Cara, a college student and waitress, becomes an accidental victim of a kidnapping orchestrated by mafia man Ace Hale. Despite realising his mistake, Ace is drawn to Cara and decides to keep her captive. Surprisingly, Cara starts to develop feelings for her captor. Ace and Cara had a very interesting agreement: one dance, and her college semester would be paid for. Ace showed Cara what it means to be in charge in the family and how they operate, and she had the choice of whether to stay with him or to run away from all of that.
The characters are captivating, and similar to previous instalments in the series, the emphasis lies on passionate encounters. This novella isn't crafted to be profound or intricate; its purpose is to be rapid, sensual, and stimulating—a sultry and alluring escape. The chemistry between Cara and Ace ignites instantly and intensely, while the storyline remains minimal. As a steamy novella, it fulfils its intended allure. If you've read any book in this series before, surely Ace intrigued you, at least a little. In each book, he's mentioned as dangerous, a character everyone addresses with utmost respect, of course, the head of the Hale family. I couldn't wait to read this book after the entire series. Ace is a very intriguing character, and they portrayed him excellently, just as expected. Unlike the other girls in previous books, Cara even, let's say, thought a bit about what could happen in their relationship and the whole family. It would be a shock if they didn't end up together in the end. I really liked the epilogue, the whole family together.
