Catching Ember has EVERYTHING I love about cowboy books!! The woman from out of town with the perfect amount of sass and sexiness combined, the man that's grown up in town but still somehow doesn't quite fit, and a whole bunch of side characters who may or may not want either of them to succeed leaving the ending perfect for this book.... but open enough for a whole series? YES!!

Ember has just recently found out that the father she never knew left her one of the largest ranches in the Ft. Worth area, and asked her to stay a while before she decided to keep or sell it. Y'all, Ember is PERFECTION!! All sass, sexy on top of it, everything I like to read in a heroine. When she's backed into a corner the last thing she does is give in, and the first thing she does is bite back a little.

There's a boardroom scene where she's asked everyone who is interested in buying the ranch to come down, and she asks for the time to make her decision, but coming into the boardroom she finds out that Nash is one of the interested parties! In her anger she bit back hard, and not only is it funny, but it gave me a real idea of who she is as a person, and how Beverly Preston intends for things to go down between Ember and Nash.

Nash is so HOT!! The meet cute between him and Ember at the beginning, he gets off to a rocking start by saving her life, but then almost instantly screws it up when he let's her know he's interested in the ranch. She believes instantly that he was only flirting with her because of the ranch, and it takes Nash a good while to overcome his own failures.

The side characters are so fascinating! I thought Mr. Montgomery was going to stay locked up tight, but as the book progresses he becomes more and more of the father figure she needs. And Travis... is he the villain or another of Embers protectors?

There is so much happening by the end if you're not paying attention it's easy to get lost, but this is definitely a five star enemies to lovers ride, and I can't WAIT for the next in the series!!

Author Beverly Preston is winning hearts left and right with CATCHING EMBER, the first book in her Buckle Up series. CATCHING EMBER, a story of discovering one's true self and coming out the stronger for it, this book had me from the very first page.

The first time that Ember Thompson and Nash Harris meet is nothing short of breathtaking, a close call that neither of them will forget. And neither will they forget the spark that ignites that day, and burns higher and brighter each time they meet. But the two couldn't be more different. She's a free spirit looking for her roots, and he's all business, determined to do what he needs to get what he wants. As time goes on, though, hidden strengths and vulnerabilities come together to help both Ember and Nash grow in ways that neither anticipated, and to move into the lives that they were born to live.

There is so much in this story, so much passion, growth, and fulfillment. If Ember shows Nash and the rest of the good old Texas boys one thing, it is not to underestimate her. Grounded yet fiery, unschooled yet canny, and determined to prove herself, Ember demonstrates to Nash, herself, and everyone else that she is more than capable of just about anything that her new life would bring her way. And Nash, well, there are many layers that do not fully come out until Ember helps him to see that she wants him just as he is, and he allows himself to be the person that he wants to be, and not who he has been.

There are plenty of poignant moments to CATCHING EMBER, but it is, at the end, very much a feel-good read, and one that I enjoyed very much. Beverly, welcome back, and thank you. ❤️

Cowboy love

I’ve read the series prior to this book, and I knew that I was going to love the new characters. Beverly Preston has a way of getting the reader’s attention, and holding it throughout the entire book. Her characters are always strong, capable, romantic, and loving. Included in the romance of the couple, some mystery is also
there. All of this combined flows through, to become a heartfelt story.
Nash is a wealthy oil magnate, and is one of many ranchers trying to buy Walker ranch. The previous owner of Walker ranch has passed on, and has left the ranch to his daughter. An illegitimate daughter that he only met once. She has to live there for several months, and then decide, if she wants to sell, or keep the ranch. She begins to develop a love for the ranch, and the workers, and is open to learn all she can, about how the ranch works. In between times, she begins to develop feelings for Nash.
Nash and Ember begin a hidden relationship, and this leads to love. Information is brought to her attention, someone has a complete file on her life, including pictures. She believes that it’s been done by Nash, and this knowledge Leads to a big fight, and their splitting up.
Several days of storms causes the ranch hands and Ember to gather all the cattle, but an incident causes lives to be in danger, with the result of misunderstandings finally being resolved. The book ends in a beautiful HEA for the couple.
I always recommend any book written by Beverly Preston.

I Got This

They say you never know how much you miss something until you have it again. This holds so true for me when it come to Beverly Preston writing. Her style and words were truly missed in my life.

Nash and Ember story was one of pure beauty and understanding. A coming together of two souls that was years in the making. Read the story to know why I said that.

Ember was thrust into an unknown life because of a promise but she thrived and met every obstacle head on because of pure determination and grit. There is getting your hands dirty then there is getting your hands, arm, knees, and unmentionables dirty and she proved she was not above any. Her presences and heart showed Nash he was screwed from hello.

Buckle up for a steamy ride 🐎🔥💏

This is my first Beverly Preston book and I am wondering why it has taken me so long to read her books! I loved the explosive chemistry between Nash and Ember! It made for some extremely hot scenes. 💥🌋 I totally dug Ember's calming presence. It can be felt even from the pages. I was afraid for a hot minute that Nash was going to give me a reason not to like him but he total redeemed himself. I can't wait for more from this series!

“It’s great to be loved, but it’s profound to be understood, accepted for exactly who you are inside.”

I absolutely loved this book and didn’t want it to end. The story was full fire, romance and so many heartwarming moments. My emotions were all over the place, but it’s a ride I would take over and over again. The author created extremely beautiful and lovable characters; and their chemistry was off the charts right from the beginning. Watching Ember find her strength and learn to trust herself, and seeing Nash being knocked on his tush by Ember gave me the warm fuzzies!!!

You cannot go wrong with anything this author writes, this book is another great example of her talent.

This is my first book by this author BUT I’m hooked !!!! I loved the dynamic between Nash and Ember… I love how she embraces all that is literally dropped into her lap and she handles it like a boss even while suffering an incredible loss. Nash thought he wanted one thing but got the total opposite and it changed his whole world

Nash is getting his morning coffee when Randy, his PI, calls him asking why Nash had hired him if he was going to follow Ben Walker's daughter himself. Sitting at a cafe table outside the cafe, he sees the woman who stands between him and millions of barrels of crude oil. A shockingly beautiful woman with a full sleeve of tattoos down her arm.

Two weeks ago Ember learned that her mother had lied. She knew that she was the product of a one-night stand, but she wasn't expecting to find out her mother had kept his identity a secret from both her and her father. And now it was too late. Her father was dead and she had promised to spend four months on his massive cattle ranch before making a decision on whether to stay or sell.

She is sitting outside the cafe with earbuds in her ears when she is tackled to the ground. In shock and struggling to get away from the gorgeous man, she realizes that he has just saved her life as she looks over his shoulder in horror as a huge Longhorn is destroying the table where she had been sitting. He had just saved her from the stampeding cattle destroying everything in their path.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are amazing. Ember has lived her whole life with her carefree mother never knowing that her mother had kept her father's identity a secret. The last thing she expected was to inherit a ranch of over 100,000 acres and over 10,000 head of cattle. She had promised to spend four months before deciding what to do with the ranch, but the vultures were already circling.

This book is action-packed from page one. The chemistry between Ember and Nash is off the charts smoking hot. I love the storyline and the relationships throughout the story. Highly recommend!!!

Editing issues

I stopped at chapter 6. Incorrect grammar and words are a huge pet peeve for me. I feel disrespected as a reader when I see so many errors. The story might have held my interest if I hadn't wanted to take a red pen to the errors.
