The body of a woman is discovered in a cemetery, disturbed by foxes after being roughly interred upon the grave of another.
Police assume it is the work of someone who could not afford to give their loved one a proper burial.
Forensics throw a spanner in the works. The death is indeed suspicious, and a murder book is opened. The race is on to identify the victim and get to the bottom of this bizarre case.
But DI Jordan Carr and his small team struggle to get a breakthrough. His boss is displeased and on the verge of reassigning the inquiry until they discover it has happened before.
With the pressure mounting, and a clear link between the victims less than forthcoming, will Carr keep his cool head in the face of a calculating killer?
BODY OUT OF PLACE is the third book in the DI Jordan Carr series of mysteries based in Liverpool. Look out for the other books, BODY ON THE SHORE and BODY BY THE DOCKS, also free with Kindle Unlimited and available in paperback.
DI Carr & company catch a case of extra bodies being placed in new graves. With no i.d. of the victims, and very little to go on, the team goes off in different directions trying to get a handle on who would do such a thing and why. The plot is a bit complicated and it takes a bit to get the set up going, but about halfway in the story takes off. Good read. Great whodunit for your winter evening reading.
Another delicious mystery from Diane Dickson. As always, the story is gripping and the twists unexpected. DI Jordan Carr is a fascinating main character and this particular crime scene is riveting. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good crime story.
I enjoy this author's work, and this one is one if the best yet. DI Carr, who is disliked by his boss, has a tough job mustering the resources to catch a damaged and ruthless criminal who is preying on old people. His unusual way of disposing of the bodies has police foxed for a time, but eventually, Carr untangles the evidence to catch the perpetrator in an unusual final twist to the story.
DI Carr faces a mystery when the body of an old woman is found buried very shallow atop of a new grave. But she is not the only victim which has been left in this unusual position and Jordan and his team have their work cut out to identify the victims so they can proceed finding the killer. What was very interesting but also disturbing was the narrative in which the killer is taunting and victimising his next victim.
Enjoyed this book a lot am finding with all books in serious ALL HAVE UNUSUAL STORYLINES WHICH MAKES FOR INTERESTING READS SO not just your normal sick murderers there is unusual storylines that non the less hold your interest. if I had any complaint it’s just the ends are a bit shallow compared to content of rest of book
Exciting, gripping, emotional. An excellent read for those who like a detective story. You won’t be able to put it down. If you’re a Liverpudlian you’ll enjoy all the local references.
I’ve read a few of these now and feel I am getting to know the characters The author does a good job creating well rounded and diverse characters who are interesting and believable
