There are many words to describe Parker Lazarus. Some call him stubborn. Some call him impossible. Some call him a liar. He doesn’t care what anyone calls him, as long as he fulfills his destiny to rid the world of the fanatical Syndicate and leads his family to victory. Of his seven siblings, six have found their lifemate. But it should have been him first. He battles the deadly sin of pride, and he accepts no failure. Especially his own.
When Parker finds out his mate has been under his nose for years, an assassin masquerading as his assistant, his controlled world is thrown into chaos. Not only does he lose his arm because of his unwillingness to accept this truth, but he loses himself when she challenges him in ways he’d never thought possible. How did this woman slip past his defenses? How does she continue to defy him at every turn? Why does he risk everything – even his secret identity – to keep her safe?
Pride becomes more than another word to describe him. It becomes his downfall. And if he can’t learn to open himself up to failure, and to trust the help of loved ones, then his pride will pave the road to destruction. Not just for the Syndicate, but for all mankind.
Lana lives in Perth, Western Australia and loves writing Paranormal/ Fantasy and Sci-fi Romance. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her creating art and designing book covers. She also fights evil by moonlight, wins love by daylight and never runs from a real fight.
I figured Parker’s story would be a roller coaster and it turned out to be my favorite book of the bunch-a loosely based Beauty and the Beast/office romance!
I loved the dynamics between Parker and Alice-the irony of her being his person was poetic! The banter, the push and pull, and oh my…the steaminess of their intimacy with a couple of beautifully done Shibari scenes were sizzling! Thank you, Lana for the smexy epilogue to tie things up a bit!
The pursuit is heating up to bring down the Syndicate, the replicates, and color me surprised with the Sisterhood! Lana has left things poised for what I’m hoping is an amazing finale. The dramatically twisty turns the Lazarus family is facing leaves me highly anticipating Daisy’s book. I have a feeling it will be one of my best reads for next year!
It's been almost nine months since I read Lust, the previous book in the series and I have been (im)patiently waiting for Pride! Parker - the sexy, broody, arrogant Lazarus sibling has always been the one I'd wanted to read the most about and it took quite a while before I could finally read his book! It was just two years back when I came across Envy(book one) when I was searching for new books to read on KU and that blurb with the superhero romance tag really pulled me in! It's been quite a journey reading all the previous six books that feature each of the Lazarus siblings.
In Pride, we have Parker Lazarus, the eldest among the siblings and the last one to find his mate. Among the Deadly Seven, he senses Pride, and I think he's the only one among them who is the perfect embodiment of the sin in terms of character. He is arrogant, proud and thinks he knows the best. He's hard on everyone and he has always been the hardest on himself. When I came across his character during the previous reads, I'd always wonder 'With this attitude what kind of mate would he find?'. And this was a sentiment that was echoed by almost all of his family members lol. :D
That's when we come across Alice, his assistant, the one person who flew under everyone's radar and ended up giving us the biggest surprise. Turns out she's a Sinner, an assassin trained by the very organization that Mary(Parker's adoptive mother) belonged to and the same one that wanted to have him and his siblings killed if they were to be a threat to this world. For two years no one ever realized that the nerdy and capable assistant beside him was a capable killer. And it is a bigger shock when she turns out to be his mate. As one would expect, this hits Parker hard right in his pride(and heart).
It takes a while for Parker to deal with this revelation and his pride makes him do stupid stuff like losing his arm rather than accepting help and pushing Alice away when she wants to try to broker an alliance between the Sinners and the Deadly Seven. *rolls eyes* He was a stubborn idiot but a sexy and admirable one! ;) And Alice was the perfect mate for him. Don't be fooled by her nerdy assistant persona, but she's a level-headed and extremely capable woman who takes no shit from anyone. She knows how to put Parker in his place and how to be there for him when no one else is. I think I loved this pairing the most among all the siblings and I relished the slow development of the relationship and how they began to trust each other enough to show their vulnerable sides.
"Apparently, Alice was his mate. She was supposed to be by his side, but she needed to know what that entailed. There were all these expectations, and neither of them knew what they wanted or needed. Parker sighed, already looking like he’d given up."
Parker has to deal with a lot of things that end up forcing him to put down his pride and arrogance. While he's used to doing things his own way, after a few botched-up plans(that he was very confident in), he ends up realizing that he doesn't need to shoulder all the burden and learns to make concessions. I think he was the most real one among the family members and I loved watching his character grow. He also grows to admire Alice's tenacity and as he falls in love with her, he realizes that he doesn't always need to be the perfect version of himself. On the other hand, Alice also learns to put aside the things that were taught to her by the Sinners as she discovers that she doesn't always need to atone for the sins that she was forced to commit. The sexual tension between them could almost set my kindle on fire and don't get me started on the Shibari play! *fans self*
“Alice. I’m going to spend my life proving that you’re not going to Hell and Heaven is here with me. Do you understand?”
After reading all the books in the series I'm really amazed by the character development and the amount of thought that the author has put into world-building and the overall plot! Each book has been better than the one before, with Pride being the best so far! We've also got some new developments where we end up discovering that there might be a bigger threat than the Syndicate waiting for our characters. These twists and turns blew my mind and I literally couldn't put my kindle down while reading, as I was so excited to find out what would happen next. The last few chapter had me on the edge of my seat worrying about what would happen to my favorite characters! And I'm actually surprised that the other siblings didn't hit Parker for the crazy plan that he concocted. They showed a lot of restraint! As always, I'm amazed by the tacit understanding between them and how they're always there for each other through thick and thin!
Also, that ending?! For the love of god, please give me the next book asap! I'm really worried for everyone and the situation with Daisy's newfound mate(no spoilers here) has me feeling so sad. This poor girl really needs a lot of good things to happen to her and I'm hoping that the author can fulfill mine(and Daisy's hopes! Hah, see what I did there?) in Book 8. Else, I'm gonna be heartbroken!

I've been wanting Prides story from the beginning. Parker seems so put together and arrogant when you look at him from the outside so I was excited to get to know the real person. In this book we get to see inside Parker/Pride as he struggles to accept himself and let go of some of his control. I love Alice as his mate she's kick ass and can handle her own but also has a soft and vulnerable side to her. Together the bring the best out of each other and learn it's okay to lean on others This series is a must read for anyone who loves a hero story with a twist.
Title: Pride Author: Lana Pecherczyk Genre: Contemporary Paranormal/Fantasy Romance This is a series to savor. Some books let the heat/steam lead the story and others the story leads to the heat/steam. This particular book is the latter and that's fine. As with all the books in this series there is lots of action and suspense; especially since we are nearing the end of the series it is very intense. A smattering of snarky verbal repertoire. Yet, in the end it truly is about relationships and connections. Seeing how much people need each other; need their clan, their people. Heck, we need each other in general for the good of the world. We come from different places, genetics, populations, cultures but without each other we fall into unhealthy habits and lifestyles. There is no balance unless we all come together in perfect love and perfect trust. Maybe the flower children culture had something correct. Truly great read for pleasure and intelligent reflection. This author has what it takes to leave a lasting mark on the literary world. Kudos. **RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW**
Okay, similar problem to the first book. I didn’t care about the characters, the romance or the plot. And so, this book was brutally slow. Parker was one of my favorite siblings in previous books, but having him as a main character made me dislike him so much. He was very conceited and prideful. I guess I prefer him in small doses. Alice was alright, but there wasn’t anything about her that made me curious to want to know more about her. The storyline also wasn’t as strong as in the previous books.
The ending does set up the final book pretty well though. Daisy’s journey has always intrigued me and I’m happy she gets her own book and hopefully happily ever after. Even though I didn’t enjoy this one, I’m still looking forward to seeing how everything ends.
In the eighth book of Deadly Seven, we have the infamous Parker Lazarus and his pride. I confess that I premeditated my hate for him, and even in the final I realize that he isn’t the best brother for me. Parker is the personification of Pride and his stubbornness to always be the perfect guy and the clever one made the half of mistakes and obstacles in this book concretize. Alice, in opposite, defies him (THANK GOD) and is the perfect balance for Parker. It’s a good book (Lana always made a good story) and definitely can’t wait to read Daisy's book.
Parker is a cocky bastard who thinks no lol be can do better than him. Fighting against the pull heal feels towards his mate, Alice, he makes some decisions that will effect the entire family.
This book had me in tears at the beginning and end. Parker character is such a lost man that he doesn’t know he’s drowning until Alice pulls him from the roaring waves. The development of their relationship felt natural and vulnerable in a way that none of the others did. They struggled to accept their feeling not only about each other but about themselves. This book wasn’t just about accepting each other but accepting the faults and fears within themselves.
Just when I think the Syndicate is the only issue, new horrible things are brought into the mix. The author has a way of surprising the reader in a good way. I was never left guessing how things would pan out and I loved it. I can’t wait for Daisy’s book though I feel that it may be the most heartbreaking but best of them all.
That book was everything I wanted for our resident prideful vigilante! I loved every minute of it, at least until the end where I cannot believe that happened?!?! I love seeing Parker brought down a few pegs, his family has been trying for years & all it took was Alice.
Alice is such a perfect match to Parker, and yet they are weirdly similar. I love her interaction with Parker and the rest of the family.
This book took some twists that I absolutely did not expect. So well done Lana! I adored everything about this book, even that ending, which I loved but am seriously mad about too.
I cannot wait to see how this series wraps up in the last book. This has always been one of my favorite series & each book keeps on getting better. If you love superheroes you definitely need to give this series a try!
I had my ups and downs with Parker throughout the series. He's direct but harsh and a lot of the times his Pride gets in the way. The way we start this book got me nervous because i thought i was in for a rejected mate scenario but that quickly changed. Parker's first encounter with Alice was bada$$ but yet again his fear and pride got in the way and guess what? It literally costed him a limb. Can't say he didn't had it coming but it was enlightening watching him adapt to his situation but also to know what was going on in his mind and understanding how his brain worked. I very much enjoyed Parker and by page 156 I loved him. He's not that hard to love once you know him however he can be mean when someone gets to close to see the real him meaning Alice. Parker's superpower was very interesting and I must say that it fits him very well. Alice was a double character as well as a bada$$ one much like Mary so i enjoyed getting to know more about her and the Sisterhood. She was also in love with Parker way before he even noticed her but she didn't let that get in her way... much. The whole thing the Sisterhood preached to her was what got to me with this story. The whole Hell and Heaven thing and what Alice thought about herself was a bit much for me. I mean obviously in this world Hell can exist if Lana chooses to but still... Parker swallowed a humble pie and it was the best. He eventually learned from his mistakes and that's what i wanted and expected of him. The Shibari hobby Parker had was unexpected but so very much appreciated. I loved how it was sensual but not sexual and it was helpful. However i wish we had a scene where Parker delivered on what he promised, you know the sexual part. Their sexy times was still good though.
I loved everything involving Daisy aka Despair! I also had my ups and downs with her and rightfully so but now we're at a point where we ( me and the Deadly Seven 😅) want Daisy home. She suffered enough. That's not to say, i want everyone to forgive her right away but she can still be home and work towards forgiveness. I'm looking forward to see what will be Wyatt's reaction. The moment Axel showed up in the book ( i didn't even knew his name yet) i knew he was Daisy's mate. A Fireman no less. Everything is up in the air with him though and i honestly don't know what to expect from Despair but i'm guessing Daisy's power is gonna help Axel's predicament since she's the perfect made person/sin/sibling and since we don't know what superpower she has, i'm assuming it's gonna be vital to the story. Maybe she has the power to bring the death back to life . 🤔
On another note Julius went batsh** crazy. Can't say i haven't seen that coming, it was a matter of time. He is just a horrible person. At first i sort of gave him the benefit of the doubt since he was doing bad things because he wanted her daughter and wife but dude... enough is enough. Can't wait to watch him burn in Despair!
Wowzers!!! This is a full five stars. Pride or Parker, has been a difficult character to like in most of the books so far. He’s been arrogant, full of himself, thinking he’s the bees knees and the best and smartest of the siblings. They love him and tolerate him and admit he’s the best leader but still insufferable. So when he meets his mate, she has to be just as strong.
She is. Alice is a member of a secret society known as the Sisters whose mission is to destroy the Deadly 7 should they go dark with their powers. And unbeknownst to Parker, she’s been working as his executive assistant for the past 2 years. She’s fully prepared to take him out should he go ‘bad’. She’s also in love with him but doesn’t know she’s his mate. And Parker doesn’t know she’s his until they touch and his hidden power is released. One thing I did find very interesting is he uses shibari as a way to relieve stress. Being a reader of romance I had heard of it of course but I didn’t know much other than it involves ropes and tying. Until this book I hadn’t read one that involved this particular ancient Japanese tradition. Interesting, very interesting and MOST erotic.
These are both such richly written and complex characters and so absolutely perfect for each other. Alice has no problem at all standing up to him and telling him no. And Parker lets her see his vulnerabilities and truly be himself. And they are both beset with them. Because Alice has been an assassin, she’s convinced she has no hope and is bound for hell. And Parker holds himself responsible for the loss of their sister Despair or Daisy. He thinks he has to be perfect in order to atone and his excess of pride and arrogance is just a cover.
I can’t recommend this series highly enough. I’m totally addicted to it. The final book, up next, is about Daisy, who was left behind when they escaped and thought dead but in reality has worked as an assassin for the Syndicate, the monsters the Deadly 7 have been fighting against.
Of all the books of this series, I liked this one the least. I've even given some of the other books of the series five stars, I loved them so much.
Pride is, well, prideful. His fall is obvious and painful. He is so deep into his Sin, and his siblings so used to him wallowing in it, that the fall is evitable. The boy needed a spanking more than his preferred fetish.
Overall, the story was a workable romance - but in a series with as many gems as this, workable looks like a lump of coal.
Pride does move the overall plot of the Deadly Seven forward. It does introduce some interesting turns, especially among the Sinners (an upcoming series is hinted at for them - and I would love to see Mary and Raven gets some true love of their owns). The metaphysical hints from the start of the series are finally condensing.
One of the worst parts is the huge payoff of the central relationship - is buried as a email-collection by the author presented as a special bonus epilogue available exclusively through her newsletter. Maybe if I got that relationship payoff, I would be happier with the book - but as it is, the conclusion feels very behind closed doors - even with the hot, hot sex scenes found throughout the book.
Final thoughts: If you are already invested in the overall series, it will be worth a read. Otherwise, read Gluttony or Greed or Sloth and get invested first.
Brilliant, billionaire Parker ‘Pride’ Lazarus’ assistant Alice Montgomery is undercover with for the Hildegard Sisterhood of Assassins, the same Order his adoptive mother Mary worked for. While gathering data on the Deadly Seven, Alice falls for Parker and regrets his refusal of her help during a battle left him with a debilitating injury after recognizing her as a ‘Sinner’.
Depressed and true to his sin, Parker’s insufferable as usual while he relives the battle and works on Aimi, when the family forces their way in, Parker goes to his office and realizes Alice was the Sinner at the battle and the mate who unlocked a new inner beast power in him. Allowing Alice to escape, Parker follows her to HSA’s Sinner HQ.
Surprised at Parker’s arrival, the Sinner’s share little but propose a partnership to thwart a threat more deadly than the syndicate on the horizon. Meanwhile, despondent Despair destroyed his means to reanimate his family, Julius takes Despair to various Syndicate bases for more painful torture; the Syndicate is almost out of time as Aimi is back in service!
This outing seemed to veer from the others a bit; though Alice has fleeting feelings of misery and sadness neither define her character. It’s fine to trade one enemy for another but the ease tase from enemy to frienemy make a lie of all that’s come before. Also, the new alliance is more like boss/employee than partnership. This reader scoffed at the developments. Rating: 3.5stars
I knew I was gonna love him the most. And I did. I do. Parker is the beast (minor spoiler, ha-ha). But he is such a gentle (sometimes) beast. So big and so fluffy. And so loving.
I feel like from them all he deserved to be loved the most. He kept everybody together for a long time. Everybody demanded perfection from him (even though nobody ever admitted to that, but that's how it is), and with his sin and being the eldest (not counting Despair here), he just HAD to be perfect. Spoiler alert: he is very much perfect for Alice.
Alice. I love a good female lead. Not succumbing to the hero's charm (well, not all the time at least), she stands on her own. I just love how imperfect she is. They fit so nicely together. I really was waiting for this book because I wanted to see what type of woman can wrap Parker around her boob. Yeah, only Alice could.
P.S. And Parker, being a control freak, likes to do what? Yes, you got it! So you're up for a good time. There would be a cute GIF here of a racoon rubbing his hands if I knew how to insert them. But I don't, so you got only a poor description of the named racoon.
I was waiting for this book for so long. What am I supposed to wait for now???
I was expecting this book so much since I knew that Parker’s mate was a Sinner, first because he needs a strong mate who will not be afraid of his personality and 2nd because they’re badass.
Parker is the most prideful of all, he likes to be in charge, to be the one to plan and he’s convinced that he didn’t do it cannot only go bad. But pride is the most sinful sin and the most dangerous, his pride led him to lose his arm and if he’s not careful he could lose even more. His family has bearred with his behaviour for all long, but now it’s time to bring some change. Alice is a Sinner, she was raised by the Sisterhood and after two years as Parker’s assistant, she tried to propose a truce with the Lazarus family to fight alongside each other against the Syndicate, because the Sisterhood knows that they are up to no good. She knows that she will have to be the last one standing if the Lazarus turn berserkers but it doesn’t prevent her to fall hard for Parker. As they each fight their nightmares, their deepest challenges, they will find each other and start their quest to find the lost Lazarus.
Such an amazing book, you can feel the end coming, the tension from the plot - I loved it and was so glad to meet the Sinners. I cannot wait to see them all again 🤩
Pride, like all of the other Deadly Seven books, is amazing! Once I started, I didn't want to put it down.
Parker aka Pride is struggling with his sin, but since he is Pride, it takes him longer to realize this. We met Alice, his mate, in the last Deadly Seven book, Lust, and found out that Alice is a Sinner or deadly assassin, however that's not what she wants. She's been striving towards an alliance with the Deadly Seven.
Throughout the book, you witness Parker's struggles not only with his new physical abilities but also with accepting himself and accepting letting others in. This book was beautiful in showing his struggles and how he overcomes them with the help of his mate, Alice.
Alice was a joy. I really liked who she was and how she grew into herself as well with the help of Parker. I think she may be my favorite mate of the series.
Without giving away any spoilers, you definitely need to read this book and if you haven't already, you need to read the other Deadly Seven books! I now can't wait for Despair to come out!
Lana has done it again with her Deadly Seven series. I was super excited for Pride because Parker has been that character I just wanted to get to know more, and Lana did not disappoint.
This book is as much a continuation of the overall plot as a deep dive into out control freak leader of the Deadly Seven. Parker is put into a position where he has no *real8 control, and it was so much fun to see how he handled it. As always, the FMC that Lana created, Alice, was the perfect match for our brooding, control freak. I loved Alice's strength and her devotion to not only her fellow Hildegrad sisiers, but also Parker. I also loved how their relationship was not just wham, bam, we fell in love. The tension in this book was *chef's kiss*. Also, the spice was Lana level, but never overpowered the plot that was being worked through.
Over this was another great installment for this series. Each book just keeps getting better and better. Be warned: there is a HUGE cliffhanger at the end, but don't worry, Lana will give us the HEA that wer are craving. Now I have to wait until next May for Despair to come out...I CAN'T WAIT!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Finally!! I’ve been waiting for this book for what FEELS like ages (it wasn’t, I promise) and it did NOT disappoint!
If you haven’t checked out this series yet, you absolutely have to. It’s the superhero romance series you’ve been dreaming of, and I highly recommend it.
This book tells the story of Pride, aka Parker Lazarus, billionaire genius leader of the Deadly 7, and CEO of Lazarus Tech. His coworkers/friends-to-lovers journey with Alice is one that’s been brewing for quite some time, and I thought it was lovely.
Parker represents the sin of Pride, and he’s not really tried to monitor it as much as some of his siblings have. As a result, he’s a rather… pride-ful person. Alice, however, is the assassin/assistant who is just the right person to put him in his place.
Fans of Marvel movies (who need just a little more kissing) will love this story!
Spice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 HEA: Ship-able 🚢 CW: Loss of limb, self-mutilation, religious dogma, trauma, fictional violence.
There's always something about watching an alpha male being brought down through his own hubris and Parker/Pride Lazarus doesn't disappoint. I love that the one to do this is Alice, a "Sinner," an assassin with the group that Parker's adoptive mother, Mary, who used to be a member of bent on destroying the Syndicate, even if it meant the death of Parker and his siblings. (That was one helluva run on sentence!) I also love that Parker has the perfect hobby to sooth his beast yet allows him to have complete control, which is necessary to him.
The tension builds up in this book leading up to the conclusion (I'm assuming) in the next and final book though I felt things ended rather to quickly and pat with the handling of the Syndicate world wide. This left me with a feeling of annoyance wondering about those taken and the time passing almost nonchalantly while the Deadly Seven are trying to locate them.
The bonus epilogue was a guilty pleasure and I'm diving right into the final book eagerly.
Parker (Pride) Lazarus lost his arm in the last book after meeting his mate. He let his pride get the best of him and instead of accepting her help, because he found her and she was a Sinner, he let go of her hand and fell into a meat grinder losing his arm in the process.
Alice had been Parker’s assistant for the last two years. She used this as a cover for her mission as a Sinner. However, when she finds out that she is Parker’s mate she will do anything to protect him and his family.
I loved these two strong characters together. They are a force to be reckoned with and they balance each other so well. They were definitely meant for each other!
I’m excited to see how all of this ends in the next/last book of the series. But, I’m also a little sad that Despair found her mate only for him to be dying. Can they save him and the other mates that were kidnapped? Will Julius finally get what he deserves? Will they all get the HEA that they have been fighting for? Guess there is only one way to find out…I’m going in!
Okay, I admit it. I DEVOURED this book from the moment I started until it ended. Parker Pride Lazarus’s story was wonderful. The way he struggled with his sin, how he dealt with what he felt were his battles, and how he interacted with Alice were spot on. What Alice has endured, how she feels about herself, and how she bonds with Parker were exactly what was needed for this pair to succeed. The idea of his tattoo and how it balanced from one side to the next was interesting. Yes, there is a cliffhanger type ending, but technically each book left us waiting to find out what was in store next for the Lazarus family, but maybe not to the extent this one did. Thank goodness for extended epilogues and the knowledge that there will be another book. There were twists and turns I didn’t see coming in this story, and I was as surprised as Pride when he realized what happened. Another well-written story from Lana. Why are we limited to 5 stars???
After loving Lust so much I couldn't wait to read Pride's book too. And it was such an adrenaline filled book, a lot of action, so many unexpected turn of things, his struggle to overcome his injury, Alice's letting go of her past and accepting that she deserves a future too, finding a new family with the Lazarus, etc.
And Parker 😁 he is so proud of Alice that literally makes him unbalanced. But she deserves all the praise because she is badass. Nothing stops her 😊 They are just perfect for each other ❤️
Pride's book gave some The Winter Soldier meet Warrior Nun meet Beauty and The Beast (tv show with Kristin Kreuk) vibe that made me think that this series surely deserves to be turned into a tv show 😍
P. S.: After a glimpse on Daisy's story I think this next book will be heartbreaking. And can't wait to read it.
Thank the author for giving me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest opinion.
'Wrapping a lion in Armani didn't change the fact it was still a beast.'
Could not put this down. Picking up from the aftermath of Lust, Parker is dealing with the physical implications of his run in with the Sinner Alice & finding out she is his mate. I loved the slow build of trust between Parker & Alice & over the course of the book Parker is forced to face his pride & the implications it has on those around him. Alice was a great kick ass heroine with such a vulnerable side, she made such a great match for Parker. I loved that even though they had to build up trust, Alice accepted Parker for who he was & what he could become. Was great to get an introduction to some of the other Sinners. Cannot wait for the spin off series & to delve deeper into their stories as well. But damn that ending !!!
I’ve found my fav Lazarus. Parker (aka Pride) is a totally dbag right? Wrong. He’s amazing. He cracked Graces laptop containing all the info on him and his siblings. He knows what his power is. And he thinks he’s a monster. “Wrapping a lion in Armani didn’t change the fact it was still a beast.” -Parker oh my sweet Parker. He’s found his mate. And she’s badass. Parker is stubborn and arrogant… but he believes it’s his duty to take care of the family. To be the leader. To handle it all. Until his mate gives him a reality check. In addition to imploding the Syndicate, his ultimate goal is to find his sister, Despair. And that requires a little help.
The bionic arm. The shibari. The arrogance and love and struggle to be perfect… all make Parker conundrum. At first, you wanna hate him, but really you love him so much.
Wooooo-hooo. This book is packed with action just like I knew it would be. And the prideful Parker finally gets his in this book, and a dose of humble pie too... But we already knew that he found his mate from the previous book if you remember correctly. But what he didn't know is she's been right under his nose the entire time. Sit down and buckle up kiddies, your going for one hellva ride. Pride- when you take pride in your work it's the greatest feeling ever. But some go too far and twist it into a great evil thinking they got one over on ole Parker. Maybe they have? Will he be able to protect his family and keep his newfound powers under wrap? The beast wants out, but he doesn't dare, because his pride's been hurt enough dealing with all the blows in life and the beast is so unpredictable...
I have looked forward to Parker's story for a while now and wow what a story. In the last book, we left Parker with his arm being amputated after refusing help from a Sinner. Since then it seems Parker has been keeping a secret from his family, finding out who that Sinner was has put a spin on things he didn't see coming. Alice and her past have made her the perfect balance for Pride, but has Parker ever really seen her. Needing help and accepting it is hard for Parker, but to track down the syndicate and find Daisy he's going to have to deal with it, and his pride. I'm glad that we got a little peek into Parker's and Daisy's past. This crime-fighting vigilante family doesn't let us down.
I absolutely loved this story! I wasn't sure if I was going to love that the heroine was a sinner or how parker would deal with his pride but Lana told a wonderful story for them. I had the hardest time pulling myself away from this story when life interrupted my reading!😁. Every page had me wondering what was going to happen next. And the way this book leaves off has me anxious for the next story! Take a chance and read this series. I love the whole series. You can always jump in at Parker's story but you will want to go back to envy #1 book in this series and see how all the siblings find love and fight for good!
We had to wait a long time for Pride's story and it was definitely worth it. He is the leader of the group, always perfect in what he does and says, but his Pride can get in his way. Good thing his mate doesn't let him walk all over her.
I have to say that Lana's characters are all so different. No two Mate's are the same. Often with authors you see that there is still a line somewhere in terms of character traits. They are truly individuals and don't suddenly fall into a different character pattern, one that looks like a previous character. Very enjoyable to read.
Lana's books read so smoothly and you're immediately into her stories.
I flipping loved this book!! It seems like I’ve been waiting forever for Pride to fall, but what a spectacular way to do it!
Parker Lazarus is Pride incarnate, and the only woman who can tame him is the deadly Sinner assassin posing as his secretary. His sister is lost to them, his arm gone (that’s what happens when your own sin gets the better of you) and their tech is in shambles—tech that Parker developed.
But there are worse things coming, and Alice, his Sinner mate, could be the key to saving the world. Or the destruction of his family.
I don’t know how she does it, but each book just gets better and better. Now… when will we see Despair??
From one book to the next, the plot has a solid path to follow. This one did just that. However, these tales are far from tedious. Each character has their own personalities, strengths and of course, devastating weaknesses. Pride is an extremely hard characteristic to keep in a good light, but this skilled author manages to do that without hiding or glossing over the ugly . When looking for a read that grabs your attention that also gives you explicit mature content, this author will deliver. This series will definitely keep you squirming in every way imaginable. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Another thrilling installment in the Lazarus family adventure. Parker and Alice's story is just as good as I hoped it would be. And I loved how it shed more light on the Sinners and what they are all about. I have been a fan of Mary's since book one. So I really enjoyed that side of the story. The romance is as good as always. And I absolutely loved how fast paced and action filled this book is. I have come to love these vigilante heroes and I don't think I'll ever story. If you enjoy stories about superheroes finding love then this book is for you. It has all the right ingredients; romance, action, family drama, and past demons coming to haunt the characters. Overall, a perfect read.
