I’m really not a huge fan of sequels that tell the exact same story as the first story, but through the Hero’s eyes instead of the heroines. That’s exactly what the first 50% of this story was, with a few interesting tidbits about the Hero’s evil bitch mother, and some insight to his selfish, hateful, shallow Ex as well.

The story really picked up after the half way mark. Lots of manipulative, judgy, hateful, asshole characters, as well as twists and turns. I was even a little impressed at how the author was able to (almost) redeem a couple of the most horrible characters in this story by the ending and the extra chapter after the ending.

I liked this story, despite the first half of this second story mostly being a retelling of the first. The drama caused by all the other awful characters in the second half kept me glued to the ending.

I loved the first book and have been anxiously awaiting Resisting Her. While the story was well plotted and I enjoyed reading about the beginning of Arianna and Orlando's relationship from his point of view, I wasn't expecting to spend the first half of the book basically rereading Moving on from Him. It was a good refresher as it's been awhile since I read the first book, but would have been repetitive had I gone straight from the first to second books. The second half of the book was an unexpected and engaging continuation of their relationship, as well as, more details about Alana, Brian and the parents.

My biggest complaint was the editing. I didn't find many words misspelled, but grammatically. . . . Well, it was really annoying how many times there were extra words in a sentence or the word order in the sentence was incorrect (or at least not written with American English sentence structure, euphemisms and/or slang. It really distracted from the storyline playing out. It's a sign of the strength of the story that I decided to give a four star rating over the three star I'd typically give a book that needed as much grammatical clean up.

*Mild spoilers*

'Resisting Her' is a story about deception, love, innocence, forgiveness and moving on. The book starts immediately after the events of 'Getting Over Him' and we get an insight into Orlando's life and his thoughts about his past.

In 'Getting Over Him', we know he's badly burned but 'Resisting Her' shows that his cracks were actually a deep abyss. His ex tore him apart, crushed his ego to smithereens and discarded him like yesterday's waste. It left cracks in his self confidence which weren't filled until Arianna came with an industrial grade shovel. The confident man who would do anything for his loved ones and could take on the world, went to bed every night falling deeper into the abyss, unable to escape it.

His heart wants to take a chance but his insecurities push him into *resisting her*. He wants to stay away from women, all women. But she wasn't "all women", she was his Arianna, the woman whose soul could light up the four chambers of his heart. His emotions are portrayed with much nuance.

Arianna is a wild seductress. Still reeling from the effects of her breakup, she finds herself in the arms of Orlando. And Arianna is exactly what he needs, the answer to his self doubts. She understands him more than others because she's been in his shoes. Orlando's Olaf knew Arianna was the one worth melting for.

The plot moves fast after the flashback. Orlando is in for a surprise that sends him down a memory lane and tests both him and Arianna. Things of the past catch up with them and wreak havoc. The truth about Brian, Alana and her parents is finally out. We get the comeuppance that we've all been waiting for since 'Getting Over Him', I loved the explosive reveal.

The bonus chapter was an emotional one. Alana, after her fall from grace, gets help from people she least expected. Her path to redemption has been a tough one but she manages to overcome her problems. I liked her personal growth.

The secondary characters are nice. The relationship between Arianna and her friends, especially with Mike and Aunt Gaby is really heart warming. I hope there is a spin off for Dean and Sandra, their story has great potential.

I feel that Orlando's POVs could've been included in the first book itself because the flashback chapters focused more about his emotions and a bit about his mother and ex, but it was very slow paced. This was dragged for more than half the book.

But the second half makes up for the first, this is where the real action happens. I wish the plot with Isabela's court case was written in depth because the story was built up from the beginning but it was just glanced over in the epilogue. Orlando's ex and her fiance were also introduced but there was no closure about them.

There are grammatical errors like some words are repeated and names are switched but that can be corrected in the future editions.

Catherine is an amazing writer, I religiously follow her stories on various reading platforms. I had very high expectations from her, but the 'Moving On' Duology falls short in showing her writing prowess. So overall I would rate this book 4/5.

Wow, Wow, Wow. I so was looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint.

First, this is a stand alone and you will enjoy seeing just how sowing and reaping works. However, to really, really feel and see why karma is so eloquent, reading the first book in this duology is highly recommended.

If you think this will be a simple romance where the victim gets her man, then think again. There is nothing simple about this complexity of plots that twist and turn your psyche as you read. Too many second chance books build some angst with drama and turmoil but never let us see true karma. Here we not only see how and why many of the characters reap what they sowed, but get to feel like we are right in the room with them as it builds and then crescendos . It’s not a fast skim over but a complex cast of characters that fall one by one. Some see their wrong and others ignore it and simply justify it … until they are forced to face the consequences.

BUT…. this book also is all about true love and healed broken hearts. We get to see and feel how fragile love is and how tortured the heart can be when betrayed. Once again, we feel like we’re in the room watching the healing take place, step by step. We experience their pain and they learn to trust again. We commiserate with their tears, and smile at their moments of joy as healing begins and moves forward. And last, but not least, there is forgiveness and redemption…. not for all, but for those who seek it, who want it.

The Moving On Duology ... each is a stand alone book, but reading them both will open your eyes and your heart.

⚖️⚖️ONE PHENOMENAL TREAT⚖️⚖️
Spectacular! Catherine tucks another feather in her cap with this stellar delight, nailing all the spills, chills and deception, rocking the fiascos and lowering the boom, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. A raging tempest chocked-full of treacherous trials and challenging tribulations, noting the shocking twists and thrilling turns, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they would have never imagined. Lines blurred and boundaries crossed, limitations are amplified and exploited, laying out all the fervent facts, feels and shenanigans, kicking this gem into the eye of the storm, blasting it into a frenzy with a life changing realization. Countenance and dynamics in layer upon layer that you peel back with each page your drawn into this web so deep until everything else ceases to exist. The characters, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with qualities and traits that add depth and diversity, transforming into genuine charismatic personalities. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels like you can just reach out and touch it. Fantastic job Catherine, thanks for sharing the little jewel with us.

A wild ride!

Wow, the betrayal in this book is so prominent that I felt the pain myself! This book was full of twists and turns and so many emotions that bled from each page. I read the first book and then this one and I have two reasons for giving it 4 stars. The first is because there were a lot of typos and grammar errors that took away from the reading experience for me, but it can be easily fixed with a good editor. The second would be that for the first half it was the same book as the first book just from the male perspective. I love that idea but I feel his perspective would have been better if it was intertwined with her perspective from the start. The book dragged a little bit because I felt like I had already read it. Overall, great story and interesting read! I cheered out loud when the antagonist got what she deserved, but also felt bad at the same time because of her own struggles. It all made sense and I loved how the main characters eventually showed the love and support to help with the antagonist’s addictions to help her heal - as true family and friends should!

The sequel to 'Getting Over Him'. This time, the story is from Orlando's perspective. We get a look at his take on what was going on in his life before the events of 'Getting Over Him', during and after (a continuation of where the first book left off).

There are a couple of reasons that prevented me from giving the story 5 stars. One was that the story jumped too often between the past and present. Sometimes without warning and at one point it got so confusing that I had to reread some of the chapters to understand what was going on and where the flashback started and ended. The other reason is the same as the reason I gave 'Getting Over Him' 4 instead of 5 stars. Both books are too dependent on each other and should've been one book split into two parts instead of two separate books.

Other than that, in my opinion, this book is better than the first and I must've reread it now at least fifty times. It is heartwarming and gets you so emotionally-invested that you wish you were in the book just to teach a few characters a lesson or two. Definitely a holiday read and since I'm going on holiday this year, I think I'll just read this book again!

I’m wowed again! These books were crazy and amazing. Orlando took front and center at the beginning of this book and I loved it. We replay what happened in the first story but from his perspective, something I was yearning for in the first one. I kept wanting to know what he was thinking and why he made the choices he did. Then we move further on, we see Arianna’s perspective, Brian and even Alana’s perspective. We watch as the attacks come and how Orlando will let no one hurt his girl. It’s beautiful and beyond sweet. We get to see the evil ones fall, their lies crumbling around them and the rug pulled from under their feet. Their grievances are aired for all the world to see. The we get to see redemption. It takes an amazing author to turn characters around. This was so worth it. Fantastic read and series!

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

I loved this book when I first read it. I read both Resisting Her and also Getting Over Him (If you have not read this one you totally should It is the first part of this story and has Arianna's POV - Orlando's love). I loved how this book had Olando's POV. I loved that because I was finally able to see into the man that Orlando is and able to see and experience his thoughts and feelings of while discovering his love for Arianna. It was one of the sweetest books I have ever had the pleasure of reading!

I was so looking forward to reading RESISTING HER but I didn't realize what it would do to me. I always say that a good story has you believing and feeling the characters as though they are an extension of you or a really close friend. This one delivered better than I can even explain.

Our leads deal with more ups and downs than every elevator in the most popular cities x3. The downs more though but the highs are as beautiful as the images from them tall skyscrapers. I loved this book. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

Fabulous book 2!!

This is book 2 in a duology (it can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading both books in order) and boy was it worth the wait. Book 1 focuses on Arianna and has her telling the story. This book focuses on Orlando and here we see how he feels about their relationship, from the beginning and follows all the way to the sweet end. These two do get their HEA and it is so well deserved!

Resisting Her

This was written in his perspective. I enjoyed this book as well. Here you get to understand what he went through. Both his mother and first lover messed with his mind. But as you read you understand just what he is willing to do for her. This was a great happy ending for the lead characters. And love that there was closure.
