Booby Moon is a beautifully illustrated rhyming storybook specifically designed to emotionally support both mother and child for weaning from breastfeeding.Weaning doesn’t have to be all tears, tantrums and heart ache. It can be an exciting, heartwarming, and beautiful experience to treasure. A chance to celebrate a milestone reached, honour the journey thus far and acknowledge this special time for both mother and child. Most weaning storybooks introduce the concept that breastfeeding will be ending soon. Booby Moon does that, but so much more.It gives A magical story they connect with.A celebration to look forward to.Evidence of Booby Milk leaving.A beautiful ritual to help them say goodbye. In the same way that the Tooth Fairy makes children happy about their teeth falling out, looking forward to seeing Booby-milk-magic fly away to Booby Moon can give the same wondrous joy to a weaning toddler. Our experience using Booby Moon for weaning our boob-mad 2-year-old was incredible. After we said goodbye to Booby Milk, he simply accepted that it was gone. He still asked for it occasionally but whenever he did we reminded him of how we had let it go and there were no complaints, no pleading, no tears. Instead, excitement and joy would rush to his little face and he would say, “Yeah, I let go! And Booby went shhhhheewww up to the moon!”Booby Moon is special because it has a magical element that appeals to the child and also sets up a beautiful ritual to complete the breastfeeding journey. Studies show the practice of ritual during times of loss alleviates grief, makes us feel closer to our families and helps us to say goodbye. The ritual aspect of the Booby Moon process helps mother and toddler find an easeful acceptance for Booby Milk going away – with the child seeing the magic leave with their own eyes. The story also brings comfort post weaning, offering reassurance that the relationship continues; you can still wave up to Booby Moon and Mumma will still be here to offer love, cuddles and comfort.Look up to the moon, isn’t it amazing?Doesn’t it seem magical already?Half the work is done for us right there.Book also includes a gentle-parenting user guide that how to wean using Booby Moon, night weaning prior, breaking the fed-to-sleep habit and various options for a meaningful goodbye ritual. The concept was created in 2020 by a breastfeeding mother who was ready to wean but could not find a children's book on the market that offered her toddler an upside to their impending loss. Using the 'Booby Moon' story was such an easy and beautiful experience that it needs to be shared with parents around the world.Suitable age 18months - 4 Book features an illustration of a mother cuddling her toddler to sleep instead of nursing them at night (bed-sharing).

Booby Moon is a beautiful picture book to help with the end of the breastfeeding journey.
I'll admit, while I was excited to give reading the book a go, I had a healthy amount of skepticism about how much it would help.
My 2yo son is what you would call a booby monster. He loved his booby. While our feeds had dropped to one or two a day, refusing him was very difficult and dropping feeds was always a drawn out process.
We read Booby Moon together for 3 weeks. I implemented a number of the suggestions in the back of the book to make the process more magical for him and easier for us.
I was very emotional the first dozen times I read the book. It is beautifully written and illustrated and really touches on the intense bond that breastfeeding fosters and how hard that can be to give up, for both mum and child.
The night of my son's last breastfeed we did a special cake and a celebration and reminded him that we were saying goodbye to booby.
And I held my breath.
I did not expect what happened the next day.
My son did not ask for booby that day. For the first time ever. He mentioned it once, I reminded him we said goodbye to booby and he replied I KNOW.
I thought some of the book might have had an effect on him, but I did not expect such an immediate and magical change.
He hasn't fed or asked to feed since.
I am totally in debt to Yvette and her amazing book. It helped us through something I was very apprehensive about, and made the experience something positive for my son. I am still in a bit of disbelief about how well it worked, while being respectful of him and making it a celebration at the same time.
I can highly recommend this book to any parent wanting to wean their breastfeeding toddler. It's really been a highlight of my parenting journey - something that I got right.

I bought a couple of weaning books for Lily, then decided that I wasn't quite ready to wean her yet. Still, I found this book to be a sweet idea for a weaning ritual in a culture that lacks any such thing to provide closure for those who have chosen to breastfeed into the toddler years.

The author includes very detailed information in the back of the book with suggestions on how to go about the process. The illustrations are beautiful--I like the style.

I think this book could be really great for moms who want to end breastfeeding at a specific point in time. Whether I will use it that way remains to be seen!

It is my favourite bedtime story book.

Very easy for little toddlers to understand the illustrations and love the author's description for weaning process.

This was an interesting book about weaning. It is a child's explanation of why weaning needs to happen. Not altogether thrilled by the use of the term "booby" as many of the breastfeeding mothers who used that term for breasts ended up regreting it.
The explanation of why nursing has to stop is one that would make sense to a toddler, just as the tooth fairy does to a young child.
Some of the comments in the mother's section of the book make me uncomfortable. In several places the author tells the mother to follow her feelings about weaning. I definitely approve of that. On the other hand, when she is discussing weaning from night time feedings, she talks about the child crying. To my way of thinking, if the child is crying, I believe that it's time to take a step back from weaning and try again at a later time. They are probably just not ready.
By the same token, I do realize that not all mothers have the choice about whether to wean or not.
Follow your instincts.

Trying this out!
Seems pretty well written, relatable to my almost 2 yo, and artwork is quite attractive though not really my style. I don’t know if it will help with weaning yet, we’re approaching it in a low pressure way, and I like using this book simply to broach the subject and get him used to the idea of a meaningful goodbye.

4.5 stars! Rating it not based on how helpful it is to weaning but it’s really just great to have and read together anyway.

This is a beautifully illustrated book about weaning which helps your little ones prepare to move off of breast milk and onto food. I love the colours, the simplicity of the story and the heart warming message.

Wasn't for me. I like the idea of using ritual and fairy tales to mark milestones, but I didn't like this one.
