MATT MARK LUKE JOHN: The NIV books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John

Rate this book
In the Bible, there are four biographies of Jesus written by master storytellers. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John all tell the story of Jesus’ time on earth from unique perspectives with the goal of convincing every reader that Jesus is good and worth following. Over the years, though, to make it more “readable” people added things to these biographies (also called “gospels”). They broke the biographies up into chapters, and added numbers to mark “verses” and even put the words into columns. Again, this was to help make these Jesus stories easier to read. But, to me, all of those things can actually make it more difficult to read. I don’t like the stories of Jesus feeling like a textbook. I like the stories of Jesus feeling like… stories. So, I took the stories of Jesus, removed those numbers and titles and columns… and gave the words breathing room so they can tell the story of Jesus as well as possible. Whether it’s your first time reading these stories or your hundredth, I hope you get a sense of the power of the story of Jesus and how He’s good and loving and worth trusting. I hope His story impacts the story you’re living.
