Morally Ambiguous #2

Transgressions of the Father

Rate this book
Atwood Powell’s once well-ordered life is a mess. Six months ago, he did the unthinkable. Since then, he’s done everything in his power to forget. But he can’t. Eren Sulliven haunts him. Even Atwood’s dreams offer him no reprieve from the memory of his son, warm and willing, under him. He can’t fight his desire to be with Eren anymore.

No one is guaranteed a happily ever after, though. Sometimes, the things you desire can destroy you. Is the risk worth the reward? Or does a stray strand of DNA spell doom for Atwood and Eren?

Transgressions of The Father, a 25K short story, is the final installment of a two-part duet featuring a taboo relationship between a loving father, his needy son, an all male, clothing optional resort, old friends, a jealous ex-boyfriend and graphic depictions of public sex. This short story can be read as a standalone but is best enjoyed when read in conjunction with Confessions of The Son.

Odessa Hywell is a taboo MM romance author with a book addiction and coffee problem, who lives in the Southern United States with her husband, their teenage daughter, who mocks her for being short, and way too many animals.

Aside from writing and reading, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and playing video games.

Her favorite season is winter—hello, snow—but in the summer, she travels as much as possible.

Some of her favorite spots are The Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Dead Horse Point, Moab UT, Gatlinburg TN, Helen GA, Silverton CO, Roswell, NM—plus honestly, a lot more. The list is nearly endless.

A few places she plans to go in the future are New Orleans, LA and Salem, MA during spooky season, Smuggler's Notch, VT during autumn, the Colorado Mountains during the winter, New York City, Washington DC, a cruise to anywhere, on a hot air balloon ride, on a train trip down the California Coast . . .

In 2021, she decided because she is married to a twin it was best NOT to publish her books featuring twincest and other questionable themes under her married name as her husband would not approve.

So, I have decided it must be 4 stars. The book duet wants to be incest smut, and that's exactly what it is. It convinces in its smuttiness. I just can't give it less just because a few little things bother me, I like Odessa's writing style too much for that. My sympathy for the author has simply won at this point.

So, yes it remains scorching hot. Sex drips from every page.

It had been six months and Eren could recall in perfect detail the feel of Atwood’s hands and mouth on his body as he thrust into his slick hole. He was ruined for all future lovers. No one would ever measure up to the memory of Atwood. 🔥

When Atwood and Eren are finally together properly, I think it's lovely that Atwood doesn't get lost in self-doubt, but simply accepts his attraction to Eren.
I would have liked a little more romance for the two of them, but at least both books make it clear how deeply bonded they are to each other.

But to say what actually bothers me ... actually silly:
The public sex scene, let's extend it a few more pages after all ... sorry, it was just too long for not having much action ... I know silly of me.
And what I really, really didn't like is the amount of alcohol that was consumed here. In principle, I have no problem with alcohol consumption, I think here it was just too much, or somehow scratched my nerves, like some bad thing in the back of my head that you can't shake off. That's not meant to be judgmental, I've enjoyed drinking enough in my life, but I just can't shake the uneasiness off.

So, they settled on being friends after the fact. 6 months later and this time it’s Atwood who wants more. So, what’s a man to do?

Meeting Cooper and Bennett tells me I need to read their book. Not that I didn’t already plan on it.

For those who know me, you know I go gaga when a man says ‘good girl,’ I had no idea I would like it so much better when a man says ‘good boy.’ So freaking hot!

Omg they are just certifiably adorable! I want to hang out with them and Cooper and Bennett. Do you think they’d let me in their circle?

I wish Atwood was my daddy in the Dom sense of the word but he does take it to a new level in the literal sense as well. Holy smokes!

My only complaint is why do the chapters keep ending in the middle of sex and then the next chapter starts at another part? Like I keep missing stuff and I’m a little confused.

That ended far too quickly! They’re just so adorable and loving and affectionate. I’m really gonna miss them.

Quotes:

“And they were finally in a good place—comfortable and relaxed in one another’s presence.
Like a family—doting father and depraved son.”

“You can blindfold me and hold me down. I’ll even put up a token resistance for old time’s sake. You wanna follow me to the bathroom, like the first time? You can fuck me in a stall again while I pretend not to like it.”

“Hot as two squirrels fucking in a wool sock behind a heater in Hell.”

“I meant mine in every way possible. You can call us whatever you want—roommates who fuck, boyfriends, partners—so long as I can call you mine at the end of the day.”

“There is nothing remarkable about being someone’s first,” Atwood said, voice soft as he held Eren’s gaze and brushed a tear off his cheek. “But, if he lets me, I’ll be his last.”

“You matter. And you are loved, Eren. I have always loved you and I always will. If you let me, I’ll be the last person to ever love you for everything you are and will become because Eren, you are a tiny universe comprising every hope and dream I have ever had. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”

“And for the record when I called you Daddy I didn’t mean like . . . daddy.” “It’s okay, Eren,” he said as he grabbed a towel. “You’re not the first person to call me that.”

*** I received an eArc from the author in exchange for an honest review.***

This was a fantastic conclusion to the Morally Ambiguous Duet that features a forbidden relationship that is filled with intense drama and chemistry between the two main characters. I was also pleasantly surprised to see a cameo from the main characters from Odessa Hywell's Twisted Together.

This is a quick read that is full of great moments that push the main characters towards a definitive decision to their relationship, which I fully enjoyed how everything progressed and developed.

Another fun story from Odessa Hywell and I look forward to the next one.

The plot was a bit weird to be honest. Or rather a bit “out-of-nowhere” if that makes sense. Didn’t love it.

But on a positive note I think the father/son relationship worked out well. Kudos for that!

* Putting this duet on my taboo shelf, again, re-read it so many times I can't count, one of my favourite taboo books (duet).

This story continues 6 months after Atwell and Eren had sex and decided to end the sexual part of their relationship and live together as friends/family.

🔴 Taboo - Father / Son
🟢 Living together as family
🔵 Deciding to go for more despite everything
🟣 Gay clothing optional resort; public sex
🟡 HEA

Eren is finally relaxed, happy and thriving living with his biological father, his friendship with Atwell is blooming, they hang out, talk, are completely relaxed with each other and in general enjoy living togehter.

EXCEPT.

They both want more.

They constantly feel that pull towards each other and Atwell finally decides to suggest them having a go at a real relationship. He decides to give in and give it a shot, seeing it's what Eren really wants in the first place.

They had a vacation planned in a male-only resort, so when they go there and share a room, it doesn't take long for them to get intimate.

They have amazing sex.
They have an amazing connection.
They love each other, but it's more than romantic love and yet less than familial love.
It's so well described, I can guarantee it's absolutely not off-putting.

I loved this duology.

There's an epilogue missing and I'm hoping the author decides to write another novella in this series. I'd really like to know how they manage everyday life and them being together? Does anyone ever find out? Do they adopt a kid? Do they move?

There are two interesting characters in this story - Cooper and Bennett. And at the end of the story we find out that they're most likely brothers. So the next book you'll want to read is Twisted together.

This was intense in a really good way😮‍💨!
It was smutty, flitty, hot and sweet just like the first book.
Erens and Atwood’s connection is so amazing and I loved it to see that the hold romantic AND familia love for each other. This incest story between father and son is absolutely well written and I can assure you it’s absolutely not disgusting!
The only thing I wished for was a bit more romantic scenes between them and an epilogue but otherwise this was a really enjoyable read!

Ok I enjoyed this for what is was, a fun taboo story. Good continuation from part one with lots of sex and practically zero angst. Not sure about the idea of taking your son who you're trying to resist to an all gay nude resort, but you know, whatever floats your boat.

“My only wish, since the day you were born, has been for you to be happy and healthy and well taken care of. It doesn’t matter how you think of me—boyfriend, daddy, dad—I’m here. I’m here for it all, Eren, for as long as you want or need me.”

This was another sweet taboo incest story from Odessa. Honestly, I love how they are able to write such sweet, emotional and steamy incest stories.

We have Eren (23), who is alone after losing his adoptive parents and leaving his abusive boyfriend. He's homeless and lonely and seeks out his birth parents, hoping to reconnect with them. However, when he finds his birth mother, things don't go so well once she realizes he is gay but gives him his birth father's information. He finds him but initially keeps his identity a secret as he realizes his feelings for him are anything but fatherly.

"Sometimes . . . I know it’s twisted,” Eren said, his voice cracking. “I shouldn’t want you as both—my boyfriend and my dad"

Atwood (40) had a son when he was a teenager after an alcohol-fueled one-night stand that he may or may not have fully consented to. While he wanted to keep his son, since he was in the foster care system himself with no stability in his life, he decided to put his son up for adoption so he would have a better chance at life. However, he hasn't ever forgotten him and honours his birthday every year with a cake. He's scared to seek him out but hopes he is doing well.

I really enjoyed this duet. It had a lot of things I've come to adore about Odessa's writing and storytelling, so it worked for me. It was super sexy and I enjoyed the bit of angst. Because let's be real, nothing about a father/Son relationship will be straightforward. It takes Atwood time to come to terms with his feelings towards his son and the guilt, so be warned, the first book does end on a cliffhanger.

"Atwood could be the dad he’d always wanted to be when necessary, without feeling ashamed about the other aspects of their relationship. And Eren could be Atwood’s son when it suited him."

I liked how needy Eren was and literally soaked up the praise from Atwood. He was starved for affection, and his father was ready to provide it. The possessiveness between them was also lovely. The whole "good boy, my baby boy"...loved it.

While these types of stories can fall into the side of pure smut, Odessa balances it well, the sex, emotions, and plot. Not to mention these are some level 5 spicy scenes. We also get public sex, voyeurism, and exhibitionism in the second book. Speaking of public sex, Bennett and Cooper make a cameo. Let's say there's a particular scene that was very, very nice.

There was one sex scene that I had a very hard time picturing because some crazy contortions had to be happening.

Overall I enjoyed it. It was a fun, sweet and steamy Father/Son taboo read. If you have enjoyed Odessa's stories in the past, you will definitely like this one too.

**This review is for both books in the duet since I read the combined Morally Ambiguous Duet version.

This book, oh, this electrifying book… So scorching you’ll need to take multiple cold showers but paired with some of the sweetest and swooniest moments they’ll make you melt. “You are a tiny universe comprising every hope and dream I have ever had. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you.” Gah, Eren and Atwood, it’s official, my heart has gone gooey for them. Their love is beautiful, the care they for show for one another is precious and they have the very best taste in friends. I adore them and know you will too.

In book one:
One day Eren knocks on Atwoods door. Homeless and orphaned Atwood takes Eren in, without further questions. They connect with each other and Eren starts to feel more than just the love that would be socially acceptable. He has to tell Atwood his secret, but how when he’s not being able to build up the courage to tell A that he is his son.

Book two:
This is the continuation of the morally ambiguous duet.

A vacation in an clothes optional resort changes their dynamics once again

Just for taboo lovers. Quick read. Low to Medium steam. Read the duet in one go.

As always, the writing kept me going when it was just pages of "we shouldn't but we really want to" angst going on.

I still loved Eren and Atwood. I loved that Atwood was a Daddy and not just a dad. I mean these two had a full blown Daddy/boy relationship even forgetting the whole biological relationship. I loved that.

Then it was time for the resort and "oh no, there's just one bed" and the wonderful surprise of having Bennett and Cooper from the first book there. The resort was like a full character and I hope it's where the previous and new mcs all meet up and sex up in future books.

The ex showing up was cliche, but I really was expecting Nic to shout out that Atwood was his father, but that never happened.

That last line in the book though,

Morally Ambiguous
(transgressions of the Father)
Odessa Hywell

Wow! What a great book! Absolutely excellent (and erotic) conclusion to this Duet.
This book follows on directly from where book one (confessions of the Son) left off. This picks up the story six months later after both MCs have had plenty of time to think about which way they want their relationship to go.
This part is less angsty, more sexy and includes a tiny bit of drama... thanks to an unwelcome third party.

Well written. Quick, easy read that manages to keep you interested from the very first page.

I feel that for this duet to be fully appreciated, it is best to read the two books back to back. (I had read book one previously, but I re-read it prior to starting this one).
I would not say either of the books really work best as standalones, but, Odessa has written book two with enough information and back history for the reader to get the gist of the story.
Loved the book!
Highly recommended.
WELL EDITED! NO TYPOS! ☺️
I received a complementary copy of the book from the author, and have more than willingly added my voluntary review.

After Morally Ambiguous: Confessions of the Son, where we leave off with dad Atwood trying to come to terms with what he has done with biological son Eren who had confessed their relationship...after they were...close, we take up with the roommates six months later in Transgressions of the Father. Atwood has taken the last six months trying to work through his feelings and duties to his son Eren. Thankfully for us the reader he decides to go for it and take advantage of a much needed vacation to see if Eren is on the same page after all this time. If you've read Confessions of the Son then you know what to expect and this is a delightful read. I loved seeing Cooper and Bennett as well since I read Twisted Together. Awesome book and great job balancing the the inherent angst that comes with a taboo relationship book.

“And you are loved, Eren. I have always loved you and I always will. If you let me, I’ll be the last person to ever love you for everything you are and will become because Eren—” Atwood pressed their foreheads together as he exhaled. A shiver raced down Eren’s spine as he leaned into Atwood. “You are a tiny universe comprising every hope and dream I have ever had. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”

It’s a win for me! Very hot, very messed up, and exactly why I love Odessa Hywell’s writing!

On to “Twisted Together” because the last line from this book had me howling.

“Hey,” Eren muttered, “before I forget. What’s up with Bennett and Cooper?”
“Oh, them.” Atwood snorted, the sound loud in the quiet room. “I’m pretty sure they’re brothers.”

I should write a better review but school has me brain dead. 4 skulls anyhow! 💀💀💀💀

Another great read!

As a companion piece to Confessions of the Son, this book was better than I was expecting (and that's saying a lot!)

We get to continue Eren and Atwood's fledgling relationship, six months after their first encounter. They're both struggling with their feelings as well as society's expectations.

I love that this book almost completely takes place at an all-male, clothing-optional resort! We get to meet a couple of fun side characters (Cooper and Bennett!) as well as Eren's abusive ex, Nick.

There is way more steam in this book than its predecessor, along with some voyeurism. There is also lots of sweetness and caretaking. I recommend this book, but I think it's best read after book one.

Takes place 6 months after part 1. Dad & son, who had decided to be just friends, are going on a 2 week all male nude vacation together. Such a weird plot - can't take it seriously. Still no angst, in fact Atwood has decided he's ready to forget the genetics & go all in. Hottest part of the book was when they had public sex next to brothers Bennett & Cooper from Twisted Together. Otherwise I still don't find this overly spicy although Eren has a cute little praise kink that Atwood indulges.

This is a review for the Morally Ambiguous Duet (combined book 1 and 2)

Atwood (40) and Eren (23) omggg, so cute and sweet and hot.

The first half was sweet while the latter half of this was so hot at he resort. I'm glad there was no discovery or backlash scene of anyone finding out their relations, and I'm glad they were able to make great friends with Cooper and Bennett.

That whole resort, all the public sex and tension and that shower scene, wowwww! I need more books of this couple and maybe all the other couples in Odessa's backlist to come to this resort lol

Giving up his son for adoption, Atwood always celebrated him even though he was not with him.
When circumstances forced Eren to seek out his birth parents, he didn’t expect to be drawn to Atwood on such a deeper level.
The bond they form is one closer than father and son and the passion they share is scorching.

A taboo read that is absolute indulgence.
I loved seeing these characters connect and grow their relationship on many levels.
Do heed the triggers though.

This one felt dragged

And yughk the public performance sex was not my vibe. From the blurb mentioning a male resort I knew this wouldn’t seem in line with the characters I read about in the first book, and it would just be another taboo on top of taboo. There’s a certain possessiveness in their relationship that I don’t think invites wandering eyes. Seemed peer pressured too. And under inebriation…

Solid continuation to the first part, and the relationship got a bit kinkier with the public sex part, as well as the fact that the guys had also started to bond as father and son.

The ex-boyfriend made an appearance, but happily it was just a little interlude, as the length and style wasn't suited to drama.

Okay, at this point there's nothing that Odessa could write that I wouldn't toss 5 stars up for.

This one was so heartbreaking and beautiful all at once. The comfort and safe place Atwood provided to Eren after all he's been through was absolute perfection.

“You are a tiny universe comprising every hope and dream I have ever had. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”

UGH. MY HEART.

Second book was more interesting IMO. Wasn't too big on the public sex but it was cute and sexy, just wish there was more smut from the father's perspective. Loved the pining in the beginning after the dad realizes he wants more from Eren.
The plot twist around Cooper and Bennett at the end made me laugh.
