I'll be honest: I have no idea what I'm doing.
Wait. Let me back up. Name's Finn Proudwater, and I'm one of only a few mermen left in the sea. My mom hid me from Oceanid society and raised me away from the expectations and crowds and ceremony. We lived in secret up until a couple years ago, when the love of my life appeared: Marin Ocean Adamaris Whitecrest.
When we met, I thought we'd swim off into the sunset together. But that's because I didn't know anything about mermaid society. Its traditions, its etiquette... or that the mermaid of my dreams was the Crown Princess, and her father, the King, wasn't too keen on the idea of a no-name merman like me being with her. In fact, he didn't like that a no-name merman existed. He was certain I needed the societal baggage being a dude brings.
I thought I was screwed— that I'd be forced to live a life of decorated sex slavery. But then Marin did something that stunned me: she challenged dear old dad for the Crown, and won. She saved my life at the expense of her own freedom.
A love story for the ages, right?
... Yeah, not so fast. The thing is, for a little over a year I've been asking her to marry me. And she's turned me down over and over and over again.
But we're going into extended lock down below water, and I have nothing but time to devote to winning her hand in marriage. I plan to ask her every day until she cracks. Or I do.
