I gulped as my gaze finished its journey up the stone pathway to where Raythe and Mistress Hierond were standing beneath the beautiful, vine-covered archway- both smiling broadly in my direction. I practically began to float down the aisle. Step by step I moved forward, slowly approaching my future.
My heart sang as I met Raytheon’s tempest gaze. His normally stormy eyes were a clear, bright cobalt-grey and sparkling as they powerfully met mine. I felt like I could soar as I advanced ever closer, feeling the masses' eyes watching me as I passed. I almost shuddered as I felt the smooth stone beneath my bare feet, brushed gently from above by the fabric of my gown. The courtyard gardens were full of beautiful bushes and shrubbery, enrapturing our presence in a halo of greenery. The large fountain at the center of it all was a beautiful stone structure. As if several natural stones had been stacked precariously upon one another. Water clear as crystal flowed over the stones and gathered in a petal-filled pool. The vine-covered archway shadowed Raythe and Mistress Hierond from the harsh midday sun. My blood hummed with excitement. I felt my face light up as Raythe smiled at me. Ever closer I ventured, and as the drums crescendoed, I took my final steps towards him. Then, time seemed to slow to a stop as Raythe’s smile disappeared and my blood turned to acid in my veins.
The look on Raythe’s face turned from immaculate serenity, to absolute horror, to righteous fury in a split second as I saw him sprinting towards me. I turned just in time to see a blast of fire rain down from above, catching fire to the gardens around us.
