The Vision and Change in the Geosciences report is the culmination of 6 years of research, summits, workshops, and surveys with geoscience leaders in academia, industry, and government. The report provides a vision and guidance on ways forward to transform geoscience projects to reflect the future of the science, workforce needs, and societal expectations. Perspectives on the concepts, skills, and competencies needed for the future are detailed, along with both strategies for transforming degree programs through modern pedagogies and new student engagement strategies. Additionally, the persistent challenges in building an inclusive and representative geoscience discipline and one that is well-represented in the K-12 educational environment are also addressed. Included within the report are case study reports from departments which engaged in these processes during the course of the study.
