After speeding through the three books of the "Enemy" series which introduced me to Carl Logan, I was left wanting more. That's when I picked up the five books of the "James Ryker" series and was happily surprised to learn of his true identity. All eight of these book were fast paced - in both how they were written and how I was engrossed in reading them. With good story lines, great characters, and straight forward style, Rob Sinclair's novels are a terrific vacation companion...because you have plenty of time NOT to put them down and continue reading from one book to another. Now it's on to the first book of the Ryker Returns series - Renegade!
Fast moving action and page turning suspense with credible characters in tricky situations is all you'll get from James Ryker. You start the story at an even pace and then without realising it you are hooked. I wanted to make the series last a bit longer, but I was compelled to know what happened next.
A 5* read throughout. What an adventure! Nail biting drama all the way. Incredibly good addictive storytelling with thrilling action and suspense. It had me reading into the early hours. I highly recommend this series.
Couldn’t put down these books. From start to finish these were a rollercoaster of a ride,, James Bond would be no match for him. Five completely different books, recommended to anyone that likes all out action and espionage.
A rip roaring read, yes all of them, they were unputdownable! I was glued to my kindle and loved the pace of the stories, you want him to survive, beat the baddies and maybe, just maybe find some happiness. A super read!
An excellent series, exciting from the get-go. Admittedly, Ryker gets into some situations where a mortal human would not survive but that's why the books move at an exciting pace. Looking forward to reading more from Mr Sinclair.
I don't give many books 5 stars (It is probably 4.75 - see below), but this series is superb, books 1-4 especially. In a way Book 5 seems to be shoe-horned in , maybe to show that there was still life in Ryker after The Green Viper book, but saying that it is still an excellent (standalone?) story.
I will be on the lookout for other Ryker books as time goes non.
Not really a book reviewer per se. This is more of a recommendation. After reading the first three Carl Logan books by Mr. Sinclair, I was happy to find this set of five books available, including the White Scorpion that didn't appear available anywhere else.
Carl Logan, now James Ryker, has found his humanity. With that comes more discriminating carnage - he avoids hurting innocents as best he can. He allows himself to feel rather than operating as a killing machine. The changes from Carl Logan to James Ryker aren't better or worse for the reader; they are just different and add new perspectives for the reader.
Of the five, Silver Wolf (#3) was my favorite for both its intrigue and tragedy. The Green Viper (#4) is a bit harder to read as it comes across to the reader as British rather than for us Yanks. All in all, great series & can't wait for the next Ryker book.
Just completed the series and it is good. No, better than that. It is as good as the early Andy McNab and Lee Child books. Yes, I'd recommend if you're fans of Jack Reacher and Nick Stone
