When hemispheres collide…

It started out innocent.

He was my older brother’s best friend. The teen who built sandcastles and splashed in the waves with me when I was a little girl. We’d collect seashells and build moats around our castles to protect the imaginary princess within. He was my Jake. I was his princess.

His summer visits to Australia became less frequent after scoring his first record deal, but I never forgot him. While the multiplatinum singer-songwriter traveled the world, melting hearts and panties with his lyrics, I filled a notebook with his name.

Everything changed when Jake flew in for my brother’s thirtieth birthday party. At eighteen, I’d come a long way from the girl he remembered. One lingering touch was all it took to ignite us. I kissed him, but he walked away. He was still on tour, I was about to start college, and let’s not forget my hotheaded brother.

But after graduation, when a New York internship opportunity lands me in the Brooklyn brownstone across from his, the ocean between us is replaced with a street.

Jake thinks he can’t have me—we’re different as earth and sky—but I’ll prove him wrong. Those five years of distance only deepened my ache. His demons don’t scare me. He’s everything I’ve ever wanted, and I know I can make him happy if he’ll let me.
I'm determined to try. After all, his old sweatshirt is not the only thing I’ve held on to for him…

When earth meets sky on the horizon, Jake Bennett, the King of Ballads, will be mine.

Aria Wyatt is a pharmacist mom who spends the inhumane predawn hours with a cup of coffee and her laptop, gleefully indulging in her passion for romance. Her novels range in heat from steamy to scorching, and she doesn’t shy away from writing flawed characters with real life issues.

She resides with her husband and two children in New York’s picturesque Hudson Valley, near the Catskills and iconic Woodstock. The avid reader balances marriage, motherhood, her pharmacist career, and her romance author dream. When not writing, she dabbles in photography, using the natural beauty of the region to her advantage. She’s a self-proclaimed cat lady who cannot live without coffee, chocolate, music, and books.

Author of True North and the Compass Series, Aria has a soft spot for those who are searching, yearning, and ultimately, finding. Whether on a mission to find themselves, find love, find forgiveness or solace, she believes the answer is out there somewhere.

Best friend’s brother…check. Age gap…check. Swoony singer Jake who has a heart of
gold and struggles with mental illness…check check check.

I was so looking forward to Jake & Isla’s story and it did not disappoint! I fell in love with the troubled crooner in the previous books and knew I’d love his story (Horizon was be read as a total standalone). I felt for him and his struggles and Isla was his perfect match. I loved catching up with all of the characters! Lena is still one of my favorites!!

I tend to struggle with impending drama due to withholding information, which was the case regarding Wes. I wished they’d told him sooner. But otherwise this was a great addition to the series. Bring on Garrett’s story!!!

It feels like I’ve been waiting forever to read this book. Ever since reading the first two books in the series, which are a duet so they need to be read in order, I have been dying to read Jake and Isla’s story. And it not only lived up to my expectations, it blew them out of the water. For real. I couldn’t love this book more.

Horizon is the third book in the Compass series. Though it is a standalone, I highly recommend reading the books in this series in order. For two reasons. They are outstanding—so very much worth reading—and because of the characters’s story arc. Trust me on this, this series is AMAZING!

Horizon is a best friend’s sister, friends to lovers, age gap (10 years) love story. There’s romance, a soul deep connection between Isla and Jake, incendiary chemistry, and so much intensity. There’s also a lot of depth in this story. The story includes issues related to lupus and mental health (OCD, anxiety, depression) that in my opinion enhance its worth and importance mainly because they’re dealt with in a very fluid and emotional way. It happens to be important because regular people live with invisible illnesses that wreck havoc in their everyday lives. And still they can overcome these obstacles and find happiness. Having said that, Horizon has its fair share of hilarious situations and fun. It’s a well balanced story that will make you feel everything. And I seriously loved that.

I loved everything about this book. I couldn’t put it down. I love how this world is slowly growing and evolving. I loved Isla and Jake’s journey. Their connection, their struggles and them as people. Isla is sweet and funny and so strong. She’s a warrior with a heart of gold. Jake is sexy, and strong and vulnerable. And they are perfect together. And their chemistry is off the charts. There’s so much heat!

And I’m not forgetting the side characters. Wes, Lena, Reese, Cora, Garret and freaking Jesse. OMG! Jesse is such a great guy. I love him so much! They all add something to the story and make it even more outstanding. I seriously can’t wait for more of them. I want to read this series forever!

Aria Wyatt is slowly becoming a favorite of mine. She is an amazing writer. Her words are easy to read, her storytelling flows naturally and it conveys so much emotion. I wouldn’t call it angsty but soul deep feeling. Her characters feel so real and even if you can’t relate personally with what they’re going through, you get them and feel for them because she allows you to understand their feelings. I think she’s fantastic.

Ahhhhh!!! I fucking loved this book so much!!

This book hit home for me on so many levels !!!

I'm boarderline lupus have a heart condition and other issues that have been mentioned in this book! I also crochet!!!

I honestly love they way the author wrote this book. U can tell she did her research and put as much love and affection into this story as she did the others. This one is my favorite of the compass series just because the issues at hand I have personally experience and it was nice for an author/someone else to mention them and bring awareness to the daily struggles I and so many others go through but don't talk about!!!

I have so many thoughts and feelings about this book it's so hard to put into words.

The romance between isla and jake are amazing. I feel the flames and sparks and tension dripping from the page. Their love is truly amazing. They both go out of their to ensure they know enough about each other illness to ensure that they are doin wat they can to help and make loving each other easier.

The way the author described the ocd and anixtey hit the spot for me. It was dead on. I TRULY love that Aria Wyatt is bringing attention to the struggles ppl face on a daily that no one knows about. How jake describes how he feels about sharing his illness is 100 percent accurate(for me at least) it's not something that can be explained and shared about with anyone they have to have experienced for themselves. I struggle anxiety and depression badly. At one point it might have costed me the love of my life. It's hard for others who don't kno how it feels or wat it does to ur mind and having lupus on top of it doesn't make it any easier regardless of the stage it is at.

Aria i am so moved and touched by this series and Ive already told u but thank you for bringing awareness to these illnesses. I hope this series gives people a better understanding of what most people go through.

Horizon is the third book in the Compass series by Aria Wyatt. The first two books focused on Wyatt and Lena. In this book, we get to read about Jake and Isla.

I love the first two books so I was super excited to read this one.

And damn, I love this book.

First of all, I love the couple. Jake and Isla's reunion and developing relationship is riveting and charming. They certainly bond well and make for a strong couple. But damn, they have some tough things to deal with.

I am impressed with some of the issues that the author addresses. Anxiety, OCD, lupus, organ transplant, and extreme period pain are all illustrated in an impressive manner. Everything is written with knowledge, care, and compassion. And it makes for some amazingly emotional moments.

Unseen illnesses are at the heart of the issue for these two characters. Both suffer on a daily basis from issues that effect them immensely. I enjoy that they are understanding of each other's issues and can relate.

Horizon is a great read. Everything about this Aria Wyatt tale works for me. It touched me to the core and I felt every emotion throughout. I can't recommend it enough.

Oh my heart

So, it’s no secret that brother’s best friend is one of my absolute favorite tropes. But when you throw in long time unrequited love from both sides, & then some very real, hit you in the gut life circumstances…you’ve surpassed my love of the trope.
Jake is special. He’s secretly been battling mental health for a long time, but now, with Lena in Wes’s life, he finds that he has a chosen family for support. The way that these characters just jump in feet first and accept every aspect of each other is so touching & so heart warming.
Isla is fierce, determined, & a survivor. She’s battled many obstacles in life from an early age, but her biggest battle is finding her love, but not being able to have him. She fits right in to the chosen family, but deep down, she wants so much more.
Jake & Isla were something else. Their love was so pure & seemed so strong…but even the mighty can stumble & sometimes might fall.
The very real & gut wrenching life circumstances were hard to swallow at times, but I loved the way that this chosen family were able to be there for each other to help pick up the pieces.
I can’t wait for more from this world!!

I fell in love with this book immediately!!!

Whilst I’m not usually one for the slow burns, there was enough flirtatious interactions to keep me glued. I never wanted to put it down.

Isla and Jake are the cutest couple and so realistic. Their battles and illnesses have and could happen to any of us.

The way Aria tackles heavy topics like Lupus, depression, anxiety and OCD is simply beautiful. She doesn’t try to glamourise it, she doesn’t try to sugar coat it - it’s raw and it’s real, it’s heartbreaking and it’s beautiful.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster ride, but in the best way. It had me smiling, it had me laughing, crying, wanting to throw something against the wall and it had me crying happy tears.

Thank you Aria for writing such a beautiful, true to life story, with really world issues and amazing characters.

Overly dramatic at times, but I liked the characters and overall premise. Plus, I love the brothers best friend trope! This story has lots of heart; it’s a touching story. Isla has been crushing on her older brother’s best friend, Jake, for years, but things just never came together. Now, Isla will be living across the street from Jake, and the connection between the two won’t be denied. Great chemistry between them, and they are so sweet together!Jake being a famous musician, his emotional and mental health, Isla’s issues and her brother all cause complications for Jake and Isla’s path to happiness together. An entertaining, cute romance with some good steam! I enjoyed the writing style too. A good read full of heart!

This one was a tough read at times. I liked how Isla used her second chance at life to go for what she wanted...Jake. I could see why Jake was initially hesitant with Isla, but he was so sweet with her too. I admittedly did a lot of swooning in the beginning.
Those brothers of Isla's were definitely something else, and it kind of made me shake my head and was a little sad. I was glad she had Lena and Garrett on her side. It's crazy how both conditions in this book were debilitating, but one was more mental and one more physical. However, they both had the ability to bring the sufferer to the knees. My heart went out to Jesse and how selfless he was in his time of need. I hope he gets his own book.

“You’re my twin flame, Jake Bennett.”- Isla

I love Isla so much! She is so fiesty and such a free spirit, even while battling lupus and trying to show her overprotective big brother that she's a grown woman now. Poor Jake is dealing with some serious demons in secret, along with being in love with his best friend's little sister. Absolutely nothing to worry about right?

The intense connection between Isla and Jake is so visible, they're magnets drawn to each other. 5 years of want builds up alot of passion. It's such an emotional book overall, between them, between Reed and Isla, and then Jesse completely broke my heart. This is only the second book ever to make me cry.

There's enough humor throughout that it's not overwhelmingly angsty. God Bless Lena and her Wes-isms! And I love how Garrett calls Isla Crocodile Dundette.

This is the 3rd book in The Compass Series and my favorite so far. I need 'Place To Land' to be recorded please. Oh, and my name is in the acknowledgements!! (Slightly fangirling!) I am so excited for more from Aria and this amazing world she has created ♡

Holy smokes. One of my favorite books so far in 2021! This one BLEW ME AWAY. Was not expecting it, which is always the best. It is S P I C E Y 🔥 but also sweet and hilarious! These characters are all so true to themselves and I love that. This book shines a huge light on mental illness specifically OCD, anxiety and depression which I resonate with so much. It also has a main character that struggles with lupus which was so eye opening to me. I can’t wait to get my hands on Arias other books! Dare I say I have a new favorite author?! 😍

Wish female authors would stop sharing this harmful trope of young girls and a power dynamic of a much older man.

But then, these women still believe in Virginity because they need their Virgin Tropes even though Vaginismus is a real Chronic Illness and a problem in women caused by Purity concepts.

They need the idea that Alphas exist when they do not.

People are not a breeding pair of wolves surrounded by their own adult offspring.

Soooo problematic just because like this is a girl who bonded with him as a healthy adult.

So problematic.

The brother’s best friend trope is fairly new for me, but I loved it. Jake and Isla are both so sweet and so perfect for each other. Life is hard. And this book does a great job at demonstrating how chronic disease and mental health can affect our lives and ultimately our pursuit of happily ever after. Both living with chronic disease and dealing with mental health issues was perfectly portrayed and the medical details were spot on (which is super important to me- ha!). I loved this book and definitely recommend.

I enjoyed Horizon

Who doesn’t enjoy a brother’s best friend romance? Add in that both the female and male main characters have challenges they each overcome on a daily basis. Isla has Lupus. Jake has OCD, anxiety and depression. Each comes into play throughout the book. There are a few incidents of miscommunication between the two that might want to pull your hair out. However, those incidents help the characters grow. Overall, I did enjoy the book though I had to deduct a star because I seriously hate third act breakups.

Another amazing immersive story by Aria Wyatt!! After reading True North and North Star, I could not wait for this book to come out. I was immediately sucked into the world of Jake and Isla. Like all of her characters, they were complex with many layers. I love characters that are like onions, they all have so many layers to them. I love learning little details about each of them. Jake and Isla have had five long years to think about their "forbidden" kiss. The result is a sizzling hot passionate romance. I love how the author writes from both points of view so you truly experience the story as they do. Kudos to Aria Wyatt for tackling the topic of mental health which has been taboo for too long. She also gives us a glimpse of what Isla goes through daily dealing with her Lupus. She did a great job vividly describing what it is like living with it, from all perspectives. The look inside Jake and Isla's worlds were enlightening. I absolutely love that she writes about characters that are so real and face real problems no matter if they are a celebrity or an ordinary person. After years of reading romance books that always had the perfect people in the perfect situation, reading her books have been a breath of fresh air. This is her most emotional book yet but it was balanced with plenty of humor. Life isn't always sunshine and rainbows, sometimes there are dark clouds and thunderstorms rolling through life that shake things up. I'm looking forward to reading Symphony and Masquerade. I want to know what happens to all the characters that we have met in her books.

This is my favorite book in the Compass Series. It is an amazing love story that is so full of emotion and heartbreak. I love the perfect union of Jacob and Isla despite all of their imperfections. This story made me happy, made me sad, made me cry and heartbroken. It shed light on various diseases and how it impacts day to day life and put a spotlight on mental health and the reality of dealing with depression, anxiety and OCD. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Swoon, Swoon, Swoon!!! I can’t express how much I enjoyed Horizon by Aria Wyatt. After meeting Jake earlier in the series it was wonderful to see him get his own story. Aria Wyatt has written a super sweet best-friend’s little sister/brother’s best-friend/age gap/friends-to-lovers who reconnect after years apart story. I swooned the entire time while reading this book that was heartbreakingly beautiful, and full of humour, emotion, swoon-worthy moments, and steamy scenes, it has all the feels, and it was easy to get lost in the story of Jake and Isla I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put it down.

Horizon is book three in the series. Jake and Isla's journey was beautiful and emotional at times but the chemistry and connection these two had was everything! This book touched on illness with Isla's daily struggle with Lupus and Jake's mental health struggles. I loved it and can't wait for more!

It wasn’t a bad book not amazing but it was good. I like how detailed her lupus is it makes it more realistic. The OCD was ok it felt off for some reason. I love how the age gap is kinda big but Jake made it clear he didn’t have feelings for her until she was 18 so it makes me feel better that he’s not really a pedophile!

Great love story with warmth and friendship. But in this book the author almost lost me a few times by being too competitive. I loved the way she developed the story line and the ending gobsmacked me.

Would’ve been 2 ⭐️ but u liked the ocd/mental health/lupus rep. However, the story was all over the place with plot/confoict. Too much extra and unnecessary only to skip trying loose ends in a few things. I also hate insta love.
