Trapped between societal boundaries, siblings Tom and Theia Edwards thought they knew all about the family business they just inherited from their father. When the true nature of his dealings are revealed, they are thrust into the savage world of drug smuggling for a Mexican cartel.
Forced to continue the work their father once did or suffer the consequences of having their darkest secret exposed, they embark on a journey that will reel them into a nest of vipers full of deceit and betrayal at every turn. But underestimating the forbidden and unbreakable bond between Tom and Theia can prove to be just as deadly to anyone standing in their way.
This is a totally unapologetic, no excuses, only that they love each other kind of taboo. I’m not certain but I do believe this is the first time I’ve read that. There’s always some sort of mental illness, separation, extreme circumstances that are made to excuse the behavior but not here. So bravo!
This is short but we’re given a well thought out, well written, never boring storyline. We go from siblings losing their father, the last member of their family to taking over the family business to discovering the family business deals in cocaine with the Mexican Cartel.
Everything that ensued after kept me on the edge of my seat, it was emotional and gut wrenching and harrowing. Even if I saw a few things coming, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of discovering everything yet to unfold.
My only real complaint is the lack of steam and grit. I expected violence, perhaps a bit of gore but it was pretty clean and tame. I also expected highly erotic but that too was pretty glazed over. But that’s just my personal taste.
“I love you more, baby bird. I love you so much it fucking hurts.”
Listen, I have been on the look out for new taboo romances for a while and when I saw this one I screamed. I love these kinds of books and I have no shame about it. Tom and Theia’s relationship is unconventional but they were obsessed with each other and nothing would get in the way of their love. 🥵 I just wish this was longer!! I would have loved a more fleshed out book. I’ll definitely read more from this author!
HOT DAMN. What was this and why did I love this so much?!
The book starts out pretty normally(albeit the MCs have an unconventional relationship) and makes you think "yeah, I have this figured out" but then twists come in the second half to knock you out. I really enjoyed reading this and would definitely reread it. The characters are very intriguing and have lots of layers to them. You get something new with each chapter. The plot is really unique and well narrated. It all seems like a movie; the elements and scenes. I really loved the cover too. Tom is hot af, NGL. The way he loves Theia is *insert me swooning*. Theia is such an enigma, we don't really get her all at once. She unravels slowly and it's all executed so well.
The mystery and suspense elements are really well portrayed, some of the stuff I never saw coming. It makes you think you know what's happening but in reality, you don't. All in all, LOVED it. Wish it was longer.
Sexy, suspenseful and dangerous! Intriguing romance suspense story with a taboo element. Yup, brother and sister lovers. The love between Tom and Theia was all consuming and beautiful even with the taboo element. Loads of steam and sizzle in the story. The author does a fantastic job of bringing the heat. There were lots of twists and turns and jaw dropping surprises that were outstanding. I love this author's thrilling storytelling and suspense elements. The taboo twist seemed kind of thrown in and really didn't add much to the story other than an illicit element. I love taboo stories but for some reason this was a little icky for me and the surprise at the end went too far for me. With Theia's medical issues, trauma, medicines and procedures the likelihood of the all's well with the surprise at the end was too far fetched for me. Regardless, this was an exciting romance suspense with tons of action, danger and hot love. This was a quick, easy read that moved fast with chills and thrills at every turn. I will read more by this author. Worth the read!
A tabou, sick and twisted relationship between Tom and his younger sibling Theia. They are bound in sin forever. Tom avoided his sister every chance until it was too much to bare. Theia was determined at all costs. After the death of their father they inherited his business. Much to their surprise it wasn't what it seemed. An entanglement with the cartel was the last thing they needed. Death was on the horizon.
Super short, super spicy, and super taboo a definite must read as long as you can handle the trigger warnings.
This book seriously shocked the shit out of me. I haven’t read a good Novela in quite some time and this one was absolute perfection. Taboo as all hell which everyone knows I’m always here for just enough action and plot to make it more than just a smut book.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

You should be warned that this a taboo romance and you might want to think about that if taboo things bother you. But this book is really good and I enjoyed reading it so if you like taboo reads you will probably like this book too. This is the story of Tom and Theia who have just inherited their father's business that they really do not know a lot about it. They also are obsessed with each other and nothing or no one is going to get in the way of their love for one another. Things are never as simple as I made this seem because Tom really did try to avoid the way he was feeling at every turn until it was just to much and he couldn't take it anymore. Now as a united front they are taking on their father's business and are shocked when they are forced to carry on dealing with a Mexican cartel or lose their lives. This book is not to long, is really steamy and will keep you on your toes. I loved a lot of things about this book but really loved how it turned out and I couldn't put it down.
This book reads like the script of an action movie with lots of twists and turns. It was engaging and exciting, I loved every minute of this plot and it’s steamy too, so a great combination. I just couldn’t get past the fact that the MCs are siblings. Step-siblings would work and not have that yuck factor but they’re blood-related. I assumed the taboo here would be related to the business they inherited so I was not prepared for this. I enjoyed this book but that little fact keeps me from completely loving it unconditionally. It’s a fantastic plot and ends with a great set up for a series but incest just isn’t my jam. I received an ARC from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.
This is a book about a twisted relationship between Tom and his younger sibling Theia. So if this is something you can't read this isn't the book for you.
Tom knew it was wrong so he tried to avoid his sister and his feelings. Theia was determined at all costs. After their father's death, they inherited his business. The business had some entanglement with a dangerous cartel. How do they get out of this entanglement because these two only want to be together?
It was a very interesting book that was a quick read that I read cover to cover. There were some twists and turns and a lot of drama that made it interesting. The sibling romance is out there but it didn't bother me at all. I felt their connection and felt Theia's pain. These two had a connection that without each other life wasn't worth living. That is a deep connection. I really liked this one. Good out there Tabou type of read.
I've been looking for a taboo book to read in what feels like forever and found this book after reading the blurb I knew I had to read it. I got more than I was expecting and loved every lil dirty detail. This was by a new arthur and i cant wait to read more from her. Tom and Theia have a certain relationship that they've kept hidden for years and now that their father died their not hiding it anymore, but soon they're finding out that their father was doing things for the cartel and they wanted Tom to continue. What are they going to do? Who can they turn to to help them? Those are just some of the questions as this book has twists and turns and secrets that just kept coming. If you love reading your book's a bit on the taboo side and some suspense thrown in there you definitely need to read this.
Tabou is the title & it certainly had a crazy amount of tabou so you have been warned. Tom & Theia have a very unusual relationship that had me feeling icky LOL! They're taking over the family business their father left them but little did they know that they inherited drug running for a Mexican cartel. The plot was fast paced, suspenseful, and kept me on the edge of my seat cover to cover. Their journey is not for the faint of heart that's for sure as there's no way around the fact that the cartel's mean business & there's no way out when it comes to their business. Now Tom & Theia's world is turned upside down as there was betrayal around every corner so the twists were coming in hot. So yeah, Tabou was addictive, tabou (duh LOL), and absolutely insane so if you're brave enough, hit those one click buttons for a darkly wild ride! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Tom and Theia are siblings who have an unconventional relationship, which does not make their love for one another any less real. Having inherited the family business from their father, they thought they knew everything they needed to know to run it, however, they are soon involved in cartels and drug smuggling. This is a well written story which is has a unique and intricate plot, which is filled with secrets, betrayal, deceit, danger, suspense, twists, mystery, and love. I was intrigued throughout this addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend.
“Tabou” tells the story of a bl••d related brother and sister who recently lost their parents and are thrown into the criminal cartel world that their parents were involved in. It is told in 3rd person. The story is pretty fast-paced, and the characters’ relationship is said to be established before their parents have passed and then restarted again since they now have the freedom to have their relationship out.
I did feel this was more of a suspense book that happens to have a taboo relationship in it; that is, the couple could have been not related.
I loved this so much!! So much better than expected. I loved how much they both loved each other and didn’t feel guilty for their relationship. And I love that they would do anything for each other. I wish we could have gotten a few flash back scenes to their first kiss or their first time together. Anyways this was my first book by this author and cannot not wait to read more of her books. If you love taboo stories check this one out!
Update: just looked up the author and apparently she hasn’t written anything since 2021 😭 hope she comes back and continues writing.
3.5⭐️ This is short almost like a novella. Not bad! My first book from the author. I like that the h even with a weak heart is not meek and just a cry baby in this one. She actually have some backbone in her and how unapologetic they are about their taboo relationship. I just wished it was longer & get to know their feelings particularly before they were even together to feel more tension & steam here.
This book was like an action packed movie - there were so many moving parts and as the pieces started to click together you get that “ah hah” moment. The main characters might have had an unconventional relationship but their love was no less real and worth fighting for. Tom proved that he was smarter than everyone who looked down on him and I absolutely love how this book ended.
This was different then what I expected but really good nonetheless. The storyline had twists you don't see coming, a good amount of steam and romance and some good characters. The relationship between the main characters is certainly tabou but given past royalty, not as heavy on tabou imo. Good read.
I love a good taboo/forbidden romance as long as it is done right and this book was done hella right. Tom and Theia are perfectly broken in every way and the chemistry and sex is off the charts! Is the story wrong? Yes on so many levels! Do I care? No I don't because it's just that a story and it was a wonderfully fast-paced, action packed, love story that will grip you from the start and take you down the dark rabbit hole that is Tom and Theia's love and you know what I loved every second of it!
