Naughty girls need love too. Piper is a retired stripper. She got into the biz, like so many women, for the money, but she truly enjoyed it. She recently graduated and is currently working at a veterinary clinic, but only to get the experience so she can look for something better (AKA make more money.) After a mishap at the airport, she meets widowed single dad Scott. He's kind, good hearted, and is a good father to his son, even if he has to travel out of state for work, more than he is home. Things are moving along quickly between the two, and she's starting to look into the future with him... that is until things start to change. This is book 1 of a 3 book series, and it does end with a cliffhanger, but each book is just over 100 pages, so they can be read quickly. There are things that happen throughout the book, that gives you reasons to be suspicious of one thing or another. (Some you may have predicted correctly, others, maybe not, and some you just have to wait until the next book to find the truth.) The book is written from her POV, so we get more insight into her character (and thoughts.) He is more of a mystery. Most of the stuff we learn about him, is just the surface stuff. There are a few other side characters who bring some added laughs. This book is more about the romance (and just getting to know the characters,) but it ends with some suspense. There is some sexual content, but that is more like an afterthought to the plot itself. Not taking up too much of the story.
I skimmed the entire book and found not one thing interesting enough to keep me reading. I’m sure lots of others think this book is Wonderful. Don’t let this one bad review keep you from something you might enjoy. That’s the beauty of art. To each is own. The cover is bangin’ and the summary was well done. 1 star for the cover and blurb.
This book was kind of all over the place… way too much going on. The writing felt almost juvenile in a way. I loved the cover and really wanted to love the book but I just couldn’t.
I absolutely loved this book! I had such a hard time putting it down. This is not really a spicy book but it is one of the best mystery books I’ve read in a long time. This book is in 3rd person so keep that in mind if you’re thinking of reading this series. One thing I love about this book…about this author really…is how fleshed out all the characters are. I love all of them (except one in particular) and even he is well written in the “oooh I hope he gets his just desserts” kind of way. I actually related to Piper more than I thought I would and I decided we all need a best friend like Lish. I was immediately hooked only a few pages in. Run..don’t walk to add this to your TBR/wishlist.
Piper trusts is to easily given. Too many times she has bailed Scott out. Scott has some secrets. I was rooting for them until Desmond moved it. Lush was right all along. Let’s go Book 2
This review is for the 3 books in the series. I won't be giving away hints or spoilers. I think the author has some crazy ideas in her head and most of them have ended up in these 3 books; they contain everything bar the kitchen sink. The story line is a bit hectic and the characters are ok, but there is a lot there that doesn't need to be there, so found myself skimming some parts of the books. I would have loved to give them more than 2 stars but the ending disappointed me. Had I have paid for these books I think I would have stopped at book 1 and not cared what happened to any of the characters, but I stayed with them hoping for a big bang at the end when all I got was a little pop! In fact the little pop was what I felt all the way through. The author builds you up with the promise of some good angst to come, but then leaves you flat by not delivering the goods. I can only describe it as seeing a hand coming towards you ready to slap, then that said hand pulls out a feather and strokes you with it. You feel the feather and don't want the slap, yet you've tensed in readiness for pain but enjoyed the stroke of the feather! Weird!! Anyway, see what other people think as I believe these could have been amazing, they just weren't.
OMG!!! I can already tell it is about to go DOWN!! Piper is a stripper....for now, she promised her aunt that she would put her degree to good use and in a week she'll be doing just that.
She has a meet cute with this guy at the airport, he sort of saves her on an escalator (awww) Scott is handsome and smart, he has an important IT job that keeps him traveling and gone most of the month still they have major chemistry so when he is in town they start to get to know one another plus he's recently a widow and a single dad to his adorable son....
Piper wasn't looking for love but sometimes it just finds you and they both fall head over heels....or at least she has but that can't be Scott she just saw holding hands with another woman.....right???
This was a great read. A woman who almost has an embarrassing moment in the airport, is saved by her knight in shining armor. Or at least she thinks he’s that. As the story unfolds, it’s clear that there is more to this man than what’s being presented, but Piper is “sticking beside her man.” He starts to show dangerous behaviors and it seems like he’s been lying about his financial status. The cliffhanger at the end is what I expected all along, but I do want to finish this series. I enjoyed Break Him by this author, so I intend to read all her catalog.
I had to DNF this book. I made it to the end of chapter 4 and about 2 pages into chapter 5 before I had to stop reading. It was completely all over the place, the character made no sense as to what she actually was (is she a retired stripper or is she retiring) it honestly felt like a fever dream. Aside from the actual story being riddled with plot holes galore, the grammar in it just made it so hard to read.
It highlights so many issues, insecurities and life’s challenges that many face.
Piper reminds me of me, in that she is too trusting and always mostly sees the good in people, even when they show you their bad.
The build up to events in the story is a little abrupt (the chocking scene came out of nowhere) but I guess that’s how piper must have felt. However, I did still enjoy reading this book and can’t wait to start book 2!
Piper is a dreamer and go-getter, a younger woman who knows what she wants. She understands her past and knows what it takes to secure her future or does she... A chance meeting with so-called Mr Right or is it Mr Mystere? Love this first of 3, headed into the 2nd.
This is the first book of a 3 book series and it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Very interesting storyline as well. Shows the real world struggles of the main character Piper. She’s a stripper who put her way through Vet school and is now trying to get out of stripping. What will happen next?
Great start to this trilogy, have had this in my TBR for a while and simply had to get into it today, loving where this is going, I am a total cynic so I feel like I have already picked out the naughty people but damn, true to form, a great story by a great author
This book was pretty good. I definitely enjoyed it and knowing that it is a to be continued story I am anxiously waiting on the next part to come out next month. The storyline was pretty easy to follow and it moves very quickly.
Piper makes no apologies for who she is and what she does. Soon to be an ex stripper, she’s worked hard for her life and when she unexpectedly meets Scott, on the cusp of a change, she can’t help but feel things are looking up! He seems to be perfect but will it last
I found this book tedious and full of padding to drag out the story! I found myself getting bored .. and a good few times I had to reread pages because my mind would wander! Not the worst book I’ve ever read but certainly not the best…
It’s short and I was disappointed with the sex in it. Like very much so. It’s a cliffhanger and that’s annoying. The second installment I will say is better as the story progresses, but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say these could be one book in three parts.
Great story progression and pace. Great characters too. A lot of everyday procession of life, made entertaining and lovable. Suspense stirs and slowly builds. Cliff hanger. Triggers: strippers, enemies, danger.
Aaaahhh I can't run fast enough to book 2 . This was such a good book something most females can relate to. I swear it's easier to see red flags in someone else's relationship. I was with her best friend things seemed sketch. Hands down must read.
I really enjoyed this novella. It was very tongue in cheek and I did enjoy the characters I just wish it could have dove deeper into the relationship but other than that I really liked it. Would recommend for anyone who wants a quick read who loves a bit of hot romance
