As a senior member of the long-established MCU, she has finally found the the peace and stability she has always longed for.But that peace is shattered when a plane falls out of the sky. With almost eight-hundred dead, the MCU is called to investigate the cause of the plane crash, but the answers they find make little sense. Hacking a plane is supposed to be impossible; so how did somebody do it?There's a mass murderer on the loose, but it's not who you might expect.Iain Rob Wright completes Sarah Stone's tragic story with the biggest terrorist attack yet, bringing a tale more sombre and emotional than any before.
One of Horror's most respected authors, Iain Rob Wright is the writer of more than forty books, many of them bestsellers. A previous Kindle All-Star and a mainstay in the horror charts, he is a prolific producer of unique and original stories. From his apocalyptic saga The Gates to his claustrophobic revenge thriller ASBO, Iain writes across a broad spectrum of sub genres, creating both beloved series and standalone titles.
With work available in several languages and in audio, Iain Rob Wright is one of the fastest rising stars in horror, but when not writing he is a dedicated family man. Father to Jack and Molly, and husband to Sally, he is often seen sharing his family memories with his fans on Facebook.
Having just read book 3 in the series "End Play", I was jumping to read this the 4th in the series and was extremely pleased and grateful to Iain Rob Wright for sending me a copy prior to it's publication date in return for an honest, unbiased and unedited review.
Once again, Iain provides a fast-paced and thrilling read starring Sarah Strong and her colleagues at the Major Crimes Unit. From the first page to the last, this book had me absolutely hooked and I fair whizzed through it.
Full of excellent characters, a storyline that is not beyond the realms of reality (scarily so!) and written at a pace that fair trots along, this is a story well written and exciting and one that I would definitely recommend. Although you don't have to have read the others in the series, you won't be disappointed if you do but it does work as a standalone quite well.
I would definitely recommend to others who enjoy getting engrossed in the world of major crimes.
Another intense Sarah Stone thriller which maintains the high standards of the original trilogy. Corruption, Russian criminals, plane crash and computer hacking. Nae bother for Sarah Stone but Iain Rob Wright really needs help with Scottish characters in his stories as they have a painful hybrid of Scots dialect and English regional dialect which really don't work.
Full disclosure – I was provided a copy of this book by the author as part of his Advanced Reader’s group but have voluntarily chosen to write a review. All opinions are my own.
The end of an era
Sarah Stone has spent the better part of the last decade as an officer in Britain’s Major Crimes Unit. Recruited during some of her darkest days by an organization on the brink of closure, Sarah faced down some of her darkest demons while attempting to rid her country of terrorist attacks. Nearing the end of her career, Sarah is tired and just wants to blend back into quiet society as much as her scarred face will allow. But when a passenger jet goes down in the middle of a rural township killing almost 800 people as part of a hacking attack, Sarah once again finds herself searching for a faceless enemy who is on the run. But the MCU are not the only ones searching for the mastermind behind the crash. A local crime boss also has his sights set on the hacker for their own nefarious reasons. As Sarah gets closer to apprehending her final culprit she uncovers a web of deceit and corruption that could forever change the legal and political landscape of Britain. As the major player are revealed, Sarah realizes just who she can and cannot trust.
Terminal is the fourth and final installment in the Sarah Stone Major Crimes Unit themed series of books by author Iain Rob Wright and finally brings to closure a series that Wright initially began to pen in 2014. While quite a departure from his usual horror it can be argued that the Major Crimes Unit series is a horror series in its own right where the monsters are not zombies or demons, but those closer to “home” who want to do unspeakable damage to our land and our homes. For me, this series was so good that I initially read it when it was first written and then a second time in the months leading up to Terminal’s release. Sarah’s character is complex and tortured but she is by far one of the strongest female lead characters I have read in a book ever. The fact that Wright uses events that could happen as the framework for the MCU’s cases also elevates this series to something that really scares me because of the possibilities that he illustrates.
While I will miss Sarah, The Earthworm, and the other members of the MCU I do feel that this is a fitting end to the series. Wright has stepped out of his comfort zones when writing this series, but once again proves he can master any genre he chooses to write. While I will always long for a return to the MCU, even in a passing mention or a short story I am thankful for such a great series that I am sure to read again and again.
The Major Crimes Unit series started off full of action and has never let up. These are all great action thrillers and Terminal, set to be the final book of the series, fits in perfectly. Once more Sarah Stone finds herself up against evil men set on destruction. A plane full with passengers crashes to the ground killing hundreds, sparking a set of consequences that send Sarah and the MCU scrambling for answers. Is their job being made all the harder by someone on the inside giving out valuable intel? Iain Rob Wright delivers again with a neat, fast paced thriller that has the reader wondering where the story will head next. I really enjoyed reading this book and was pleased with how the author worked out an ending for the series. I won't give it away but it was fitting. Another great action thriller from an author that seems able to write in any genre.
Of all the books in the series this one is the most mature. The action scenes are better written than before. The whole series feels like an action movie and this one is no different. Good use of the characters and the author took some turns with a plot I was not expecting. Not a fan of any IT story where somebody can hack into anything at any time, to me the super hacker stories are too outrageous and just allowing for some big plot holes in writing. So thankfully that was not the main part of this book
I've had so much fun with Sarah Stone the past few days. It was nice to go back and finish this series. I've had the book on my bookshelf since 2021 and some how forgot all about it until I just read Iain's newest book 'Student of Death: Flesch and Stone' where Iain reintroduces the wonderfully flawed Sarah Stone in a new position and a new series. That being said, this was a fantastic ending to a great series. I love all of Iain's work, but I find these kinds of stories by him are masterfully written.
Was so thrilled to to find out Sarah was back for her final fling. Was almost hesitant to read this as the trilogy was so good I didn't want to be disappointed but no fear of that! This had everything you would expect for a book from Mr Wright. Non stop action, thrills and spills. Even laughter and a few tears. Fantastic round up to this epic journey. Thanks for the ride! Glad I could join you.
Author Iain Rob Wright is well-known and applauded for his works that are exquisitely terrifying! All of which I love and recommend. But, with the Major Crimes Unit series Mr. Wright has proven himself in the crime thriller genre , as well. I was swept away by the action and characters along with a fast paced storyline. Awesome read!
I love every book I have read, and I have read all but three. This book is about spying in order to bring down the crooked. It is also about a u young man that allows is incredibly abilities to take of his knowledge of action cause consequences. How he realized that the major incident he caused was wrong and he did not mean to kill anyone. The ending of a career, and the beginning of life and real love.
Omg. As I have said before this is a fantastic series. As what I hope isn’t the final book it’s one hell of a ride from start to finish. Masterpiece of story writing at its finest. If you like the other ones you’ll love this. Highly recommended.
Last book in. this action packed daft series that sees more explosions in a book than one would expect to ever see in a library - but anyway it entertained one somewhat even if you sometimes restored to snorting at the silliness.
Full of action and suspense. A great story and a greater ending. A great way to close the book on Sarah, one of the best characters of all time. A must read.
