Snakes have been fascinating to us through the ages. Many keep them as pets today. Most continue in the wild. This book shows colored pictures of many snakes; "harmless" snakes, venomous ones, constrictor types, and others. A garter snake can help us grow better gardens by reducing many little critters that cause damage to vegetables and other plants.
This was a horrible "introduction to snakes" book. So much of the information was incorrect, such as calling a green tree python a pit viper. And please, if you're going to discuss dangerous snakes, get it right: snakes are not "poisonous," as the author repeatedly stated. Snakes are venomous. This may seem like a small distinction, but if you are writing in an effort to impart basic knowledge, at least get this correct, because there is a difference. I could go on and on about the flaws of this book, but suffice it to say that this is NOT the book to read - especially for children - to learn some cursory information about these incredible creatures. Even as a free Kindle book, it's not worth it.
