For me personally, this book had two things going for it: length and fast-paced. Both of which I'll go into further. I've had this in my Kindle library since last year (among literally hundreds of other books) and to be honest, it sort of got lost in all the mess. However, I'm happy to say that I finally got around to reading it.

For starters, this book is a WHIRLWIND of action. I kid you not, from the first page, we jump right in the thick of things, namely a group of terrorists in a mall. There's chaos, people in panic, and worst yet- our MC, Tom Harper- is separated from his family. From there the plot continues to move at an incredibly fast pace, leaving neither character nor reader a chance to catch their breath. About halfway in, there's a couple of slower scenes that allow a closer look at the family dynamics. Overall, it's a very intense survival story. Not to mention, the story take place two days before Christmas which not only caught me off guard but reminded me ever so slightly of Die Hard in that way. (off topic, but did you know Die Hard is also a book??? Nothing Lasts Forever. Haven't read it yet but it's on my list) The Christmas elements were very slim, almost nonexistent.

The length, as I mentioned earlier, was a selling point for me. Less than 100 pages and the chapters were equally short. Made for an easy read.

I was actually surprised to find a couple Christian elements. At the beginning there's some scripture references and Tom occasional prayers while searching for his family. I would have liked to see more of this.

There was mild language (very mild) and some flirtation between husband and wife. As for violence, there were several shootings and murders but no gory or gross descriptions.

Overall, this was a nice time-killer that kept my interest. I would have liked more POVS from the terrorists. Speaking of POVS, it often switched between Tom and his wife and I thought they were well done. I didn't have any trouble keeping up.

If you enjoy fast-paced thrillers you might like this! 3.5 stars!

Escape and Evade is an action-packed tale that moves like a runaway freight train. Escape and Evade is a page burner. It is an adrenaline rush. The plot of Escape and Evade is so plausible that it could have been taken from tomorrow's headlines... There are “terrorists” shooting everyone in a shopping mall where a family has gone to watch a movie. The husband gets separated from his wife and daughter and, armed with a 9 mm pistol, faces off with terrorists armed with AK-47s single-handedly to save his wife and daughter. This is one of those books that you cannot put down once you start reading it. Fortunately, it’s short enough to be read in one session.

I had never heard of Alex Anders before downloading and reading Escape and Evade, but now that I have, I want...no, I need to read more of his books. Alex Anders has made it to my favorite list.

Tom heads to the mall to meet his wife Meg & their daughter Cassidy. Suddenly shots ring out and the mall is under attack by multiple assailants who shoot to kill anyone they see. Can Tom reach his wife & daughter before the shooters do? Can they get out of the mall alive and uninjured? Read on to find out.

Another Hit

Another hit! Great action and suspense. Believable, realistic characters who gain the reader's empathy. The story is written in such a way that the reader becomes part of the action.
