Summer Shadows collects two novels of desire and danger from “the queen of romantic suspense” (Columbus Dispatch)—#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts.
The Right Path
On a dream vacation in Greece, Morgan James is enjoying the beautiful island paradise of sun, surf, and sand. That dream becomes a nightmare when she emerges from the ocean after a midnight, moonlit swim to find herself face-to-face with a man wielding a knife. Warning her to say nothing to no one about his presence, he vanishes.
Morgan sees him the very next day, visiting the home of her hosts. Greek tycoon Nicholas Gregoras appears to be on a mysterious mission and he needs Morgan to trust him. Undeniably attracted to and intrigued by Nicholas, she gives into his request only to find herself targeted by some very dangerous people.

Read this to complete a prompt for a book challenge and it was just ok. Published in 1987 and you could hear the vintage 😆😉 the book had 2 short stories and the first one was pretty awful with the characters and storyline. 2nd book was just ok. Not sure if I’ll ever read another book by Nora, but who knows. 🤷🏽♀️
VERYYYY vintage NR - harlequinesque vibes and I HATED the 1st books characters. It was such a ridiculous story that getting into it was a complete disappointment. Yes, let’s get jumped by a guy with a knife, expect to get raped and then let him climb up our bedroom wall for some rompage fun.
Just. No.
The 2nd book was better, but still very vintage. I’m so glad she writes much more entertaining reads now and days.
Quick reads that would fill a void but I wouldn’t jump right on into thinking it’s gonna be fun. 😂
Summer Shadows by Nora Roberts is exciting, suspenseful, and entertaining. There is drama and romance too. I love the location of the stories. The first story was on an island where things can be either super wonderful or deadly. A woman who is visiting a friend happens to run into a dangerous man. A man that cannot share his work or identity. This only leaves her to think the worst of him. Then, there is the instant attraction and their fun banters that made this book pop to life. Vibrant, engaging, a vacation from a vacation this book, I highly recommend Summer Shadows to all.
I bought this book from my local used library sale. This is my voluntary review.
I often use Nora Roberts books for breaks in between heavier reads. I did that with this two-in-one book. Not stories were vintage Nora Roberts. They are formulaic with enough twists and surprises to be compelling. Just what I needed.
I enjoyed the suspense and intrigue. There were twists with every page that made it hard to put the book down. Nora Roberts always does a fabulous job.
That being said, I feel like there were too many loose ends at the end of each of the stories.
Within the first pages I was not enjoying The Right Path. You can tell it was written back when these types of men were seen as smouldering, dangerous, mysterious, sexy bad boys. Today it's more like, oh yay, undertones of SA. Let's forget about all the red flag behaviours and focus on what's appealing instead. 🙄 Partners was marginally better but not enough to save it all. Let's just say I was happy to finish this book. The stories did not age well, especially the first. I couldn't even pass this on to my mother and sister as they didn't want to read it. I do not recommend.
