“COLLISION COURSE” Reeling from the events on JEKARA and forced to confront the reality of her own choices and losses, LEIA ORGANA meets QI’RA to discuss the person they both have in common - heroic smuggler HAN SOLO! How has he influenced their lives to that point? And how will it change their fate moving forward?
Charles Soule is a #1 New York Times-bestselling novelist, comics author, screenwriter, musician, and lapsed attorney. He has written some of the most prominent stories of the last decade for Marvel, DC and Lucasfilm in addition to his own work, such as his comics Curse Words, Letter 44 and Undiscovered Country, and his original novels Light of the Jedi, The Endless Vessel, The Oracle Year and Anyone. He lives in New York.
"Release our ship and let us go. We have nothing to talk about.” – “Oh, but we do, Leia. After all… We both loved the same man.”
Ahh, finally it happened, what I've been waiting for this whole crossover event: Qi'ra and Leia met. This issue is all about their interaction, their dynamic, how they see each other and how they are linked through Han. I loved how Soule wrote their scenes together - it was so worth the wait.
Soule writes Qi'ra very well. She explains her actions in this issue, explains what she wanted with Han and why she auctioned him while still claiming to care for him, and I loved how the reader can kinda decide for themselves whether to trust her or to join in Leia, who is determined to see Qi'ra as a bad person who is just manipulating those around her. I'm also eager to see how Qi'ra and Crimson Dawn will play into the future of this series and the storyline of getting Han back: there are definite hints that Qi'ra will be involved in all that, and I am intrigued.
Also, in general, all the nods to Solo and those characters are making my Solo-loving heart very happy. Having Lando and Qi'ra reunite, mention Elthree in their conversations and all that - so good!
I expected something more. I like how the Solo movie is being folded into the comics but this just wasn’t enough. Also Qi’Ra looked all wrong for the first time in this whole run. Her neck was way off. Like a giraffe’s!
