Venice is one of those places I've always wanted to go to, and I'm starting to actually plan a trip. And, when I plan anything, I go to the library to start reading and gathering ideas and inspiration.
This is a beautiful book, less a practical guide (you wont find recommendations for specific hotels, for example), but more a guide of the atmosphere of the city, with some highlights into interesting bits of past, present, and trivia for the city.
It has only increased my desire to go!

WOW!

This book offers a wonderful sense for the feel of Venice, but I wouldn't recommend it as a standalone travel guide (no hotel recommendations or such - it's really more about architecture and culture.). If you want a book that makes you want to board a plane with a one way ticket to Venice, this is it!

A beautiful and unusual guide to Venice. The photography is just gorgeous, obviously it is Venice. The suggestions for short tours and places to visit are quirky and interesting. Yes, there are a few clichés, but what would a trip to Venice be without the odd cliché?
Overall this is a must have addition to the library of any would be Venetian.

This is a great travelers guide to Venice! Or for those of you who may be more like me, it was a great way to learn about Venice and each of its districts. The images in this book are definitely the selling point. While the information was interesting I found myself drawn to the pictures and studying them. There are a ton of images displaying all aspects of the Venetian culture, history, and daily life.
