About the author

María José Ferrada is the author of Mexique: A Refugee Story from the Spanish Civil War. She is a recipient of the Municipal Prize of Literature of Santiago, as well as the Academy Award from the Chilean Academy of Language. María currently works as the children's editor of Chilean Memory, a digital resource center of the National Library of Chile.

We are exposed to so much information on a daily basis that we might become immune to what the facts and numbers really stand for. We consume news, sometimes without giving a second thought to what we have just read, glanced over, and proceeded to the next page or scrolled down to the next item. I loved what María José Ferrada did in her book. There are thirty snippets taken from different sources: reports, newspapers, magazines. And every single one of these is accompanied by the author’s reflection/impression on the news: slowing down, focusing on the detail, a sound, a color, a sensation, a movement that seems negligible and might be ignored but, in the eyes of the author, takes on a new life and gathers importance. It might be a line, a haiku, a paragraph. And to complete it all, every page contains a meaningful illustration that goes with the content. This book is an invitation to stop. To imagine. To empathize. And, as hackneyed as it might sound, it’s a reminder that behind the numbers and letters in the newspapers, there are real people with their dreams, ambitions, aspirations, sorrows, tragedies, and hopes.

Que lindo el libro, hermosos los cuentos y las historias que retrata. Hoy estuve ordenando mi biblioteca y me apareció este pequeño libro sellado. No me tomó más de 15 minutos leerlo.

¿de qué se trata? son cuentos inventados a partir de historias reales
¿por qué lo compré? si no me equivoco, me lo regalaron en la Feria de Autores en el Gam.
Parte favorita: Amé la liberación de los Enanos.
¿le puede gustar a? personas que le gustan los cuentos, que les gusta la lectura rápida y libros cortos, que le gustan esas historias entretenidas que pasan en el mundo.
¿le puede disgustar a? a nadie, de verdad es muy lindo.

Un libro que juega con la realidad y la ficción. Un popurrí de noticias, bellamente ilustradas, convertidas en poemas. Si bien, es de la colección de Santillana Juvenil, lo recomiendo a todas las edades.

Es muy interesante el libro desde el punto de vista del trabajo lírico, y cómo la autora transforma lo expositivo en poética. Percibo ciertos rasgos del haiku además, no solo por lo breve, sino también por cómo son obras despertadas a partir de noticias.

Confieso que me cuesta enganchar con libros que no tengan formato de novela o cuento . Me gustó el primer texto y el del gato .

En mi primer intento por leerlo, se me hizo pretencioso, pero al segundo intento pude ver sus virtudes, muchos poemas son muy bonitos y de verdad hacen una buena abstracción de la noticia que representan, creo que si logran su función, el de dar foco a cosas que son de conocimiento general, pero no causan tanto impacto, pero con la ayuda de los elementos gráficos y los poemas les da ese impulso que necesitan para llegar a más personas. Eso si, quiero quejarme de que muchas noticias si son cosas super conocidas, pero las que no, me sorprendieron mucho,tanto, que las voy a investigar después. Lindo libro gracias profa anett por prestarmelo.
