I'm still stuck in 1910 New York, trying to solve the mystery of what happened to Dorothy Arnold and her baby.
Meanwhile the only person I have to rely on is my ghostly housemate, Drake, who is now as flesh and blood as I am, at least in this plane of existence.
I find myself not only diving more deeply into the mystery of Dorothy's disappearance, but also into the background of my French policeman when we meet his brother, Lucien. It's then I learn more about the love of Drake's life, a subject which only leaves me cold.
I’m a huge fan of anything paranormal and I always have been. I get super excited whenever they have those Twilight Zone Marathon days and anything ghost or vampire related will always attract my attention.
My interests are varied but aside from writing, I’m most excited about traveling. I’m extremely fortunate to have been able to live in England and Scotland, both places really having a profound effect on my books.
Thanks for checking out my books and I hope you enjoy them! Happy Haunting!
Dark intentions brought to light. A trip to the past could have disastrous consequences for the present.
This is book seven of Midlife Spirits, a Paranormal Women’s Fiction series of short novels from HP Mallory. This book is set in both the Garden District of New Orleans, and New York, USA. There is some romantic interest but there are no scenes of a sexual nature in this book.
Peyton continues her journey through time back to 1910 with Drake by her side. With them being away from her own timeline and her real physical body and Drake being very much beside her in physical form, Peyton is struggling to contain the feelings she has for Drake. She loves him but she is trying to remain true to Ryan. The problem is, the longer she stays in 1910, the harder it is to remember Ryan or her life in her own time.
The event she witnesses while in 1910 will change Peyton forever. Will she be able to solve the mystery she was sent back to investigate? Will she get back to her own time with Drake in tow? Will her actions in the past have had unintended or unforeseen consequences? How can they avoid interference from Voodoo Priestess, Guarda, or Baron Samedi, whose intentions towards both Peyton and Ryan have not become clear yet?
I raced through this book in one evening; I did not want to put it down. We know that Guarda and Baron Samedi are up to something but we don’t yet know what and they remain a threat that none of the main cast of characters is really aware of. I’m waiting for this story arc to play out. I have a feeling it will be here soon.
I really like Ryan’s character but I like Drake more. We know that Peyton and Ryan love each other but Drake also loves her and she loves him, despite there being a century between their lives. Drake’s spirit has been residing in her head for so long that he seems like an integral part of her. In this book, we get to know him and his background and motivations really well. It’s a shame she can’t just have both of them but she has to make a decision and she might not make the right one.
I love the way the characters have really come to life and I’m invested in all their journeys. HP Mallory writes in a well paced style, which draws the readers into her world. She really brought 1910 New York to life for me. I am eagerly awaiting book eight in this series.
The reading order for this series is as follows:
Book 1: Afraid of the Dark Book 2: A Ghost of a Chance Book 3: Mischief Brewing Book 4: Bump in the Night Book 5: Bone Voyage Book 6: Deadly Intentions Book 7: Ghostly Gathering
Poor Peyton is still stuck back in 1910 New York and still trying to piece together the mystery of Dorothy Arnold and her new born baby. Drake is being a distraction in all his many glory. As Peyton dives deeper into the mystery of what happened to Dorothy and also finding out more of Drake's past there are things that are not adding up . When they meet Lucien , Drake's brother , Peyton finds out things about Drake that make her feel left out in the cold , mainly about the love of Drake's life . Finally we get to find out more about the debonair Drake, we find out things that have Peyton rethinking the feeling she has for this man .She is really torn in this book between finding the missing woman and fighting the feelings between Drake and Ryan . I hope she chooses Ryan cause Drake is debonair and sometimes comes off a arrogant and Ryan is a sweet guy who you want in your life . There is also something up Guarda and Baron Samedi don't know what it is but these to really give off the creepy vibe big time . I must say that this book was one that had my heart racing all the way through . I love these characters and wanted to find out what is going to happen to them . This book I devoured in one evening , I couldn't put it down . Peyton and Drake are hotter then ever but as secrets come to light that could jeopardize them both. The author really puts them through the paces in this book and you really start to get into their minds and their hearts. Oh and the ending is well it is classic twist that will have you going omg what did she just do to us . So grab this series for a fun fall read.
Ghostly Gathering is another twisted and intense installment of the Midlife Spirits series starring Peyton Clark. This book continues the main story line from Deadly Intentions. Peyton and Drake are still in 1910 trying to understand what happened to Dorothy. They get a whole lot more than they bargained for.
I love Peyton. She's fun, interesting, and a wonderful character. She continues to learn more about her abilities and is realizing it's not all wine and roses. I really enjoy the time travel aspect of this series as Peyton continues to go back in time. A lot of chemistry blossomed between Peyton and Drake in 1910, while they searched for Dorothy. I found this novella completely engaging, fast paced, and I couldn't put it down. The characters have grown throughout the series and the author does a wonderful job writing them. I'm excited to read the next book.
Well Payton is still back in time. She is working on the mystery of Dorothy Arnold and her baby. Things just keep getting in her way. Drake is now flesh and all in the way of Payton's feelings. I really want Ryan to win this romance. With this and that's going on I am not sure if Payton is going to find out anything on Dorothy. There is so much blocking her way. It is a cluster of different thing Payton needs to find out FAST. Really good book. I can't believe some of the stuff happened.
Peyton is approached by Ada who is I'll & her daughter Jill. While Ada was in a coma she told Peyton her grandmothers spirit was stuck & couldn't move on. Peyton now had to time travel again, with the help of Guarda, to 1910, New York. She takes Drake with her & he is in the flesh. The longer they stay in 1910, the more that is forgotten about 2018. Peyton & Drake share a kiss & now Peyton is confused as to who she wants to be with. Upon returning to 2018, Drake is no longer in Peytons' head.
I feel like I'm right there with Peyton as she travels thru time via the spirit world. The detail is great and I feel like I'm hanging in every word. My heart hurts for Drake and Ryan and hope the author delves a little deeper into Ryan and his feelings in the future.
The main character is still stuck in 1910 New York with her ghost, Drake that is now a flesh and blood man in 1910 and they try to find out what happened to Dorothy Arnold and her baby. A lot of ghosts and other wonderful characters.
This is probably my favorite installment of this series thus far. I enjoyed seeing Drake as an independent individual, as opposed to just a spirit. If I were Peyton and I realized that Drake hadn't touched another person in over a hundred years, I don't think I would have been able to deny him that experience. I hope at some point we get to see Peyton and Drake on level footing again, I hope their circumstances are different, and I hope Peyton makes a different choice.

This was a well-written, entertaining book. It held my interest and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series.
This book makes the main character seem like a loony now lol. I’ve been loving the characters but I don’t like love triangles snd it just turned in to one!
Petyon is still stuck in the 1900's in this book. She will have to make decisions and there will be some twist and turns for her. This was an interesting read.
I need Peyton and Drake to be the "real" deal! These two are perfect for each other with the one exception of him...not being alive. For real though.. they're the perfect team!
This installment is perfection, just like the rest of the series! A little bit if time travel, a little solving cases and an Oh No Ending that Mallory is known for writing!
I'm still liking this series! This book continues the action with Peyton back in 1910. I have to admit, I'm very nervous about the deepening relationship between Peyton and Drake! I feel like Ryan is such a better guy, and he's ALIVE. New secrets come to light that will cause even more upheaval in Peyton's life. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop with Baron Samedi as well. I can't wait to see what happens in book 8!
Investigating a murder in 1910 with her handsome housemate brings a lot of feelings for Peyton. Drake is more than he seems and makes her feel more than a committed girl should, in her opinion. The murder was so horrible and the times were not especially good for women. Returning to present time creates more issues than she anticipated and leaves the reader eager for the next book.
