Walker Rhodes has never been the typical rock star—one who is happy with meaningless hookups. That’s because he’s been hiding a secret from his bandmates for years.
Sadie Emerson knew it was risky to open her heart to Walker, but the man was too hard to resist. And now that she’s fallen in love with Walker, all Sadie wants is to be closer to him.
But there’s one small problem. Beck.
Neither Sadie nor Walker have shared the truth of their relationship with her brother. Beck has always been protective of his little sister, so it’s only natural for them to fear his reaction.
The pair refuse to give one another up, but they’re both worried that when Beck finds out, Walker will have to choose between the woman he loves and the band he calls his family.
A.K. Evans is a contemporary romance author of over twenty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.
Before becoming a writer, Andrea did a brief stint in the insurance and financial services industry and managed her husband’s performance automotive business. That love of extreme sports? She used to drive race cars!
When Andrea isn’t writing, she can be found homeschooling her two sons, doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, or traveling with her family. She and her husband are currently taking road trips throughout the country to visit all 50 states with their boys.
Walker and Sadie’s story dealt with a huge dilemma, that held for eight whole years! I was bemused by their actions and decisions, despite that I could comprehend both characters’ concerns. Tbh, keeping secret their relationship for sooo long wasn’t that exciting…
I was looking forward to this book because there has been some mystery and misdirection surrounding Walker Rhodes. Finally, we find out one of the best-kept secrets in Rock and Roll.
For close to a decade, the secret stays hidden behind bad timing and circumstances. The results are lies and sneaking around. Will someone be hurt in the end?
Closer is the third book in a series that is just getting better with each book. Holland is next. I am excited to read her story.
Thank you to the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH ONE OF A VARIETY OF SOURCES. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
So far, I've enjoyed this series, so I was really looking forward to reading this one. Unfortunately, by the end of it, I was a little disappointed, even though it was a very well written book!
My problem with the book comes from my personal past coloring my reaction to the book. Deceit in any form is a problem for me, one I struggle with when it comes to the Forbidden/Taboo Romance Trope. I hadn't read much in advance of the book, so I was pretty in the dark when it came to the main characters or the plot premise. When it was first starting out, I thought it was a Best Friend's Sister/Virgin Romance, and I was enjoying it, but things shifted on me unexpectedly, and I was caught unawares of it. The shift put a bit of a damper on my enjoyment of the romance story, sadly, because it involved deceit, but once I set that part aside and resumed looking at it like a Best Friend's Sister/Virgin Romance, I was able to finish the book.
I absolutely loved Sadie's thoughtful nature throughout the story! Walker's faithfulness was also another delightful surprise to the story! The fact that they came together as a couple made them my favorite couple of the series so far! I loved seeing how they ended up in the epilogue as well!
All things considered, I would definitely recommend this read!
Oh, this one ripped me apart before patching me back together. Walker and Sadie have so much between them, so much history, and one big secret. So what happened when that secret is tired of being kept? When someone is tired of living the secret, hiding the secret, having the secret, BEING the secret? Do we get the HEA or disaster? Or maybe a little of both?
This story threw me for a few loops, and I loved it even more for each one. The love. The misery. The pain. It all made for a tale that absolutely needed to be told. And if that means that some get angry and threaten all that makes everyone in this band and family feel the tension for a while, so be it. Sadie and Walker both deserved more, and it was beyond time that they both decide to grab it with both hands and pull their love into the light for all to see. Sure, there was some chaos. And maybe a fight or two. But also so much to lose if everyone involved doesn’t stop to breathe for a second. The torment in both Walker and Sadie had me breathless a few times and had me wanting to cry a few others. But it was all worth the pain in the end, so get ready for one heck of a ride.
Blown Away by Walker and Sadie’s Story It’s no secret that I am a rather vocal admirer of romance writer A.K. Evans’s work. I’ve read everything as quickly as I could get my hands on them, and I am an unapologetic fangirl where her work is concerned. With that said, I knew I’d enjoy “Closer,” Book 3 in the Rock Stars & Romance series. I just wasn’t prepared for the way it so profoundly affected me! Walker is the gorgeous, talented drummer of My Violent Heart, one of the hottest bands in the country. He’s a commanding presence, a gentle soul, and he only has eyes for his best friend’s baby sister. Sadie is a stunning young woman, a loyal and giving friend, and a gifted painter who has loved Walker for half of her life. Their journey is an emotional tale that is as sweet as it is steamy, and Evans takes such care in creating relatable, believable, wonderful characters that we just can’t get enough of. She has a way of creating these perfectly imperfect families of people who choose to form a tribe that just might be stronger than many blood families could ever hope to be, and she weaves couples from earlier in the series into the new installments in a way that just seems natural. This story was so beautifully done - my heart tugged, my breath caught, and I couldn’t stop the tears if I tried. I am so very much looking forward to reading about the HEAs for Holland, Killian, and Roscoe. This band grabbed me from their appearance in the Road Trip Romance lineup, and they aren’t likely to let me go. There aren't enough stars to give this one. "Closer" is honestly my favorite of Evans’s work to-date...hands down.
In A.K. Evan’s third instalment of the Roscommon Stars & Romance series, we have Walker Rhodes and Sadie Emerson. Walker is the sexy drummer for the band My Violent Heart, and Sadie is a painter and The lead singer Beck’s younger sister. Walker has known Beck since their teens so he’s known Sadie just as long. As the years goes by, Sadie’s feelings grow much deeper for Walker but he fights his for her because she’s so much younger and Beck’s sister. They become closer though when Walker gets some terrible news about his mother and Sadie is there for him. The issue of Beck finding out looms over them and their relationship is tested several times. Their story is so beautifully emotional. Will they overcome all the obstacles in their way or will Walker let Sadie go? I am enjoying this series more than I originally thought I would and I love how the characters are interwoven in each book. Im looking forward to the next book and intrigued to read Holland’s story next.
I'm a girl who prides herself on not crying for much of anything, so when an author does a number on me like A.K. Evans did to me in Closer, well, 5 stars just isn't enough for me. This is Walker & Sadie's story & it's an emotional doozie for real. Sadie has been in love with Walker for as long as she can remember, and she's not going to let anyone stop her, including Walker's best friend who's her brother. The fact that Walker & her brother are bandmates only makes it more complicated in their minds. Of course the heart wants what the heart wants so Walker is keeping a big secret when it comes to Sadie. I have to say that he got on my last nerve more than once at not having the stones to actually come clean because she deserved so much more, but you know he's human. It made more intensity for this already intense journey as I waited on that other shoe to drop, so I didn't move from the same position until every last page was devoured & then I sat in the overwhelming emotions that were dragged out of me for a cool minute so you seriously don't want to pass on Closer (or any of this series for that matter) as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Oh my goodness, Adrean has delivered an intensely emotional and heartwrenching story for Walker and Sadie. I feel so much for these two but it was also frustrating for me, the fact that they have to keep their relationship a secret for so long. But also because they were a lot of things that caused them to do so. But just for how long can they keep it a secret? This is another great addition to the series.
Walker intrigued me in the first two novels and at the ending of Wish, he grabbed my full attention. What was he up to? Why was he so emotional?
Walker, the drummer for My Violent Heart, is a mysterious man. His life had been fantastic, playing, touring and living the life, but was he really happy? He met Beck, as a teenager, and was taken in by the guys in the band. With the band so close, they got to be just as close to their family members, and this is where Sadie, Beck's little sister, walks in. He is drawn to her but this didn't happen until his mother was diagnosed with cancer. She offered to be a friend if he needed anyone to talk with or be a distraction. Walker decided that he was not going to take her up on her offer because she was Beck's sister. He changes his mind and they become good friends however, that friendship grew. But at what expense? What happens when lines get crossed? When tragedy strikes, how will he deal with his relationship with Sadie? Will they be able to tell Beck about it?
Sadie has loved Walker since she was a teenager. She never let him know because of the age gap and the fact that her brother would not approve. When Walker's mother was diagnosed with cancer, she reached out to comfort him. She always hoped that he would see her as a woman and not Beck's little sister. When she got the call from him is when things started to change. She loved him and over time he felt the same way but what about Beck? What would happen to the band if they found out about her and Walker? Can they live a lie or will their secret need to come out?
A.K. always delivers a gripping and emotional story that you are unable to put down. She writes with such detail and emotion that has your heart hurting and a few tears flowing. I was unable to put this book down. I highly recommend adding it to your TBR list. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series, as each book is better than the last one.
The third book from A.K Evans Rock Stars & Romance series brings readers the story of My Violent Heart’s drummer Walker Rhodes and Sadie Emmerson, Walker’s best friend and fellow bandmates' little sister.
Sadie’s crushed on Walker since she was 15yrs old, and despite being her brother's bandmate she’d never met him before, but a welcome home party for the band having finished their most recent tour sees her finally meet the man she’d been admiring from afar. It looks like the feeling’s mutual as Walker is completely captivated by his best friend’s baby sister, who he soon discovers is a loving and loyal, gifted painter, a beautiful young woman who has loved him for the past 5 years. Circumstances in Walker's life see him seek comfort in Sadie, comfort she’s more than willing to provide. As the pair grow closer they mutually decide that Beck needs to know about their blossoming relationship, however just when they’re about to confide their feelings to him, Walker suffers a great loss in his personal life, and after that it’s one thing or another which sees them keep their relationship a secret from others, with only Walker’s father and brother knowing about them. Years pass, and I mean years with the pair remaining in a secret relationship, but what may have been exciting in the beginning has started to put a strain on their relationship, with Sadie wanting more, it’s not that Walker doesn’t want more too, it’s just that keeping it a secret has become the norm and he really doesn’t want to cause any animosity for the rest of the band members by going head to head with Beck over keeping the relationship with his sister a secret, any especially for so long. Will Walker stand up and fight for the woman who’s grown to mean so much to him, or will he let her walk away?
Walker and Sadie’s is an emotional journey, one you don’t want to miss. Evans has gifted us readers with a beautifully written story which tugged at the heartstrings, joining a host of fantastic characters together, weaving couples from the previous books into the storyline effortlessly and paving the way for future characters to have their moment in the spotlight.
Walker Rhodes has never acted like the typical rockstar with a different groupie every night. But, that;’s because he’s been keeping one heck of a secret from his bandmates and the world for the past eight years. He’s been dating his bandmate and best friend's little sister!
Sadie Emerson has had a crush on Walker since she was 15 years old. When she finally got the chance to get to know him and be friends at 20, she couldn’t stop herself from falling in love and supporting him through one of the toughest moments of his life.
Something always seems to stop Walker and Sadie from sharing their secret to the band and her over protective big brother, Beck. But, eight years of secrets and not being able to be close to Walker in public has Sadie at her breaking point. When the truth comes out, will Walker be able to keep both his love for music and for Sadie alive or will he be forced to make a decision that force him to choose between the woman he loves or the band that has become his family?
Readers should be prepared to delve deep into a romance with more angst that you can imagine. While Walker and Sadie’s romance starts as friendship and grows quickly to so much more, it is a devastating personal event that has him turning to Sadie’s friendship for comfort . . . and the punches keep rolling at them all while they have to pretend in front of everyone they care about that they are nothing more than acquaintances so they don’t rock the boat with the band.
This couple is very sweet while having great chemistry, but the plot did feel like it moved slowly at times . . . because . . .8 years. I wish the time line had been more accelerated so we could see more of the present, as the build up was mostly flashback in this book. Once we did get to the present day, I was pretty satisfied with how things played out and I’m looking forward to Holland’s story which is up next! 4 stars.
Yet another fantastic story in this rockstar series. I have always liked to read brothers' best friend romances and I certainly wasn't disappointed with this one. I was just surprised that, that was the secret that Walker was hiding. He was in love with his best friend's little sister Sadie.
This story spans almost a decade and it's a decade of lies, deceit, and sneaking around. It's not all bad. Circumstances and events are what make things impossible to let the truth out. That and the fact that Beck will lose his mind. This is a beautiful story, one that I think is forgotten in the drama of the lie. Walker and Sadie are a beautiful couple and I just think they spend far too long worried about other people's opinions and feelings.
This is a great book that adds so much to this series. I totally recommend this book and series. One that builds with every book that gets released.
Oh my! These men of AK Evans Rockstars and Romance series just keep getting better. I thought Beck was a dream of a rockstar romance lead until I met Walker in this book. So there was the whole 8 year secret romance thing going against him. But in all other ways he was perfection. His romance with with Sadie is just everything. They just fit in every which way. These two seem to intuitively know each others needs and work as such a swoonworthy team.
I adored Walker's devotion and his support of Sadie. And Sadie matures and grows up through the story. The conflict she feels at keeping their relationship secret and being held back from a normal life together escalates through the story. At no point do you doubt their feelings. It is just the longevity of the secret that becomes their obstacle. But these two deserve their happiness. They are too darn cute together to waste too much time apart.
This is an adorable (and steamy!) rockstar romance with a secret relationship (bandmates little sister). This is another absolutely brilliant installment in the series. Honestly, these guys are just too much. I adore how deeply they fall and the lengths they will go to t0 love and be loved by their leading ladies.
The power of secrets: Wow, another emotionally powerful book. As with all her works, this talented author took romance, passion, emotion and drama and combined them to create a story that touches your heart and stays with you for a long time afterwards. It did a good job exploring secret, forbidden love and the consequences that come with this. Personally I have never gotten why a relationship with a friend's sister is so forbidden and whilst there was a 5 year age gap, that hardly seemed significant once they were older and adults. However it was still enjoyable seeing Walker and Sadie navigate the choppy waters and you could totally feel their strong connection. I did however find myself getting rather annoyed with Walker for his continual reluctance to come clean about his relationship. Overall this was another great addition to what is turning out to be an exciting and interesting series. A little sad at times but it felt real and there were enough joyous moments to compensate for this. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
When I read a preview for this book I knew Walker Rhodes was going to steal your heart. When Sadie first saw Walker she never thought that it would ever be more than a crush. She thought that would be enough. She never expected for Walker to feel the same way. Walker knows there is something special about Sadie but there is one major obstacle: Beck- Sadie's brother. Is Walker willing to risk everything to be with Sadie? I don't want to give much away because this book is so worth the read. Walker and Sadie have to really think about what they want in life and love and what the consequences could be if they didn't work out. How long it too long to be in the shadows? Have Walker and Sadie reached the point of no return? Luckily AK Evans knows how to write a fantastic story that will pull at your heart strings. I think this book is my favorite in the rock stars and romance series I can't wait to read what's in store next for My Violent Heart. I love reading this series because in the end you feel satisfied with how they got to that point. This book is a bit of a slow burn romance but so worth it. A+.
☆☆☆☆☆ Closer was an incredible read! I am falling deeper and deeper into this series and the characters within. This one really pulled at my heartstrings because I related quite a bit. This best friend’s sister, rockstar romance trope revolved around Walker Rhodes and Sadie Emerson. Walker is the drummer for The Violet Hearts and ended up being a sensitive soul and a mystery in the first two books. Sadie is Beck's little sister and she has loved Walker for years. When his mother gets sick, she reaches out and he starts to forget all the reasons he has tried to stay away. These two giving in and letting love live was such a beautiful experience. What will happen when Beck finds out? Will he make Walker choose or will he see that Walker & Sadie are made for each other? I love this series so much and easily obsessed over this particular story. I was engaged completely from beginning to end. This series or band is so different from other rockstar series I’ve read and I deeply appreciate every taste we get. Three more books to go and I can’t wait. This is my honest opinion, freely given.
A 5*+ Read ********** My heart will never be quite the same again. Closer reached out and not only opened up an emotional side I didn't even know I had it has embedded itself into my soul to remain there forever. This romance journey will enthral you, dazzle you, make you smile and make you cry, Closer is just a unique swoon-worthy read.
Walker and Sadie's story is told over 8 emotionally deep-rooted years. From the moment Sadie turned 20 and caught the eye of 25-year-old Walker, drummer and best-friend to her brother Beckett their lives were now going to be the same, for 8 years they kept their love a secret, but like an hourglass, time is running out and changes need to be made, but at what cost?
A.K Evans set's out perfectly Walker and Sadies story, it was such an engrossing page-turner that I was torn between never wanting it to end and in other ways wanting them to have their HEA. The journey isn't always easy, but as with all the stories in the Rock Stars & Romance series, it is delivered with supremacy.
My violent heart Was discussing going on tour again and Walker, their drummer was stressed and told the band they should take a year off. The guys were shocked but they also had no idea what was going on with Walker. At first they all thought he was having a secret affair with Holland, their lead singer. He wasn’t, but it was just as bad. In walks Beck’s little sister to torture Walker’s life. Sadie had her cap set on him before she even met him in person and when she did meet him, it was game on. She went after “her man” with single minded precision that a four star general would have envied. They were adorable together, their chemistry was off the charts and when they got together I thought my kindle was going to explode. This book has me ugly crying for so many reasons, it’s just beautiful. The ending was fabulous, I love a happy ending and this one didn’t disappoint. I loved this book and I’m giving it five stars and highly recommending it.
In Closer, A.K. Evans gives her readers a slow burn opposite of rock an roll manwhore read. Instead of hiding all of the women he's sleeping with, this rocker is hiding the fact that he's a one woman man from the rest of his band mates.
I was a fan of Walker, as well as Sadie, however not of them together and I'm not sure why. Like them, maybe the hiding thing took a toll on me as well. I'm a fan angst, but this was something else. Drama where there didn't need to be any and the fact that it was hidden for so long, was hard to get on board with. That said, I still enjoyed the story and getting the learn more about the bandmates and friends.
Closer is well written and was still a good read for me. I do like interconnected series and small town reads, so this fit the bill perfectly and sets up another bandmates story nicely. Holland is next and she seems like and interesting read.
Yet another fantastic story in this rockstar series. I have always liked to read brothers bestfriend romances and I certainly wasn't disappointed with this one.. I was just surprised that, that was the secret that Walker was hiding. He was in love with his bestfriends little sister Sadie.

This is a great book that adds so much to this series. I totally recommend this book and series. One that builds with every book that gets released.
After the way Wish ended, I have been on pins and needles waiting to read Walker’s story. What we get is love that is so deep but has had so much time pass with so many tragic moments that stop both Walker and Sadie at a loss for how to finally break the news. The connection that these two have is undeniable. It is raw, passionate and honestly, they are each other's soulmates. My heart ached for both of them because with how much time has passed, the repercussions could be devastating. But they fight for their love more than anything. The whole concept of this story really hits you hard with the feels. How things get so twisted, why the band thought Walker and Holland were a thing, to Walker being willing to give up the one thing that he loved as much as he did Sadie. This story has so many emotions that flow through the pages and the reasonings behind some of them will utterly gut you. I am so in love with this series and I am dying to get my hands on Holland’s story now!
Thank you Give me book promotion and AK Evans for my review copy.
After Wish, I was surprised to get closer in my inbox but in the end I was happy because I got to read a sweet romance and happy because Walker and Sadie got a happy ending. Walker is put in a tight spot when he realises that he may be forced to choose between the woman he loves and the passion he loves. Could it be possible to keep them both... or will he suffer the consequences of his actions? The story goes from present to past to present. We have a big chunk of past action that slowly becomes the present from the first chapter. This way we see how Sadie and Walker came to be, how they overcome the struggle of keeping their relationship a secret and that sweet ending. I liked Walker and he was a nice guy. While I totally understand his and Sadie's position I think that they could have talked about everything earlier. The story was nice and I had a fun time reading it. Now all I have to do is wait for the next one.
This is the third book in this series by this author, these stories just keep getting better and better the more you read. This book follows the characters Walker and Sadie, these two characters have some history together and a big secret between them. This story will grip you from the first page till the very last one, you are never disappointed with this author. These books are always filled with drama, suspense and plenty of hot and steamy scenes. Another fantastic addition to this amazing series from this author.
This is the third book in this amazing series and is Walker and Sadie’s story. Walker is gentle and caring and is the talented drummer in one of the hottest bands in the country “My Violent Heat,” who he has been keeping a secret from for the past 8-years. Sadie is sweet and loving and is the younger sister of an overprotective brother Beck, who is Walkers band mate and best friend. Sadie has loved Walker for years, and she goes after what she wants. What will happen when their secret is revealed? This is a beautifully written swoon-worthy story, which pulls at the heartstrings throughout, and is an emotional roller coaster, which is sweet and profound, with secrets, heartbreak, family, torment, drama, loyalty, passion, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy riveting page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Closer gives us Walker and Sadie's story, one that has been keeping us guessing from the start. There are secrets and so much emotion that at times it leaves you breathless. This forbidden romance takes your heart on one epic journey of sweet, steamy, passionate and at times heartbreaking moments. At times Walker frustrated me with his hesitation in coming clean about his feelings and their relationship, wanting him to shout it from the rooftops to ease the stress and the drama. A story that was relatable and had a realistic feel to it, pulling you into their world with such ease. The chemistry between these two was on fire and had you feeling the heat that radiated between them. I cried like a baby at times but for all the sad there were equally beautiful moments that made all the tears worthwhile. These two get an amazing ending that leaves your heart full.
When it comes to Walker’s relationship with the other members of the band, they are more like family rather than bandmates especially when it comes to his best friend Beck. That is why keeping the relationship he has had with Beck’s sister for nearly a decade a secret is so difficult especially when he yearns to claim her as his own.
Sadie doesn’t remember a time that she hasn’t loved Walker, but she also knows that her brother wouldn’t want them to be together. Pretending that they aren’t a couple is becoming more difficult with every passing day but if all is revealed will it bring them closer or tear them apart?
Walker and Sadie have always belonged together, and they take us on an angst filled journey as they fight for their love and each other.
Closer is book 3 in the Rock Stars & Romance series and is the story of Walker; the drummer of the band, and Sadie; Walker’s band mate, Beck’s younger sister. As in book 2, the timeline of this story is set at the same time as in book 1 and 2, but not for the entire book. No, A. K. Evans has to take a back a little further with this one and Walker & Sadies story is awesome. It including longing & wanting, secrets & lies, angst & heartbreak. Throughout the entire book I rooted for Walker & Sadie to not only find their way, but to be able to do openly and without secrets. I highly recommended this book and series and I’m looking forward to Holland’s book - thank God I don’t have to wait too long!
Walker and Sadie's story comes close to home for me and what could be called a modern day Romeo and Juliet. In love with each other since childhood, they find themselves keeping it a secret knowing that if found out, it could tear their family apart. I felt Sadie was a saint for keeping their secret from her brother knowing it could cause a fallout with the band. The writing was superb, making the reader feel the exact emotions they were going through. My heart tore a little for Sadie throughout the book. This one will grab your attention from page one until the end when they finally get their HEA.
There were many, many reasons why Walker & Sadie couldn't tell their friends & family about their relationship. Were any of them really good reasons? I don't think so but I liked the book anyway. I liked the way they dealt with Walker's issues with his mom & dad. I liked Sadie's understanding of Walker's need to follow his mother's wishes. But the whole thing about the band just didn't cut it for me. Having read Beck's story I couldn't see him turning on Walker & especially Sadie. I can see the anger but not enough to make Walker & Sadie wait 8 years to tell him. I understand Sadie's frustration but then there wouldn't have been an enjoyable book.

I received an ARC in return for an honest review of Closer.
Walker and Sadie have been secretly dating and in love for 8 years. It’s a secret because she’s Walker’s bandmate, Beck’s, little sister. So many life obstacles have prevented them from revealing their relationship. If they tell everyone, Walker worries, will he have to choose between the woman he loves or the band? All Sadie wants is to have their relationship in the open and be closer to Walker. Can they both have everything they want? Or will there be choices for both of them to make regarding their relationship?
