Good book
This is my first book by James Reasoner. The characters are well written and there is lots of action in every chapter. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Comparing this book to some of his other westerns i.e. Redemption Kansas, it didn't have the overall character appeal. Ranger Braddock is like an automaton like some windup doll that repeats the same platitudes no matter the event. "I am a Ranger and Rangers always obey the law no matter how hard or dangerous."
The antithesis of the title doesn't really hold up, as he is still duty bound, and the Rangers were still operating, albeit under less authority and organization. The plot itself is an overlay of the typical bad guy - good guy theme - but with none of the depth that we've seen in Reasoner's other books.

What do you do when your world ends? Follow along with GW Braddock and what he did!
When your pappy raises you from a babe to adulthood to be a Texas Ranger, it becomes the only thing that you strive for. GW Braddock Jr followed in his father’s shadow, forever trying to make his own way. Then after taking down Tull Coleman his world ended, his commander informed him that this would be his last job for the rangers. To make matters worse the corrupt court system decided to turn Tull loose on the world again. GW did not know what to do, he drifted from here to there and back again, looking for something but not knowing what! That changed the day he got word that Tull was back on the owlhoot trail again, it all became clear in his mind.
When he rode into the sleepy town of Ozona about midday, he headed for the saloon. All the time he was drifting he had been listening and asking questions hoping for a lead on Coleman. Now he finally had something, or at least he hoped so! Recently the stage had been robbed, the posse found the horribly abused body of the woman the robbers took with them, he knew it had to be the man he was after. With a little heavy-handed encouragement, the bartender finally told him that if he opened his mouth, Coleman would close it for him permanently. He parted from the saloon with the final words that he would get his man. He did not have long to wait, sure enough, a single rider left town and all GW had to do was follow.
Join GW Braddock as he follows the trail heading straight for Tull Coleman, only to have an unexpected detour…
What did I like? This was such an interesting book; I have read other books from this author and was expecting an enjoyable read. James always does an excellent job with his books and the research that he pours into the storylines. You can just imagine the moment of devastation when GW hears that the Texas Rangers would take his badge. The only thing that he ever wanted to do disappeared in a matter of moments. That would be tough to take, as I read, I kept thinking “What would I do?” It certainly makes you wonder!!!
What will you like? Emotional, exciting, rip-roaring, a ton of unexpected surprises, outlaws, and a different version of the “GOOD GUY!” This is certainly a fast-paced read that will take you in on the first page with an excellent storyline that gives you an unusual look at the life of the Texas Ranger. The “OUTLAW” version! Well, we have to admit, even though he does stretch the law a little the outcome will make everyone happy, especially the readers! Don’t miss this unusual read from James Reasoner, “Outlaw Ranger Vol 1” is available NOW!!!

I'll admit, I've only read the first book in this series. However, I'll be following up very soon. As with all his writings, Reasoner shows once again why he's at the top of the tree in this genre. Great scenes, plenty of action, and overall, a great story that will keep you interested until the last page.

Easy Read
Quick, short, easy, read. Not a bad book if your expectations are reasonably low. Shallow characters, predictable, simple story. Classic good guys vs bad guys where tortured hero, facing overwhelming odds, always wins the day.

This book includes two different stories about G. W. Braddock and his career being a Texas Ranger. He was tough, brutal and tried to stay on the right side of the law. We enjoy good western stories and this Volume contains several great battles, events and the harshness of old Texas.

Reasonably good for a western. It was too violent for my taste. Also, the only things we really learned about the main character, GW Braddock, were that his father was a jackass and his only ambition was and is to be a Texas Ranger -- which we read over and over.

Quite the shoot'm up stories. Lots of action and terrible deeds. A man who cannot be anything but a Texas Ranger pulls some tricky moves to save himself and a town.

A good read
A little different from most westerns but the characters are well developed and the storyline is quite interesting.

Good read, interesting story line, and well written. Nice quick read western from an author who doesn't need a spell checker, editor, and proof reader. I look forward to the next in this series.
