Maggie Anderson lives a charmed life. A little house by a Florida beach. A respectable job. A handsome boyfriend turned fiancé. Until tragedy strikes leaving Maggie a shell of her former self. Packing up and moving to her cousin’s house in Virginia, Maggie only hopes for a fresh start and a way to work through her grief. She isn’t counting on making any friends--certainly none like Ashton Miller. When Ashton pushes her towards Elijah Carter, the hot ex-Navy SEAL who keeps popping up in her life, she can’t imagine being with him when she’s so broken. But sometimes you need help finding the resolve to rebuild your strength. And it doesn’t hurt to have a steamy, tattooed man by your side when you find it.
I suggest reading the Salvation Series by Corinne Michaels before reading books in the Society, but it is not a requirement.
Key Points for this story in the Salvation Society Collection: - Contemporary / Women's Fiction - Woman needs a fresh start after tragedy - Former SEAL turned Cop - CW: PTSD, Grief - Salvation Series connection is Mark, Quinn, Ashton, and Cole Security

Resolve held true to what the Salvation Society was created for: bada^^ military men and their equally strong women. Maggie lives through what has to be anyone’s worst nightmare; she decides to make a change, enter Elijah. It was great diving back into the Salvation Society world and seeing a few old favs.
Maggie is having a dream. Reality merging into a nightmare. It begins with Tucker on his knees at the Italian restaurant proposing, but then they are rolling down a hill and when they finally hit bottom Tucker is laying lifeless beside her.
Knocking wakes her from her nightmare and when she opens the door expecting Tucker she finds that her nightmare is becoming real as the officer tells her she's sorry, but Tucker had died in a robbery.
Maggie is packing up all her belongings from her high school Spanish class. She can't get away from these hormonal students fast enough. It's the last day of school before summer break and she really doesn't know if she will return. Everything has changed since Tucker's death a year ago and she just needs a change.
She's on her second glass of wine while she waits for her weekly call from her cousin AJ. When she tells her how discouraged she is she is shocked when AJ tells her to quit her job in Florida and come stay with her and her husband Zane in Virginia and make a fresh start away from all the memories.
When she finally arrives in Virginia she is surprised that Zane has set up an interview with Cole Security for the next morning. She wanted a change, but was she ready?
I loved this book! It is very well written and deals tremendously with loss of a loved one and moving on. All of the characters are fully developed and fully relatable.
Maggie is an amazing woman who can't seem to find her way after grief. I haven't had boyfriend/fiance/husband die but Sally Holt has written such a gripping emotional story that your heart breaks for Maggie. Her journey to finding love after tragedy is very inspiring.
This book begins with memories, but soon becomes full of action and danger. It is full of emotion and smoking hot. Highly recommend this book and will definitely be reading more by Sally Holt!
More Women’s Fiction Than Romance IMO One of the newest installments in Corinne Michaels’s Salvation Society world is “Resolve” by Sally Holt. Elijah Carter is a born hero - sweet, charming, handsome, and self-assured - and he is completely enamored with the stunning yet sad Maggie Anderson, newly transplanted in the Virginia Beach area for a much-needed fresh start. A teacher by trade and education, she’s a gifted linguist and ends up as a translator at Cole Security, where fans of the original series get to catch up with Mark Dixon, Quinn Miller, and several other favorites. Let me start by saying that the story was good. It was a slow burn in the romance department, but the characters were well-developed and likable. However, with that said, it was a tiny bit of a let-down as I was expecting a romance when the vast majority of this book was about Maggie reclaiming her life and her sense of identity. In that regard, it was awesome, and you can’t help but root for her as she takes it all back with determination and grit. But you know how it is when you bite into a piece of chocolate expecting a gooey caramel center only to find one of those funky nougats in the middle instead? Still delicious, just not what you were expecting? Yeah, that’s kinda how I felt about this story. It was a good story about a woman - just not so much a great romance about a woman and her leading man.
This book fell a bit short for me. I didn't really feel like I got to know either of the characters, nor did I feel like we ever got to see their relationship blossom. There were so many dramatic and high-stress situations and I just didn't feel like the book ended realistically given everything that happened.
While I liked Elijah, I just didn't get the badass military, fiercely-protective man that the Salvation Society is known for. I loved that Maggie grew into her own strength and wasn't a damsel in distress, but she went through back to back to back high stress situations and I didn't really feel like her and Elijah grew out of them. That girl got put through the wringer, and I'm really unsure how their relationship blossomed to love given everything Maggie (and both of them at some points) went through.
Sometimes we find people who come into our lives for a reason. We don't usually know what that reason is but we are truly grateful for them. In resolve, Maggie's heart is truly broken and shattered in the worse way when she loses the love of her life. She decides to move for a fresh new start as well as a new job. When Ashton her new friend takes her to a self-defense class she meets Elijah again. This isn't your normal sparks fly when they meet things. No this is more like a gradual friendship turned into living life again. Maggie though doesn't know if she can move on from her past and see her future with Elijah. Elijah has been through his own stuff and meeting Maggie has changed something. He's protective of her but will wait patiently until he can win her over. Fall in love with this book.
After the death of her fiancé Maggie is finding it unbearable when everywhere she goes and everything she does is a reminder of all she lost. When her cousin suggests that she moves in with her it seems like the new beginning she needs.
Elijah has transitioned from a career as a Navy SEAL and is now working in law enforcement. He meets Maggie through a mutual friend, and she inspires feelings he hasn’t felt before but before they can have a future he must help her heal from the past.
Elijah is so understanding and supportive while Maggie is brave as she tries to pick up the pieces of her life as they take us on a journey filled with emotion, healing and love.
Life, love and loss. This book had all the feels. Not to mention a lot of interaction with some original salvation seals with there kick ass wives. Elijah and Maggie were beautiful together. Both were broken, but Maggie more so than Elijah but they manage to put each other back together, It was instant attraction for the both of them with there first encounter at Cole Securities. After that there was no fighting it. Couple of bumps along the way made it a really beautiful story. I loved all characters in this book, they all have great personalities and everyone meshed perfectly together. Perfectly written.
I absolutely loved the fact that this author wrote about PTSD so beautifully. Most sople her PTSD and automatically think not link it with military and some people don’t actually see it as real. So the fact that the author had Maggie deal with ptsd so perfectly was amazing. She helped understand that anyone who has been through a deep trauma of any kind can unfortunately suffer from ptsd. With that said Maggie and Elijah were perfect for each other. Sure there is a tiny bit of the book where you kinda want to hate Elijah but then you love him again. This a definite must read.
Another author new to me- but Sally Holt delivers in this amazing read. Maggie has suffered an incredible loss, attempting to start over she moves to Virginia Beach with her cousin. First day interviewing for a job at Cole Security she meets Elijah as well as all the other favorites. I love Ashton in this book she becomes such a good friend to Maggie. Both have had rough pasts but they are a perfect match. love his family too. GREAT READ!!!!

I absolutely loved this story! Maggie is an amazing and strong character even though she doesn’t think so at first. Her story will take you on an adventure of growth and healing. Elijah is sweet and funny. He is just what Maggie didn’t know she needed. Their story is one of patience, love, and determination.
Emotions will run wild in this story. I felt for Maggie and fell instantly for Elijah and their developing relationship. It's sweet, sexy, and had me unable to put this down until the end. This is my first book by this author and now I want more.
I enjoyed the book up until the end. It was a happy ever after but her leaving her job to join the Navy was crazy in my opinion. I will read Sally's books though. Hopefully they better.
ANOTHER great book in the Salvation Society Novels! Great characters... an AMAZING storyline that makes you feel! Another new great author to add to my list!
