Discover the remarkable life of Nelson Mandela... Nelson Mandela is a figure who has been revered throughout the world. Even his enemies eventually had to admit that there was something extraordinary about Nelson Mandela; he was the kind of bold yet gracious leader who only comes once in a lifetime. Mandela led his people to freedom, became the first president of his nation, and then—like some South African George Washington—humbly stepped down from power so that he could pass the torch of democracy to others. This is his life and his story.

This was an excellent read. I really didn't Know that much about Nelson Mandela, just what you heard on the news. I find him to be a very interesting and recommend this book for everyone
A remarkably well articulated description of a remarkable personality. His strength of character, on occasions rebellious, comes forth eloquently in the book. Also comes through is the large heartedness of a man who was incarcerated for so long yet did not harbor any ill will against his captors.
The book is precise , rich and clear. Persons of varying ages, races and social status will like it and benefit a great deal. It's simplicity, wide coverage and social value rates it highly.
Covers Nelson Mandela's life concisely from beginning to end. The only things it is really missing is explaining what exactly the South African government had been doing and what exactly Nelson Mandela did to improve things.
Recently, I read another Nelson Mandela biography, and I found this one more engaging. The author spends considerable time explaining Nelson's younger years and the people who helped shape him. Another thing I liked was the explanation (although short) of Winnie's conviction (Winnie was Nelson's second wife). This is an inspiring book about a man who went from prison to president of South Africa. Overall score = 4.5 stars.
Nelson Mandela was such an incredible historical figure. This book was such a great read, and I enjoyed learning more about his life and activism in South Africa.
