Jenna Hartley is USA Today bestselling author who writes forbidden romance that feels good, much like her own real life love story. Her stories feature strong women and swoon-worthy men, as well as sexy, sweet, and laughable moments that reflect real love.
When she's not reading or writing romance, Jenna can be found tending to her growing indoor plant collection (pun intended), decluttering (just ask her husband about "The Great Purge of 2015" as he calls it), and hiking. She lives in Texas with her family and loves nothing more than a good book and good chocolate, except maybe a dance party with her husband and daughter.
26-year old entrepreneur & single mom, Wren is finally ready to put herself out there and fall in love. But Wren didn’t date much before getting pregnant with her son as a teen, which means she has next to no dating experience.
Bennett has been best friends with Wren’s older brother for as long as he can remember and Wren’s been in his life just as long. He’s always been attracted to Wren, but she’s like a sister to him—or is she?
When Bennett’s house is getting renovated, he ends up temporarily moving into Wren’s home with her & her son. And somewhere along the way, Wren ropes Bennett into being her dating coach, with a lot more hands on practice than either of them were expecting…
Feels Like Love by Jenna Hartley is book 1 in the Alondra Valley series. This was such a sweet single mom meets brother’s best friend romance. This is set in such a charming Californian small town with so many adorable small businesses and nosy townspeople. This is low-angst, but Jenna definitely turned up the steam in this one (compared to the other book I read by her), which I loved. I seriously can’t wait to read the rest of the series! 4.5/5 stars.
Ayyyyyyyy esta historia, es la primera vez que leo a la autora y me encantó! Pienso leerme las demás historias de los otros personajes pero Bennett tiene un lugar en mi 🩷
Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Warnings: death by tumor, death of a pet, mention of serial assault.
Firstly, I'd like to say that this novel and I had a few bumps in the road before we ended up on a sucessful and compeleted journey altogether - hence the 2-time read, so to clarify why the dates are so close by.
But despite everything, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It had everything I could want in a light hearted small town romance. The steam, the emotions, the awesome side characters, the kid, and and everything that was Bennet, Wren and Alondra Valley. And yes the map won me over as well, so colorful and perfect for the location setting of Alondra Valley.
Almost made me want to visit the valley, damn.
Anyway, a thoroughly enjoyable novel, keeping me hooked in always, and I hope to read more by the author soon.
i’m leaning more towards a 3.75 on this one. i really enjoyed its light fluffy aspects and it had some really lovable characters, i especially loved bennett and river <3 but i also felt like the story had slight pacing issues. but besides that i loved the mutual pining and bennett was so sweet.
☟spoiler☟ so there was a character death towards the end of the book that really threw me off, she wasn’t someone we really knew or had seen throughout the story but was mentioned a few times and the death was sudden and felt weirdly added. plus a big scene was made at the funeral and it all just made me cringe.

Feels Like Love By Jenna Hartley was the first book that I have read of hers and I was hooked from the first page!!!! If you love small town, brothers best friend romances then grab this book Immediately!!! The tension between Wren and Bennett is off the charts!! I absolutely love this couple and how accepting Bennett is of River and how devoted he is to him. It is a slow burn so strap in for a delicious ride!!!
“I wished I could’ve been your first. Your only. But I can’t. So, I’ll settle for being your last. “
Love me a brother best friend book and Jenna you delivered🙇🏼♀️
Bennett and Wren’s read had all the feels. And don’t get me started on Butter Bean, River you have my heart little man🥰This is Must read series and I’m so glad I started it. Now Liam you will have to wait cuz I’m going to Tristan book now🥺
~REVIEW🖋~ The Quick and Dirty: Small town + angst + 🧁🍰🍪
In a place that feels reminiscent of the Napa Valley region, Jenna Hartley introduces readers to her new small-town series, Alondra Valley (with some Love in LA series character crossovers!). When circumstances cause town veterinarian, Bennett, to vacate his house for a few weeks due to renovations, he finds himself looking for a place to stay. His best friend, Liam, steps in and becomes the catalyst that sets the story spinning. Bennett soon finds himself living with Wren, Liam’s photographer and single-mom little sister, who Bennett’s been secretly pining for but whom he’s stayed away from because… well, best friend’s little sister. Things seem to be going well until Wren asks him to be her dating coach… with some hands on practice. What could possibly go wrong? 🤔😏
I love the new world that Jenna’s built in Alondra Valley! I have a clear mental image of the world and its inhabitants, including all the ancillary characters who we meet (like crossover from the Love in LA series, Harper!). Wren and Bennett, the main characters, have known each other for nearly their entire lives but their journey from platonic relationship to romantic one has a healthy dose of dramatic irony, angst and pastries! **Fans of the #GBBO unite!** The heat level on this book is slightly less than some of Jenna’s other books but no less satisfying. And for those of you who enjoy an ending that is wrapped up and tied in a bow — wish granted! Jenna has written a book that leaves readers feeling warm and fuzzy, and speculating on who is behind that gossip blog, The Vine!

**I was a Beta Reader for this book but provided this review voluntarily and am giving honest feedback. **
Maybe I should break the bro code. It would be easy when your best friend's little sister isn't little and has grown into a beautiful and intelligent woman. Jenna does it again with this friends to lovers romance that has you laughing and feeling all warm and fuzzy.
Wren is a single mom just trying to get by. River, her son, is a joy and loves to just be himself. The relationship between them is something I think every mother strives for. Wren dates but for some reason things don't always go as planned. When a friend of the family, Bennett, her brother's best friend, needs a place to stay while his gets renovated, her brother offers him her spare bedroom. What could possibly go wrong? Well, Wren has had a rush on Bennett for years and has never pursued her feelings. Can she handle having the handsome, built and sweet Bennett under her roof? Can she convince him to give her some pointers when she feels that she is not a good dater? Will her feelings be revealed with him living there? What happens when she decided to use a dating app to get dates?
Bennett has always had feelings for Wren, his best friend's sister but has never acted upon them. She was always the little sister, but that is no longer the case. When he is offered a room at her house, how could he possibly say no. Bennett starts to have second thoughts when she asks for dating help. How will he feel helping her so she can date other men? Will he want to cross the line of friendship? Can he keep it together or will his urges take over?
Jenna always seems to write outstanding stories that grab your attention right from the start. The chemistry and banter between Wren and Bennett was off the charts. I had tears from laughing so hard at times. This small-town romance is the perfect book to curl up with and get lost in the pages. Jenna never disappoints with her storylines. She writes with such detail that you get enthralled with the story but also the characters. I highly recommend adding this to your TRB list.
*received a free arc copy from the author & this is my voluntary review*
Wren & Bennett honestly stole my heart from the very beginning. I LOVED that this was a brothers best friend romance where the guy actually knew/admitted to himself that he had feelings for her - like YAY! I felt like Bennett was always making me swoon, just he really melts your heart.
Wren is a young single mom of River, her son, who loves to express himself. I LOVED that we were shown a different dynamic of a mother/son relationship with this book. Because Wren is so young & River likes things that are considered “feminine”, she is often frowned upon or judged because of her parenting ~ aka allowing her son to embrace who he is. She struggled a lot with her love life & wanting to find someone who wouldn’t judge her son, while loving them unconditionally. What she didn’t expect is for her brothers best friend Bennett to need a place to crash for a few weeks & have her brother offer her home up to him. Bennett is the town vet & of course Liam’s (Wren’s brother) best friend. Wren & Bennett have always had a connection, of course Wren has also always kinda had a crush on him. What she didn’t know was that Bennett was secretly in love with her too… BRING ON THE ANGST.
When Wren decides she needs help in the dating department she looks to Bennett for guidance. What happens when they both discover they’re tired of faking their feelings…? I really enjoyed their story a lot. The push & pull was there, the angst was INSANE & my heart just went out to these two. The steam was great & you really feel the sexual tension/chemistry with these two!
Another sweet and sexy story from the always charming Jenna Hartley. Feels Like Love plays on one of my most favorite tropes- the brother’s best friend/forbidden storyline- with single mom magic as the cherry on top. Our hero Bennett has long been longing for his best friend’s little sister, Wren. The two have always been friendly, especially since single mom Wren has moved back to their small town. Of course, little does he know that Wren also has developed feelings for the kind-hearted and sexy vet. And, faking their feelings become increasingly challenging once Bennett finds himself Wren’s new roommate. Cue all the sexual tension and push-pull dynamics.
Jenna always writes character chemistry that is equal parts sexy and sincere, and Bennett and Wren are pretty adorable together. We have some great banter, delicious steam, and really heartfelt moments. Bennett is just so darn swoony- kind, compassionate, thoughtful, and a tiger in the sack. He’s pretty hard not to fall in love with- and then you see him mooning over Wren and doting on her son River, and you can’t help but fall head over heels. Wren has relationship baggage and a son to consider, so she’s even more cautious than Bennett, who doesn’t want to hurt his friendship with Wren’s overprotective brother. She’s incredibly relatable, a wonderfully thoughtful mother, but is also loads of fun. Both a hero and heroine you can root for- and little River is a charmer.
Great start to a new series- looking forward to more!
4 Star Review Feels Like Love (Alondra Valley #1) by Jenna Hartley
Jenna Hartley is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not come across her books before. I enjoy friends to lovers story and throw in that our heroine is a single mum and that it is set in a small town and for me it is a win/win.
Wren and Bennett are friends as he is Wren’s brother Liam’s best friend. Unknown to either of them they both have feelings for one another but for obvious reasons neither have ever acted on them. However when Bennett’s house floods, Liam suggest he move in with Wren and her son River and keep an eye on them, so things are about to become complicated.
Deciding it is time to put herself out there and begin dating again, Wren asks Bennett to be her dating coach with some interesting results. I really liked both Wren and Bennett, they were so cute together and I was cheering for them to get the happily ever after that they both deserved.River is a fabulous secondary character who was amusing and stole the book on occasion.
The chemistry between them is intense and it was entertaining to watch their relationship progress. I loved the relationship that Bennett has with River, it was heart warming to watch it develop. This was a feel good book that left me with a smile on my face.
What an amazing start to this brand new series by Jenna Hartley. I loved every single page of this story. The characters were amazing and the plot so unique I couldn't help but read this book in one sitting.
Bennet has been in love with his best friend's younger sister Wren. Wren has always been attracted to his brother's best friend Bennet. BUT none of them acted in their feelings EVER...
Wren is a single mother with the most adorable son ever River. But her life is not complete, she wants more, she wants a relationship so she starts trying to date but her inexperience and her brother's overprotectiveness makes this journey pretty hard.
Bennet and Wren find each other living under the same roof and things get pretty in interesting, like very steamy interesting. (yes you need to read this)
What starts as a single dating coaching becomes so much more and each day becomes harder for Wren and Bennet to hide their feeling.
But the secret that they are hiding can also be their doom.
So if you like a book that will make you swoon and give you all the feels them this book is for you.
I absolutely adored the story. The small town, the characters, the mixture of sweet and steam is all perfect.
Wren is a single mom to her amazing child, River. She hasn’t had the best of luck when it comes to relationships and since being a single mom she doesn’t really have time to date. Bennett has known Wren since they were children. He is best friends with her older brother. Bennett has also had a crush on Wren since they were kids.
I love Wren. She is hardworking and strong. She loves River more than anything and it shows throughout the story. He is her world and she would do anything to make sure her son his happy. I also really loved Bennett. He’s only ever had eyes for Wren, but it can never be anything more. He is protective and caring and seriously swoony. I loved how Bennett is with River and the bond that the two of them formed throughout the course of the story.
The chemistry between Wren and Bennett is fantastic. There is so much tension between the two of them and I loved all the buildup. Seeing their relationship progress from friends to Bennett coaching Wren when it comes to dating to something more was so much fun to read.
If you’re looking for a single parent, small town, brother’s best friend romance this is one to read!
Wren is in love with her big brothers best friend Bennett and low and behold he's in love with her too but no one is gonna admit feelings. Wren is a single mom and Bennett is the hot vet in town. The small town of Alondra Valley they have a gossip column that you cant get away with anything with out people in the town finding out. Liam, Wren's big brother is an overprotective person and when he has to go out of town and Bennetts house floods and needs somewhere to stay Liam says to stay at Wren's house and keep an eye out on her. When Wren wants to start to date she gets on the AV Lovebirds dating website and meets a few guys, but she feels odd and not sure of herself that's when she asks Bennett to be her "dating coach". What happens when the pretending pushes the boundaries? What happens when playing house together turns in the the real feelings?
This story was a cute hallmarky feeling book. I loved Bennett and Wren and they are so sweet and you cant help but to cheer for them!! You just want to push them together and say go for it! This is such a great feel good love story!
There's so much that I loved about this book: o Bennett's relationship with Wren’s son, River, is so touching. Bennett is a natural as a father figure, and River just wants a dad. o I enjoyed the slow build-up and hot anticipation of Wren and Bennett's relationship. Even though they both had secret crushes, we get to see their relationship develop and grow as Bennett acts as Wren’s dating coach. o The secondary characters are great. I liked the long-time friend group of Bennett, Liam, Tristan, and Asher. I'm looking forward to learning more about the other three throughout this series. Fans of Jenna Hartley will appreciate characters from others books that are appear in this one too. o There’s a strong small town vibe with local gossip being shared by a mysterious blogger.
Feels Like Love has just the right mix of emotion, steam, and a little bit of angst to make a heartwarming story that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
I received an early copy of this small town romance.
This book is sooooooo swoon-worthy! It is a sweet and sexy brother's best friend romance and the best way to start a new series. Wren and Bennett have been in love with each other for a while but they keep it secret because Bennett is a best friend of Wren's brother and Wren doesn't think he would be interesting in her because she has a baggage. The circumstance changes when Bennett has to move in with Wren and her boy temporarily and Wren askes him to be her dating coach. And when they let their true feeling mingle with their practice, their chemistry is so hot. I don't even know why Wren's brother doesn't catch on! I also like that Jenna involves her old characters in the book. It is so good to have a glimpse of their life after their happy ending. If you are a fan of brother's best friend, this book is a typical one but it also combines with secret love, forbidden feeling, single parent, stolen sexy times, friends and family's support and overly protective brother (seriously I want to smack his head a few times.) They make me feel heartwarming while I am reading it.
The mark of a truly great romance read is when it reels you in from the first page and keeps you glued to your kindle. Feels Like Love is exactly that - an incredibly beautiful story about friendship, family and love.
Bennett and Wren are amazing.
My heart went out to Wren - I wanted to reach into my kindle and hug her hard. She is an unbelievably strong young woman who deserves everything. I was in awe of her and the incredible mother she was to River. She truly deserves the love of a good man.
Bennett owned my book loving heart from the very beginning and I just knew he was going to ruin me for all other book boyfriends. He is all.the.good.things you could ever want - loving, caring, accepting and loyal. The way he loved on Wren and River was amazing and I couldn’t get enough of the three of them together.
Feels Like Love is a sweet and sexy, read in one sitting, swoon inducing romance. I’m giving it the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy.
Well I had a ton of emotions while reading this book. Let’s just say I love the authors small town romance. And best friends sister is one of my fave tropes!
Bennett and Wren get thrown into a situation trying to keep their feeling for each other under lock and key and well that doesn’t work very well. I love a book that has a kick butt kid in it and River is that kid in this book! He is definitely one of the best parts of this book! Dating apps stink and I love that Wren has to go through the things she does through in order to find her happy ever after.
I smell an awesome series with the 4 guy friends from this first book! Looking forward to all the trials that they have to go through. There were definitely some parts of this book that had me tearing up and once you read it up will see why!
Jenna Hartley has done it again, I will forever be a fan of her books! Cheers! And I cannot wait for more!
One of my favorite tropes is older brother's best friend so I was VERY excited to read this book. I adored both Bennett and Wren. They were just so sweet and kind, not only to each other but also to everyone else around them. I was just frustrated with them as well. I know this is a story and it needs its climax but so much time could have been saved if they had just told each other how they felt. I just wanted them to be together. But this was still a great book with fun loving characters. Including a sweet little boy full of energy... whoa he tired me out.. lol. I'm happy these two (three) got their HEA but I am curious as to if there will be more stories to come. The Vine blog sure knows how to keep us guessing.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
This was another 5 star read from @authorjennahartley
I seriously love her writing style.
I couldn’t put this one down. The chemistry between these two was intense. I was counting down the pages until they gave into their feelings.
When Bennett agrees to be Wren’s “dating coach” I knew it was about to get HOT, and whew did it.
I loved the story. The side characters that hopefully we will get to meet. Seriously I absolutely adored this one.
Some of the previous characters were mentioned in this book. If you planned on reading those you may want to do that before hand, this book could spoil somethings for you. But you don’t have to read them to understand this book.
Ahhh Jenna does it again, bringing us another 5 star, swoonworthy, romance with amazing characters. Bennett is a sexy veterinarian who just so happens to be in love with his best friends sister secretly, his entire life. Wren is a single mom, to the amazing River, and has a rough go at love. River is a gem and so hilarious. The chemistry and banter between these two are amazing. Bennett’s friends are a hoot and there are loads of baked goods involved, some steamy swoonworthy scenes, a sexy Australian Arlo, and alpacas! She also brings the tears, but puts your heart back together again. I’m hoping this cast gets a few more books on the other bachelors in this friend group! Thank you @authorjennahartley for an ARC for my honest review! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this book. The tension between Bennett and Wren was perfection. I loved forbidden aspect of the brother's best friend combined with the "coaching" aspect. I couldn't get enough of them. And holy heck was this a steamy read. I was not expecting the level of steam that we get with Bennet and Wren. Smoke show for sure. And the way Bennett was with River - ovary explosion. He was so caring, loving and accepting of all things River. Absolutely swoon worthy. I loved watching Bennett and Wren's relationship grow and develop. It was so natural, fun and light on the angst. It also laid a good foundation for what we have in store for us in this series. Loved this book and highly recommend it.
