I don’t have a crush on Thorne Briar, Winthorpe Academy’s cruel, elite prince.
I want to crush him.

Thorne declared war on me tonight when he took away the one thing I had left.

But here’s where he got it wrong: I’m not about to crouch in the shadows ensuring he never sees me.

If I do, it would only be so he doesn’t see me coming.

The boy who made my emotions spike and swirl, crushed them in his hands.

He thinks he’s weakened me with heartbreak.

Arrogant jerk.

It only puts me in the perfect position to take away something that matters to him, too.

CRUSH is the second installment of a dark, high school senior romance containing mature themes such as bullying, enemies-to-lovers, and intense, potentially triggering, situations meant for 18+. It ends on a cliffhanger.

This story picks up after the events of Thorne. Ember comes home after the party at the Briar house where her rival and nemesis Aurora is given the coveted Marks prize. She spends the entire story of Crush angry at Thorne for not warning her and his actions at the party. In this story Ember learns more about the mysteries surrounding the Briar/Weatherby feud and Savannah's disappearance. Aurora becomes more of a threat and attempts to do some heinous acts to Ember.

During a Virtue ritual Aurora has her recruits cliff jumping into the sea. Ember "befriends" a quiet girl Charlotte but not much is revealed about her. Then Aurora spills hot coffee on Ember on purpose and burns her. To which Thorne retaliates by forcing Aurora to shave her head and telling her he will oversee Ember's rituals. Aurora, livid at her treatment from Thorne attempts to attack Ember in the girls' bathroom and assault her with a broom. This prompt the headmistress and Virtue Queen to step in.
Meanwhile, Thorne is confused about his feelings for Ember but continues to go out of his way to protect her. On her next beckoning to a virtue ritual, Thorne steps in and manipulates Ember into a steamy hookup which he then makes a copy of the video footage for future use....he was supposed to give this footage to his father the King of the Nobles, but Thorne decides to keep it thereby earning the wrath of his father, Damion.

Ember reveals to Aiko what Thorne made her do and the fact that she found Savannah's hidden locket. She also reveals her suspicions that Savannah is a drug mule for Damion and that her father, Malcolm is being forced to work for Damion. This results in Aiko getting upset and unfriending Ember because Aiko believes Savannah to be alive and innocent of Ember's claims. Aiko feels betrayed by Ember and refuses to speak to her again.

Ember partners up with the new kid, Zeke who is an actor who attends Winthorpe high when not working. Zeke and Thorne have been enemies and rivals in swimming. They become more antagonistic with each other when Zeke learns that Thorne has feelings for Ember and manipulates Thorne with this knowledge. They have a couple of fist-fights originating from Zeke taunting Thorne about Ember. Ember and Zeke devise a plan to break into the Briar household at the Halloween party in order for Ember to snoop into Damion's office. Zeke's task is to distract Thorne by pretending to be Ember's boyfriend and love interest. Things work as planned until Thorne discovers Ember in his father's office. They have a steamy, angry hookup and then Ember escapes through the secret tunnel. In the tunnel she discovers Zeke beaten up and sees his true colours when he accuses her of hooking up with the enemy. But then makes mysterious statements that we are to infer that Zeke likes Thorne himself.

At the swim meet Zeke taunts Thorne and tells him that Ember is going to pay and that he has told Damion what happened in his office between Thorne and Ember. Thorne gets worried and tries to save Ember. Ember practically drowns during the meet and is saved by Thorne. She later learns that her drink or apple had been laced with drugs and she is accused of using drugs which go on her record because Aurora, Zeke and Thorne swore to this being a fact. She is upset and swears revenge on Thorne. She is then called to another Virtue meeting.

Ember questions Malcolm and finds out that her adoption was setup by Damion when Malcolm had no knowledge of her existence. Malcolm refuses to talk about her bio mom but she finds out Malcolm was already involved with his wife Julia at the time....it is not clear how Ember was conceived. It is revealed that Damion was behind the adoption and the one who revealed to Malcolm that he even had a daughter all because Damion and Malcolm have been rivals and Damion had been trying to best and manipulate Malcolm. Malcolm tells Ember that Damion's ancestors established the Nobles and that Malcolm's ancestor won the Weatherby mansion by performing a task (the Weatherby house had initially belonged to the Briars and Ember suspects that explains the tunnels and why Malcolm takes poor care of it, out of spite). It is also revealed that Malcolm is upset that he couldn't save Julia from being traded away to Damion, the details still unclear. In a short, hidden conversation from Damion, Julia tells Thorne to save Ember.

That night, Damion angers Thorne and punishes him severely at a Nobles gathering for not giving up the video footage which Damion wants to use against Malcolm. Thorne refuses and attempts to question Damion which angers him and he ends up whipping Thorne in front of the Nobles, most of whom either assist or spur him on. Jaxon silently tells Thorne to be brave and take it. Then we flash to Jaxon leading Ember to the beach for her Virtues test. Jaxon has now taken over Thorne's job of overseeing Ember because it is decided that Thorne can no longer be trusted to do the job. Jaxon helps Ember discreetly by providing her with a wetsuit when Damion tells her the test is for her to swim through currents to light a torch on a cliff. The task seems arduous but Ember perseveres using her anger at Thorne to motivate her. Jaxon hints that Thorne is on her side and that she and Thorne are kryptonite for each other, meaning they are each other's weakness but belong together.

When Ember approaches the torch, Thorne appears and attempts to stop her (why?). He kisses her, which he's never done before and then calls her Savannah which Ember suspects he's hallucinating. After his strange behaviour Thorne leaves. Ember realizes Thorne's hurt but doesn't know the full extent or what's been happening. She lights the torch and hopes she's not run out of time. Things end on a cliffhange when Ember finds out on her phone that Savannah's been discovered alive just an hour ago and it is presumed Damion has left to investigate.

what a crazy and twisted world of the rich

I am going to reserve my review for the third book like I feel I have to, cause of all the angst.

I really can’t help but laugh occasionally thinking about this book. First, for all its crazy, I enjoyed it. Second, I keep laughing because the main chick in it, Ember, kept getting her *ss handed to her. Talk about crush! This girl swore to get back at the elite, she made it her mission to hunt down what happened to the missing girl (her predecessor at the school), she vowed she’d be reunited with her adopted parents…the list is endless. In the end of this book, she accomplished none of this. Not even close. In fact, she ended up being bullied (a lot), treated like garbage (mostly by the bully/love interest), lost her chance at the scholarship she wanted more than life…gawd, the list is endless. Anyway, for all its crazy, I enjoyed it. I just have to keep reminding myself every time Ember got humiliated that it was all on her and stupid is as stupid does. Had she been smart, she’d have allied herself with her bio dad and worked with him to take ‘em all down.

Wow! Ketley has outdone herself. I don’t even know what to do with myself…what a cliffy!?

Everything about Ember and Thorne is addicting. They are deliciously dark and twisted, with chemistry that is OFF THE CHARTS! I swear, sometimes I hate them just as much as I love them.

Their journey has me all kinds of twisted inside! The amount of secrets, lies, secret society shenanigans, and some really messed up bullying has every single one of my emotions on haywire! I’m going to end up in the hospital for tachycardia (shoot letting the nurse in me shine right now lol) because everything about the societies is so fucked up! And every time I want to say “Yes! These two finally..” Ketley shuts it down and leaves my jaw permanently dropped.

I have no clue where this series is going, which makes me love it that much more! Bring on Liar!

“I don’t want to be here anymore. I want to go home. I want to give up. I want to be rid. Of. You.”

Ember finds herself devastated by Thorne’s cruelness and she wants to do the same to the Briar Family.

Crush finds us right where book one left us hanging. Thorne has just devastated Ember by taking away the scholarship and giving it to Aurora. She is utterly broken and vows to take down Thorne and the Briar family for all they’ve done to her and the Weatherby family. She continues her quest to find Savannah and continues to be unable to physically say no to Thorne. She is battling internally, and all the lies and deception are wreaking havoc. Thorne has direct orders from the Nobles King on how to handle Ember, but he does everything he can to protect her (unbeknownst to Ember). He finds it hard to fight his attraction to her but knows he has to, for both of their safety. The push and pull between these two is straight up dizzying!

I am pulling so hard for these two! We learn so much more about Thorne and this boy…! He is strong and stubborn, which we knew, but we are seeing his loyalty and devotion coming through! There is so much at play, he is a puppet for his evil father. I can’t wait to see the demise of Damion Briar! Be warned that this book does end in a doozy of a cliffhanger!

I am positively flabbergasted that this series is so well rated? This was okay at best. Much darker than the previous book (which yes, you kind of figure will be the case in a secret society book but holy crap) with a very disgusting and disturbing almost rape scene.

Again there’s a lot of behind the scenes stuff happening in the background that we still don’t fully understand. Some stuff is answered in this book and the final twist I had already predicted and was not surprising in the least. Where they’re going to go with that though? No idea

Must read!

Crush is the 2nd book in the trilogy with Thorne and Ember. I love, love the push and pull between them two. Their sparks will catch you on fire! The characters and plot are what make these books great. Just when you think you know which way it's going, something happens to blow up your theory. No one is really who they say they are, and to trust is questionable. Can't wait for Liar!

The heroine has graduated from being just a dumbass. Now she is a pathetic dumbass. This whole story is batshit ridiculous.

Here's one thing that really bothers me about this trilogy: the sex scenes are all rooted in breath play/erotic asphyxiation, but it fundamentally misrepresents the kink. I've never tried the business myself, but even I know that you're supposed to stop choking/asphyxiation bit for the orgasm. The rush of having oxygen is what makes the orgasm stronger. Aside from the dom/sub dynamic involved in getting choked, that's the point of erotic asphyxiation in the the first place. And for the record, while I don't have personal experience I do a cursory Google search to confirm my understanding (which tells me that the author didn't even Google the kink before she made it the focal point of her every sex scene in a trilogy). These kids are off masturbating and coming underwater and thinking it's a gay old time like idiots.

Thorne forces her to jump off a cliff. She almost drowns, so he saves her, and when he gets her to shore she thanks him? Come on, it was his fucking fault she almost died in the first place! And then after, when they have to get naked and cuddle because her hypothermia is so severe (because of course they do) she stares at his naked body, and from the heat of her attraction she's not even cold anymore. They lie together, but her shivering isn't from her hypothermia and severe exhaustion from almost dying, no sir. It's because she's horny.

Ember hates Thorne, feels betrayed by him, is consumed with thoughts of revenge on him, and this is deserved by the way, because he treats her like absolute dogshit. But the moment he's near, she's pathetic.

The thing about the MCs' relationship is that it's really all about the choking. Thorne and Savannah broke up because she wasn't down with his kink. He was about to fuck another girl at a party, despite his ongoing involvement with Ember, and would have, too, but the girl wasn't into being choked and put a stop to it. They don't have any real connection outside of a physical one.

Thorne makes Ember feel as awful as possible as often as possible, without remorse. Sometimes this is at the behest of his father, but sometimes not. In the first book when the swim team walks into the pool, only to find a naked, post-hookup Ember and Thorne? She scrambles to cover herself and get away, but Thorne tackles her and spreads her out for the swim team's viewing. There is no reason for this other than to humiliate her, and it's never addressed afterward. Ember is too horny for Thorne to hold a grudge about it.

I'll probably finish the series because I'm no quitter, but this whole story is making it as hard as possible. It's torturous.

The Bully Romance continues as Secrets are Uncovered

Crush. ( The Thorne of Winthrope Book Two.

Continues with Embers search for the truth about the disappearance of Savannah.

Step sister of Aiko, ex girlfriend of Thorne Briar,.

As the plot thickens, Ember uncovers a dirty underbelly of illegal activity amongst the Nobles, in particular their King, Damion Briar ( Thorne’s father )

Damion Briar, for his part is an egomaniacal leader, ruling his Nobles with an iron fist.

Determined to bring down Malcom Weatherby, in fact grind the last of that family into the ground.

Thus, he takes a special interest in Ember, as she is the last of the Weatherby’s, knowing her demise will push his nemesis Malcolm over the edge.

So, with Thorne, as the Noble Prince, doing his fathers bidding, and Ember still investigating Savannahs whereabouts, and exactly why she may have been silenced, it places Thorne and Ember on a collision course.

While he is placed in charge of her initiation into the Societies, he takes great joy in making her bend to his sexual desires as she is desperate to become one of the Virtues.

As a Virtue she believes this will allow her access to more information, in an effort to finding the truth.

As her position seems to be guarantee after a gruelling challenge, thing take a turn to the unexpected leaving this book on as cliffhanger.

Well, after all, of Embers blustering at the end of the previous book, and the very start of this one.

She was going to get her revenge and…

“ Make Thorne Pay”

Well, that lasts all the way up to chapter eight and nine before she capitulated.

This girl…Ugh!

First she nearly drowns during a Virtues task, and it’s Thorne to the Rescue.
( she actually called out to him to help )

Then we get the computer lab, where she it prepared to drop her angry in exchange for an orgasm. 😒

Not to mention she has the ability to summon people to appear just by think of them 🤔

So, basically this became a cat and mouse play, by play, between Thorne and Ember while she pretends to be looking for evidence to bring down Damion and the Nobles, unable to resist Thorne’s smell, muscles, dark stare, and he takes great joy in sexually torturing her into bending to his will, while doing his fathers bidding.

But don’t fear dear readers because, just like Chase in the Briarcliffe series, Thorne has the innate ability to appear OUT OF NOWHERE the moment Ember is in any kind of dangerous situation.

( in fact there are a LOT of parallels between this book and the Briarcliffe series.
Not to mention the dynamics between the two main lead characters )

She is place in dire circumstances over, and over again, only to escape by the skin of her teeth.
Either by Thorne’s hand, or his good buddy Jaxon

So by the end, the back and forth between these two has us once again with them at loggerheads just as a mysterious ( missing ) character re-emerges
In the plot’s cliffhanger

There was so much happening in this book and I got a snake just reading the 1st and second book of the series it's a lot better than the briarcliff series.
Okay, Crush takes place right after the events of Thorne. Ember comes home from the party at the Briar house. The 1 thing she was aiming for the Mark's prize instead of was given to Aurora. Through out the book is mainly about Ember plotting for revenge against the Thorne and his father for everything they've done to her and Malcolm. We find out most likely that it Damion who was responsible her kidnapping and keeping her a secret from Malcolm for the last 18 years. We find out the connection with the spreadsheet that Savannah had hidden on her computer that was similar to Malcolm's and the one Damion had hiding in his desk. That Damian is running a massive drug ring. Ember becomes friends with the new kid Send who has just returned. They also agree to partner up In wanting to take Thorne down. Send agreeing because it was implied that between Thorne and Zeke they are also enemies and and swim rivals.
The night of the Halloween party at the Briar mansion Ember and Zeke sneak in through one of the passageways. Unexpectedly coming face to face with Thorne to quickly. Between Ember and Zekr made a plan that Zeke would distract Thorne by guiding him of taking Ember Virginity, so that Ember could sneak in Thrones father office. Soon after Thorne catches her in the act and the ends up having a heated hook up. Soon after She enters The passageway and find Zeke beaten up. We then see his true colors when he shoves his hand between her legs. It also implies that he himself may like Thorne. Damion learns about Ember breaking into his office and plots Her demise at the swim meet. Her water cantina was lazed with drugs Resulted in her passing out and almost drowning. At this her reputation has been ruined even more, putting on her record that she has a drug abuse.
Ember is then assigned a new person in charge of her tasks We learn that it's Jaxon. The night she meets Jaxon for her task prior to the events Thorn is severely punished for disobeying his father. When they get to the destination Jaxon had discreetly put a wet suit into her backpack without her knowing. Damian is there in charge of her task, Ember has to swim through the current to light a torch on a cliff. When she makes it out she climbs the click to wear the torches not expecting to come face to face with Thorne. She believe that Thorne is there to not allow her to complete the challenge. And I in a desperate move Thorne kisses her, which then turned heated. After the heated case Thorne calls her Savannah, In a split moment she thinks he's hallucinating. Savannah has been found and walks away. She likes the torch to complete her challenge She's been a discovers that's Savannah has been found alive.

Wow! I am SO glad I continued with this series. Book 2 delivered so much…I mean...WHAT THE CLIFFHANGER?

Ember and Thorne are a pair that are drawn together like a moth to a flame…their pairing is dangerous, deliciously addicting, twisted, and dark, but you hate to love it all the same. The tension between these two is palpable and their journey is such a wild ride. Surrounding these two, there are still a lot of secrets, lies, the secret society drama, disgusting bullying, threats, and attempts at silence…I mean everything feels like such a muddled mess and when you think they are finally seeing the light and these two are going to move forward, together…we are shut down with our jaws hanging open trying to figure out what just happened!

This installment in the series definitely takes us into the underbelly of the beast so to speak. We find out more about the inner workings of the secret society, and the nefarious activities of the King of the Nobles, Thorne’s father *gross shudder.* What Ember endures at the hands of these societies is definitely darker than book 1 and the Briarcliff series (so check those TWs), and what Thorne deals with is uncomfortable in its own right. There are a lot of bombshells dropped within this book, including Malcom’s motivations (he’s growing on me!), Zeke (I knew he had bad intentions and would be skeevy…but, yuck!), and the fallout between Aiko and Ember was unexpected. I’ve always wondered about Aiko’s intentions in her friendship with Ember, and with their friendship being fractured, I wonder how this will develop in the final book.

For once, it is hard for me to predict where this is going…the emotional whiplash I’ve experienced has kept me on edge and can’t wait to see how this finishes!

This is book 2 of The Thorne of Winthorpe Academy series and it did not disappoint.

Ember and Thorne's chemistry is still off the charts. Every hate filled interaction is just one word away from them tearing each other's clothes off. It's like Thorne is trying to protect her but denies it to himself. I was super frustrating watching these two stubborn individuals remain stubborn. I still love them but I'd like to see the get on the same page soon.

This book takes us deeper in the secret society and its dark underbelly. Thorne's father might as well be Satan himself *insert shiver of disgust* - he's awful and the person he is most awful to is his son. This book itself is darker overall. The things that Ember has to endure. Her encounter with Aurora in the bathroom was bone chilling. Thorne's public whipping. Just WOW. There were lots of bombshells dropped in this book, but they just created SO many more questions. Malcolm truly seems like he cares about her and I'm slowly warming up to him.

I was not thrilled with Aiko in this book. There is something up with her that I think goes beyond her little tantrum with Ember. She has been at Ember's side for everything; knows that Ember is trying to find her stepsister Savannah and exactly how dangerous that is and yet totally didn't show up after Ember and Aurora's encounter in the bathroom. That's either super petty OR there is something else driving Aiko's actions. The BFF we met in book 2 seems to have disappeared when her friend needed her most.

Finally, that cliffhanger. AHHHH That. CLIFFHANGER! I am so looking forward to seeing what happens next. I definitely recommend this series!

DNF @ 85%

I don’t know how I’ve gotten this far in this series. These books are infuriating. I can’t stand any of the characters. They’re so awful and weak willed. But I especially cannot stand the main characters, Ember and Thorne.

Ember is a maddening doormat who enjoys being treated like absolute dirt. She’s supposed to be an absolute brainiac, but she is one of the dumbest characters I’ve read in a while. Thorne is pathetic and just as weak willed.

I can’t read the final book. I don’t think I have the energy to force myself through this. The prose is good, but these books need a proofreader. Quite a few missing words, or double words.

The first book started out so promising. I was so excited for it. It went downhill so fast. Ember doesn’t have a shred of dignity or will power. She’s pathetic and enraging. She’s also all over the place. She’s a terrible judge of character, she has zero street skills, cannot think through or plan a single thing, and she’s incapable of standing up for herself or sticking to her choices. Again, just maddening. At this point, I don’t care what happens to any of these people, including every side character.

I don’t think I can recommend this series, unless you enjoy weak characters that are constantly abused and do nothing to change their circumstances.

OMG...Must Read!

I thought Book #1 was amazing, but Crush, book number #2 is just as amazing! I love Ketley's books, the way she writes these stories makes me to want to finish a book in one day! ❤

Book #2 does not disappoint. Ember finds herself in a battle to Hate or Love Thorne, which proves to be difficult throughout this book...Thorne too is fighting his feelings or tries to understand feelings at times, but he is always there to protect her as much as he can without too much scrutiny coming from his Father (if you want to call him that).

Things that go on in this school make my head spin....the new character in this book is infuriating....Zeke whom adds a new layer of untrusting faith to Ember. In all that happens to Ember, she continues to get stronger, finding confidence when she struggles the most. Although she does have set backs, she does uncover things to make the Societies slightly nervous! 😩

I cannot wait for book #3, the cliffhanger will have you saying "OMG" and wishing that it was February already! ❤

As one would expect, we have all the bullying and machinations your dark bully romance loving heart can stand. They come from all sides and from unexpected places. I enjoyed getting a better picture of the Nobles and Virtues. Some of the rhetoric that is spewed in various scenes is cringy yet predictable, but it doesn’t detract from the story.

I am a little disappointed that Ember still comes across as a pushover and that she’s essentially all thought and no discernible action. When it comes to Thorne and the Society she basically turns into a wet noodle.

As good as I thought this story was, I’m truly hoping that in the final installment Ember actually finds her spine. It will be interesting to see if she’s a strong girl that stands up for herself and her family, or if she’s simply a sycophantic puppet of Thorne’s who has zero self control. From the direction the first two books of this series have gone, I’m leaning towards the latter. Guess I’ll find out. Rounded up 3.75 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I just can't right now.. Ketley you have outdone yourself with Crush. You have done an amazing job creating this intriguing world filled with a secret society and what those who become apart of it have to endure.
If you thought Thorne was an amazing book than you are going to LOVE Crush. In Crush we continue the dark and twisted saga involving Ember and Thorne. We get to know each character a little bit more and what we learn about Thorne explains a whole lot. The twisted mind fu^^ery that takes place will leave your on the edge of your seat. The main question that will arise is just who can Ember trust on her quest to find the truth?
The storyline is more twisted, secrets are more damaging, and the revenge tactics are more vicious! I need the next book ASAP! Oh and prepare yourselves for the cliffy..... Trust me when I say you will be screaming NOOOOOOOOO!

Thorne and Ember are fire!

Ketley has become a genius with her secret societies series. I absolutely love her Briarcliff series and this one is becoming one of my favorites. Ember and Thorne are explosive they have love hate thing going on and I'm here for it.
Thorne my heart beats for him. He has one dark home life that you learn more about and trust me when I say you will feel something for the guy.
Ember at first I thought she was this weak thing but she really comes out swinging in Crush. She wants answers and the girl is not afraid to get them.

Can't end this review without mentioning the cliffhanger at the end! I'm talking mind blowing jaw dropping surprise that I didn't expect.

I need book 3 like yesterday!

*Crush is book 2 in the Winthorpe Academy series. It is not a standalone*

Get ready for the Heat ❤️‍🔥🔥

Ketley’s second installment Crush of The Thorne of Winthorpe Academy picks up where Thorne ended. Ember is devastated about losing the scholarship she’s worked her whole life for. Ember turns her devastation into her own power to over throw Thorne and the Briar family. But Embers body deceives her when Thorne is around she turns to putty in his hands and she has the same affect on him. These two continue in their push and pull relationship. Get ready for the twists, turns, and this thrilling rollercoaster ride that leaves you wanting more and ready for the third installment like yesterday! 🥵❤️‍🔥 I can’r wait to see where these two end up in Liar.

Turning the Tables Or Is It Flipping the Script?

Ember had lost the one thing she wanted and is seeking out her revenge on Damion, Thorne and the secret society that has taken so much from family, so much from her. While at the same time, she is falling for her enemy who is trying to bring her to her knees. Book two is uncovering more about Savannah's disappearance and the reasons behind it, but it is also about bringing Ember down, too, no matter what it takes for that to happen.

The story has many twists and turns, and Ketley has not let up on Ember and Thorne's journey. The story is as intriguing as the first book. She has a way of keeping us craving the next chapter, and for me, it has impatiently waiting for the final book.

And the plot thickens and the cliffhanger is just... WHY????????? That's just mean!
Thorne and Ember are stepping up in all the right and wrong ways.
This story has left me bitting my nails, and hanging by the edge of my teeth. But did I get to sigh of relief at the end? NOOOOO!!!!
Worst part is? I loved every second of it, while I both hated and loved Thorne and Ember while I screamed at the book all the way through.
What a ride to go on. And the best part is? There is more to come, so YAYYYY!!!!
I totally recommend this book, and the series.
I received a free ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Just keeps getting better!

Ember and Thorne gah! I'm not sure who frustrates me more. Seriously though, this story has so many twists and turns and so many conflicting emotions I swear I will have no fingernails left. I'm really hoping that there is a HEA somewhere down the line because as much as these two, no not just them, but all of the future Virtues and Nobles go through to become a part of the Society they deserve a happy ending. There needs to be a changing of Kings along all the chapters and let the new generation take over. Change is needed and hopefully coming soon.

This book was pretty good. The author I think makes a few mistakes when describing things like clothes or our FMC ability to handle herself. One second Never is a badass getting ready to burn the world down, the next she is to weak to kick some ass. Or she's wearing yoga pants, the shirts in the same scene. Just little mistakes. The storyline is decent and the spice needs to be kicked up like a billion notches, because daddy Thorne! I like s the dynamic that was being hunted at and I really wish they would stick to it. The back and forth feelings of Thorne and Ember gets frustrating.

Overall a good book and a good addition to the series.

After reading the ARC, It is everything you would expect from one of Ketley's stories And So MUCH MORE! The level of anxst worded into Ember's world is absolutely heart pounding. I literally had to stop to sleep just so I could finish the book! Her battles emotionally and physically are over the top and all interwoven to show just what's she's up against. And if you think you can guess the next twist, HA! Here comes another layer to the puzzle. This is worth the read and the cover is absolutely beautiful. Well done Ketley! Now where is Liar and how long must I wait? 😉🍷🍷🔥

4.5 STARS

Spoilers… maybe?

It’s a well-written book but I had times where I just wanted Ember to shut up and be smart about her approach. It was frustrating to read her irrational decisions/choices. I’m sorry but if you’re standing up to a bunch of powerful people, at least make sure you’re powerful enough to do it without endangering everyone else (SELFISH).

Anyway, Thorne and Ember have great chemistry and I would love to read more about their story, but Ember needs to smarten up especially for someone who has an astounding GPA.

Wow...I just love all the twists and turns in this story! Ember and Thorne just have the best chemistry with so much push and pull!
Thornes character is so complex, I really like the back and forth as he struggles to balance his emotions for Ember against his father's demands!
Overall though this book and series is not one you want to miss, it has all the right feels, hooks you straight in and will have you guessing and questioning everything....I cannot wait till we start to get some answers in the next book!

I don't even know where to start with this one.

Damion Briar continues to want to ruin Malcolm Weatherby.

Thorne Briar's obsession with Ember gets stronger.

Ember wants to bring the Briars down and find out what happened to Savannah - the girl that went missing the year before.

Aurora really starts to amp up her hate for Ember, getting particularly vicious to try and break her.

This installment is average when compared to the first book in this series, but it still remains intriguing enough.

I honestly absolutely Loved this book, I loved how ember didn't give up even though there was everything around her willing her to. She was broken an beat down but that didn't stop her. I also love thorne yes he's the enemy but ember does something to him to where he wants to protect her even if it gets himself killed. I cannot wait for the final book, I also just love ketley Allison she brings such life, love, hate and imagination into all of her books.

someone needs to bring Damion down!

Let’s be honest if Thorne, Malcolm, and Ember actually sat down and talked/ compared notes they could probably usurp Damion. I also feel bad for drugged up Laura and hope she gets to go home to Malcolm soon. You would think Thorne would have looked into what she said to him, especially since she never speaks! I also want to know who is Ember’s bio mom!
