Wow! This book…my, oh my! (fanning myself here!) Okay, so where to begin. In case you don’t read longer reviews and the five stars don’t give it away, I f*@%ing LOVED this book! Serena Akeroyd is masterful! She is so talented in how she conceives of her stories and then is such an incredibly talented storyteller. Her readers are always guaranteed that she will do a story justice and pour her heart and soul into it.

So, the story itself. Do you believe in fate? In destiny? To me they are two sides of the same coin. Whether you call it fate or destiny or the hand of God, you see the threads woven throughout the story bringing Andrea and Savio together even though they start out at completely different ends of the spectrum. Let’s take Andrea. Can you imagine what it’s like to fall in love from afar? To know with certainty that a man who you only know as a face on the screen and name uttered on the news, someone you’ve never spoken to or crossed paths with, that this is your soulmate? And then to go throughout your life helping others because you believe it is God’s calling for you? All while waiting for the specific moment in time when you’ll get to meet this man? Quirky, observant, determined Andrea will charm you with her innocence and the certainty of her convictions.

Then we have Savio. Tragedy framed his life from an early age, led him to a life devoted to God and his flock. But tragedy strikes again and in a way that alters his life again, making Savio question everything he is, everything he believes in. Have you ever felt lost? As if you’ve been detached, untethered, and are now floating without aim, without purpose? Savio’s kind nature toward those who are seemingly unachored (like him), his own guilt and need to atone, and his desire for justice against those who always seem to escape judgment will endear him to you.

When these two finally meet, the intensity of their connection is undeniable. The way they fit together, completing parts of one another, and falling in love in a way that both happens instantaneously and as if it had been happening since the beginning of time. I love that we meet these characters at certain points in their lives and we get to know them and see how the events in their lives influence them, change them. And how, after they meet, they evolve together into an incredibly sexy, passionate, and intense love affair.

The story of Andrea and Savio is epic and it was destined to be told by Serena Akeroyd. If you’ve read the trigger warning and can handle a story that’s a little bit taboo, do not miss this one! Follow your path…read this book!

I really loved this book. It was so unique, somewhat taboo, moments of dark and twisty but also just a damn good read. I liked the alternating POV's between Savio and Andrea. I like how both to the characters themselves and just in the writing, Andrea was the ying to Savio's yang. She was the light to his dark. But at the same time, she had dark in her and he had light in him. This book was just really really well written and I loved everything about it!

This story! Wow... I love a good taboo romance, especially where priests are concerned and this one... Well it was so much more than I expected! Andrea the angel. She looked over those she cared for. In a way seldom people took the time to. And Savio... he was an angel too... But they didn't regard their calling the same way.

This story of two soul mates, on a course to collide helped by fate... Fate that took faith to another level. Fate that took two imperfect beings, and allowed them to be perfect for one another. But not perfect in a looking at life through rose coloured glasses kind of way, but perfect in a your mess and my mess, make it so our life paths are easier to navigate kind of way.

Embark on this journey with Savio and Andrea, all the way to the very end... it will make you want to find your kind of crazy to get through this world!

I went into reading The Vows We Break thinking I knew what was going to happen, only to have my mind blown by the unexpected plot turns! Savio is like a dark avenging angel. Andrea is the angel Savio needs. They are two destined souls that are drawn together. Both are a bit broken and twisted. Both seek redemption and justice in different ways. This is a deliciously dark, divine binge read that will leave you speechless!

So I started this book thinking... how can a book with a priest be good! Serena has brought this story to life in ways I never expected. Andrea is just full if crazy! I recommend this book to everyone. It has a warning on it but I’m not sure it really needs one. I did love it and hope there will be more with these characters to come. It is a stand alone but if you read it you will know what I’m talking about.

Ever read a book that just isn't like any other you've read? That just shocks you and leaves your speechless? Keeps you up at night and completely throws off your daily adulting because you just can't put it down? This. Is. It..... But be warned. This book may not be for everyone. If you have triggers of sexual abuse, I would read with caution. If you are a devoted Catholic, this may be hard to read as well. Holy corn on the cob. Andrea definitely is like no other FMC. Her intense, crazy devotional need to help those she feels compelled to help puts her on a journey of finding her purpose. Then there is Father Savio. Who goes through things no person should ever experience, especially when it questions and alters your faith in God. When Andrea finally finds Father Savio, her honest truths and beliefs tear down the walls that Father Savio has built and she sees the pain he inflicts on himself. They are both saviors to each other. Super intense read to the very end!!! 100% recommend!

I wasnt sure going into this book how I felt about reading it, priests who break their vows just dont sit right with me. I had tried to read another book by a different author before with a similar storyline and had to put it down after a few chapters, I just couldn't read it. I love anything Serena Akeroyd writes so thought I'd give this one a go and I'm glad I did. It doesn't have the feel of a typical priest being devout and tempted away from his vocation. Savio definitely isn't a normal priest and I never felt he was devout from the start of the book. Andrea is a well written character and, although apparently delusional, I found it easier to read the book because of this as it gave the book a little glimmer of a paranormal feel. All in all, I actually really enjoyed this book and would happily give it 5 stars and read it again.

Ok so contrary to popular belief, I could not figure out what this book was about based on the cover. So I was pleasantly surprised by the taboo nature of Andrea and Savio’s relationship. I mean, who doesn’t love the forbidden, right? There’s a trigger warning at the beginning of the book, and I definitely think it’s warranted. Although I would have liked to have known what it was about? There’s self-harm in here, and mention/description of a rape. So if either of these are upsetting, I’d avoid the book.

However, Andrea and Savio are literally made for each other. The idea of Savio suffering as a POW is what gets Andrea through some rough times, and she makes it her mission to save him. How romantic is that?!

Oh my goodness this book! I admit, I wasn’t sure about it at first. But then I started reading it and couldn’t put it down. I finished it in a few short hours and was rather surprised by how much I liked it. It is dark, twisty, and addictive. It does have a few things that could trigger people, so make sure you read the warning that comes with it, but overall all,I rather enjoyed it.

I was really curious with this story after reading the blurb and after how much I enjoyed the other book I've read from this author. But unfortunately, this time around I had a few problems with this book.

The story and the characters were a lot more darker than I was expecting but that's something that doesn't bother me. The thing I felt it was missing was more of the characters and relationship development.

This had everything to be outstanding since the author picks some strong themes that aren't really anything new but adds some twists but for me it ended up just being an okay read.

Two people damaged in different ways but drawn together. One seeking redemption and the other seeking to give it. Over the years Andrea (FMC) & Savio have had a pull to each other but they havent given into it. When Priest Savio is held captive for 2 years by the Algerian Christian Revolutionaires he emerges a darker changed man. Within a few years of that Andrea goes through life changing events that put her on a mission to finally meet Savio. I liked the spin on who is light and dark in this book which isnt necessarily the people you'd expected to be. Classed as delusional because of her beliefs as well as other things Andrea is the lightness to Savio's dark and his darkness is particularly dark. This is by no means a typical love story thats for sure but in a crazy way you cant help but route for them to get together. I really liked this book. Its a bloody (quite literally) good read

Forgive me father, for I have sinned, I have a crush on a fictional priest.

Damn, does this book take you to church. Truth be told, I was not looking forward to reading this book. Usually, anything to do with the Catholic Church, romance or not, I do a 180 and find some kind of reverse harem and maybe the girl gets tied to a cross. lol. I was wrong. Father Savio did me in. If he was my priest, I may have actually gotten myself up Sunday morning to thank the Lord for Father’s heart and ass, I mean soul. It didn’t hurt that Father had a crisis of conscience when he finally admitted to finding his heart. I fell quickly for this one and trust me, that’s saying something.

This is a dark twisted page turner, these two are so damaged from life that they may be the only ones who can save each other. Fated mates? Andrea thinks so, and after you read this you will too. One of Serena's most darkest reads to date, this book will stick you in, clench your heart all while you fall in love with these broken damaged souls. This is a 5 star book, if it were possible I'd give it 10! You will never look at faith, religion, love or fated mates the same again.

Wow, what a twisted tale of two souls full of both dark and light. This book has tons of triggers, so be warned. But this is such a unique story with a taboo storyline. Serena masterfully wraps two souls together whom you would never expect to be together. Life has a funny way of making us do things, and this story truly shows that. While this book has a huge religious undertone, it isn't a religious book exactly either, just showing how you can have religion but not push it onto others. Truly Serena has done it again with this book, unique, sexy, and full of the weird.

First and foremost, I have to say that at the beginning of the book, there are trigger and taboo warnings. It's about a priest who breaks his vows. If this offends you, then don't read this wonderful book. If it doesn't, then be prepared for some unexpected things to go down.
I went into this book thinking one way and was totally blown away. It wasn't at all what I expected from the authors. By the end of the book, I wanted more of Savio and Andrea.
Let's talk about how this book is a dark romance and a dark thriller. You might say, "How can it be both at the same time?" Well, let me tell you a little bit about it.
We have a little bit of fate and destiny in play here. Andrea Jura believes she is an angel and of the light. A fallen angel sent here to save people who need a hand up in life, out of difficult situations. She began her path the first time she saw Savio Martin on TV. She saw his eyes and knew she was destined to be his one day. Until then, she continued helping those who needed her.
Savio Martin had a calling to become a priest. After a misfortunate timing of being in the right place at the wrong time, he became a dark avenging angel. Because of this, the Vatican wanted him to retire, but he couldn't. He has work to do. That is until he sees Andrea Jura's picture on TV. There's something about her that draws him to her. He doesn't think anything about her until she shows up at his church, and they meet face to face for the first time. He tried to fight his attraction to her. This is where Dark meets Light.
The way that Serena Akeroyd and G.A. Mazurke, write this book is absolutely mind-blowing and amazing at the same time. It is a must read, if you can get past a priest breaking several sacred vows that they are sworn to keep. I myself am Catholic, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It should have more than a five-star rating.

This book was dark and twisted, but OH SO GOOD. As much as I love steamy scenes, I really love that this book was not full of them and focused on the overall storyline. It is like delayed gratification in the best possible way. It is a hauntingly beautiful and dark story that will bring chills to your spine. It feels like it has a touch of the paranormal, but is really just strong religious conviction and faith. Though Savio does break his vows, his character is written in such a way that it doesn't seem as sinful, more just intensely...right. Savio and Andrea couldn't be more right for each other and it just sucks you right in and keeps you engrossed until the very last page. I don't want to give spoilers, so I will just leave this review off with a "THIS IS A MUST READ!!!!"

Does the thought of a rough and rugged Priest get you all hot and bothered?

If so, than Savio is the taboo priest you've been wanting and more.

Vows will be broken. Blood will be shed. Serena Akeroyd poured all of herself into this book and nailed it. The need and want for dark, taboo books has been growing and Serena dipped her toes into the Priest pond and it has paid off tremendously.

Andrea is a quirky off FMC and while we never truly learn why she ticks the way she does, we can chalk it up to the divine.

Andrea and Savio balance each other perfectly.

If you like dark, taboo, unconventional pairings...then this book is for you.

I read The Vows We Break, starting writing my review, deleted, started again, deleted, then read the book again. I loved it even more the second time through. Seeing the progression into the light of our heroine Andrea was a stark contrast the progression into the darkness of our poor long suffered Father Savio. But seeing them come together was a shared enlightening experience. Serena and G.A provide us a parallel between Faith and Science that prompts the reader to examine if they can believe without fact. I have read the book twice and know for a fact that I will read it again.

I really enjoyed this book I love how the dark attracts the light. I love how even though they don’t really know each other they end up having a love so strong they can get over anything as you see in the book. I love how Andrea will do anything for Savio.
Also love how Andrea lets Savio do things he needs to do and she doesn’t go running off like most people would, instead she embraces the dark of Savio.

This book was so well written. I couldn’t put it down. The topics discussed throughout the book may not be for everyone. If you don’t have triggers for some darker things you will enjoy this.

I never thought I would be one for a priest angle but it is so well written. I really loved Andrea, she has to be one of my favorite characters. She is such a strong young woman who knows who and what she is supposed to do in her life. You won’t be disappointed with this read.

This book has triggers so be warned before you read it. After enduring a hellish ordeal Savio’s life has become a dark and twisted place. Andrea is a strong and determined person, who knows that her path in life is to save him. Their story is dark and taboo, full of twists and turns, love and passion. Brilliantly written. A must read!

Another mindblowing book by one of my favorite authors. It's intense! With perfect imperfection and beautiful flaws! Savio and Andrea are vicious, warped, brutal but also kind and reassuring in their attempt to help the innocent. It's so different from anything I've read before. It starts way before the two even meat and it ends in the best way possible! Another masterpiece!

Absolutely amazing. I have to say I’ve never read anything like this. It’s nothing like anything I’ve read by Serena before. I loved the characters. There were definitely times I cried while reading this. It was an intense read at times due to content, but so worth it.
