Author’s Note: This is not a shifter romance. The Dokiri men are savage enough in their manly forms. That being said, this book features a mild heat level. Enjoy the smoke but don’t expect to get singed.

Trigger warning: This novel plays on the trope of abduction. While Dokiri men won’t let anything keep them from the woman they love, even that woman herself, all love scenes between the hero and heroine are consensual.

5 "Faith over Fear" Stars!

Oh my heart. I loved this book. Sigvard was everything I wanted, expected, and more. This book was a feast of angst. Sigvard and Adira were two people burdened with tragedy and past mistakes that they were struggling to overcome for their own reasons. From the moment I first met Sigvard in Hollen the Soulless, I adored him. When tragedy struck, my heart bleed for him. It had been bleeding every since. In his own story, I still adored him. Maybe even more, but boy oh boy did I want to slap some sense into him; then hug him so hard and tell him, everything will be okay. Let it go. Adira was a scrapper, but she didn't know it. She had been manipulated into doubt and self recrimination by the person that was supposed to care for her. Yet she still just kept moving, kept breathing and being vulnerable. She was so brave. I wanted her to believe in herself so badly!

Their chemistry was off the charts. But this was a very low simmering pot. Fear not though, eventually it comes to a roaring rolling boil! Not explicitly, but very, very intense and intimately.

Sigvard the Nameless was an explosive finale to the fantastic Dokori Brides series. I had the pleasure of being able to follow this series from the very beginning and I have loved it so much this past year. I am absolutely hoping this was not the last of the Dokori adventures. I would a thousand percent read more. I want more. Please, more!

Dear Denali Day,

You taunted us from the beginning with Devil-may-care turned bedeviled Sigvard. You audaciously made us wait till the very end, raising expectations and hopes with each book. Do you realize the angst, the delicious torture, the sizzling chemistry we were all expecting? Apparently you do, because it’s all here.

This book is the smooth, fast-paced, high-stakes finale I didn’t know to dream of. I loved every minute. May the mountain fall.

OH MY DAYS

I loved Magnus, but I think my heart belongs to baby Siggy now! (Sorry Magnus honey.)
His story is the perfect ending to all of the brothers trials and tribulations. Bringing an end to the horrors under the mountain.
Sigvard, oh Sigvard. What a tortured soul you are. I just wanted to reach into the book and squeeze him, other times I really wanted to choose violence.

“I don’t deserve a name I can’t live up to. A woman I can’t be trusted to put first. Children I’m too stupid to care for. I don’t deserve a legacy. My sons wouldn’t survive long enough to give me one anyway. Not with me as their protector.”

His and Adria's journey is inspiring, and so magical. They help each other through their pain and suffering, becoming the people that they were always meant to be.
This story brought me all kinds of warm and fuzzies, I couldn't have asked for a better ending for all of the Dokiri men and their brides.

I was blessed with an ARC copy, and boy... you all are in for a treat!

Okay, buckle up, because I’m about to take you on a journey.

Imagine if you were so powerful that you massacred your entire town and family as a child, and your only hope was to join the Arcane Order. Take that a step further, and now you’re a physically matured, barely age-of-consent teenager who can’t control her power, and Talmar the Skeevy agrees to mute your powers in exchange for sexual favors. Everyone hates you, even the slaves who think Talmar is the hottest thing since Robert Downey Jr played Iron Man. Fast forward a few years, and you’re solidly in a prison you ‘need’ but hate. You long for the freedom to see the world around you, but you’re terrified that you’ll accidentally kill everyone without your coerced shackles.

Still with me here? Good.

Now, on the other side, you’re a Dokiri rider who made a monumental mistake in your youth that led to your sister-in-law being brutalized, your brother losing an eye, and your first (and what should have been only) wyvern dying. You’re riddled by guilt and self-loathing. You don’t feel like you should have been granted the privilege of living, let alone a bride. Because of the laws of your people, you’ll agree to bond with whatever gaiamancer the Order gives you in your desperate bid to rid the world of evil, even if she’s 90 years old and looks like Mick Jagger on a good day.

But instead of being a wrinkled old crone (nothing wrong with that! She probably would make incredible perogies), she’s a spectacularly attractive ghost masquerading in human clothing. Not a literal ghost. More like if a tub of vanilla ice cream came to life. With whipped cream. And probably cherries if you ask nicely.

ANYWAY.

These two personalities should have been toxic, but they ended up bringing each other to life.

Sigvard abducts her from the Order. This precious little snow mouse who’s in love with life and thrives when she sees anything new. She soaks it up like Bounty paper towels soak up grape juice. Or like a toddler who’s been given a 2ltr of Coca Cola.

And Sigvard proceeds to screw everything up in the most monumental of ways.

For someone who has had a mother and several sister-in-laws, his education in women is lacking. For real.

For instance, I wanted to stab him in the neck with a plastic spork when he suggested she had a choice and should ‘just say no’ to the one person who has kept her powers in check when she was terrified of murdering innocent people.

Sigvard the Nameless? More like Sigvard the Pogadi!

NOPE! She’d been groomed and coerced by someone she should have trusted.

And for his own part, Sigvard alternated between being a possessive, angsty Casanova, and a brooding, guild-ridden, ginger Jon Snow, mired in his own self-hatred.

Fast-forward here.

The plan is simple.

Adira goes Avatar mode with her earthbending powers and awakens the mountain (aka: LAVA TIME!) and kills the Soul Eaters (Dementors on steroids).

Meanwhile, the Dokiri go full Rambo on any of the underdwellers that escape the complimentary molten hot tub.

Sounds simple, right?

WRONG!

Meanwhile, Denali Day is just spinning in her chair, devilishly twirling her evil mustache and cackling. She’s probably stroking a long-haired white cat while planning to install an aquarium full of sharks with laser beams in the moat around her house.

It’s never that simple.

And the ending. OMG the ending!

It’s the epitome of bittersweet.

But... this is a large cast of characters... and there are enough loose ends to suggest spinoff books.

I can only hope! Both with Roth and the Nozverak (SUPER SUBTLE HINT HINT. Please take my money!)

This is a mixed bag for me.
The Hero is a tortured soul, the heroine is a mess, I liked that.
But the Hero is racked with guilt so thinks he doesn't deserve a future, which we know is from past actions in earlier books but I felt it went on a bit long.
He is fighting his desire, gives in a bit, hardens his heart again, it can feel a bit wash, rinse, repeat.
Especially when it's still happening at 70%.
The book does feel long.
So you can either feel you are getting something you can get your teeth into as there is plenty of world building etc.
Or get a bit bored and skim, which I did at certain points.
The Hero is cold and calculated, all about the mission, he is unkind at times to the heroine, it gets to a point that you wonder if he will push a reader too far to find his way back from, he was getting to that point with me, esp due to the state of the heroine.
Incidentally I never noticed him give a heartfelt apology for his actions or the physical injuries she sustains, her feet running to escape for example or her feelings of lack of dignity having to dress in front of him as he is afraid to leave her alone.

The heroine is sheltered at 'the Order'.

She is unable to control her power, feels she is responsible for deaths of others in her past and has the 'help' of a man who is basically raping her in exchange for help controlling her abilities when she feels she is on the verge of panicking.

There are no actual intimate scenes, they happen, one at the start between the heroine and her abuser and later between the heroine and Hero but there is no details, it's vague and then said as happened.
The scene between the heroine and the other man is especially vague and stops after she asks him to help her ( which the reader doesn't understand the situation at that point).

This book draws to a conclusion the enemy threat that has run through the series.
There is potential for more, either how they will adjust to life without the enemy or with interactions of other races they have met and dealt with.

HEA. Other couples from previous books are seen living their HEA.

This whole series has been a huge surprise to me. I was intrigued by the wyverns and stayed for the fantastically romantic Dokiri. I never expected to like it this much but I have devoured every installment. Now that the Dokiri Brides has come to an end, I have the sweetest series hangover.

I was looking forward to Sigvard's story the most, and it didn't disappoint. From the moment Joslyn was taken from Sigvard's care in Hollen, I wanted to see this young man get his HEA. Now, as the culmination of the whole series, this story wraps up and blows away all at once. Sigvard and Adira illustrate the power of atonement, redemption, and forgiveness. Forgiveness, not just for others who may have wronged you, but for yourself. Sigvard is such a great example of the poison that can infect a person when they don't forgive themselves. We have seen the lengths he will go to gain forgiveness from Hollen and Joslyn during the previous three books. Forgiveness that was already given freely. The only person that was still holding him responsible for events that were really outside his control was himself. Adira was the perfect hamma to pull Sigvard from his self-imposed hell. Adira has a past to overcome, herself. One that holds her back from achieving her potential. Together, they can pull themselves away from their pasts, sometimes kicking and screaming, and into a brighter future.

I think what I love most about Ms. Day is her ability to weave basic human truths into what could otherwise be a simply fabulously written romantic fantasy. Sigvard shows that we all need to be kinder to ourselves. Don't let your past define your future. Allow yourself to move on from mistakes, whether others forgive you or not. That type of burden can tear you apart if left to fester.

Thank you for the ride from Regna's clouds on wyvern back to the very depths of Helig's realm. It has been quite a journey.

Where to begin? I guess at the beginning... I was scrolling through facebook and saw an advertisement for a book about a woman stolen by a Barbarian Warrior to be his Captive Bride. Now, who doesn't enjoy a good alpha male, right? That book was Hollen and his fierce redhead... and from there I was hooked. I know everyone says that every book gets better, but let me be clear, every book gets better! Sigvard is the youngest, but certainly not the least amongst his brothers. Adira is a woman to be reckoned with, a mate worthy to be a Dothriki bride! Their story is one full of angst and passion and loyalty to their tribe and each other. I loved how they were both uncertain and yet could not fight the pull of their destined other half. I received an ARC and so I do want to warn that for some people there are some triggers to the story. The lovely couple receives a HEA ending and there is no cheating in the story. Do yourself a favor and read it, you will not be disappointed!

I just read all 5 books in four days and no ragrets

Sigvard could rip my heart out with his bare hands and I’d say thank you. No, really. Because it’s already his.
This book was angst, angst, and more angst. The pining, the desperation, the passion. Warning: very high risk you will fall in love.
If you’re debating starting this series because like me, you don’t typically like book series that don’t focus on the same main character in each book, hear me out: TRY THIS ONE!!!
I tried Erik the Tempered because I loved Hollen, and I fell so in love that I stayed for the rest. Each book is so beautifully unique in its own way that these characters are as real to me as childhood friends I’ve known all my life.
Each brother has his own quirks and secrets, weaknesses and strengths, and the extraordinary women are no different, Adira included. I hope you read this series and love it as much as I do, because the Dokiri Brides officially knocked ACOTAR off its place of honor on my shelf.
I’m desperate for more, but Denali Day knocked this ending out of the park, like I knew she would!

I just finished reading Sigvard the Nameless (Dokiri Brides, #5) by Denali Day. This was the 5th novel and culmination of the series about the Dokiri tribe of Bedmeg. As a devoted Dokiri reader might expect, Denali Day did not disappoint with her exciting 114,298 word finale in which she weaves a dramatic and complicated plot along with a hero’s journey, both external and internal, for several of the main characters. Once I started this novel, I devoured it quickly because I had to know how the novel and the series ended!

Sigvard volunteers for a very dangerous assignment: to go to the Arcane Order and broker a deal for a geomancer to assist the Dokiri in “waking the mountain” and the destroying the evil veligiri who live within it. If the Council refuses the deal, then Sigvard will “steal” a female geomancer and make her his bride in order to complete the mission. Sigvard volunteered himself for this mission because he felt he owes his brothers and the Dokiri people to save them, but more importantly—Sigvard sees himself as expendable and unworthy of marriage. In his youth, Sigvard was both care-free and careless, and sadly his brother Hollen and his then bide-to-be Jocelyn paid the price. Sigvard could not forgive himself for what happened, nor could he forget.

Adira, the geomancer “taken” from the Arcane Order by Sigvard, Hagen, and Callum, is a young woman who is terrified by who she is and her powers. Talmar Ovesen, an old Grand Mage, groomed Adira from a young age to be fully dependent on him and later took advantage of her when she was older as his consort. Adira is mentally torn between needing Talmar’s experience so she does not injure others with her uncontrollable powers, yet another part of her yearns to be free and experience the world.

The long journey on horseback is arduous for Sigvard, Callum, and Adira but a bond slowly begins to form between Sigvard and Adira. Will each overcome his/her internal conflicts to look beyond his/her own hurt? When they are rescued by Ragnar and other, will Adira and Sigvard put aside their differences and work toward the common goal of waking the mountain and saving the world? Will they accept their destiny? And more importantly, what lies ahead as the future of the Dokiri?

I received an ARC from the author to review. First, this whole series is absolutely amazing. The storylines and characters are so well written, it keeps you enthralled from page to page.
The final book in this series was my favorite hands down. Sigvard’s character is first introduced in Hollen the Soulless as a young, carefree younger sibling full of wit and charm. When his youthful, albeit innocent indiscretion causes his brother to nearly loose his beloved, Sigvard changes. Throughout the entire series we see his character loose that charm and wit, the weight of guilt is nearly suffocating. In his book, that guilt and pain is lifted by the love of his own. He fights it of course, but in the end, he finds forgiveness and his own happiness. And of course what he really yearns for… a name. While falling in love, the monsters both real and imaginative are defeated.
For fans of fantasy or even the hopeless romantic, this book/series will not disappoint. Beautifully written and masterfully clever, this deserves 5 stars and so much more!

Welp, this was disappointing. Our little heroine was treated to a not fun weeks long trek through the woods with Sigvard and third wheel Callum. For some reason their dragons ( excuse me wyverns or whatever) disappear on them so they can’t fly. Then it takes forever to take take down the mountain, there is zero chemistry between these two and a lot of people get killed. The end. 2 1/2 stars ✨

The last book in the Dokiri Brides series is here and it was absolutely fantastic! The final book centers around the youngest brother Sigvard and his quest to claim a bride and save his world. Sigvard’s story is truly one of sadness and self loathing, but a spark of hope exists in the form of Adira, she turns the tide for Sigvard; and the story changed to one of readiness and redemption.

Sigvard and Adria were such strong characters and I adored their growth through the story. Both of them having such mental hardships to overcome and overcome they did; finding solace in one another, gaining the courage to accept their pasts and take positive steps toward their future. I loved it! The writing in this book is so well done. Denali’s ability to capture character emotion is really phenomenal. The scene at the end when Hollen and Sigvard have their talk was beautiful! This was a wonderful conclusion to a truly captivating series.

My only criticism of the story is it honestly could’ve been longer. I would have liked more time with both Adira and Sigvard developing their relationship. I felt like there weren’t enough scenes showcasing their developing feelings. I also would have like more information on the order. However, I do understand the need to advance the plot with this being the last book in the series.

If you haven’t picked up this series you are truly missing out. It is one of amazing characters, excellent world building and beautiful romances. I cannot recommend it enough. I really need to buy the paperback versions of books 3-5 so I can take a beautiful picture of them altogether.

The last book in the series does not disappoint and although I connected more with Magnus and Nadine, I really liked the hard and powerful process that Sigvard and Adira went through.
In the fifth book we meet again Sigvard who underwent a shake-up and a dramatic change in the first book. From a free young boy, full of dreams and aspirations he becomes a tormented man, full of such strong self-hatred that he is in fact almost dead alive . He gives up every possible future for him and is willing to sacrifice his life for the sake of the tribe.
Adira, who all her life has been brutally manipulated and who was imprisoned in a wizard's Order , is a very lonely girl with enormous powers but she doesn't know how to control it and is afraid of herself.
She too, like Sigvard, has demons that stop her from realizing her potential and being whole with herself.
The two main characters are very tragic characters but in a difficult journey , they manage to reinforce each other. The process is described very beautifully and very touching . It has its ups and downs and the excellent writing in the third person gives the possibility to be very empathetic with the dilemmas and thoughts of both Sigvard and Adira.
I loved the element of fantasy that is expressed in the mighty powers of Adira and the other characters around them.
While in previous books the fantasy has focused almost exclusively on inhuman creatures, here supernatural things happen and it adds a lot to the story.
The truth is I was expecting a little more from the final solution to the problem, mainly because it ends a long series with lots of events and characters, but I really enjoyed it anyway and have no doubt I will read more Denali's books in the future.

Wow! Where to even begin!?
This book was a beautiful and picturesque ending to this heart warming series. Sigvard and Adira's story is one of perseverance and hope. They believe themselves unworthy of so much and yet they have the brightest of destinies. Adira is so genuinely pure of heart and yet her power makes her destruction incarnate. Her struggle over the control of this power, is a main theme throughout the book. I was very relieved to find that it was not a quick fix. So many times in books the hardships and struggles are skimped over, I was grateful to be able to live her struggle with her while I read. It made her triumph even more spectacular. Sigvard made me want to throw my kindle. Every time he began to open up or soften towards Adira, he had to lash out with the most hurtful verbal assaults. I found myself going:"Now why would you say that?" Or "what is wrong with you'! Luckily, Adira saw right through his pain and found him deserving anyway.
Additionally, I loved seeing the familiar faces and personalities of the other Dokiri and their(growing) families. It was like visiting an old friend. I am so pleased with the ending and can't wait to see where this author takes us next.

This was such an epic conclusion to the Dokiri Bride series.

Denali Day writes such complete characters that I am so sad to see this series end but what an ending it was!
Watching Sigvard, the youngest brother of the Dokiri men, grow up in the span of five books and discover what it means to work through the guilt that has been eating him up since book 1 is something I could read again and again.
Finding strength in ourselves and in others is a lesson learned in this story, as he learns what it means to deserve love and give love in return.
This. Was. Beautiful.
Not only the characters but the world itself is so vividly described in all books that I will be returning to Begmeg again and again because it feels like home now.

Hollen may be my favorite of the Dokiri Brothers but Sigvard is a very close second.

Is it really over? Excuse me while I go sob for awhile!

This book! As always my hearts sings as I get back with the Na Dokiri and I was so eager to start reading! Sigvard is definitely the moodiest of the brothers and the guy you are not quite sure if you want to throttle or make out with (I'd go with the latter!)! However, long story short, Denali Day has once again created a book that will stay with me forever and all I can think about now is - I NEED MORE! Definitely one of my all time favourite series!

If you would have asked me two weeks ago who my favorite was, it would have been Hollen with Erik as a CLOSE second. But baby Sigvard, ya'll.... ugh. Damaged, flawed, broken, sweet. I am converted.

This author has stolen my whole heart with this series and the just swoooony romance. Her writing style is flawless and I adore her work. Sigvard was no exception and it's a GLOWING ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from this fellow author.

Pleasantly surprised

Me reading a brides book? Or anything even remotely in the romance category? Psshh never happens. Except , it did. I wasn't sure I'd like this book, but the premise was interesting. I was pleasantly surprised. This is more akin to what I think a romance book should be. An actual story that also has romance rather than a bunch of tawdry sex scenes with a little bit of story thrown in.

This is well-written with a good plot, good story, good character development, and good world-building. The characters are human with human flaws who learn and grow.

I'll be reading more from this author.

Ok to be honest I never thought that I would enjoy these series so much! This was an epic conclusion to a surprisingly good series. I am in love with all five female characters and their journey to find love but mostly to find themselves. They were all strong, unique and had beautiful souls.

I will defintely reread!

What a finale! I would have given it 5 stars, but it reminded me slightly of Eric's book with the whole "I don't deserve her" vibe (even though it was for totally different reasons). This did not stop me really enjoying it though, and it all came to a satisfying end for the series while letting the reader imagine the future for the clan. We get to see Sigvard go on a self-healing journey (along with his bride) which I was so glad of as I loved him in the first book.

I cannot shout about this series enough as a whole, and this book is no different. So much emotion and depth is embedded in these books, when I start I don't want to stop until finished. I will definitely re-read the series again, which I rarely do.

Bravo. Perfection. I can’t even right now. Such an amazing book and conclusion to a wonderful series. I’m shook. I can’t function. It’s over!?! Why is it over!?! I love this world so much. Erik is still my number one fav but Sigvard is a super close second. I just have to say. Read. These. Books.

I love this series! I remember seeing the first one as an ad on Facebook and was intrigued! I didn’t get steered wrong! Although at first I thought it was a dragon shifter book from the cover I wasn’t disappointed by the fact that they are wyvern riders! Enjoy the ride, I know I did

Thank you so much Denali for the chance of reading this final installment of a series I have come to absolutely love and adore. I have been fortunate enough to read an eARC of this book (an give an actual honest opinion ) and it exceeded my expectations wildly.

I cannot imagine a better way to end this series, where each book was connected yet independent. Sigvard, I fell in love with you in the first book and fell in love all over again in this final one. Sigvard goes through so much and he truly transforms as a character. Oh my god- Adira. What a woman. I love all the women in this series, they are their own people, different and unique, strong and weak and pure. They are true and I love Denali Day for writing women for women.

I read Sigvard the Nameless in one day (there goes my chore list but screw it, I had a much better time getting sucked into this marvelous story). You must read this series, no ifs ands or buts. The second and now fifth book are my absolute favorites, but all of them are truly fantastic.

Get sucked into a fantasy world of amazing and real women, harsh but amazing men, awesome wyvern’s and adventure, action and romance that makes you feel so many emotions. There is nothing like a book that you get sucked into the pages of.

Why are NONE of these reviews discussing the blatant victim shaming written into Sigvard’s character???

I was so excited to read Sigvard’s story after meeting him in the first book! How disappointing!
I truly have nothing else to say besides I loved this book until Sigvard started to victim blame Adira for what Talmar did to her and Sigvard was totally OK with Talmar grooming Adira. And then she basically enters a trauma induced coma because he doesn’t show her any sort of support. She really SHOULD have chosen Callum.

I’m fine with these being elements of a story and stepping stones IF a character grows through them and shows change but not when these are apart of a character’s final storyline. Why did the author write Sigvard as a victim blamer? It does not make sense for his character nor this series. It makes the characters vile and made me want to DNF this book when this part showed up.

The ONLY reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because I thoroughly enjoyed it up until this part and I enjoyed the ending.

I was so excited to finally get to read the conclusion to the Dokiri Riders series!! It feels like I’ve been waiting FORVER…aka about 2 months but FOREVER cause this series is so addictive!! I COULD NOT WAIT (obviously) to read the conclusion, find out what happened with the Soul Thieves, meet this mysterious mage, and, most of all, get to know the older Sigvard and read his story!! Denali did not disappoint!
Sigvard and Adira, the lady lead in this story, were both mired in guilt and dealing with past mistakes. This made for a very deep and interesting internal conflict for both of them. I especially liked seeing the incident from Book 1 from Sigvard’s perspective and understanding more about what he felt. There were also more than enough external conflicts and action to keep me engaged in the story. That said, while I really liked both Adira and Sigvard, neither were my favourite characters in this series (no one is knocking Tysha and Erik off that pedestal – MINE). I wish we had seen a little bit more of Sigvard’s younger personality peeping through. It does seem strange to me that someone who spent so much time joking around and was always in a good humour could change so drastically and completely, although a traumatic experience and guilt can do that, I guess. Adira was a little disappointing in that she was a bit too much of a maiden in distress who never quite seemed to find her own abilities. I kept expecting her to get a handle on her power and at least try, but it felt like she was always held back by her fears which didn’t always make sense to me.

As usual, the world building was phenomenal and gradual. We got to learn about the mages and magic without having to read pages of expose. Although I missed Bedmeg, I love how Denali yet again managed to creatively set her story in a different place from the other four, keeping her readers engaged and on the edge of their seats, waiting to see what happened next. I also enjoyed the brief glimpses of our previous ladies. I wish they had a little bit more interaction with Adira, but I understand why that wasn’t possible with this story.

One of my favourite parts was the traveling and Adira’s wonder at seeing the world. Travel is one of my greatest pleasures and something so important to me. I completely understand Adira’s desire to see the world – I loved the conclusion of the story! Also, the villain was super creepy and villainous. Probably one of the best evil nemesis characters in this series.

Overall in the series, I really liked how Denali made an effort to show different types of female leads: we have characters who are not interested in children right now, ones who can’t wait to have families, ladies who have different strengths such as leaders and warriors and healers, and ones who were experienced before they met their soulmates while others were not. All had a place in these stories, and I loved reading about them! A solid series which I would super recommend to anyone!

This series has such been a memorable and heart-warming experience. The Dokiri Bride series opened my mind up to the indie world and how many incredible series exist outside of mainstream big-name publishers. I have been utterly captivated by all the Dokiri men and their brides. Each and every book was unique as was each and every character. I feel so honored that I was chosen for the ARC review team. Sigvard’s story was the epic conclusion to this epic series.

The character development in this book is breathtaking. There has been amazing character work for the entire series, but Sigvard and Adira’s characters in this final installment is some of the best work Denali has ever done. Sigvard and Adira both help each other to confront their demons. One of my favorite scenes is when Sigvard is trying to convince Adira that she can control her powers but Adira basically tells him that she refuses to even try to control them unless he overcomes his fear of living in order to be with her. It was both kind of romantic and ironically funny at the same time.
Adira’s character is different than I expected it to be. I was thinking that she would be more of a Nadine-like character—fearless and brutal—because that is what Adira’s power demand she be. Instead, she is a timid, shy, and sweet. At least in the beginning, but of course her character develops and she saves the world singlehandedly and it was absolutely EPIC—but now I’m just fangirling. Sigvard helps Adira overcome her fear of herself and see how she had been manipulated for years. Adira, in turn, helps Sigvard learn how to live. Their relationship is utterly beautiful because together they make each other better people.

This is very much a character-driven book. I just wanted to point out that oftentimes character-driven books do not keep the reader’s interest as much and many times only readers will pick up those books. This book was just so well written that I found the character development leading up to the climax as interesting as I did the action scenes. I truly think that even those who don’t read as much would enjoy this series.

Sidenote: I’m an avid reader and—as such—I always read the Acknowledgements. I found the Acknowledgements in Sigvard strangely moving. I say this because whenever I’ve read Acknowledgements in main-stream published books all I usually find is a sterile list of names. Denali Day truly meant every word of gratitude to the people she thanked. And I found it refreshing. I hope that Denali is planning another series for I have become an avid fan. Sigvard the Nameless was a gorgeous conclusion to the Dokiri Brides series. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
