4. Book 4: 4 stars I purchased a copy of the Hartwell, Maine set clean novella Matchmaking the Midwife: Health Care Heroes Book 4 : Ella and Adam by Maddie Evans and this review was given freely. This is what I thought the entire series would be like. A story containing realistic characters where there is a good balance between the healthcare worker doing her job and her personal life. There is both family and medical drama to capture and hold interest and thankfully there is no shooting or graphic violence. This is a story of emotional growth and moving past grief while finding both love and security. Widowed midwife Ella finds her orderly and quiet life turned upside down when her first client as a full-fledged midwife, the free spirited Piper, plays matchmaker between her father Adam and Ella.
5. Book 5: 5 stars I purchased a copy of the clean Washington Stated set novella Saving the Firefighter: Health Care Heroes Book 5: Brooke and Trace by Donna K. Weaver and this review was given freely. Ultimately heartwarming. Realistic characters, some drama and a twenty-year old secret are blended together in this second chance romance where the characters survived abuse and tragedy, are learning to thrive again and, are secretly longing for love and family. Finally out from under the control of her manipulative lawyer father, grief stricken Brooke Howe mourns her father’s sudden death until her housekeeper Audrey reveals a 20+ year old secret which spurs Brooke to leave San Diego to seek answers in the quaint Savage Citadel Castle and its Wildstone Park Historical Village in Washington State. Brooke finds more than she expected in the form of her emotionally and physically scarred high school friend; burn survivor, forester, EMT and volunteer fireman; Trace Barton.
I love reading stories that have ties to other series or previous books in their series and this book by Stacey Haynes is one of those. We’ve met other members of Caitlin’s family in another series. Caitlin and Tyler are interesting characters and they draw you into the story. In addition to the romance there is humor and the issue of the horror and danger of human trafficking.
