Five years ago she ran to save her life. Will falling in love a second time help her to find a new one?
Rosalinda Ingalls has spent the last few years building a flower business from the ground up and raising her special needs daughter in the small town of Seaside Bay, Oregon. Along the way she has become part of a family of friends who would do anything for each other. Except, Rose has a part of her past that she refuses to share, determined to protect those she loves, including the town's police chief. Her feelings for him are stronger than she's ever experienced before, but to let him in means to risk his life and Rose won't let herself even entertain the thought. She has enough regrets in her past and she won't add Ken Wamsley to the list.
Captain Ken has kept his distance from the beautiful Rose, acting as her friend for years, though he's always longed for more. When a threatening text starts of a chain of events that causes her past and present to clash, Ken knows he can no longer stand on the sidelines and watch. Seizing the opportunity, he grows even closer to Rose and her daughter Lily, hoping that when the danger is over, their relationship will become much more permanent.
Can Rose open up enough to let Ken protect her and her daughter? Or will the impending threat cause Rose to grab Lily and run, leaving a trail of broken hearts in her tracks?

I have been waiting for Rose & Ken’s story since the first book. I am so happy to have finally read it.
I knew Rose was hiding a crazy backstory since she didn’t tell any of her friends, but ooh wee was i entranced by the reality.
Ken has been patiently waiting in the wing for Rose to finally give him the green light to go forward for year. He is done waiting, now it’s time for some action.
Rose has fallen in love with Ken but is afraid that her feelings will endanger the ones closest to her so she tries to keep everyone at an arms length.
I am so pleased with the way this story played out and have finally received the HEA I’ve been longing for.
An engaging book about living and surviving through hard choices to protect loved ones. She has secrets and a child to protect. He only wants to help. Rose arrived in town almost five years ago with a newborn child, Lily, and money to start a business. She refused to speak of her past at any time but was always open to help others in the community. Now suddenly she is obviously ready to run again and her friends are worried. They want to help but have no idea what the problems are that Rose is facing, only that she is terrified. Even Ken the sheriff cannot get Rose to explain. But how can Rose explain the mistakes she has made and horrible things she has experienced in the past especially when doing so puts them in danger. But this small town, that now feels like the family she never had, may be the safest place if everyone can get through this alive. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
Rose comes to town with an infant daughter and opens a floral shop. She makes friends but never shares anything about her past. She also keeps the Chief of Police who loves her daughter like his own firmly in the friend zone. When something she has been keeping a secret about her past threatens to destroy everything she has built her friends rally in support. She is finally able to find the future she and Lily deserve. Characters were well written and storyline was smooth. There were lots of friends there was some suspense regarding her past. The ending was tied neatly. but I had no problem keeping track of them and they were very entertaining.
I think i especially enjoyed this book because I read it in Seaside, in a penthouse over looking the Pacific.
There was a bit of suspense with Rose hiding from her ex husband. She’s raising her special needs daughter, Lily in the idyllic town of Seaside Bay and is keeping Ken (the top cop) at arms length (literally).
I liked that Rose has been married before and was independent as a single mother supporting her daughter even while in hiding from her ex.
Secrets have a way of coming out at the most inconvenient times. Everyone knew Rose was hiding something but they loved her enough to not push. Rose had to learn to trust her friends, especially police captain, Ken. The true meaning of friends and even the importance of a tradition as basic as a bonfire with friends. I really hated to see this series end as these characters had become friends.
I am so glad Ken and Rose are finally getting their story. Rose left behind a troubling past with an abusive ex husband to find a new life. She found family and friends and has a wonderful daughter. Ken has known Rose since she first showed up in town. He has quietly sat back and waited for her. Now she is in danger but he has no idea why. What happens when her ex husband is released from prison and comes for her? Does she run or stay and fight back?
I loved this story because there is just the right amount of mystery along with Rose & Ken's developing romance. It's obvious from the beginning that Rose is hiding a big secret & I thought of one thing that was holding her back. I was right which doesn't happen often. This series keeps getting better with each book. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary review.
Finally, Rosa and Ken's story. The mystery behind Rose's entrance to town and why she doesn't want to get close to Ken comes out. And, of course, Ken is there to help her whether she wants him to or not. Love, love, love this series. Great stories!
Her Unexpected Protector by Laura Ann - Book 8 in the series.
This one is my favorite so, I have loved each and everyone of the books so far but this one was my favorite. I am excited for Book 9 coming out on November 19, 2021. Great series, I love the author, the characters and the story line.
I loved this book and the characters. Even though I was given a copy of this book by the author, it in no way influenced my opinion and this is my honest review.
In this book Grayson's brother is named Carson but when we first meet him in Her Unexpected Star, his name is Carter. Other than that inconsistent feature, this is a really good book.
Yeah! Rose and Ken finally get their story! I love all the characters of Seaside Bay but Ken and Rose have been some of my favorites. I love the romance and suspense and all the meaningful flowers!
Rose and Ken have been in love for years but she kept him at a distance. This one has romance as well as intrigue and some mystery. I love these two and have been anxiously awaiting their story since book 1. Rose's daughter Lily is adorable and boy does she play matchmaker. Their friends rally around them. Loved it.
