her stay off the radar. After all, he and 2 buddies went through the same thing and are now hiding in plain sight.

Shane, Dusty, and Trevor (their new "civilian names") are a tight crew, even when they are forced never to meet in public. They aren't all exactly happy when Shane agrees to help Liz become "Faith" but one for all and all for one with this team. But the bad guys seem to have amazing intelligence and are always one step behind.

The action whizzes between Chicago, Venezuela and points in between. Liz is no damsel in distress, she'd take down El Presidente in a heartbeat but she's not mended yet and she knows that she can't be a one-woman army. Shane is our grudging hero - he's settled in his new life even though he misses his family but he still can't resist the urge of a good fight.

The romance between Shane and Faith/Liz is suited to the story and these two are used to making snap, instinctual decisions. There are plenty of twists and turns and the action is well paced.

Great story and would love to read more!

This is an exciting book that left me on the edge of my seat while reading it. I so love a suspenseful book! The President of Venezuela was a vengeful man that was corrupt as could be. When ex CIA agent Liz kills one of his sons in self defense, she now has a price on her head. You could sure see how mad Shane was when Liz came up to him in Chicago telling him one of his contacts sent her to him to help her. Shane, Dusty and Trevor (all assumed names) have been each other’s backup for over two years now. Liz has her named changed to Faith. She was one brave, resourceful woman who wasn’t afraid to say what she wanted. I couldn’t imagine how they felt being hunted by someone. Once Shane started helping Faith it seemed like more and more terrible things started happening. Shane was such a good guy and he wasn’t going to let anything happen to Faith. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Crossing Lines is my first book by Adrienne Giordano but won't be the last. From the compelling characters to the break-neck speed, I could not put the book down. Even the moments when the heroine went off on her own away from the team that wanted to help was explained by her back story. Well done. The heat level is a little high, but not too much. I loved the setting and the plot twists and turns.

I did figure out some of what was going to happen but that didn't diminish the story for me at all. These characters held true to the end, even with their arc and change. I wanted to read more about them.

I received a copy for review through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. #crossinglines #netgalley

Suspense thriller, high octane action!
I'd describe Crossing Lines' genre as suspense thriller rather than crime or mystery. It is set in Chicago, and told alternatively from Liz/ Faith's and Shane's POV in the third person past tense. Adrienne Giordano's telling is immediate, suspenseful.

The following is in the context of my giving this book a solid 4*. The prologue was ironically less impactful for me than the rest of the book. The action and violence felt forced and gratuitous. It lacked a surprise factor or character development or impetus to find out more.

My introduction to Adrienne Giordano, Crossing Lines follows a romantic thread and the undercover life of a young, recently exited CIA operative, Liz/ Faith. Always on the run. Always in hiding, with few possessions, and always looking over your shoulder, expecting a bullet to finish you off.

The CIA dumps its agent, Liz, after she's taken hostage by one of the Venezuelan drug cartels that are backed by the president. She manages to escape after dispatching the Venezuelan president's son and his mafia friend. A mighty achievement for a slim woman. That's in the prologue.

A colleague int CIA, Sullivan, or Sully, puts Liz in touch with 3 ex CIA agents, who help her establish a new identity as Faith and find accommodation and get a job. Primary among them is Shane. Big, lovable and strong Shane, the love interest. The most likeable character in the book.

As they keep their head down while Faith tries to establish a new life in Chicago, someone is one step ahead of her. She's being stalked. Attempts are made on her life. Things get serious when Shane's life and livelihood are threatened. It's clear a person in their group is giving the Venezuelan president her whereabouts. But who? There's such a small cohort that I figured out the snitch midway through. However, though there was no surprise in the reveal, the story was still tense and page turning.

While falling in love, Shane and Faith hatch a plan to get revenge. Faith however, calling herself the queen of the pivot, has never been part of a team. She tends to go rogue, which sometimes annoys Shane, sometimes scares him for her safety.

High stakes, thrills, mad, bad guys, gang cartels, a country's president - it's pretty wide and focused at the same time. The CIA action and the gang stuff reads like it could happen. There's a sweet romantic touch.

"Crossing Lines" by Adrienne Giordano is a riveting espionage thriller that seamlessly blends danger, romance, and suspense. Set against the backdrop of a perilous rescue operation gone awry in Venezuela, the novel introduces readers to CIA operative Elizabeth Aiken, a resilient and resourceful woman whose world is turned upside down when her cover is blown.

Giordano weaves a compelling narrative that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat from the first page to the last. The stakes are high, and the tension is palpable as Elizabeth navigates a treacherous path, hunted by assassins and with a price on her head. The author's attention to detail creates a vivid and immersive world, making it easy to get lost in the story.

The characters, particularly Elizabeth and Shane "Viper" Quinn, are well-developed and layered. Elizabeth is a strong and determined protagonist, fighting not only for survival but also for her identity. Viper, a former Marine turned CIA operative and bar owner, adds complexity to the plot with his reluctance to get involved, despite the undeniable chemistry between him and Elizabeth.

The chemistry between the two protagonists is electric, adding a touch of romance to the intense thriller. Giordano skillfully balances the suspenseful plot with the blossoming relationship, creating a well-rounded and engaging story. The internal conflicts faced by both characters add depth, making them relatable and human.

The pacing of "Crossing Lines" is impeccable, with each chapter building upon the suspense and driving the story forward. The author successfully creates a sense of urgency that propels the reader through the narrative, making it difficult to put the book down.

Adrienne Giordano's writing style is crisp and evocative, capturing the essence of the espionage genre. The dialogue is sharp, and the action scenes are well-choreographed, adding to the overall cinematic feel of the novel.

In conclusion, "Crossing Lines" is a gripping and well-crafted espionage thriller that delivers on both suspense and romance. Adrienne Giordano proves herself as a master storyteller, creating a world that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant. Fans of the genre will find themselves thoroughly engrossed in this tale of danger, intrigue, and the power of love in the face of adversity.

Crossing Lines by Adrienne Giordano

I received Crossing Lines from Adrienne awhile ago. I of course forgot I had an ARC to read because I was in the middle of another series. Then while I was cruising Kindle Unlimited for something different than the Cozies, I had been reading I smacked my head “Duh! Adrienne sent me a book to read.” Perfect timing too because I seriously needed a break from amateur sleuths sticking their noses into things they really shouldn’t. I have this ARC to read for an honest review, and seriously why would anyone leave a review that's not honest? So let's begin…

Elizabeth/Faith is a CIA operative undercover in Venezuela. Her cover is blown and she is kidnapped by two very unpleasant guys. During her escape it's either kill or be killed and the major catalyst my that comes from this is that one of the thugs is the son of the president. Elizabeth makes it back to the States by the skin of her teeth only to find herself burned. Desperate to start a new life she finds herself asking Shane/Viper for help. Shane, former Marine and CIA, also has been burned and had been in hiding for years from the same person who now has a price on Elizabeth's head. Despite having the initial desire to have nothing to do with her because he and his friends have worked really hard making new lives for themselves by keeping their heads down, but goes ahead and helps.

Things get a little crazy for the crew as soon as Elizabeth is in the picture. Assassin’s are coming to town, there are secret meetings in cemeteries, new identities are made and blown, cars exploding, buildings firebombed and gourmet coffee (this is not a cozy so don't worry). Elizabeth aka Faith being the awesome person she is, decides to go against the wishes of her allies and leaves them all behind to confront Mr. President in person. She has a plan but it goes array when Shane and team shows up in Venezuela to help. In the end we find out how the assassin is always catching up to them. AND it is so not what I thought!! I seriously had been yelling at my Fire my opinions on why they were being followed. I'm not gonna say what I was yelling and thinking because I don't want to give away any spoilers just in case someone else thinks the same way I do. But boy was I wrong! Which I love because that means Adrienne did a great job of writing the story without giving away any clues to how it all went down.

A true testament to how good this story is… Because Crossing Lines wasn't listed yet on Amazon after reading it, I forgot to write my review for a month after finishing the story. I went through my Goodreads “read” shelf and I have read 17 books since reading Crossing Lines and I didn't have to reread or skim it to remember what it was about in order to write this review. All in all, I give 4½ stars, but I'm gonna round up because that's what you're supposed to do when it’s 5 or greater 😉

OMG, what a start to an explosive (literally, LOL) series!

This book was intense. Honestly--I gasped out loud more than once (though thankfully only one time in public ;)) and that last 20% or so? So. Dang. Stressful. I didn't want to put the book down until I could guarantee that things were going to end well for our heroes...darn life, making me work and stuff...

I loved Shane/Bobby and Faith/Liz, as characters and as a couple. For the longest time, though, it was so hard to see how they could possibly get to a true HEA--Liz especially was going to have to overcome some pretty ingrained habits to figure out how to find a future with someone else--and oh yeah, there's also some pretty heavy duty bad guys out to get them. Ms Giordano did a great job of (starting to) resolve Faith and Shane's personal issues, and goodness, the resolution of the conflict with the baddies? So. Intense! And that final chapter? Gave me all the warm and fuzzy vibes...

I can't wait to see where this series goes--the author gives us some very interesting and complex secondary characters here, and I am *very* interested to see if she gives us a book for one of them especially, though I'm not going to say who or why, because spoilers. If you like twisty and turny romantic suspense with strong (and occasionally slightly insane) characters, give this one a try!

Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A

Adrienne Giordano has outdone herself with Crossing Lines, her latest suspense/thriller/romance release. Ms Giordano is masterful in keeping her audience enthralled and on edge…as the story evolves and the momentum builds you are kept guessing until the final moments.

With an intriguing premise, dynamic characters and rapid fire dialogue the pages could not turn themselves fast enough. In Shane and Faith you have a couple with palpable chemistry, though complete opposites, they complemented each other perfectly…the moments of frustration Shane experienced while trying to rein Faith in were some of the funniest for me. The moments of tenderness between them rounded out the entire story quite nicely.

Regardless of the genre Adrienne Giordano writes in, I’m assured an engrossing story and the perfect escape vehicle. I’ve read all her books, in the variety of genres she’s written in and have found so many that I can say are my favorites…of the plethora of authors I’ve read…Crossing Lines is right up there among the best of them.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

From the action and suspense points of view, Crossing Lines is really good. And the romance between Elizabeth/Faith and John/Shane is interesting, even if a bit predictable.
My only concern with this book is the fact that both characters sometimes behave rather oddly sometimes - from a professional point of view. How could Shane just disappear in the middle of a stakeout to catch the hit man who's being trying to kill them both to help a damsel in distress - yes, apparently the woman needed help, but didn't he think it could be a trap? Didn't he think that leaving Faith alone could have even worse consequences? And how could Faith enter the hotel room of said hit man without checking her weapon was operational first. In the book, she chalks it up to rookie mistake, but she's been portrayed since the beginning as a seasoned professional. No seasoned professional would make that mistake. No professional would live to become "seasoned" by making that mistake. These are just two examples of the details that niggled me here and there - and the reason why I'm rating Crossing Lines with just four stars instead of five.

CIA agent Elizabeth/Faith has been burned. Her identity was leaked and she was held in a basement about to be violated. She kills both kidnappers and escapes Venezuela. What she didn’t know was one of them was the Venezuelan Presidents son. Back in the States she goes in to hiding because an assassin is after her. She finds Shane who can help her with new identifications. Shane is also ex CIA and the Venezuelan president wants him because he put his son in prison. He owns a restaurant and ends up putting Liz/Faith near him. But when the assassin finds her, Shane and Faith decides that they need to find him before he finds them. Faith is used to being by herself but she has to learn to work with a team. Faith is tired of running so she is going to turn herself over to the President and hopefully he doesn’t know who Shane really is. Will they be able to get their lives back?

Fast paced action. Assassins. Two people on the run from the same person. Second chance at life. A little sex. Really enjoyed it. Hopefully Dusty will have a story.

Excellent!

I love your books, Ms. Giordano, however, I'd believe I just read my favorite!
I Thoroughly enjoyed the "Private Protector" series, among others, yet Liz made this book my favorite!
What a kick axx individual! So much of her life alone, yet she tries to do more, bet part of something, and when that doesn't work, well she is the "Queen of Pivot". Welcome to her insanity!
Shane was perfect for her,he is a little more level headed and easy going, but she still is going to do what Liz thinks is best! Shane definitely surprises her, he is not letting her hang herself!
That thing that got me the most, other than the crazy story between these two "burned" individuals, was a friend Shane helped. I had a weird feeling about him, yet like Shane I believed it was someone else. But at the climax, you definitely showed who was who...
Another great thriller romantic suspense!
I absolutely loved, and yes, certainly, my favorite!

A suspense/romance/thriller with excellent writing and nail biting action scenes. It has an addictive back story involving Faith and Shane, ex-agents that have new identities and are now running from a South American drug lord/bad guy. There is adventure, intrigue and plenty of fights, blood, murder, explosions and action. Who can they trust? The romance is very slow burn and fits the story perfectly. When it comes to the handful of sex scenes, they are tasteful, nicely written, without being too graphic, and don't overtake the story - which I liked, as they didn't seem contrived. I'm now wanting to read more books by this author, as this is the first one I've read. My thanks go to NetGalley and the publisher for the uncorrected eARC in return for my opinion. 4.5 stars for great entertainment!

Don’t start this book any where near bed time otherwise it will be a sleepless night as you say just one more chapter over and over! A duo of burned operatives set out to take down the president of Venezuela before he can kill both of them. We have Liz/Faith who killed the younger son of the man in charge. Shane/Viper/Bobby who betrayed the president’s oldest son who is now sitting in jail. Trevor and Dusty, two also burned agents and Sully, a current active CIA agent on the case. The only question on Faith and Shane’s minds is who can they actually trust in their quest to take down a corrupt man and save their lives. From Chicago to Alabama to Venezuela Andrienne Giordano takes you on an action filled ride. I can’t wait to see where she goes next!

Crossing Lines by Adrienne Giordano is a romantic suspense thriller that takes place in the CIA world. This story is written in third person from the point of view of both the hero and the heroine. It has great well developed characters, a fantastic storyline and a happily ever after.

After her cover is blown in Venezuela and a bounty is placed on her head, CIA operative Liz Aiken seeks out Shane “Viper” Quinn for help creating a new life and identity. The sparks and chemistry between Liz and Shane were instantaneous and when danger comes knocking on her door, Shane will do whatever it takes to protect the woman whose brought light back into his life. But will it be enough? Read it and find out!

I hope this is the start of a new series. The secondary characters were amazing and I would love for them to get their own storIes.

Non stop action, suspense, betrayals, and amazing characters as Liz an undercover agent whose cover has been blown and is now asking for help from another agent, Shane, who has been in hiding for years to protect his family and fellow agents.
The story starts off with a bang and the hits just keep coming, from the first page to the last, I couldn’t put it down. Plenty of action and guessing who is the leak and to top it all off, the explosive chemistry between the two. Shane tries to fight it in the beginning but soon is all in, protecting Liz. And Liz, strong, competent and the perfect match for Shane.
An amazing read with suspense, twist and turns, betrayals, action and steam…LOVED IT!!!

Summer Hollywood Blockbuster + LMN movie = Crossing Lines

The book is fast, fun, entertainment. Elizabeth Aiken government operative is left to save herself, her very existence hangs in the balance. Using guile and self reliance she escapes returning to the U.S. reaching out to Shane Quinn for help. Shane a former operative has kept his head down after being disavowed by the C.I.A living under an alias. The book is non stop action as the duo along with help from allies go head to head with danger. Amidst it all Liz and Shane find themselves drawn to one another despite their precarious situation.
All in all a good read, though Liz had some questionable moments (hence the LMN reference). Looking forward to reading what comes next.

Crossing Lines is a book that involves not only the two main characters, Shane and Faith, but also the secondary characters who served the country deep undercover and had their identities burned. Living in a state of readiness and anxiousness wasn't working anymore. The story involves how the main character Faith, wanted not only her life back but wanted it for the group as well. There were so many twists and turns in this book it kept you guessing until the end. Both Shane and Faith were opposites in a way but they were a great match and balance for each other. I loved the romance and the suspense and I highly recommend this book.

Crossing Lines is a story about agency operatives who were discovered and discarded from their roles and sent back to civilian life with new identities. There's a lot of action, a very good plot, an incredible woman, and three friends who hold each others' backs. But there are also lies, deceit, crime and difficult decisions to be made in order to protect the lives they have in the civilian world. Will they be able to keep their true identities undercover? This is a fast-paced and easy-to-read romance/thriller that kept me entertained for a while.
I downloaded a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Crossing Lines
This was a great story about a secret agent, gone undercover, escaping the enemy and having to create a new identity for herself. She relocates with the help of another agent Shane who has made a new life for himself. And then all of a sudden they are on the run, someone has been made. Faith decides she is going to take down the leader of the Russian mob, she no longer wants to live in fear, Shane won't let her do this alone.  They work out their dangerous plan.
Well written on the edge of your seat novel. I really enjoyed this read and would read more novels by Adrienne Giordano
