Note: It was always going to be tough following up Light Bringer, but I did read a series that was losing momentum for me on purpose. If I am extra harsh it may be a reflection of Pierce Brown giving me grand expectations.
If this were a bestselling author I’d probably give it two stars but I think this series has had bright spots and I want to support the author. This book was another weaker installment, much weaker than even book 3. The first two books were strong but I can’t just get behind this series much anymore. The villains are all carbon copies of each other. Most of the characters share similar mannerisms, and the metaphors and language in the writing has grown repetitive. It just felt like the last two books have been nothing but filler, which a filler centered book just shouldn’t exist. Each installation needs to have stakes and this one had a lot of conversations and too much focus on side POV’s. Why was the president a necessary character at all here? Plot lines moved pretty much nowhere until the last 30 pages and the major fight wasn’t exciting at all. The first book had so much energy and action, this felt like an intentional drag to expand to different books. Idk if there will be a 5th book. It’s not out yet so the author may have retired/been delayed but I still think there’s good story to tell, it just needs to get back to what made it great in the first place.
I thought this was the last book in the series…. No idea why I thought that but it’s not…. There’s at least one more. Really enjoy this series and the character. Foster is still kicking ass and taking names. The guardians are up to their no good antics. All in all another solid addition to this series. Really ready for more of the Angel Vasquez story line. Brian Callanan did a great job narrating. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Where’s book 5? It’s been 18 months since Wretched Aftermath was released. I rarely follow up on the last book in a series if they aren’t published in a timely manner because I forget what happened/plot/storyline and about each character. There are so many options out there, I can’t be bothered to reread what I’ve read and that’s telling in itself. If I do have an inclination to reread it, then I purchase it cuz it was that good. I have not purchased this series.
This series of books are the best I have read in a long time !!! They are spell bounding and literally I can't put them down until I am done with them. Kudos to this E.G Michaels !! The only thing I am disappointed with is that book 5 wasn't available on Kindel yet and it seems whenever this happens with other book series I can never seem to find it whenever it comes out, I would really like to get book 5 and finish this series op. God Bless
The Battle continues with the Reapers and Foster and his group are trapped in a small town. They are battling the Disciples and the Reapers at the same time. Will they catch a break and escape. Haas begins plotting his revenge and new allies are formed. No spoilers! Read this series! I cannot wait for the next book, hunt, hunt it has been almost 2 years.
The series has a great storyline based upon possible human extinction events. It as a well defined group of characters that easily transitions from book to book. Characters bring their own strengths and weaknesses that advance their storyline and the overall story itself.
I’ve been reading this series on Kindle and only put it down for specific reasons like to eat, shower and sleep. When I’m driving I’m listening to it. I absolutely love it. Now I’m trying to locate Wretched Uprising. Can’t wait to read it and Black’s book.
Foster, Sams and the remaining keep hidden to keep from the Reapers and the Guardians that joined them. They are out numbered and have to keep searching for ammo and supplies. Silas is the head of the Guardians and has it out for Foster. This is a continuation of this series and is action packed.
Would definitely recommend that all horror and zombie genre fans read it! Great story, it wasn't what I was expecting but it was great anyway! I now need track down more books from this author ☺
I just finished book four and can take a deep breath! But not for long! Can't wait to find out what Foster and Sam will do next! And what about Angel? I'm rooting for her!
ahhhhh nooooo!!! He's still working on the next book?! It's gonna kill me to wait for it!
Excellent series! Excellent book! It kept on going full throttle straight till the end of the book. Series continues with a fifth book, but I don't believe it's out yet to date.
Wonderful read . kept me up for too many hours reading. Till my eyes were blurry and I couldn't see any more. I sure hope the next book is coming out soon.
