Her Unexpected Partner

Rate this book
She swore she'd never take on a partner...
now her dreams might depend on it.

Charlize (Charli) Mendez has made a name for herself as Seaside Bay's handywoman. There's nothing she can't repair or restore if given the chance. The only caveat is that she always works alone... even when a lucrative offer from a handsome stranger falls right into her lap.

Bronson Ramsay is growing desperate. At his father's passing, he learned that in order to access his inheritance and save the charity he volunteers with, Bronson will have to get 'a real job' and prove his worth before the money is handed over. Bronson decides to restore and flip an old home in Seaside Bay, but he can't do it alone and the only person who can help him is a spunky, beauty who doesn't play nice with others.

When a chance at her dream comes earlier than Charli planned, she has to reconsider the opportunity in front of her. Can she set aside her bias if it means getting everything she wants? More importantly...can she do it without losing her heart?

I loved this story! Charli and her sass was very entertaining. She was so determined to not have any help reaching her life goals that she even kept her true heart’s desires locked up inside. Her dreams being too precious to share. I loved the series of events that lead Charli and Bronson to join forces as partners. Bronson was such a nice guy and a hard worker, I felt sorry for his messed up childhood. Construction is hard to do but he kept an overall positive attitude while bringing a lightness and fun to the grunt work. No whiny characters in the story. Just good friends, hard workers, and determination. There were surprises and twists along the way that made the book a page turner. A real ‘can’t go to sleep until I’ve finished the book’ kind of story.

Having spent my first couple years of marriage learning construction and working with my husband to renovate houses together in a historic neighborhood, this story brought back lots of good memories of the ups and downs involved. All in all the book had me smiling, laughing out loud, and staying up late to finish it. Being a California girl myself I loved the asides about California vs Oregon! Favorite line: “We’re not in California anymore, Mr. Ramsay.”

I’m definitely going to be reading the next in the series.

An independent woman, a man needing to be her partner, can they make it work?
Charli is proud that she’s independent. She’s the town’s handywoman taking care of any emergency or remodeling, she competes in ironman competitions, and can hold her own in problems. Bronson is struggling to find funding for a charity he helps when he is blindsided by a change in his father’s will. Instead of getting his share out right, he must first prove himself by working for eight weeks and having something of value to show the court. When he finds a rundown house in Seaside Bay it seems to be the perfect solution. Fix it up and flip it but to due that he needs someone who has the skills to do it, that would be Charli. But he needs to be deeply involved in the work and Charli doesn’t do partners. Can they make it work and meet the deadline especially when someone is sabotaging their work? A fun story of learning to work together for everyone’s good, jealousy, greed, and romance. I received an early copy and this is my honest review. This is part of a series but can easily be read as a standalone. I would recommend all of the books in this series.

Charli is a spunky woman who prefers to work by herself doing home repairs/renovations. When Bronson comes along needing her repo skills she refuses until she needs the money to buy a building so she can start her business refurbishing furniture. But Bronson knows nothing about the work needed to do to fix up an old house in a short time. Thus working together is not an easy matter. There is a raccoon that also causes problems. There is a mystery inside it. I really loved this story. Very well written. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.

Charli has her life figured out just the way she likes it. She has her brother, her friends, her job, and a dream for something bigger. That is until Bronson steps into her life. He’s been sideswiped by the terms of his father’s will, but he’s determined to do what he has to do, others are depending on him.
When they join together on a project, neither is ready to give in to their attraction, there’s too much on the line. Add in an angry raccoon and a little mystery and you have a satisfying easy weekend read. Great book.

Charli is on independent sassy woman. Loved her. Bronson wants to help others but his hands are tied by his father's will. Sparks fly when these two meet good ones and well not so good ones. Their second meeting comes as a shock to them both and let's just say it doesn't go so well. I really liked how Bronson changed his tune and asked for Charli's help. Getting to know these two was fun and sometimes even funny. There is a bit of a mystery - great job keeping me guessing. Really sweet ending.

I loved Charli and Bronson whose attraction to each other complemented their goals in life. Charli helped Bronson solved the mystery of his inheritance and being a known handyman was able to finish the project in due time, and at the same time finding out the people sabotaging their project. Finally Bronson was able to proved his worth to himself and his brother. The case was solved, the mystery of original will came to surface and people who produced a fake were brought to trial. Charli and Bronson achieved their dreams and finally got married.

Back to Seaside Bay.

We’re back in the charming coastal town of Seaside Bay. Charli is used to working alone. I liked that she was the handy person. 👍🏻

Bronson needs to prove he’s a grown up who can handle money management with a proper job. He so does need to learn real responsibility. He does have good intentions but needs help. Charli’s help.

Recommend.

Boss Bae meets Sweetest philanthropist

Bronson is seriously the sweetest ever, which is a miracle considering his family.

Charli is a total boss bae who knows her own mind and does what needs to be done to achieve her dreams.

Their story is a fun one and include a bit of mystery which is a nice twist. I’d definitely recommend. All Laura Ann books are on my must read list.

HEA and a mystery

I enjoyed this story by a new to me author of Bronson and Chari as they work together to complete a reno project and build a relationship at the same time. Bronson is new in town and as they work on this he finds problems as somethings interfere with the project.

This book is a sweet, small town romance with a thread of a mystery running through it. It is well written and revisits couples and people throughout the series. I enjoyed the humor and the who done it at the end of the book came as a big surprise. Well done, Laura Ann!

As a former business owner in a primarily male field I can appreciate Charli’s struggle to create her own place. Bronson has received a shock when told of his father’s will, he will do whatever necessary to get the money for his charity but he’s not really expected Charli. I enjoyed this story and it was definitely a good part of my binge reading of this series.

This one has some interesting twists and turns

It’s always interesting to read a story that has some interesting twists to it. This series is nice, easy reading that keeps you interested. It’s a good break from historical fiction and legal thrillers. The author is able to develop characters that make you want to read the next one.

Bronson's father died, leaving a terrible stipulation in his will. Bronson Ramsey comes to Seaside Bay to flip a house in 8 short weeks to prove he can work hard and accomplish something. Charli Mendez is a skilled home repair person but always works alone. Their story is filled with humor, suspense, and a wonderful community of friends!

Another great story. I loved Charli and Bronson's story. She is so independent and doesn't want to depend on anyone until Bronson. Their story is so touching. I can't wait until the next in the series.

Clean

The twist at the end sent me reeling. The characters are complex and thoughtful. There was a spot where the author referred to Charli as he. Mostly the grammar was good.
