Review for Hostile Fates by India R. Adams

As with all India R. Adams books Hostile Fates is raw, gritty, emotional, full of heart and laced with bit a darkness. She does not shy away from the darker and more difficult aspects of life, but in the midst of the darkness, there is always hope and healing.

I have been dying for Lynx and Elle's story since the very first time I met them in Bleed Me! It's no wonder they are leaders, strong and fierce in their love and devotion to the club and to each other because their story is rocky with heartbreaking moments filled with pain and betrayal. Hostile Fates gives us a small part of their story and it left me reeling. How the author packs so much emotion and heart into a short story I do not know. Some full length books I've read did not give me the amount of feels as her novellas do.

The side characters....all I can say is I love Legend and Dagger! I laughed until I cried. I love these guys so much and it was such a fun read seeing their banter and how they made others feel so at ease with their humor. It brought a lightness to balance out the darkness. Proof that in life we can still have moments of beauty in the midst of dark times.

So if you're looking for a book that will both make your heart melt but also break for the pain the characters have been through, definitely check out this story and others by India R. Adams.

Okay, so I read them all and I was blown away. I love the reason this anthology came together and each story is intense, but has the romance we all crave. While the stories are steamy and romantic, they touch upon a real issue and that had me unable to put these stories down. The authors did such an amazing job with their own story, it's so hard for me to pick a favorite. So just pick this up and devour them all!

Wow this first story had me in tears😭. Do powerful and emotional, this poor girl lived in hell because of of a mistake. All teenagers rebel at some point and break out, thankfully most are h7armless and they learn from it. Survivors guilt, ptsd and fear haunt Dehlia, not matter what her family try to do to help. This is deep subject matter but the characters are fabulous, loving and supportive. Fletcher especially understands exactly how to handle her, or when to give her space. Her dad near the end 😭 honestly I have a huge lump in my throat and tears still in my eyes. And that's with the happy ending. I guess my tbr list is going to grow again as I go check out Jane Blyth books. I will never be rich.

Story 2
Honestly I have to say Tank was not the easiest guy to love, I knew somewhere deep inside him was a much more worthy man, he just needs to let him out. I empathised so much with Jess, she showed love, trust and unwavering support until a point when she needed to look out for herself. This was full of pain, love and fear. I think Tank feared he just wasn't good enough or protective enough. Sometimes though no matter what not everyone can be saved. Well written with a twisting plot that moves over different missions as well as on home turf. Suspenseful and there is some action. Really good read.

Another new to me author and more books bought. This anthology is going to cost me a fortune st this rate. 3 for 3 .
This third story is intense from the start, one character fighting for his life the other hoping to end hers, colliding in the middle. Suspenseful as I kept expecting repercussions, though not quite what happened. These characters were easy to like as we're the MC people around them, although some serious subject matter there was also a fair bit of humour. Elle was feisty and had a wicked way with words and had me smiling at her sassy backchat, she soon had them all wrapped around her little finger and they would die to protect her. This story is also haunting, her past hasn't been easy and I could understand her wanting to escape even if that meant dying to do so. It is well written, gripping and very easy to sink into, I was hooked from the first few lines. I can't wait for more from these characters and I need to know what happens after the epilogue.

Scary just how easy it is for kids, women to get snatched and forced into life that should never be. The pain and anguish, the long suffering after affects that sometimes never stop. This story starts fairly gently but soon spirals as events unfold, firstly with the team and then with kidnapping. But one thing still shone through despite all they go through and that's love between Dana and Terry that started with their very first meet. Although there is some violence there is no actual graphic content especially of rape. It is hard to imagine that things like this happen but they do and this story highlights just how easily it can happen. Gripping, interesting and well written, it had me wanting more from this couple and how they get on helping Micah and his mum try to recover from the trauma. Such a great read.

I loved Willow, sassy and feisty determined to rule the roost and keep everyone on best behaviour or watch the claws. I loved the connection between the two main characters from the start and that Rory quickly realised she wasn't a murderer. This story had a big twist, it was gripping with a steady flow and interesting plot. I loved it

Only let down on this gripping and powerful story was the cliff at the end. I sure hope the next part is not only written but published. Great characters and written with sensitivity to the subject matter, I could understand the pain of the survivors and why some just can't overcome the trauma. Maybe with centres for real like the one in this story with caring understanding people running and helping in them may just make a difference. It is hard to imagine things like this happening in this day and age but I know evidence shows it does. Emotional read but Blood really showed what a real man is, being supportive, caring and so understanding and protective. Beautifully written. I'm going to check for the next part of this now.

Although the basis of this story is tragic and horrifying I found it to be beautiful and inspiring as the characters slowly overcome everything forced on them in there pasts. Reconnecting to of them find something deep that takes on another dimension and a deeper relationship that none ever expect. It was emotional often drawing tears from me, it was also steamy but in such a moving way as you know just how much trust and love each progressive act takes. Another author to go stalk, honestly every one so far.

This is a tense read with hard subject matter covered but written in a way that gets the message across without it being in your face. So no direct child character is actually used in the story, it is a more generalised cover of the wider subject. There is some action, suspense and violence, some of that is against a woman but no rape. Well written and interesting as well as informative, opening up readers minds to what is happening even though this is fiction and not real events. I loved just how strong Kalea is for such a quiet woman, she certainly didn't back away when she needed to fight. Ryker, so tormented by his past I could feel his pain but somehow Kalea broke through his barriers which eventually allowed him to put the past in some order by hearing the other side. Loved it and I'm off to spend more money with another new to me author.

Well I was really starting to get into that story when it stopped. On a cliff ! Was it the end or just the beginning?

Last story and an author I know, characters I know and love. This story was one my main reasons to buy this anthology and it was so worth it. Interesting plot full of suspense and some action. There is a bit of violence but not anything I found to be extreme. Women being sold into sex trafficking is never ok but Sam showed such strength the first time and that same strength carries her through this story, this time she has a real reason to get win. Loved it.

This anthology as a whole deals with stories containing human traffickers, it might be women sold into the sex trade or kids for the same or for illegal adoptions. It isn't easy subject matter and some of these stories were very moving, making me cry, but I also found that all the woman were strong even when they felt broken they still fought for their lives and freedom. Things like this need to be stopped, governments need to do more, tighten gaps in rules and borders. Police also need to listen to people reporting missing women or kids, not turn a blind eye or insist on more evidence first, it could be to late by then. I know they are stretched but again more funding from governments for more staff to work these crimes. These stories are fiction but this really does happen and it needs to stop. Thankyou to all the authors who participated and highlighted these crimes. Read in November 2021

With fantastic stories by some amazing authors, Out of the Shadows is one anthology you won’t want to miss.

**Review: Dez by Lindsay Becs**

After reading a few books of Lindsay Becs, it’s apparent that she is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. This story is fantastic and I wish it was longer. In Dez, we have two people brought together by a horrifically tragic past. In each other they find comfort and understanding. Throw in one more and they find the love they thought they’d never have.

**Review: One Taste of Hope by Amanda Siegrist**

One Taste of Hope is part of the One Taste series. This story is fantastic. It’s got humor, mystery, and heat. Rory and and Brooke meet over a murder case and the rest is history.

**Review: Some Mistakes are Unforgivable by Jane Blythe**

Running from her past and faced with horrible guilt, Dahlia never imagined she’d have to come back to the place where it all started. Fletcher is determined to she Dahlia that what happened was never her fault, but can he help in time to stop the danger from getting her? Dahlia’s story is intense, emotional, and dark. A fantastic read!

A collection of stories for a great cause and I plan to read each one of them but for now I will share my review on Target Lost by Patricia Eddy.

This story blew me away! It is packed full of emotions that will leave the readers breathe less, determined to see what happens, and hoping for a great outcome. Dana and Terry both suffer loss in different ways but no less emotional. They bond in the most unlikely places and are immediately attracted to each other but can’t act on it, then they lose it all. A few years later Dana is still fighting her battles while being strong for her sister and nephew. When hope is dismal things bring Terry back into her life and a little hope as well. Terry and Dana embark on a journey to get back what was lost and they are both so strong that I loved them instantly. I can’t wait for their story to be expanded because I know it will be amazing.

My Review is for Some Mistakes are Unforgivable by Jane Blythe

I loved Dahlia and Fletchers story! She has so much guilt and pain in her heart that she’s shut out everyone who loves and cares for her but when the past comes back to haunt her even though she’s still haunted it brings her back home and Fletcher sees her again and she’s no longer who he remembered but he knows one thing he will help her beat her demons and make sure she’s protected

From the Out of the Shadows Anthology I read: "One Taste of Hope" by Amanda Siegrist.

I love the “ One Taste Series” by Amanda Siegrist and I was excited to learn that she had added another fun-loving and romantic couple to the series for us to enjoy.

Brooke got tangled up in a murder invetigation and Rory was the detective assigned to the case. Rory was instantly smitten with Brooke but he wasn’t sure about her cat Willow, who didn’t like him at all. Rory realized that Brooke and Willow were a package deal so he needed to figure out how to win both of their hearts. Brooke fell for Rory the minute she saw him standing in her driveway, staring at her from behind his sexy sunglasses. He made her terribly nervous which caused her to ramble on about nothing as he was questioning her about the case. Her cat Willow was rude to Rory and when he left, Brooke thought she would never see him again. When danger arrived on her doorstep, Brooke could only think of one person who could calm her beating heart. Can Rory solve the case of the murdered executive while also keeping Brooke safe from the uncertainty that was surrounding her?

This review is for Collateral Damage by Ryleigh Sloan I LOVED Jess and Tank(Chris) soooo much!! Tank is one of the characters from Ryleigh's super awesome book The Dark Side of Chemistry. Tank was pretty bad ass in DSOC, and he still is in Collateral Damage, but you also see a softer side when he's with Jess. They are so good together, and Jess and Tank both are struggling with things from their pasts. Jess has always felt like she was on the outside looking in, being with Chris she starts to feel like she belongs, but there are issues between them. Chris being a military man, he doesn't open up much, and some of that is job related but not all of it. Jess understands that Chris can't talk about certain things, but she feels bad because it feels to her like Chris is shutting her out. Something happens that devastates both Chris and Jess and it may be something that they can't come back from. I can't recommend this book loud enough, you will love Jess and Tank, and you will be rooting for them throughout the entire book!! I adore Ryleigh and have since the first book I read, and my love for her words grows with every book she comes out with, I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!!

***Collateral Damage by Ryleigh Sloan Review***
Collateral Damage by Ryleigh Sloan was a military romance I didn't know I needed. I was so excited to get to read Chris (Tank) and Jess's story, This story started off super steamy, and I loved getting all wrapped up in Chris and Jess' journey to HEA. Chris is such a complex character who has built walls around his heart to protect himself. Jess is just the woman to tear down those walls and love the man he is. These two have several obstacles to overcome due to Chris's job with the marine's, but once Chris finds the ability to open up and learn to trust, their love is undeniable.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If you love a military romance, with a hot protective male, a passionate and fierce female, secret marine action with suspenseful twists and turns, steamy times, cute kids, loyal friends, and a make your heart happy HEA, then you will love this book. I am looking forward to more from Ryleigh Sloan.

This review is for Hostile Fates by India R Adams.

Once again, India grabs me by my metaphorical balls and dares me to hold on tight. I have been waiting a while for Lynx and Elle's beginning. I have been patient because I just knew in my heart that when they first met, it was not all hearts, rainbows, and shining things. It was during a time of danger, brokenness, and death. I couldn't have been more right with my assumption. Lynx was in a bad way but when he stumbles upon his angel, all that he had been through is nothing compared to the sadness he sees in Elle's eyes. Elle has her own demons riding her back but there is no way she could let those soulful gray eyes of Lynx's come into any more trouble, so she did what most wouldn't do. She dropped everything to help a stranger, which made me love her even more. When I say Elle has some demons, I mean this poor girl has been through hell and back with the devil being her jailer. To keep that level of compassion just goes to show her true character and will. Which Lynx recognizes from a mile away and makes him bound and determined to make her his.

These stories are hard and full of turmoil but India has a way of writing that wraps around your soul like a comfy blanket and keeps you safe during the journey. She tells the tales of the damaged so she can bring light to all of the travesties against them and give them a voice. Her words are bringing more notice in the fight against human trafficking and I will support her all the way. We all must remember that damaged souls are worth saving.

I don’t think I was ever this excited to read an anthology, because usually I have love –hate relationship with them since the stories are usually short so I would always want a full length book lol. But look at this amazing line up and all the romantic suspense stories we got. And it’s such a great cause.

One Taste Of Hope by Amanda Siegrist is a part of One Taste series. It’s such a great addition to both this anthology and series. From the first chapter, through writing prompts until the end I was captivated, engrossed and enthralled. It was so skillfully intertwined and told with darkish theme, intense, emotional and raw storyline. This story blew me away in the best possible way. Rory and Brooke just fit perfectly into this series - anthology and with other characters. I love that the author kept her humor and fun loving underline I so love.
What I loved about Brooke and Rory is that they are both flawed and complex characters. From the moment they met there is an undeniable attraction and sparks fly whenever they are near each other or together. He made her nervous which caused her to ramble and be fidgety. He can’t explain what exactly is about her that gets to him, but he feels this pull and connection. Brooke thought she would never see him again but when the danger comes knocking on her door, Rory is there to protect her and make her feel safe. I loved their dynamic, slight banter and connection. These two made me smile, laugh, swoon, cry and experience a lot of feelings along the way. The epilogue was so beautiful and felt like there was only peace, happiness and calmness.

Based on One Taste of Hope, Out Of The Shadows is a definite 5 star read and great collection of intense, emotional romantic suspense stories. I cannot wait to read the other ten. I highly recommend it and hope you are going to pick up your copy.

Great short reads that pack a punch and have you wanting more.
Two reads stick out for me. First, Target Lost by Patricia D. Eddy with Terry and Dana, has them reuniting after three years of not knowing what happened to either of them and they finally get their chance at a HEA with each other…but first they have to find child traffickers and free her nephew.
Second, Scorched Rain by Louise Dawn with Ryker and Kalea who meet and then end up together when Ryker volunteers to be Kalea’s bodyguard on a dangerous investigative piece…looking into children being kidnapped and sold into an illegal adoption ring.
Steam, danger, suspense, and amazing characters that leave you wanting more more more!!!

10 captivating stories by 10 wonderful authors, all in one book!

Hostile Fates by India R Adams - I’ve loved everything I’ve read by this author. So I knew going into this story that it would be good. I’m also lucky to have had the pleasure of reading some of the Steel Stallions MC Series, and loved every minute of this short story.

Some Mistakes Are Unforgivable by Jane Blythe-
I’ve read nearly all this authors books. She’s amazing! Crime, rescue, action and suspense, she has dabbled in a bit of everything. This book is a short story from her rescue series, which I have been working my way through….It’s fantastic!

The buying and selling of humans is a global criminal industry. People don’t want to believe it’s happening, but sadly it still is. This anthology was intended to bring human trafficking out of the shadows and into the light.

Out of the stories in this anthology, so far, I have read Taret Lost by Patricia Eddy and Her Darkest Obsession by Anna Blakely. I hadn't read Eddy before so I was giving her a try and I really enjoyed the story over all. I adore Blakely's work so I knew that I would enjoy this novella. Both stories give you the suspense you crave, but keep them short and steamy. These are great little tastes into the authors ways with words, and they gave well rounded stories and characters that weren't lacking with the novella length.

What a bargain...you ten great stories and support a very worthy cause. Reconnect with a favorite author or discover a new one. Doesn't get much better than that.

Target Lost - Patricia D Eddy
Who knew that a wintry cold night spent stargazing would lead to love? Terry Owens and Dana Michaels only spent a few short hours together but it was something neither of them could forget, even three years later. Life has a way of thwarting even the best of intentions so we often change gears and move on. What were the odds Terry and Dana would cross paths again and he would be the one person to help her in the quest that has consumed her for three years? Reconnecting while working to find her nephew makes them both realize the depth of their feelings and they only grow stronger as each day passes.

This review is for India R. Adams "Hostile Fates." I was provided an ARC for my honest opinion/review of this story with nothing to gain.

Fate brings two tortured soulmates together in the most dire of circumstances. One fighting for his life the other wanting to let go of her will to live. Only fate will bring these two together and mend what has been missing from before.

This book is the beginning of Lynx and Elle's story and if you thought these two had heat and passion before, well this book will show how they are truly fated for one another. There is definitely an instant connection for these two, and with one wanting to survive and the other looking to death will have you wondering why they would gravitate to each other. It's as if they were meant to find one another that frightful night.
This book does touch on human trafficking and how we need to bring more light to this dark and depraved world most only think happens far far away from us, but the truth of the matter is that it's much closer than we realize and we need to be more vigilant and help fight against it. If you have read India's books before you know she has this amazing ability to tell the most tragic stories that will gut you at times but slowly heal you at the end only to leave this everlasting impression on your heart. This story isn't as graphic as most of her books are, but it hits home on the level where you want to see more of Lynx and Elle's story and hope with all hope that they will forever change the world and help one more damaged soul at a time.
This couple has be highly anticipated and this story only sheds light on how these two are so very perfect for another. I absolutely can't wait for more of this MC world. Know this is a story of healing and saving a soul that may have been looked at as damaged by all others, but will forever shine for the right people. This world might be dark, raw, and gritty at times and make most want to shy away from it, but allowing this author to take you into this world as only she can is an experience you will never forget. This story was gripping and intense and gives you feels that will leave you wanting more by the end.

Review of Collateral damage by Ryleigh Sloan

One thing you can always be sure of when you open a Ryleigh Sloan book is that it's going to be fantastic, and that's exactly what collateral damage is and it's one hell of a bumpy ride!!!

I was so excited to start Tank's story, The Dark Side of Chemistry is the book that introduced me to Ryleigh's books and it was soooo good being back in this world.

This is a beautifully written story that touches on some really hard subjects, you will feel every emotion possible as you follow the story of Tank and Jess , on the very bumpy and steamy road they have to ride to get to a very satisfying HEA

Loved every minute ❤

My review is based on reading Mine to Keep by Dani Rene:

An intriguing read set in a dark and very wicked world…

There are no heroes in this story only those that are ungodly and corrupt, some of whom are better than the others. I’m not sure I was supposed to, but I felt sad for Maeve in many ways; she’d lived her whole life among evil people and was still being manipulated by them.

Sawyer is by no means a good man but he is loyal to his employer, diligent in his role as an enforcer/hitman, and he is obsessed by Maeve. There is an instant, physical attraction between Maeve and Sawyer, both servants of different Gods (I love the irony), and their heated encounters show how strong the pull between them is.

This was a disturbing read at times, but there were also glimpses of humanity in among the darkness. The story, though short, had a satisfactory-for-now conclusion, but there are still many unanswered questions to be addressed. I want to know more about this sinful world and the people inhabiting it, so I hope there will be another installment in the future…I received an advanced copy of this story from the author

If you are a lover of Anthologies, prepare yourself for this one. So many amazing authors! It’s going to blow your mind!

One story that stands out is Mine To Keep by Dani Rene. If you thought you knew about Heaven and Hell, this story definitely puts a new twist on it. Sawyer works for a higher being, to rid the world of bad people, but he does have a somewhat good side to himself as well. Especially when it comes to Maeve, a young girl he sees at a convent. Is she a Nun? He hopes not because there is something about her that he is attracted to. As for Maeve, she has seen things that no one should ever be privy to and so feels her only out is to join a convent. But is it the right decision?? This story is dark and a bit depraved, but I loved everything about it. I’m really hoping that this author decides to make it a full length story because I want more!

My review is for Dez from Lindsay Becs.

It took me all of 1 paragraph to realize who this book was about. If you're a Becs fan then you have already been introduced to Dez in Crave All, the third book in the King Family series and you know there's some trauma there. If you haven't read it yet.. believe me you want to.

Dez's story is insane. I definitely feel like we could have gotten a full book from him but Becs makes sure everything you need to understand him is here. I'm just a greedy B especially when the story is this gripping.

This book is one I wished I read slower and savored more. I was not ready to flip to the last page.

Jane Blythe’s story starts off from the get go with major suspense and doesn’t let go till the last page.

Dahlia Black has felt guilty over what happened to her and her friends for years. She left Rivers End and never wanted to come back.

I just saw you get out of the car and came up to say hi. Didn’t realize you were going to going to go all warrior princess on me. I hope I didn’t hurt you, just didn’t want to get an eyeful of that stuff, it's the worst to clean out.”

Fletcher always hoped she would come back and stay now he just needs to convince her.

“Thank you, Fletch. This was exactly what I needed,” Dahlia said softly. “Anytime, Freckles.”

Jane Blythe always comes up with the most crazy whacked out bad guys and this is no exception. Definitely keeps you glued to the pages and cheering for the good guys.
