Moon Cursed #2

Wolf Untamed

Rate this book
You can only trust yourself.

They say it’s more dangerous being a lone wolf. I say having friends isn’t worth the pain. Everyone I’ve ever known has betrayed me. You’d think by now, I’d learn not to trust anyone.

My old pack wants me dead. My true mate wants to complete the bond. My inner wolf is a no-show. The decks are stacked against me and if I survive this, I have no idea where to go next.

I’m out of tricks and out of allies but there’s one path I haven’t tried: finding out about my father. My mom warned me against him but at this point, how can my life get any worse?

Wolf Untamed is the second book in a trilogy. It is intended for readers 17+ due to steamy situations and dark themes. This book ends on a cliffhanger and is not a standalone.

Welp....she is still a wimp.

World build:
Still feels incomplete but not to a frustrating level.

Storyline:
Continues from book 1 and is still intriguing yet is missing some spice...action...romance....strong FMC.

FMC:
Is still the weakest "alpha" I have ever read. I mean this chic is helpless. She can't fight. She can't make decisions on her own. She can't shift properly. She can't even find her way around their territory without getting lost. She is the downfall of the series IMO.

MC:
Alec has not redeemed himself as I had hoped. Same as book 1 but now add hypocrite to the list.

Sigh....this did not go as I had hoped.

Happy reading,

The nice thing about following an author from the start of their career is that you all of a sudden notice that they are getting better. I already enjoyed Calder's earlier work. She has a rich imagination and she knows how to write great and interesting characters, but I feel like the first book in this series took everything to a whole new level. I was therefore quite excited when BookSprout let me know that the second book was available! I couldn't wait to start reading.

The second book starts where the first book ended and just like the first book it's a rollercoaster that is simply going faster and faster and faster. There are some really amazing twists and turns, characters are all of a sudden doing really surprising things and we learn a whole lot of new things about both our main character and the other characters we've met in the previous book in the series. It was almost impossible to quit reading.

I of course don't want to give too much away, but I really like how this second book sets the premise for the third book in the series. And what a premise it's gonna be! I was already excited to read the second book in the series, but I'm even more excited about the third book. Also because I feel that our heroine is growing and learning, becoming more sure of herself and what she wants, and I can't wait to see where it will end!

And last but not least, I really love how the mating bond in this series works. Don't get me wrong, I love all those fated mates romances with sappy happily ever afters, but this rawer version of it is refreshing. And honestly? Even after reading the second book I still have no clue where this will all end exactly. So many possibilities, so many options, and so many mistakes made and apologies needing to be whispered and screamed.

Ah, is the third book ready already? I NEED IT!

I'm still interested in how this series progresses and ends. I still like Lola. In fact, I probably like her more as she's starting to strengthen up. I like her found family. And the writing is quite readable (minus a few editing mishaps). But I'm kind of losing my patience with the serial nature of it all.

I went into the series knowing the books end on cliffhangers and are not stand alone. So, I can't complain about that. But this book is only 156 pages long. The first was only 232. One can't imagine the next (which I think is the last, though I'm not sure why I think that, so I could be wrong) being much longer. I just don't see any reason for this story to be broken into 3 books. And you can really feel that here in book two. It feels like the middle of a book—not the middle of a series, the middle of a book.

And while book one was about werewolves, here we suddenly have goblins, and fae, and vampires, and witches thrown at us. Though all but the last are merely mentioned, not integral to the story. So, we get hints of a bigger world. But it feels random and out of place showing up in book two, without mention of any of it in book one.

Despite having said all that, I am still curious where it'll go. So, I'll be on the hook to read book three.

Decent story

You my dear need either a new editor or a couple of decent ARC readers to go through your work before you release. For a good deal of the book you kept mixing up Ace (bad guy) with Alec (possibly good guy). It was so distracting I could barely concentrate on the storyline. And that is just one glaring example.
There's a multitude of spelling and grammatical errors that also contribute to this issue.
There's a decent story buried there.
Good luck

This book was definitely not as good as the first one.

PROS
- keep looking forward to revenge
- short fast read

CONS
- the first book had a simple plot. It was a rejected mate and bully book. Then this book added Fae, witches, magic, ruthless father, new brother, antidotes, etc. It is not simple anymore and made things more complicated than necessary.
- don’t think she should forgive Alec for turning her over. He had many other options. Why not just get the money and then kill Tyler, Ace, etc?
- Alec and Lola’s relationship was not built up enough. They barely talked to each other, then they had sex and now he says that Lola is the best thing to happen to him. I just don’t feel the connection.
- the reveal of who’s Lola’s father was really anticlimactic. Lola’s dad was not anyone that had been introduced or even talked about in the story so his identity meant nothing to me. On top of this, her father is supposed to be ruthless and scary but I don’t see why. He tried to over throw a king that no one cares about but how does that make him a savage? Overall, the father plot is stupid and was poorly flushed out.

I do want to see revenge against Tyler but I’m not sure I care enough to read the next one.

At least I can say I like how long it's taking her to forgive the guy she's obviously going to end up with. I'm always here for a good groveling

I remember finding this ok, but I left it too long to review and now I can’t freaking remember enough which isn’t the best sign!
What I do remember is that Lola is still pretty weak and Alec still has a lot of trust to build, I didn’t feel like either character developed much further which is a shame but I do like the involvement of her father I feel like that could be a great direction for this series so il continue on as they are really easy to read.

We have suspense and a little action. Yes there is errors in my copy, but it is an ARC copy. Hopefully before it is on sale it will be corrected. Lola is still trying to break her bond, but it is getting stronger. Alec and her when finally free she has many things to figure out. Now a new mystery and what will happen there. Will she ever break her bond? Now what is this about her dad? Why is everyone after her? Can she live through it all

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wolf Untamed is the second book in the Moon Cursed series by Alexis Calder and it's was even better than the first, I don't know how that was even possible because the first book was great. Wolf Untamed picks up pretty much where Wolf Marked left off, with Lola in the hands of her old pack with Tyler trying to convince her to complete the mating bond. Between fighting off Tyler and trying to stop her old alpha from killing her, to making startling discoveries, and working on her shifting and personal connections, looks like Lola has a lot on her hands.

Lola has lived with years and years of abuse, living with one parent who just didn't care, all Lola ever had was herself. No friends, no family to count on so I can understand after a deep betrayal why Lola is having a very hard time trusting anyone after she escaped from the Wolf Creek pack. Lola is strong and she is willing to fight for her future for her freedom but she is starting to learn some things and realize that maybe some of the wolves in Wolf Creek need some help. She was given the alpha mark for a reason and now she is starting to wonder if she should answer that call. I think she should, Lola is kind, thoughtful, and she knows what it's like to be mistreated. She would make a good alpha if she started to believe she could actually do it. She is doubting herself because she has to work on her wolf side, she wants to fight her own battles but so far she has needed a little help and she's learning to accept help where she can.

The help she finds in this one comes from a few surprising faces. One is Malcolm, he finally shares his story, the next is Sheila but she wasn't really a surprise, I love that Lola has a true friendship with someone. The two most surprising people are someone from her old pack has finally stepped up and I can't believe I didn't see why. He isn't so bad and as time goes on I see his better qualities. The other person is Alec, the same Alec who betrayed Lola at the end of Wolf Marked. I wanted to keep on hating Alec and for a while I did, I was right there with Lola in my feelings giving him shade left and right but as the story went on and things were explained and more of his true colors started coming out, dang-it if he did pull me in. I fell for him all over again, it was impossible not to. Alec has apologized over and over again. He has shown who he really is through his actions, his understanding, his willingness to help, and the protection he wants to provide. I can't help but like the man.

This plot was wild and best of all Lola was in her feelings the entire time, it was great. So some light was shone on Alec's actions and some of his past was revealed which really explains so much about him as a person and why he made the decisions he did. He still messed up, but he is genuinely sorry and is working on things with Lola, he's starting to open up to her more. Through Alec, some shifter history is revealed including it looks like the king of wolf shifters isn't that good of a guy. Also, Alec's connection with someone else reveals more of Lola's personal history, things about how her grandfather created the toxin that hurts wolf shifters, and what happened with her mother all those years ago, and maybe why she is the way she is, comes to light. Then add in wolf history with other supernatural creatures, a witch who is a little scary and a big shocker at the end, things were pretty crazy. Lola keeps asking "it can't get any worse?" but from what I've been seeing, it can always get worse. Wolf Untamed was fantastic, I loved every minute of it but it was that ending that was freaking epic, my jaw dropped.

Wolf Untamed was entertainment at its best with a captivating plot and characters that I love. There was a lot of craziness in between that involved, feral shifters, wolf politics, physical attacks, some steam, a witch and ended with some family drama and a bigger crap-show than I could have seen coming. Things got messy in this one but the mess isn't over with yet, looks like things might get a little worse for Lola before they get better and I can't wait to see how the story concludes in the final book in the series, up next is Wolf Chosen.

Another really quick read at 230ish pages, and very nearly as good as the first!

Here I’m going to spoil the plot for you, so stop reading if you’re not into that:

Lola is being held captive by her old pack, drugged up with the anti-shifting toxin that also makes her weak and lose awareness. Tyler wants her to submit to him to complete their mating bond. His dad Ace, the alpha, wants Tyler to just get on with it and do it by force. Tyler gives her a few days in captivity to come around to the idea. She tries to escape, Ace sees the Alpha mark on Lola’s body, and decides to kill her instead. Kyle overhears that she’s got the Alpha mark and decides that he, as a marked Protector, should serve Lola instead of Tyler. He tells Lola that Alec is in a cell in the basement and he can get them both out if she wants him saved too. Lola agrees. Kyle springs Alec out of his cell, kills sadistic bully Julian, leaves Julian’s body in the cell, and then sets the place on fire. In the chaos of the fire, Kyle gets Alec and Lola out and they all run for it. They escape to the feral camp community and regroup. Lola is mad at everybody and doesn’t know who to trust, but she decides to trust Kyle. Alec sold her to her enemies so she doesn’t trust him. Turns out, Alec did that to try to play both sides. He planned to spring her the next day, but he sucks at planning rescues and purposely got himself caught instead. He needed the money Ace paid for Lola to pay a witch to break Lola’s ties to her father, who, as it turns out, is the brother to the shifter king, who to usurp the throne. When he failed, the king exiled Lola’s dad and stated any child of his would be killed. So, if the plan was for Lola to then take over her pack as Alpha, the king would have discovered their familial connection and had Lola killed. The spell the witch would have performed should save Lola’s life. Lola is still mistrustful of Alec when she learns all of this. Lola discusses everything with Sheila and Malcom, Malcom is revealed as Lola’s older brother, who is also unknown to their father, and who has been hiding under magical concealment spells all this time. Lola, Alec, Malcom, Sheila, and Kyle all set out on a hike to meet the witch to do the spell. Along the way, they are attacked by wolves from Lola’s pack and are split up. Lola goes off with Alec and they have sexy times in a cave, even though all is not forgiven. At the place where they are to rendezvous with the rest of the team, Tyler shows up. Alec challenges Tyler for Lola’s mate bond and they fight as wolves. Alec wins. Tyler should then agree to break the bond with Lola, but when she says “I reject you,” he tries to inject her with a lethal dose of the toxin. Alec pushes her out of the way and takes the dose instead. The rest of the team shows up and they carry a dangerously ill Alec to the witch’s home. The witch, Star, gives Alec the antidote that the two of them had been working on together. The antidote works and Alec recovers. Meanwhile, Star tries to do the spell to break Lola’s ties to her father, but her father had given Alec a vial of vampire blood instead of his own, and they are nearly killed by the backfiring spell. Lola’s father shows up. He’d been tracking the blood vial he’d given Alec. He then demands Lola and Malcom’s help in overthrowing the king. They agree. CLIFFHANGER.

This book is a bit more scattered than the first, and the typos and editing issues are annoying, but I’m still really wrapped up in this story. I like that Lola isn’t automatically transformed into the best, most kickass fighter around and that her change into a full shifter is a struggle. Make a girl work for it! For example, she hated that Alec had to fight Tyler for her, both because she wasn’t capable of fighting as a wolf yet and because she thought the whole “challenge for a mate” thing archaic and sexist. I like that she’s a reluctant hero. Too many books of this genre make the FMCs into invulnerable badasses.

Onto the next! And again, the goddamned cliffhanger is only pardoned because the next book is already published.

Took a turn for crap

About 30-35% into this one, it took a turn from interesting to downright ridiculous.

The girl has been in and out of consciousness for days, has no clothes or shoes, can’t reach her wolf yet she decides, after a shower, a granola bar and water, wearing just a bath towel that it’s the perfect time to escape from a place that she’s been told is surrounded by shifter enforcers. Of course, she doesn’t succeed.

Then the explanation for why Alec did what he did doesn’t make a lick of sense and doesn’t add up. The man apparently traveled from the Washington Oregon border to Chicago and back, plus was able to make a trek through the forest on foot to a special hidden place all while Lola was living at the camp. I know the author made Alec scarce a few times while she was there, but it wasn’t nearly long enough to do all these things. Then he supposedly had to make that trek through the forest again while Lola was in captivity but was able to get back to the camp the next day for phase two of his plan.

Then there’s Kyle’s explanation of what happened to Julian, after we’ve already gotten a good description of both Kyle and Julian in book one and we know who should come out on top between them.

Then, after the scene by the barn in book one saying how mating bonds were sacred and all that when Tyler revealed the truth, in this book suddenly you can challenge someone for their mate, but you can’t challenge an alpha for the alpha spot. (even though that’s where this was leading all this time with her and Ace). Then, she says the bond won’t let her hurt Tyler or even think about it, but the bond doesn’t seem to have a problem letting Tyler kick her multiple times and then tell his friend to throw her in a cave to die, or to tell them to attack her. Tyler has known about the bond a lot longer than she has, has felt it a lot longer too, yet he had no problem beating the crap out of her despite him feeling the pain himself. When she finally punches Tyler, the only pain she felt was in her hand, not like he described feeling the pain when he hit her (yet he was still able to do it, repeatedly). She can’t even think about killing him once the bond got stronger, but he was able to plot to plunge her with a syringe? Come on author, be consistent.

And I still don’t know how to feel about Alec. This book tries to make him more trustworthy towards the end, but the explanation for his actions is still lacking.

The world building kinda went left in this one because it’s not really explained how humans and supes coexist and now we have introduced more than just wolf shifters and witches. Chicago is apparently vampire territory and they also have a king like the wolf shifters do. Lola’s lack of basic shifter knowledge is explained away by her feeling she didn’t need to know about the shifter world, but that didn’t make any sense considering she knew she would have to survive said world until she was nineteen and had her First Moon Ceremony.

See my notes, highlights and commentary on Goodreads while I brave through book 3, hoping it’s the conclusion to this story. Happy reading!

A good continuation from book 1.

Lots of editorial mistakes that made me re read a lot of stuff to be able to understand it.

There wasn’t much character development in all honesty. I felt like Malcom did develop his character quite a bit by opening up when it was mentioned in book 1 he never opened up to anyone.

Kyle has become an ally but that seems to only be because of the alpha mark on Lola and his protector mark. I guess those marks are supposed to make you loyal but I can see why Lola has a hard time trusting anyone around her when everyone has either fucked up her life or messed with her head.

I knew Alec wouldn’t have sold Lola out for no reason but he hasn’t exactly made it up to Lola yet, he still has A LOT of making up to do for her.

I’m annoyed her mate bond is still there but I knew Tyler wouldn’t give it up easily. He needs taking out in a painful way. I’m still hoping that Alec and Lola are second chance mates or that her bind to Tyler is false or something because the fates shouldn’t be that cruel.

Unfortunately Lola is still the weakest character by far although she is starting to stand up for herself. She is quite a weak FMC but I’m hoping that the author has made the choice to make her weak in the last 2 books so she can become so much stronger in the final book. She doesn’t seem to be connected to her wolf and her wolf shows up at inappropriate times or doesn’t show up when she is desperately needed. I hope she gets to connect to her wolf.

We have a lot of different things happening at once for Lola and now she has to overthrow the wolf king with her father and make shift family of feral wolves. I feel like the author has put too many issues into one series and all at the same time. A shitty mate bond, a heartbreak with Alec, being hunted by the Wolf Creek pack, needing to become alpha to make the pack better, needing to sever her claim to her father so she isn’t killed by the royal family and then having to overthrow the royal king because he is a sick shifter. It’s just so much crammed into 3 books but sometimes I feels like the author is going round in circles.

It’s a great concept but honestly some of these could have been resolved before the next issue arose. I feel we aren’t getting as much from these issues as we could because the author doesn’t have enough time to explain them all.

After Alec’s betrayal, Lola finds herself in the hands of her abuser and mate Tyler. Their mate bond has gotten stronger so now Tyler wants to complete the bond whether Lola likes it or not. Lola knows that if they do complete the bond, she will be unhappy for the rest of her life. As fate would have it, the moon goddess also put the mark of Alpha on Lola making her the true alpha of her pack. With a broken connection to her wolf, how in the world can she be alpha?

Once Kyle, Tylers #3, finds out that Lola has the mark, he switches sides. Kyle helps to free Lola with the help of Alec. They go back to the camp of ferals to make a plan. Now that more people know about Lola’s mark, they want her to challenge the Alpha and help to fix the pack. They have been ruled by a tyrant for too long and it shows. She needs to work hard to connect with her wolf and get stronger before she can even think of going back home. Plus once again she is in hiding and on the run from Tyler. The curse was a lie and when she questioned her mother as to why she lied for so long, all she said was that she was protecting Lola from her biological father. Lola has no idea who he is and why shifting will be dangerous.

On top of all this, her feelings for Alec are even more confusing than before. He betrayed her by selling her back to Tyler but he had his reasons to do so, even being heartbroken about that fact, Lola still wants him. She has enemies left, right and center but this time she also has more friends she can rely on to help.

I love the character growth of Lola. She finds out she’s the true alpha but still has to put in the work. Her wolf is still not responding fully to her. They both want different things. To become one, they have to both be on the same page. I really like how the author is writing Lola’s character growth. A lot of times when you read other books it would be like, she finds out she's the true alpha then BAM, she is strong and her wolf magically is there, But no, this author took the time to write a slow path which is much more realistic.

21% - Excuse me, why are both Kyle and Alec pushing for Lola to accept her bond with Tyler? Literally all she has asked for since finding out about the bond was to end it and while Alec doesn't know EVERYTHING Tyler did to her, Kyle was there for it. He even participated! He knows exactly what Tyler did to her. I don't care at all about Tyler's mom being all, "It was his way of dealing with the bond" - that's bullshit and everyone knows it. He still chose to spend the past ten years beating the shit out of her and breaking her bones, left her in a cave to die, and threatened to rape her to complete the bond if she didn't agree to bond with him willingly. The thought of even being near him makes her sick to her stomach. If they continue on this path I won't be finishing this.

33% - She asks him about what happened while he was captive, he says Tyler beat and whipped him. He seriously doesn't ask ANYTHING about what happened to her? I know he was planning to rescue her, but did he not think at all about what was going to happen to her when he handed her over to her mate? After everything she told him about them he didn't at all consider they could rape or beat her. Smart man.

Finished. Ok fine, Alec has redeemed himself. A little. He’s still an idiot for believing anything her old pack alpha said. I am also a little annoyed that we’re STILL dealing with the mate bond two entire books later. Can someone either break it or kill Tyler already? Pretty please? I’m curious how the author is going to wrap up all these sub-plots with only one book to go.

this is a review for book one & two in the series.

this month I have been craving supernatural romances and I have been on a particular shifter kick so this seemed right up my alley.
I won’t lie, I read both books back to back so I can’t lie and say I didn’t enjoy them because I did. but don’t get me wrong, there was nothing revolutionary about either book and I’ll probably forget about them in a week but these were good ‘in the moment books’ and I am down for that.

I hate the bully trope so I was wary going into these books but it wasn’t done in an overly cringe way (if you can even describe it as that) and I liked how we had a strong female character who stood up for herself.
the plot was fine. predictable but it worked and I enjoyed it enough I wanted to carry on reading.
I will say, the romance aspect was lacking and I expected more build up and intensity than was there. I think a lot of things got glossed over and our female hero was very easy going with horrible betrayals thrown in her way and I kind of felt like the author was trying her hardest to make it seem fine when it wasn’t.

however, these were decently written books with enough of a pace and story line to keep me reading!

book two has a lower rating due to the lack of world building I expected from being a series and the staggered plot which is why I won’t be reading the third book. >

- I’m sitting here now I’m total shock.

- why couldn’t he tell her the plans and the secrets? She was clearly not that fragile or sensitive, she did everything she could to open up to everyone and to tell him her secrets. Why didn’t Malcom tell her what they were planning? Everyone just looked shady.

- Kyle, the ex-bully was legit the only guy I enjoyed and that was already a challenge in itself. At least he did redeemed himself, no secrets, full of honesty. Now Calec was beyond redeemable. He didn’t tell her so many things. How to break the bond without people dying before it was too strong? Tell her about her father? The witch? The money? If he had told her maybe they could have a plan? With back up? It’s just mind blowing that he didn’t think she was strong or trust her at all. I truly don’t want to be mean but, I, personally felt him to be untrustworthy and he did not have the leadership skills to be an Alpha at all.

- magic: the alpha marks gives them no extra power? How is she so powerless but yet still chosen to be an Alpha? Like the protectors protect, and the alpha???? This frustrated me.

- the other plot points with her father and the witch felt like an afterthought for a really long while. It left me wondering if the witch plot was truly necessary for the plot (if I think of book 1-2) besides to give the li a reason to “betray” our mc.

- idk, I hope Kyle and her can just run away and form a pack and find happiness, like she can find a new mate and all away from these people.

***SPOILERS***
In the first book I really struggled with Lola, I found myself in a constant eyeroll. She had excuses for EVERYTHING (and it continued in book 2!) If she didn't know something that should've been obvious it was because she didn't listen in class or retain any knowledge because she was going to become a human.
Okay so this is everything I didn't like about this book:

Lola - I thought with everything that happened she would go back to the pack and train since she's so weak, and now she wants to be alpha.... nope
She also has excuses for her dumbness all the damn time. Every chapter "...I didn’t think I’d need to use it since I was hoping to blend in with humans and ignore the supernatural world. Now, I wished I’d listened better." Pg.150

Shelia - she was always kind in the first book, but all of a sudden Lola comes back and they are giggling school girls? That doesn't happen and it felt like too much of a personality change to really enjoy her character.

Too many of these!!! - “Well, most packs have to worry about witches. Expect for Wolf Creek..." pg. 150

🛑 Spoilers Ahead 🛑

Not quite what I was expecting after the first book. Much shorter too. Lola slowly starts to stand up for herself finally, but is still portrayed as weak. Tyler continues to try to force her to complete the mating bond despite his years of abusing her, so much so that force is threatened. Lola battles with the emotions of Alec’s betrayal in spite of the pull she feels for him. She discovers Kyle (from Wolf Creek pack) is a protector by birthright and when he discovers her alpha mark, he helps her and Alec escape Tyler and his father’s capture as he says he’s loyal to true alpha. Her friend Sheila even steps up in to her inner circle of sorts. And so begins the journey of Lola challenging for alpha. As this short book comes to a close, we finally meet Lola’s dad Spencer who manages to get her to agree to overtake the King to make him King, but this comes after Tyler nearly kills Alec and is dead set on making Lola his slave essentially and he’ll stop at nothing.

betrayal are us

Way too many betrayals left and right and she’s just supposed to forgive them. No way.

I barely like Sheila and Malcom. Alec, Kyle, her mate, her father none of them deserve her and most of them deserve to die.

She is a little too nice and it’s sad that nice girls finish last in this series. Her mate has to die and he should’ve died in this book as really with how short these books are they is not enough time to properly deal with the other issues.

It does look like she is going to hook back up with Alec- she deserves better he betrayed her for money that he didn’t need for a spell that doesn’t work and he actually believes he was helping her.

I already bought the next book so I will finish the story but- disappointed in the hero and the poor heroine never had a chance to shine.

Train wreck

Seriously, this FMC is weak! Weak. Weak. Weak. Weak. No actual relationship development between main characters or actual character growth or depth to this story. Everything that was written on "pick any page" is completely contradicted about 2 pages later. Anything important that might move the plot along is all secrets and "I can't tell you" hype (this is practically everyone interacting with the FMC at some point in the story about something). Then 2 pages later they tell you. There is no reasoning behind reasons for actions/character choices, that really screw over the FMC. Then she's all, "I will get even! I will kill them!" Nope. She's all bark, absolutely no bite, and just ridiculous. The writing is one dimensional. The dialogue felt like a 14 yr old wrote it. Ug. No more.

I thought book one was great, but the follow up is even better. Once again Alexis Calder writes an action packed, intense story. It starts right where book 1 left off with Lola prisoner to her estranged mate. From that moment it takes off with so many twists and turns of the plot, you just cannot put it down.
Lola is on the run again, but gets help from an unexpected ally. Alec and friends are back and by her side, though she is reluctant to trust Alec again. their relationship is full of angst and does get quite steamy at points.
I enjoyed the way this author's books take you on the journey with her characters. You feel as though you are right in the story. It is hard to say more without giving away some major plot twists and do not want to spoil the surprises.
I very highly recommend reading this book, after book 1 of course.

Fabulous read!

This story is awesome and sad at the same time... Meaning how poorly Lola is treated by her old pack.

This book picks up right where the 1st ended with Lola back in the clutches of her old pack after being sold off by Alec. Thankfully after discovering she carries the Alpha mark, one of her former pack changes sides and rescues her.

This story is about her trying to break the mate bonds as well as her family bond since she found out who her father is .. GASP!!!

Personally I think Alec has been doing his best to atone for what he did and I really don't understand how the mate bond bonded her with an abusive a-hole instead of someone like Alec.

Overall it's a great story and I'm excited to see what happens next!!!

I received an ARC for my honest review.

Wolf Untamed is a solid read with smooth story progression. The story picks up where book one leaves off, and the reader witnesses the heroine's (Lola) journey to find her place. They are some elements to the story that are cringe-worthy. Still, these elements help readers to under the heroine's personality better. The male lead and the secondary males fulfill their purpose in the story (meaning the bad-guys desire immediate death, and the good guys exist only in grey areas). One drawback to reading book two is that there were typos and some sentences had to be read twice. The second drawback was the bland, generic name of one of the elements in the tale, but at least the name let you know the item was bad.

When our fmc tries to do the right thing and stop the wrongs that her pack is committing she gets caught and discovers a whole bunch of truths that have been hidden for years. This book picks up pretty much right after the first ends. We get to find out more about the shifter world that our characters live in and their motivations for doing what they do. Our fmc does not know who to trust or why she should trust them.

An excellent follow up to the first book. A must read for all shifter lovers out there.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was beyond excited for the release of this novella as I fell in love with the main character and totally craved the potential romance between the MC and her love interest. Not to mention, the cliffhanger from book 1 was enough to bring me to my knees so I was anxiously awaiting this release. While this book held my attention, I feel like I'm left with so many questions. It was full of action and had a couple of well-written steamy scenes, but I was left wanting more. Overall, this is an entertaining read, especially if you've read the first book in the series, but I can't help feeling like I needed more answers instead of more layers of unanswered questions.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, as this is the second book in this series.

It was good, but lack something from the first. I was hoping for hell fire in this book, but got, I dunno, a light cold rain I guess.

The plots was fast, but there was lots of errors. Mixing up names, and at times the action wasn't well described. This book felt rushed, and I believe it should have gone threw a few more edits.

Overall, I did like the ending, it was unique, fun and I will be reading the next book. The ending was good. Really good. Makes me wonder if the author was rushing to get to the ending scenes. I do hope the last book is well edited and closed out this series without main questions left unanswered.

Happy Reading

so many emotions

I had so much anger reading this book not forgiving Alec. I know there was some explanation but I felt like he wasn’t ever REALLY sorry for giving up Lola & especially since they beat and drugged her and almost forced the mating bond….. so I had some hostility there but towards the end of the book it started taking a better turn.
I just don’t know how Alec didn’t realize all the abuse Lola had suffered in that pack before or after he gave her up.
Onto book 3! I really like this plot line & love how these friends are now family!

I really enjoyed the first book, but in Wolf Untamed Alexis Calder really outdid herself. This book is pacey, offering unexpected twists and with great character development. If you like your heroine full of spirit and your hero a little flawed then this may be right up your street.
Wolf Untamed jumps right back into the Moon Cursed universe. Still struggling with her inner self, her old pack and her new friends, Lola has some serious obstacles to overcome. Her feisty approach and sarcastic, sassy self are out in full force!

After Alec's betrayal, Lola realizes she can only rely on herself. She tries to get away but it doesn't work. Lola also realizes the bond is getting stronger. Lola is rescued by others she didn't think she would trust. Lola will find out about her past. She has made decisions about her future but she isn't sure she will be able to do.

This book will drag you into the story. There some major twists and turns. You will learn more about Lola and her pack. I recommend reading this series.

Definitely enjoyed this book more than the first as it had a bit more depth! In an ideal world it would be a 3.5 star review as not quite a 4 but definitely better than the first book which I gave a 3. The characters all grow which makes the story more likeable, there’s a less dramatic but still intriguing ending, some redemption arcs that are believable, overall an enjoyable book. Just wish the main character had a bit more oomph to her
