The Population Zero Trilogy #2

Population Zero: Book 2

Rate this book
If you thought Population Zero: Book 1 was an exhilarating, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride, brace yourself for a blistering round two. Slater and the gang are back with a vengeance!

A stolen police cruiser with a trunk full of weapons…
….A missing woman in the middle of a war zone…
….A vicious gang hell bent on revenge.
What could possibly go wrong?

How far would you go to honor your family? What would you risk to give them the ending they deserve? And who must you become to survive the nightmare that is now America’s darkest hour?

While Slater and Scout charge headlong into the apocalypse in search of a missing woman, Gabriella and the gang realize that a nasty skirmish is about to become an all-out war.

Deeper in San Francisco, Johan and Lilitu are faced with a challenge that puts them on a crash course with one of their victim’s kids.

At the center of all of this chaos is the devious, unpredictable quantum computing program, Population Zero. The agenda has never been more clear, for the line in the sand has been drawn and crossed. Can our survivors save themselves, let alone the future of mankind?

Buckle your seatbelts, charge your kindle, then get ready for a high-octane, post-apocalyptic adventure like no other…

As with all of Ryan’s books, things seldom go according to plan, feelings get hurt with blades and bullets, tons of action ensues, and tears are likely to be spilled. Not to worry, though, nothing smooths over a spicy apocalyptic thriller like a few well-timed laughs. #Errol #Goliath'sNuts

If you think you have this story figured out, trust me, you don’t. Get ready for the twist…

Even worse than the first. See my first review for a real breakdown. More of a slapstick comedy than a book that is serious. This one goes into them trying to find the dead body of the mother killed in book one. Oh yes, as that's what you are going to do when society is breaking down. Go on a jaunt through the city to find a dead body. Please. Give me a break. The dialogue still hasn't improved with them saying things no one would ever say in real life unless they are moron. More talking about being alphas as if the author needs to make it clear to the reader he's a hard man. I won't be buy book three. I made it through book 1 to the end but only half way through this one as its just that bad. DNF. I do not recommend. Skip it.

Control Measures Work

The end of book one I kept thinking " What's with finding your dead Mom at risk of getting yourself killed?" I will eventually find out. I didn't ....but what I did find was a awesome story inside my Kindle of the twins adventure going back to LA. What a fun, action packed story. I loved how the author threw in phrases from speeches, books and notable quotes that fit the situation. The play on words. Very unique. Don't get me started on the characters... and that is what they are. The albino-- tighty whitey underwear guy. The Twinkies. The child computer nerd. I am still holding out she will save the day.

I have been to the Georgia Guidestones. What is written there is basically what the United Nations Mission Statement. Population of no more than 500,000,000. That's for the whole world. I am excited to finally read something about this group of people who want to thin our 'herd'.

Fav quotes:
A)Dionisio had been thinking of typical gang warfare when he should have given greater consideration to the rules of Mountain folk.
B) By then, people had begun to realize there was no longer a left or right. Either you loved America, and you were trying to save it, or you hated it, and you cheered on its destruction.
C) “Control measures work and Population Zero knows this. I think that’s why it is only loosening its grip on us. It wants to give us a false sense of confidence.

Definitely recommend this book and the series. Very entertaining and scary at the same time. Looking forward to book three.

Some inconsistencies, but great overall

Few things just don’t make sense. Like setting up your doomsday sanctuary in the middle of huge city and then sniping at National Guard troops from the roof - those people have large guns, Apache helicopters, predator drones and everything else. It doesn’t matter how reinforced your building is - Carl-G, breaching charges, 105mm cannon, minigun or Hellfire missile will break through. I understand that the guy in charge is insane psychopath, but at least someone should have protested.
And the whole idea of staying in place that is being constantly attacked by viscous gang rather than moving to bug-out house that is not that far away is really dumb. As well as fighting through war zone, risking certain death and killing dozens of people to retrieve dead body for proper burial doesn’t sound right. I understand it’s their moser, but book just doesn’t make me feel like it was really necessary.
That said, it’s a solid, good and entertaining read.

Americans are what makes the country....

The plot expands and the AI shows a bit more of its strategy. It is no longer controlled by the group that brought it into being but has become autonomous and formulated its own even more deadly plan for the near eradication of humanity... giving hope only to take it away over and over. Our group of Americans led by Slater Corrigan and "Captain Underpants" prepare to retreat to a defensible location and endure long enough to formulate a plan to help some of the world endure and America to remain alive in the souls of those who can live long enough.... On to Book Three without delay....

Great and clear writing

The author Has Written An Exciting And action field book About the apocalypse That we do not normally see. No superheroes no green berets No Availability to masses of Weapons Except so taken From The enemy. The few Areas where they are typos or Places Where words Get tangled or very excusable. Looking forward to reading population 0Book 3. Thank you so much For Saving me from the Post Apocolyptic book. I will now read everything you have written. Good job, Great job. Continue on my friend.

A great continuation!

Population Zero book 2 continues to follow the lives of Slater, Scout, Gabriella and, of course, Errol as they navigate the world as Population Zero continues to eradicate almost all of humanity. There is great writing, great characters, well constructed action sequences and even moments of great levity in the midst of the death and destruction. 5/5 stars, this is an incredibly enjoyable series and any adult fan of apocalyptic thrillers will love it as much as I have!!

From Paintballs to Bullets

What would it take for you to go from shooting paintballs at people to shooting them with bullets. You find out in this latest book in Ryan Schow’s Population Zero Series. Is it OK for good people to do bad things, and does this make them bad? What makes a family? These issues and the issue of what makes a country and who holds the keys to it’s survival are addressed in this book. A very real and thought provoking book. I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

WOW! I loved this action packed 2nd book in this apocalypse trilogy. Ryan continues to WOW us with his incredible writing. His characters are so real and likable...and one who is a little quirky. But together they are unstoppable. But can they save humanity.
I really cannot wait until book 3....I highly recommend this series, you will not be disappointed.

"God Bless America"

I am absolutely loving this series!! The relationship dynamics and how this group has come together as a team is the best part, not sure I completely trust everyone yet, maybe that's just me though. The way our world is today I can actually see some of these things playing out, cannot wait to read #3. Thank you Ryan for always keeping us entertained 💗

Never disappoints!

Get ready for a rock and roll full pedal to the medal thrill ride. Bang bang your dead isn't just a phrase for this motley crew! I usually like to visualize the characters described but taking a hard pass on this crew lol. Read it, you'll understand. Schow shines!

apocalypse

So as I was reading I saw the US as it is now. The violence is already here. The corruption is staggering. It won’t be long when stories like this will become reality. I wish more people would read these books and learn. Great story telling! I loved book 1 and book 2. Onto book 3

Intelligence verses Mayem

The 2nd book fleshes out the protagonists, while reading like a Mad Max film.

Mesmerizing dialogue between flawed citizen caught literally in a Global conspiracy.
Armed only with what they scavenge, in LA, the small group has a goal... But will all make it to their safe retreat?

I've listened to the audiobook, the performance was really good but the story is just boring. No new ideas, there was no catch, everything happens as you would expect it to happen after an apocalyptical event. There's too much politics in the book, the author is trying to ride the wave of BLM / Woke protests and it's just not very creative. Won't be reading book 3.

Listened to parts 1 and 2 on Audible while driving across the country. It was obvious Ryan did his homework on modern cyber asymmetrical warfare as conducted by a rogue cabal. The characters are fleshed out realistically and they're appropriately likable or hated. I liked book one a little better, but this one is good enough that I'll see it through and finish the trilogy.

Well on the Way

If you think the world is a mess now read Population Zero. It just might be forecasting the future. If it is it is scary as heck. If it is not it is scary as heck. Can't put it down and get to the mundane of everyday things that need done. Bet you can't either. Are you ready for the end of life as we know it. Time to start prepping but will it ever be enough.

Okay. No more books until I finish packing my house, Ryan.

Hershey bar stains.
Bloody gunfights.
And a bad ass heroine.

It just keeps getting more interesting

Ryan keeps ramping up the volume in PZ Book 2. As the lines are.drawn and the.various protagonists square off, the tension increases. What will happen next in this series? More importantly, how soon before book 3?

Population Zero - Book 2 - Another great book by Ryan Schow

Book 2 continues the struggles of our intrepid group. I found it hard to put this one down. What is scary is how much this mirrors our world today.

Once again Ryan nails it!

After reading most of Ryan's books, this series really is next level. The plot, characters and storyline won't let you put it down. He is a great author and his books are some of the best that I have ever read. Can't wait for number 3 to come out.

Not worth it

Simple story line lots of superfluous violence simply written. Story arc not well developed nor are characters. Weak effort. Could have been a good book with storyline.

This is still a page turner to me. I am enjoying the mental break to get lost in a make believe world. While praying it fully remains a make believe world...

This is an incredible story with the best characters that Ryan could put in the story. Incredible action and suspense, with a small love story to boot. Great read, I couldn't put it down.

Chillingly Prescient

Well developed characters who you can almost feel step out of the book. And as the plot unspools, this novel begins to be a clarion call of what the global elites intend for a very near future.

Too political

Some of the storyline I like but two thirds of it is ranting against the Democratic party. I don't like reading a fictional story full of all that BS, get enough of it in real life.
