Why would I want to read a book where the male character would have diseased privates if he wasn’t a shifter because he sleeps with multiple women every night? Who wants to read a romance starring him? Yuck. These shifters have no self respect, honor, or respect for their future mates. Mate books are all about how they come together and the pursuit. Not playboy crap. Suzanne wright honors shifters and mate romances. I read all her books and keep finding ones like this that are just gross with horrible male characters I wouldn’t even want to date or be seen with or be within ten feet of in person. So why would anybody want to read about it? I mean one sentence is he was getting two to three asses a night. That was said to his freakin mate! Talk about romance killer. If you bring up past discretions and make it all about his overactive slut behavior, it takes away all the potential and poisons the romance that was starting to be there. I really don’t get it because some of the books this author writes respects mates. There isn’t anything about past girls or being a manwhore. It’s just about him dealing with his animal side and accepting his has a mate then pursuing her. If we hate manwhores in real life, and we read to escape and read about our dream men, we don’t want to read crap where the male mate is dirtier than a New York alley. It’s a disgrace to mates and he doesn’t deserve one. He can go back to his club sluts he so thoroughly enjoys.
These stories have the females running from bad exes to just as bad guys. I mean guys that sleep around like that and just use women doesn’t respect them. These male characters suck and playboys have no place in romances because their low in the totem pole with abusers and abandoning etc. The male mate is supposed to be all alpha and possessive and all only about his mate in every book. Not trying to keep going with his 50 current hookups in town and at the club.
Protector Bear picks off right after Daddy Biker Bear. The last chapter in book one leads into our lead Hutch’s story.
Kim has a sad history of abuse and neglect, but she doesn’t let it get her down. Though she has erected walls around her heart.
Hutch is a teddybear, but also a player. He’s also an ass like his brother Grizz in regards to his treatment of women, but that changes once he meets Kim.
Hutch falls for Kim and protects her from her ex-husband. The writing isn’t great, but not bad. The storyline is enjoyable enough to pass the time. As before its an ok read.
3.5 stars When her ex suddenly reappears and attempts to assert control over her life, she unexpectedly finds herself entangled with a fiercely protective man—a presence she feels she neither wants nor needs. Despite her resistance, he stands his ground, refusing to back down in the face of escalating tensions. As their relationship unfolds, he proves to be an unwavering ally, gradually winning her trust and drawing her closer to him in ways she never anticipated.
However, after a particularly volatile confrontation, she stumbles upon a woman in his bed and, fueled by her emotions, jumps to the worst possible conclusions about him. This moment of doubt leaves her vulnerable and disoriented. Seizing the opportunity, a corrupt lawman kidnaps her, taking her directly to her manipulative ex, leaving her feeling trapped and scared.
Meanwhile, he wakes up to find an unexpected woman in his bed and learns of her deception—realizing the lie she's spun and the intentions behind it. He is furious and determined to rid himself of her presence, believing that cutting ties will solve his problems. But when he discovers that the woman he inadvertently loves in peril and misled by her own assumptions, he faces a daunting challenge. He must navigate the tumultuous emotions swirling around him, confront the truth of their situation, and find a way to rescue her. The question remains—can he break through her misconceptions and show her the reality that lies beyond the misunderstandings?
In this installment Hutch falls for Zoe's BFF Kim. He protects her from her ex-husband that has flipped his kid hurting women which is a step up from his he had treated her when they were married.I
As I said even with the danger this book dragged a bit for me and I found myself skimming. For the longest time it centered around Hutch trying to figure out why Kim didn't like him for many chapters. In a flip of a switch it changes no buildup.
I had a hard time connecting with these characters. They just didn't feel fully fleshed out and were on the whiney side. I wanted to yell man up at both the male and female lead characters. It was entertaining, had some decent steam and the underlying plot had good elements. It just felt flat and not really fleshed out.
This is the second book in this series. Hutch has watched his brother and Alpha find out that his mate is a human female and that he has a shifter son. Now he is finding out that he has the same ability to find a mate. And when he finds out that Kim is needing assistance to keep her ex from beating her he figures that he is just the bear to do the job. This story has also much drama and angst. He is after all a player who has ended many females in the near past. Can he change his ways for her?
(Hutch & Kim): TRIGGERS: Domestic Violence, Kidnapping, corrupt police, stalking. I actually liked this book. So Kim is Zoey's best friend and she's back in their hometown after leaving a bad marriage. The story picks up at the previous story's epilogue cliffhanger with a showdown between the bear shifters and her ex husband. He's in town and he's pissed that she left him. Naturally, Hutch takes it upon himself to make her safety his job and does it with the help of the club. I love that though Kim was in an abusive marriage, she wasn't scared of him and didn't shrink around him. She stood up for herself and learned how to protect herself. The chemistry between her and Hutch is undeniable once the story got going but I really believed that they didn't like each other in the previous book. They were so cute when they fell in love. I didn't like that he seemed to fall into the same trap that Grizz did with the club girl, it was very unoriginal.
This was a disappointment. Both MCs were pretty unlikable. I liked Hutch in book 1 but he was an arrogant asshole for most of this book who didn’t respect a single boundary Kim set. He bulldozed her in almost every interaction and I honestly I would have been fed up with him too. But you know, he’s super hot and broody and so we forgive him, right? Kim was equally unlikable. She’s a whiny ungrateful brat for the first half of the book, and while she has reasons to set boundaries and trust issues, she’s so adamant she doesn’t need help or protection it’s down right ridiculous. Especially because she keeps finding herself in situations where she needs rescuing. It’s extremely annoying when a FMC is needlessly combative and stubborn, especially when it’s obvious the MMC is helping her.
Then let’s discuss Hutch’a reformed playboy ways. This plot line is tired and I’ve only read 2 of 5 books. Seriously, all these guys are assholes to women and it’s a turn off. The whole “motorcycle club boys will be boys” thing was old in book 1, and just plain gross in this one. Kim hearing about how many girls Hutch hooks up with, HER best friend defending that behavior because he looks at Kim a certain way? Eww. And then the conflict that led to him unknowingly passed out drunk with a half naked groupie? Yeah… I’d be out. Don’t care how many abs you have. And our super independent, needs no man FMC? Yeah she just forgives and forgets that incident ASAP. He explains and is sad, and again, it’s a short shifter romance so we can’t spend too much time on it, but honestly. It went against her entire personality the whole book to just take him at his word. I don’t know. I disliked both MCs and that whole storyline felt contrived for drama and annoying. The bad guy was pretty evil, but the confrontation at the end where we could have really gone into the dark was silly and cheesy. The dialogue felt corny.
In general I was disappointed by this one and won’t be continuing the series as the next 3 seem pretty much the same formula and I’m burnt out on man whore shifters who steamroll their “mates”. 🥴

Protector Bear Bears of Forest Heights #2 Hutch and Kim
Sometimes it takes the right man, or bear, to prove that there are still good ones out there just waiting for the perfect woman.
Kim has come back to Forest Heights after college and a failed marriage. Swearing to have nothing more to do with men. She has a job she loves, her best friend and her godson. But her bestie is mated to one of the bear shifters, which means that she spends plenty of time with the bears. Hutch has seen his older brother mated and with a son. He’s happy for him, but would rather continue with his playboy lifestyle. When Kim’s past catches up with her, Hutch is all in coming to her rescue. He’s bound and determined to keep her safe. Whether she wants him to or not. It doesn’t take long before they find evidence that her ex has been in her house, and is refusing to leave town. This is when he moves her into his home. Better security, bears all around and he’s there with her. I loved Hutch. He absolutely was not looking for a mate, it took him awhile to come to terms with it, and was at times not the best with his communication skills. He kinda sucked at communicating. But he would have done everything in his power to keep her safe. Kim I struggled with a bit. I understand the reasons her character was the way she was, but at some point you have to give a little when you realize that everyone is going out of their way to keep you safe. She was so determined and stubborn to do things her own way, she failed to see the bigger picture. Overall a decent story. I love this shifter world these authors have created. Dual points of view. Happy ending.

.
A great follow-up to Daddy Biker Bear (can I just say that I hate that title?) We were introduced to Hutch in book 1. He is brother to the bear clan’s alpha, Grizz. Kim, our FMC, is best friends with Grizz’s mate. That’s how these series go. One couple falls and then the rest fall one, by one. But I’m not mad at it. This book is similar to book 1 in that there’s no unforseen plot twists, but it’s still a sweet, fast, easy paranormal romance read. And that is what I want.
Kim is pretty pragmatic, even though she has a sad history of neglect and abuse. Honestly, she doesn’t really let it get her down. Although she has erected walls around her heart to protect herself, she’s not a bitch about it either. She’s someone I would be girlfriends with IRL, so it was nice to see her get her HEA (HFN?)
Hutch is a big ole teddybear. He’s kinda rough around the edges, but a softy inside. The only negative I have for him, is that he was kind of an asshole, like his brother Grizz, regarding his treatment of women before he became involved with Kim. But for some reason, I didn't dislike him as much as I did Grizz.
Plot was a bit formulaic . . . Abusive ex is still terrorizing the heroine so the hero has to step in and protect her. While formulaic, I still enjoyed the book. While it didn’t blow me away like some of Ms. Ray’s other books, it was still good. Sting’s story is coming up next and I can’t wait to see what happens. Oh yes, I do intend to continue with the series.
WOW – Biker Shifter – NEW! Well, this is new to me, all the other shifter books that I have read were not bikers or anything of that nature. This is my first book from Roxie Ray, and I guess I would have liked to have started with Grizz and Zoey’s story, but this was great. This is about Kim and Hutch, some parts of Reck/Trent are in there too, but this is mainly about Kim escaping her ex-husband that is still after her, and Hutch making sure she is safe. It’s funny at the beginning of the story she is immune to Hutch’s charm and is stubborn as can be concerning him providing her protection. Hutch is determined after he saved her from her ex once that she was his responsibility. Of course, this story is good because you must put in some bad cops, bad politicians, and well a good fight here and there.
Overall, this story has meaning; not only of two individuals who fall for each other but that of how a person can be so much more than her upbringing and not allow for someone to control them mentally or physically. I would love to hear more on Reck/Trent as he is the younger brother of Grizz and Hutch, but I believe the next story has to do with Sting and Zoey's friend Alexis.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
🐻 “I’ve never felt this way about anyone, never. I can’t promise I won’t somehow fuck all this up, but I’ll tell you right now, I’ll do everything I can to do my best by you for as long as you want to be mine.” ~~~ I loved Kim. All she wants is a fresh start and to put the past behind her. But things don’t go as expected and her abusive ex-husband won’t leave her alone. But she’s one hell of a woman that doesn’t need a man to protect her. I loved her feistiness, strength and bravery.
And Hutch is the perfect match for her. I loved his determination to do anything to keep Kim safe despite her protests. Even more, I loved how open, direct and honest he was for his feelings for her.
I really enjoyed the development of their relationship. First they needed to learn to trust each other, then came friendship. And when Kim’s walls finally crumbled, that friendship transformed into a scorching hot and passionate love.
Overall, the story is another great addition to the series. It has drama, suspense, fast-paced action, twists, some misunderstandings, steamy romance and wonderful characters.
I loved it and cannot wait to see what happens next!
Seriously Hot Ship: Paranormal Dating Agency Book 40 By Milly Taiden Kindle unlimited purchase Book 40 I would like to say if you have gotten all the way to this point in this series you know who Gerri is and what this great series is about. I'm seeing a change in the series with the last couple of books Gerri is more of a character than just "finding" the couple. I have enjoyed getting to "know" her better in that way. Book 41 here I'm come.... lol
Protector Bear: Bears Of Forest Heights Book 2 By Roxie Ray First off let me say WHAT A COVER! Man bun all the way! This is book in this series. I hope everyone has looked ass book one and Grizz and his "cheating". This book is different from book one. Hutch is Grizz's younger brother and has already seen what Grizz did wrong and I'll not be doing that. It seems that this series is going to be one of the greats. The reason I think this is there is a lot of world building already in these first 2 books. Lots of the clan shows up in the book so far to lend a helping hand. Daddy Biker Bear Protector Bear Fake Biker Boyfriend Biker Bears Best Friend Biker Bears Redemption
Book two is Hutch and Kim's love story. I was looking forward to this one as I always liked Hutch. The book was good. Both main characters were solid and there was plenty of action and everything. But it just didn't quite fulfill on it's promise. The plot seemed too contrived, the villains two dimensional and the rescues too easy. Is was like a B movie. Also, and to me the greatest disappointment, was the lack of chemistry between Hutch and Kim. They said all the right things and had lots of hot sounding sex but I never felt the spark between them that's needed for a really good romance book. Overall the book was good but not anything special. After the first book it was a let down. I can only hope the next one, Sting's, is better. I also can't wait until we finally get Trey's. I have a soft spot for the youngest Allen and want him to find the love he so clearly yearns for.
Worth the read! I read the one before this as well, but didn't leave a review.
Hutch didn't really come off as goofy in this book as he was portrayed to be or maybe Reck was like that. The personality distinctions between the brothers gets blurred, but they are all likeable characters.
The female lead in this one has the perfect amount of strength and soft traits. Resistance was valid and it was nice to read an author not doing the “loveatfirstsight" trope, which attraction matters, but come on.
She's his nephew's godmother, they've known each other for years. More like passing nods to address someone's presence. Once he takes interest to protect her he can't leave her alone. She fights it for what seems like the perfect amount of time and let's him protect her. The switch doesn't seem spontaneous and he was patient with her. I seriously loved the pacing, just felt short and sweet.

I really enjoyed this book. A follow up book after daddy baker bear. Did I mention I love MC books, and shifter books. Put them together and you have a really good book especially if the writing is good. This book had everything in it that you could possibly want. Hutch is an amazing bear shifter, he is gorgeous, and he has taken it upon himself to protect Kim. Kim is pretty sure she doesn’t need looking after, but she couldn’t be more wrong. Her ex husband has gone real crazy, it started off just as bothersome but now has become extremely dangerous. Kim and Hutch have found that some thing special between them, now all Hutch has to do is keep Kim alive because her ex husband has become so dangerous that he would rather see her die then live without her. And it has the happily ever after that I crave at the end of the book. I can not wait for more books in the series.
This book is about Hutch, Grizz’s brother, and Kim, Zoey’s bestie.
We pick up exactly where we left off at the end of Daddy Biker Bear; Kim’s ex-husband, Richard, is causing a big issue that has Hutch coming to her rescue.
I really did enjoy this book especially experiencing poor Hutch just trying to help Kim and she basically not having it. He didn’t give up on his woman and was determined to protect her and it soon changed into some more for him which he didn’t expect.
I loved that Kim was so hard on Hutch at first, it definitely helped bring his cocky self down a peg. However, Kim wasn’t being difficult just to be difficult, she had her reasons, but her feelings for Hutch also started to change especially with the threat of Richard hanging around.
I can’t wait to read more about Sting and his “fake” girlfriend ;)
Like with the first book in this series, I really enjoyed the plot of this book. The premise is that BFF of Book 1 heroine, Kim, is minding her business when her rich, influential, abusive ex-husband rolls into town to harass her. Enter in Hutch (hero from Book 1’s younger brother), who can’t help himself and feels the urge to protect her, whatever she says.
I overall liked this. Yes, there is a bit of dubious consent over Hutch not leaving Kim alone and unprotected when she asks to be left alone and unprotected, but within the context of the danger she actually faces from her husband, it can pass. I actually liked both lead characters here and enjoyed their coming together story. Trigger warnings abound for domestic violence so avoid if you might be affected because it is on page. I’m still intrigued by this series and plan to move on to the next book.
3.5 but rounded down because it was a little too *insert peppy person skipping* for me.
The sex is hot, I’m telling you. I feel it in my STOMACH every time there’s a *gasps* moment. Love it to death. Good on you, author. Good. On. You.
The writing is fast-paced and doesn’t give you enough time to wind down so when it isn’t sexy time, it’s heart-wrenching time or SOMETHING to make you cry and even though I know it’s coming, it still makes me cry.
This couple started off ok. Hutch’s reaction to her didn’t exactly have a talk-through moment so it seemed a little left field. Kim’s irritation was totally normal. And her flaw of hating help. When they got together it seemed more normal. I read this because I like finishing series but it was pretty good.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Genre: Shifter MC Spice: 🥵 yes Series: Bears of Forest Heights, book 2
Thoughts - Hutch MMC! He’s the reformed playboy of the pack for sure. I loved his humour, he had some great one liners. I felt for Kim MFC as her story unfolded, you’re glad Hutch is as persistent as he is. Special mention to the first shift, such a sweet moment. Definitely recommend, especially if you liked book 1.
Plot - Kim is at the pack meet when the unthinkable happens. Her ex shows up wasted and looking for trouble. You would think after four years he would leave me alone, but tonight he’s unhinged. Enough for one of the shifters to step in. She doesn’t need a hero though, she just wants to live life on her terms.
* Bear shifters * Persistent Protector * A touch of primal play * Found Family * ⚠️ Trigger warnings
“Welcome to Sparta, motherfucker,” - such a funny moment 😂😂
Not a good start. Ex husband literally was going to hit her and she cowered in fear, and the hero had to pull him away from her, then has the balls to utter this crap “Hutch, thanks, but I don’t need a big strong man to take care of me.” Then makes it seem like he's out of line and being misogynistic after he had to jump in and prevent her from being abused. I'm on page freaking one and the one character I probably liked the best in Book 1 just became the one I dislike the most (next to the abusive ex of course)
Then the hero wants to put some guys on her house to help protect her and she throws ANOTHER hiss fit. She had NO PROBLEM in Book 1 with all the guards. Why is the author making her such an ass to Hutch foreign a nice guy?????? Does the author have issues with big guys being protective ffs
Kim's ex turns up again but Hutch and the bikers of the The Hangmen compound will protect her. Kim is shocked when the ex Richard turn up as last she heard he was living in Texas with his new wife over a thousand miles away but the Hutch and the other bikers of The Hangmen compound had protected her. Hutch and the other Bikers watch out for her Then he turns up out side where she works and he argues with her until Hutch turns up and gets him to leave. One of the bikers starts running checks on him and they find there is a warrant for for nearly beating his wife to death and they realize that he could be very dangerous and somewhat unhinged.

Kim has a very abusive ex Richard, that will not give her up even after four years. Hutch is a bear shifter and part of Hangman MC. He decides to protect Kim from the jerk , who keeps coming back through the story. Kim and Hutch start a relationship that skyrockets, but there are also plenty of issues and situations during the roller coaster ride of romance. Loved the close, trusting nature of the group, the females as well as the males. The feeling of family really comes through and then the wedding prep brings them even closer. The ending was perfect and can not wait to read more of this group.

Hutch is second in command of the bear clan and brother of the male lead from book one. Kim is the BFF of the female lead from the first book and her abusive ex-husband is stalking her. When Hutch comes to her rescue he appoints himself her protector. The more time they spend together, the more they realize the potential for so much more. There's plenty of sexy time with an alpha biker who's found his mate. As her ex escalates, Hutch vows to do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Strong second entry in the series. I'm eager to read the baby brother's story but the teaser of Sting as book three has me hooked.
P.S. Domestic violence (both emotional and physical) is described and takes place so fair warning if that's a trigger.
Daycare teacher Kim Halsey’s ex bursts into a shifter party determined to take Kim with him, Hutch Allen doesn’t hesitate to help his sister-in-law’s BFF. Though grateful, Kim wants no part of Hutch. After years of being abused by her stepfather to her ex-husband, the last thing Kim wants is an over-bearing, bossy man-whore taking over her life!
Kim’s entitled ex steps things up a couple of notches, really terrifies Kim and angers Hutch. But Hutch is there offering to protect, comfort and shelter Kim. She grudgingly accepts especially after Hutch realize how powerful her ex’s allies are. Not only is he a shifter hater, so are they and that group has yet to find a problem money won’t solve. Okay, I "liked" this one better than the first but still.... There was a lot that bothered me.
"Protector Bear" picks off right after "Daddy Biker Bear". And like with the first book, the last chapter in "Protector Bear" is the first chapter of "Fake Biker Bear Boyfriend".
Kim is supposed to be this though girl with a tragic backstory, and sometimes she is written though, but most of the time she is just a whining little girl in a grown womans body. Hutch is supposed to be this big fluffy protector but he comes of as overly possessive most of the time.
We get introduced to Rogue, Alexis and Sting and we see a little more of Trey. The story felt a bit like a repeat of the first book, but I don't have high expectations for this series and they are just fun and easy read.
At first I thought this was the typical book where the heroine was going to be feisty just because and do those TSTL things for no reason. And the Hero was going to be a alpha playboy goofball that annoyed me. And in some ways these were the characters. HOWEVER, the author did a great job giving these characters background and fleshing out their foibles and issues so who they were made sense. And the heroine admitted she wanted to try and the hero admitted he was ready to commit. So ultimately it was a good book with a satisfying HEA.
