I’m a monster. The moment I see her, I know. This beauty is my treasure.

Once I was a male to be admired and desired. That was before. Before the experiments, before the procedures. Now I’m a monster.

A beast.

I didn’t mean to kidnap Sophia. I saw her and I acted. Now I can’t let her go. I won’t. She must understand what I know. We are meant to be together.

Sophia

As if life wasn’t hard enough.

I wasn’t prepared for being kidnapped by the strangest Zmaj I've ever seen. He was one of the experiments in the pods and somehow he's free. His name is Bahr and he calls me his treasure. I don’t know about that, but I do see his pain. And beneath his beastly exterior I see a man. A man I want to know.

All I have to do is buy enough time before the other survivors come after the "monster" and this all ends badly.

This experiment fell a little flat...

I probably shouldn't have jumped into a 21 book series at book 21. Though I don't remember when I grabbed this if it said at the time that it was part of an ongoing series because I tend to avoid those or read the previous books first. So even though this is a stand alone or the beginning of a second season or something, I did feel that I was missing some of the background info and experiences that led to the separations/hierarchy of the survivors in the bunker. They grouped themselves into factions that I really didn't have much history on of what happened to them and their in-fighting.

With that being said this was very insta-love, which I understand on the part of Bahr since the Zmaj have fated mates they call treasure. But there really wasn't any relationship building with most of Bahr and Sophia's time together was spent dealing with Bahr's Bijass rages. (Again didn't really have much background on this Bijass to know if his outbursts were normal or not?) So when after 2 days with Bahr and half a day away from him Sophia's crying and asking others if it's really love or not, I couldn't tell you. I didn't really feel it. Granted I understood her feelings of not wanting him attacked or hurt by others in the bunker.

I didn't like the conclusion to the "bad guy running roughshod over the whole bunker getting to kidnap and hold hostages" storyline. It didn't seem plausible at all that that would be tolerated or they really couldn't find others to do what he was doing. So there were big issues left unanswered. We also never got to see how people reacted and handled Bahr since most of the story was about how they were gonna react and so that also wasn't brought to a satisfactory conclusion. His Bijass issues also were never addressed in the end. Did they just stop once Sophia decided to be with him?

Other issues: Bahr's experimentation doesn't make any sense and it's purpose was never described. If he is a dangerous "dragon" like warrior and you want to make him "more deadly", why would you cut off his wings. Now he's grounded, that seems like a disadvantage. The same with cutting off his horns. Now he can't gore or gouge. They added a scorpion tail, but it didn't have poison or stab. In the fighting scenes it said he hit people in the head with his stinger and it knocked a couple out, but not by anything other than a hit. So, why?! Then his two spider leg hands, it said they were pointed like the tips of spider's legs but he could somehow grab things with them and undo buttons? Not explained well at all. I felt like this was a poorly executed ripoff of Susan Trombley's Iriduan Test Subjects The Scorpion's Mate (Iriduan Test Subjects, #1) by Susan Trombley , without truly giving thought to the purpose and description and relaying that to the reader. Also Bahr's two cocks and how they worked aren't really explained well either, but again that could have been done in previous books.

It was okay. There wasn't much relationship building. I did really like Bahr, he was a sweetheart though very troubled. Sophia was pretty open minded though let fear keep her away from Bahr which led to the "bad guy" getting his hands on them. There was also very little steam. I don't know if I would continue on with the next one, I would have to read the blurb and decide. Take from that what you will.

Even though this was an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS AUTHOR ?
YOUR PLOT AND STORY LINES HAVE MORE HOLES THAN A SPONGE!
And I’m wondering if that is what your brain matter, consist of too?
nevermind typos like thought instead of though.. and heir instead of her….I’ve read nearly entire serries
Still got a few books in series to go
And they are all really good except a few things that irk me
Like how the women deal with monthly issues .. they are crash landed in a desert planet with an occasional oasis they are mostly in caves or a couple of ruined cities most clothing is skins or. The clothes on their backs and those are needed to protect their skin from the two harsh sun’s blistering their flesh. So how are the ladies dealing with monthly issues never mentioned I guess it’s better to just stay pregnant hun? They been on the planet Tajss now for what 3 ? 4 years ? Longer ..Some have children old enough to run jump speak full sentences now. Happy families. Even with giant carnivores plants & beast. And invading slaver aliens … they have found a happy happy life. So the series is awesome enjoying it well. Thank you . But. No soap very little water to waste it with bathes etc. but in this specific book my biggest issues are
A lot of MFC are TSTL.. OR JUST A BAD PERSON EITHER WAY .. I care for many of them, some I out right can’t stand! The cats and cat like pets they befriend and then abandon! .. nope nope nope!
Another plot story line hole!
They (human Zmaj) are not the same species
Human female bodies are different .. than Zmaj
So he has never “seen” her.. so how does he know .. what she looks like down there? Really? While he is fantasizing about smexing her .. he describes her body parts .. he has never actually encountered before ? Huh?
He describes the color of her insides! Hmm? For all he knows she is rainbow striped down there with glow in the dark insides.. but he somehow describes her as pretty pink lips and red wet inside flesh

Ok???… moving on…
So he gets her A Kedi, A cat like creature with wings .. two others from other females who abandoned their pets. Apparently, flying cats are disposable pets.. so I guessing this one will meet a similar fate! It’s disgusting.
Btw it is pronounced and spelled ..Mephistopheles, not Mistoffeless. My gawd! Unless author was going for MissesStoffleas misses stop fleas (there are no fleas on this planet so it doesn’t fit!
Ok I. Not gonna ruin it for anyone but I have determined she is TSTL
OFFICIALLY BY CHAPTER 16.
And then…there’s this ?
“Yeah,” I shrug. “I best be going. My roommates will be wanting to see me.”

Uh? …Your nephew, will be wanting to see you after 3 days! . Did she forget she had a nephew? Did the author forget her MFC had a nephew? Nope … I’m wrong.. so,
Ok went back and reread chapter 1… three times to realize the way it’s written made me think AL WAS MFC NEPHEW… but I don’t think so. But all the way up to ch 17 she never tells her kidnapper she has an 8YR nephew she needs to get back to. So why pls explain to me why SHE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GOING TO BLACK MARKET TO GET EXTRA FOOD TOKENS FOR A KID THAT IS NOT HER FAMILY? PLS? why did the author make such an emphasis on Sophia get food tokens for the child, that is not her family just her friends kid? Uh? So confusing I spent 16 chapters yelling at her, to tell him up you have a nephew! Grrrrr. And she doesn’t.. but author wrote it in a way that made me think she did!
And the beginning of this book is ALL ABOUT GETTING FOOD CREDITS FOR A CHILD AND SHE NEVER GIVES THEM TO HIM.. AND BASICALLY FORGETS ALL ABOUT THEM.. and never mentioned ever again!
can’t keep your characters straight apparently
8 times in one book not this one, Authour used the wrong character name!
Rakstan from another book of the red planet jungle is Zeva’s mate , he would never help the Eye! Gosh this is sooo annoying
Exerpt
(If I told them how I am struggling, then I would just as likely end up on a pole at the tender mercies of Jkaran and Zirthoan.)
Author 8 time’s swapping out Zirthoan and Rakstan’s names

Jkaran & Zirthoan …Are the Eyes guards and clearly. Clones without souls
Not Rakstan! You can’t keep your characters straight apparently !
It’s like you copy paste your story then insert names all Willy Nilly!
But that is not my only issue! .. my biggest issue is the plot!
Ok? So! I already read. The first series. (RED PLANET dragons of Tjiss). This series (RED PLANET JUNGLE) is supposed to be a prequel series. I get that, but in the 1st s. The generational human ship is attacked by the Zzlo they are slavers, so it makes sense. Great plot and setting. But…… in this prequel series .. wait? Um? A counselor member (a human man). Makes a power grab, by orchestrating the entire crash onto an extremely hostile planet, because wait for it .. that planet needs women ? Huh? Ok how does the author justify this abrupt change in plot that makes absolutely no sense at all. Ok? Even if I BUY into the .. power grab.. how? By crashing onto a desert, hostile planet where everything can and will kill you? No no no? How is that going to work for him? He is still crashed on a hostile planet full of nothing but predatory everything! everywhere! very little water and even the plants will eat you! I’d only buy the power grab if he worked with the Zzlo, not “THE ORDER”! .. I mean I completely understand why the Order would crash this ship.. but it makes no sense that a human Male…would work with”the EYE OF THE ORDER” to crash their ship so the Zmaj and The Order could take the females! and only if the crash was an accident, caused by some fool, who used a gun during the attack! Cause that would cause the hull or portion of the ship to rupture and loose gravity etc. etc. etc. but no! By crashing. By purposely, orchestrating the accident the human male is stranding himself on this hostile planet too! It’s not like he can be king or whatever so this power grab in this Manner makes absolutely no sense. Author has the guy discussing and coordinating a crash .. of their ship onto a hostile planet where let’s face it . The planet only needs females! How did this guy think it would work out for him? Lose everything and be king of a small band of males and a few females, that survived? On a hostile planet where they need the giant warrior 7ft tall reptilian, Zmaj to protect and provide for them? Seriously ., huh? Sigh! What are you doing? even with this GIANT GLARING PULSING CONTINUITY ISSUE burning brighter than both of Tjiss’s Suns… still a good story of survival and fated love. And betrayal.. oooooooh! Just that, this new PLOT MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE WHATSOEVER! Should have kept to the Original plot or just had the Eye of The Order working with the Zzlo to collect half the females for THE ORDER and Half the females for slaves and all the males for slaves right .. that makes since as the Zzlo are slavers that is what they do? Or you could have had both The order and the ZZLO attack the ship at the same time each with their own nefarious purposes. Now Authour is switching gears in plot again. Causing THE EYE OF THE ORDER TO HAVE CHANGED HIS MIND ABOUT HIS ORIGINAL INTENTION OF R@PING FORCING WOMEN TO BREED and mow seems to be trying to make him have a legit honorable higher purpose. All along how is that connected to Guiaus ..the human who orchestrated the crash? You desperately need an alpha reader to catch continuity issues like this! More holes than a pound cake!

18 books 2 novellas
Annabel’s book I’ve been seriously dreading cause she is a tyrant and she is delusional. I was hoping her story would explain why she has been so nasty to the other women.
Ok so he husband died.. so what? Does that explain why she is an absolute tyrant.. no it does not! And cra cra gurl even took credit for Kate and Nora finding the loves of theirs lives.. if by that .. you mean Annabel DROVE THEM FROM THE CAVE BY BEING AN INSUFFERABLE TYRANT. So they ran screaming straight into the arms of the Zmaj males of their dreams.. then yeah. She “did that”! And the Rivalry between Rosalind and Annabel is and has always been in Her own head.. I’m glad she eventually figure ps this out but Ohmygawd it was hard reading this book I just wanted to S/ap the $hi+ out of her so many times.
Don’t know how Calluem manages to put up with her. But even the end of the book I expected some growth out of Annabel . There was not much to be honest . But still enjoyed the story but honestly I’m glad it’s over Annabel is the worst. She is TOO annoying. Too MEAN AND too @ITCHY TO LIVE !

A Sucker💕 for a Brooding, Hurt Man🐉🍆⛲💪👊

ADULT Alpha Alien Male Zmaj Dragon 🐉 Romance 💕with Abductions.
In this sad and frustrating sci-fi novel, Bahr🐉, a Zmaj Dragon 🐉 man is horribly mutilated and experimented on by cruel human scientists. Then he gets free and captures Sophia💃💋, his treasure.

At first she is terrified of him and his almost uncontrollable anger, but who can blame him?

ARC Provided by Booksprout 🌱
I also got this ebook from Amazon 📚with KU.

This book reminded me of the novel Frankenstein, combined with Beauty and the Beast.unfortunately, Bahr is pretty much stuck with his terrifying mutilations but he is truly Prince Charming at heart💘.

This is the first book in this series I have read. It's a tough read but well written.

fantastic series

I have been loving this series, but this one feels a little out of touch with the rest. It seems like the last book was a reset and now we’re in the same place, six months later with WAAAAY more humans than the previous books ever hinted at, at most I would have thought we had no more than 200 survivors, but now there are 5000 humans and Zmaj crammed in this bunker escaping the nuclear fallout from the 2 missiles launched at the end of book 20. Plus it was never mentioned those missiles were nuclear until this book- kind of an unpleasant surprise I think. Plus in this bunker an entire underworld and black market have developed with new characters who are so morally bankrupt that they should have been busy stirring up more trouble than Gershom did in the first few books. So how is it we’ve never heard of them? Book 20 was also clear the mining settlement was survived by only about a dozen people, and they were pretty much all named by name. However in book 21 the mining settlement refugees have their own wing and more characters are named that seem to have come out of nowhere. I also don’t like all of the questions left after book 20. Where was the tribe hiding? Did we actually lose any of our beloved Zmaj in the battle at the end of 20? I get that we’re in a new place and exploring new characters but where is out familiar cast? We only get 4 characters mentioned by name out of almost 20 couples! Plus in book 19 Amara announced that she was pregnant with her and Shidan’s second child, yet in her cameo in 21 which took place 6 months after the fall of the city she is no longer pregnant? Plus, wasn’t it Nora that Sophia met that gave her the mirror, she should also have been very pregnant with Archion’s baby. And by the way what happened to him? He arrived at the Order’s compound with Kahbri at the beginning of 20, but wasn’t listed in the group of survivors that escaped after the attack! Plus I find it really annoying that the invaders went from having 6 arms, 2 regular and the other 2 sets with pinchers, to having 4 well functioning arms wielding two swords and 2 clubs when the 6 armed ones operated stun guns. They also got way bigger, I mean 20 mentioned them as nearly the size of Dorsdan, the Largest of the Zmaj! I’m a little disappointed in the compounding inconsistencies. I have thoroughly enjoyed the series though, but it feels like it’s losing focus. I intend to finish it, I have to know what happened to everyone!

So all that said, Sophia and Bahr didn’t make much sense to me in the over all story. Life on Tajss’s surface is certainly more exciting than like in a bunker. The addition of the black market and more shady humans doesn’t do anything for the story. I hope everything gets back on track in the next books!!

another up and down book

The couple are cute together on the surface. Underneath I do not buy the story. From the fact she was part of the hate all but humans (not realistic if you are heading to another galaxy) and more hang ups they both had from their life.
Again I am going to mention the author needs some good, blunt test readers before releasing books. I have no issue with the characters outline. It is the back story, and realistic storyline.
One, the previous book did not mention nuclear and planet destroying bombs. The last book left it off like the bombs were Bombs that would just destroy ships and then they could emerge from temporary shelter. And why does the author repeatedly put in human tech, materials. Different galaxy, planet, materials.
Two, the silo was open with several of both species there, exposed, plus the doors, spaces were open to other areas from previous books. So if nuclear, everyone would have died from fall out. And the space more likely destroyed completely.
Three, the planets living “center” or spirit. Why would it lead them to destroy its home? Makes zero sense.
Four where was the lost southern order Tajss?
Five, the black market plot twist is ridiculous. There is no way the Tajss would let it stand, they would have run a tight, organized place. Training all humans to keep fit, reduce boredom, etc.
frankly with the site housing only cryogenic beings there would not be food, portable water. Unless the author added robotics to run everything, excluding their maintenance, and access to fresh epi, they would all be dead.
I am the point of asking myself why do I keep reading the books by author. I do find a spark of intrigue, and they do draw me in. So she has talent, but needs to keep discipline and get some readers that will tell her when she strayed or added illogical, unnecessary, and contractions in her stories.
She could be great, but my desire to see what her imagination comes up with versus getting jarred by the illogical is getting too much.

This is an interesting addition to the series, but I'm not really sure I like the new over-arching plot. I never liked Gershom and his followers much, and now I don't like that we have a new evil human to deal with. I get that it is likely that some of the humans would be evil, but Zareth just seems really horrible. It seems like he has no soul, and will hurt anyone who stands in his way.

I liked Bahr, and thought his story was sad. It wasn't good that he kidnapped Sophia, but he realized that and eventually let her go.

Sophia was OK, and I especially liked that she realized it had been wrong for her to follow Gershom years before. She realized that she didn't really agree with Gershom, and that she had followed him out of fear. I liked, too, that she soon realized Bahr would never hurt her -- and then wanted to help him. Once they got together, they were good for each other.

This book gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Sophia is part of the mining faction who want to be in human only enclave. When she first crash landed on the planet, she was young and the huge Zmaj terrified her. It was even worse when she saw human women falling for them and made her wonder if they were being brain washed. That is why she joined the anti Zmaj faction. Now she is older and has had a chance to watch the Zmaj, she no longer fears them. As a matter of fact she now regrets her decision to join the mining group because of all the fighting and everyone out for themselves. To her surprise one day everything changed. She has been feeling watched for the last several days but never caught anyone. Then a huge stranger kidnaps her and drags her to a dark hiding place. Behr is Zmaj but is is different from every other Zmaj she has met. He seems to be a mad scientist's experiment, a being put together with many different parts. Behr scares her at first because of his monstrous appearance and his bad temper but soon she sees that he only looks like a monster on the outside. She is trying to convince him to let her go but he keeps calling her his treasure and wants to keep her close.

Behr was part of an elite fighting unit. His unit was chosen to undergo enhancement to make them a more awesome warrior. However the scientists went too far and made them into creatures that no one would ever love or want to be around. The rest of his unit is in suspended sleep but somehow he is out and wandering free. He is fascinated by the alien humans and one especially draws his attention. It is very evident that Sophie is his treasure or fated mate. When he gets a chance he kidnaps her to claim her better. He is torn between thinking that she would never be able to love a monster like him and locking her up so no one else could get close.

Bahr and Sophia's Story . . .

Sophia is asked to purchase tokens in the bunker so they can feed their people. She goes to what is called The Market to argue with Owen about how many tokens she can get for the iron ore. He offers 2 which is ridiculously low. He does suggest a pretty woman can do better, but she flatly refuses his “offer”. She looks up at a grate and thinks she sees movement. She continues arguing with Owen, and he finally gives in and allows her the 6 she asked for. Once again, she sees movement and wonders who or what is watching her. All the way back to the bunker, she feels like someone is following.

Bahr twists in his sheets, stuck in a nightmare of what the cruel human scientists did to him. Tied down where even the bijass activating can’t free him, they cut him with scalpels. The pain spikes and he sees them carry half of his tail away. He jumps from bed as the dream… no, the memory… lets go of him. Someone bangs on the wall, wondering what is behind it, so Bahr must move. As he does, he hears a female voice and the dragon part of him says MINE.

This is the real start of Bahr and Sophia’s story. Bahr is badly mutilated by the scientists’ experiments. But his dragon recognizes her as his treasure and he must have her. Grab your copy and share their story. There is hope here because Sophia sees beyond the damage and scars. She sees the worthy male inside and she can love him for who he is. But can he bring himself to give her that chance to accept him freely? Can she love him and begin the mental healing that he needs so he can accept himself and not see the monster he believes they created as they carved him up?

3.5 stars

After finally beginning to find their footing on this strange and alien planet, and creating communities and families with the Zmaj, the human survivors of the generational ship were dealt another blow. Now they are living in a bunker not meant to hold even close to their numbers and struggling to provide enough resources for everyone. Sophia was part of the miner community, a group of humans that avoided the Zmaj when possible. Now they are living in the same bunker, and though the groups still keep to their own when possible they have no choice but to live in close proximity.

Bahr was a Zmaj warrior, but the experiments have left him a "monster" in his own eyes, a mix of pieces of various species that only vaguely resembles the Zmaj he once was. He finds himself drawn to Sophia he does not expect. He knows that her people will not accept a monster so he kidnaps her hoping to keep her for himself.

Although Bahr was certainly rough around the edges, he was trying to give Sophia what she needs. I could understand that Sophia was doing what she needed to for her people and herself. Although I thought they were ultimately a cute couple, it took me a good bit of the book to warm up to the relationship between them. I do think this is an interesting start to a new arc and I'm looking forward to seeing others like Bahr.

*I highly recommend reading previous books before you read this one. There is a lot of background you'll be missing if you don't.

Not a bad story little story, the characters made the story come alive. Sophia and Bahrain story is set after the devastation war happens and everyone is forced underground to survive the fallout to say it’s a hard life and challenging is an understatement. Bahr is an elite zmaj dragon warrior and with his 5 teammates they are chosen for a special mission but never did Bahr ever imagine that they would be experimented on and had body parts cut off and others grafted on that changed him from a proud warrior to a monster that’s now stuck in the bunker where it all happened and staying hidden now from the humans but watches them from inside the vents that have moved in after war. Sophia is a miner and works hard to earn her keep just like everyone else but on this day at the black markets she hears a noise coming from the vent and looks up and see’s nothing and continues to go back to the common area. Bahr is watching from the vent and see’s his treasure / fated mate and his dragon agrees and now he must have her and keep her safe and so he kidnaps her and at first Sophia is scared of the monster but there is a kindness to him and she feels he won’t hurt her at all. What happens between them when one knows she is his treasure and will do everything to keep her safe and the other is falling for her alien man when danger is closing in on them can they have some sort of future together or not.

The price of survival
Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2021

Season 2 of the ever-evolving saga of human intersection with the history and fate of the sentient planet Tajss opens a bit darker than what went before - the combined Zmaj and human factions of Tajss have successfully deployed nuclear weapons to destroy the Invaders who sought to overrun the planet, at the price of cramped confinement in the underground bunker complex which pre-dated both the Devastation and a period of Tajss history prior to that. All the evils of enforced confinement - the factionalism, inter-species friction, near-starvation and intense crowding, are temporary until the nuclear fallout clears the planet surface, but survival is harsh, demands sacrifices, forces tolerance for exploitative behavior, and grinds hope into dust. When Sophia accidentally discovers the existence of Bahr, some hope is rekindled - HIS. He's an old military experiment of Frankenstein-like ilk, a monstrous altered Zmaj soldier who has survived and revived from stasis to discover that Sophia is his ":Treasure." His bumbling attempts to win her nearly destroy his dream, and both their lives, before a reluctant acceptance of what cannot be changed sets things in balance. It's HFN, and an anxious wait for the next chapter in the Red Planet of Tajss series. This is a voluntary ARC review.

Love the series, still strong at 21.

Experiment b4hR: Red Planet Dragons of Tajss (Season Two) Book Twenty-One
By Miranda Martin
Kindle unlimited purchase
Miranda Martin has done it again, Twenty-one books in and still going strong.
Humans left an overpopulated Earth in massive generational ships intent on colonizing the universe. The ships were designed to create the illusion of home for their passengers. Many generations would live, work, love, and die before each ship reached their destination. One of the ships suffered a surprise attack by alien space pirates. In the attack, the ship itself was destroyed and crashed on a nearby planet, Tajss. And the rest as they say is history.
The humans that crashed on Tajss have now been on the planet for over 2 years. Some of the females have found love and even started a family. Now they are packed in a underground bunker with no insure into when it will be safe to vencher back out.
Once he was a male to be admired and desired. That was before. Before the experiments, before the procedures. Now he sees himself as a monster. A beast. He didn’t mean to kidnap Sophia. He saw her and he acted. Now he can’t let her go. He won’t. She must understand what he knows. They are meant to be together.

🤔

I liked the story. However I was a bit confused in the beginning of the book and wondered what happened to all the other zmajs there was no mention of any of them except Rosalind's mate. Not even any of their children. I was happy to see that the humans did have children of their own since no human births were ever mentioned in the past books.

This book took place after zmajs and the human survivors destroyed the invaders ships with the 2 missiles that were in the secret bunker. Everyone is now forced to stay inside the bunker because of possible radiation that might be lingering outside. The part that doesn't make sense is the fact that the humans in the Tribe and the City are dependent on Epis. There is no way for them to get it if they are trapped inside so how are they still alive without going into withdrawal? And what happened to the other humans and zmajs that were living on their own outside of the main population (like Victoria and Lothor and Piper and her 4 mates Kaidan, Ejder, Anguis and Mikhos). Were they at a safe distance from the explosions? So many things are not mentioned. I hope they have more explanations in the next book but I have a feeling that's not going to happen.

"The universe has a sense of humor."

This is, in essence, the beginning of a second series, as such some characters from the previous series are here, and we're definitely on the same world a d dealing with consequences from the previous series, but this is also a new beginning in some important ways. As such I'm glad this is a solid stand alone read ... New readers could join the series/world here.

Sophie was one of the miners, before everyone had to band together in the bunker to defeat a common enemy. The miners were known for two things, mining... and being vocally humans first, some might have called them purists.

Bahr has been a!one longer than he can put words to... lime most Zmaj. Unfortunately, that might be the only way in which he still resembles his own species.

This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read is part of an interesting world, and revolves around two characters who are experiencing loneliness in very different ways. This story does some definite world building, giving a great sense of the bunker that has become home to the humans and Zmaj, and exploring how they are trying to survive underground until the planet's surface can be inhabited once more.

He was a Zmaj warrior and then the scientists did experiments on him and he is now a monster. Emerging from one of the pods in the warehouse he sees Sophia and immediately knows that she is his treasure and that they belong together - and so he does something without thinking - he kidnaps her. For Sophia (and all the other humans) life is hard enough, but to be kidnapped by Bahr is almost too much to bear. However, behind all the strange and damaged exterior she can see a man who is in pain that she wants to know better. Can she buy them both enough time before the other survivors come after him and it all ends badly?

I enjoyed this story which had the tortured Behr who was very close to his dragon and was finding life difficult even when he was in hiding and then Sophia who was one of the humans who were swept into Gershom's anti-alien and humans first movement (even though she didn't really understand it completely). Now she is less scared of them although being kidnapped by one has not helped. I liked the way that she was determined to help him as well as see the person behind the disability (for that is a good way of viewing his modifications). Easy to read and understand. Contains a little sexual content.

Oh, these two. I just want to give Bahr a big old hug. He's got issues. But he's trying for the sake of his treasure. Even though, love doesn't conquer all, maybe it can help them see it's worth the effort.
Sophia is fascinating, she never reacts how I think she will, but you can see how much she cares about people and how much she wants to be there for Bahr. I like how she doesn't just excuse the things he does. She acknowledges that kidnapping isn't ok, and worries about being abused. It's nice to hear her internal processing what is going on and if her reactions are reasonable or she's letting things go because because she feel sorry for (and/or lust for) Bahr.

I enjoyed this story overall, and am glad to see there will be more, but I kind of miss these two. There was a bunch at the end that I was a bit frustrated that it just was left dangling and I really wanted more. But I am assuming this will be related to the overall series arc. I haven't read any other books in this series but there was plenty of background in a little note at the beginning so I didn't feel lost.

I've read 3 or 4 books other books by Miranda Martin and have found them to be OK reads, but this is not one of them. There were chapters when this was just clunky and tedious, and others move right along. Bahr and a small group of Zmaj were experimented on and made "super warriors". But now they are held as monsters. Sophia is a human living underground away from the devastation on the planet surface. He sees her and decides Sophia is his treasure (mate), but he has little control of his emotions and thinks he's a monster. The book plodded along with them struggling to come to grips with their feelings, what to do, and running from the bad guy. I just didn't really get into this whole book. Not for me. The good news is you can read the entire 23 book Red Planet Dragons of Tajss series for FREE with your KU subscription.

Scientists can do so much good and yet they can also do so much evil!. Sophia is finding lfe tough in the bunker, as are most people but some that she has to deal with are worse than most. She has just dealt with one of the black market traders Orson (shudder) and is making her way back to her room when she is grabbed and taken deep into the tunnels. These tunnels are for the most part explored and yet some are still unknown as is the entity who took her. Bahr, what can you say about him. He was a soldier used to war, no warmth or kindness and then he was sent, purposefully to be "enchanced" by science. Read into that what you will. Whle Zmajness remains from all outward appearances he is a monster. The phantom of the opera, well the tunnels. His inner dragon knows that Sophia is his mate but how could he ever be with someone so pure when he sees himself as so tainted? There are many times I wished I could reach out and hug him. If anyone deserved hope and love, Bahr does.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue.
The majority of books I read get this rating - I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough

Loved reading this story about Sofia and Bahr. This is a wonderful addition to this series that I have loved and enjoyed. Bahr is a wonderful character for those who loved "Beauty and the Beast". Bahr, a Zmal dragon, who has been experimented on by scientists escapes his pod that his tormentors put him in and runs into Sophia. Sophia who lives in a underground complex of a mining colony is complaining about how the council cut their rations again decides to go to the halls of what was rumored to be a secret research building to buy black-market ration chips. While haggling the price she feels she being watched. Bahr who is hiding among the vents sees his mate, Sophia. What happens as Bahr follows his mate's scent and then kidnaps her was a engaging story that I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

I love the story and this series continuation. Bahr had been alone for a long time inside the bunker before the humans and Zmaj came to stay, to escape the invaders trying to kill and capture them. Sophia is living the bunker with others and its a tight fit and trying to survive on less than they had at the mining colony. She goes to the black market for business and Bahr kidnaps her on her way back. She is frightened of him because of the extra appendages he has. He is having a hard time controlling the Bijass, a regression to the more primal instinct. He knows that kidnapping Sofia is wrong but the dragon is sure she is their treasure and doesn't want to let her go. He has been experimented on and believes himself to be a monster. What will happen to them. Must read to find out.

It doesn't take Sophia long to figure out that Bahr isn't a monster, even though he doesn't look like the traditional Zmaj anymore and even though he kidnapped her from her people to be with him. Bahr comes to Sophia's rescue time and time again and calls her his "treasure". Will he give her a chance to bring him to her people so that they can be together? He's been experimented on, he thinks that they won't accept him, because he's a monster. They both find out that there's more to being a monster than skin deep. And that humans can be the cruelest people of all. I'm so glad that we're returning to Tajss! Loved the story! Bahr's story was tragic and very sweet in an "Beauty and the Beast" kind of way.

Another fabulous story in this series this book deals with the evil of scientific experimentation on a good zmaj soldier and the damage to his self esteem and life while he meets and grabs a human woman his treasure. Something he never felt he deserved after becoming a scientific monster. Add in the fear the woman first feels and being held captive before she starts to see him as a wounded soul and u have an emotional story. Throw in evil human men profiting off black market deeds, threats and violence and it becomes a dramatic, exciting very interesting reading experience. And ultimately true love conquers all

After being forced to use nuclear weapons, the remaining Zmaj and humans are living in underground bunkers to escape the radiation. What they don’t know is that at one time scientists did cruel experiments on Zmaj soldiers there, modifying them. One of these soldiers has gotten free and is roaming the undiscovered tunnels. Bahr is barely existing until he hears Sophia’s voice. His dragon immediately recognizes his treasure and he impulsively kidnaps her. Their gradual connection is sweet and gentle and the information about the workings of the bunker are interesting. I look forward to finding out about the rest of Bahr’s squad. New book, same story, hohum

Let me start by saying I LOVE the Zmaj and the world building involved with Tajss. This story though...meh. The characters are okay, I really like Bahr, the heroine is meh. I can deal with that, BUT when Zareth made an appearance, seemingly out of nowhere, with his followers who somehow appropriated various types of guns, I literally said 'what' out loud. It makes zero sense. Rosalind has enough people, Zmaj included, to have found the resources that supposedly only Zareth could find. Iean, these people are so great they got their own books in the series. 🤷‍♀️ It's the SAME concept of Gershom over and over again. Power hungry dude with some brutes. This was a sad attempt at breathing new life into the Zmaj series by beating a dead horse. 😔

Experiment b4hR

This book has a pretty different feel for an alien romance book. Sophie and Bahr made some choices that I wanted to smack them for. However, I could totally understand their why.
I'm the weird person who jumped into this series quite a ways into it. That didn't impact my enjoyment of the book. It gives you enough information to understand what is going on, but not so much that if you've followed the series you'll be bored.
My only gripe is that it felt a bit disjointed at times. Time didn't always make sense. However, maybe the author was going for that since they live in a bunker. Overall, I enjoyed the book a lot.

I never thought that their situation would be more dire than before but I guess life happens. Just as when you think that their situation is bad, turns out some have suffered more greatly than them. These are our new heroes in this second season. It’s interesting how the humans and the Zmajj tried to survive in their small and crowded new world. There are characters you will hate, others you will love and then there are others in between.

One good thing that still remains is the Zmajj’s recognition of and need to claim his treasure.

Season two on planet Tajss is starting out to be a whopping good continuation of a series beloved by many.
Bahr and Sophia are two very likable leads and have to traverse many obstacles for their HEA, not the least of which is the tormented Bahr’s physical alterations forced on him by evil scientists.
Through it all this was another well written storyline complimented by an engaging narrative that flowed smoothly into each dramatic and heartfelt moment.
Can’t wait for more!

One of the things I most love about this series is Miranda's ability to accurately show the human condition. Book 21 examines fear, those who experience it and those who create it, intentionally or accidentally. The hero and heroine ascend from fear to happiness, not because the environment changes but because of changes within the characters. It's one of those books that immerses you so thoroughly that you don't realize the lessons learned until the story is done and you can pull out and reflect.

I was thrilled to see a new book set on Tajss! This did not disappoint. It is a bit darker with where the storyline has taken the group as a whole but it is still good to get back to them! Now we start out in the bunker where everyone is living. Stephanie is kidnapped by Behr and we see how this unfolds. If you have read any of the previous stories in this world you know the dragon determines his treasure. I hope you are able to enjoy the next round of stories from Tajss- I know I will!!
